Heather "Janetr - You prompted me to arrange to go up again for my cancer friend 's chemo on the 9th. "
I'm glad you have plans to visit your friend. I'm praying my friend won't have to face chemo, but we will cross that bridge when we get there.
My friend called as I was getting ready to eat lunch to ask if I wanted to go to Hobby Lobby with her, I told her I'd be there as soon as I was done eating. We spent three hours walking about buying little pretties for our handy works. On the drive home we decided our husbands should take us to dinner. When we got to my house, her hubby was here visiting with mine, they live just the other side of a small pecan orchard. So off the four of went to dinner. The four of us always have a fun time, her husband teases me a lot and I give it right back. I plan to be on hand when she wants company to take her mind off the upcoming surgery.

Hi Gals,
Allie – stand strong, they are being ridiculous!
Evelyn - hugs
Dealing with hoarders – hugs to all ! my family (as far as I know) doesn’t have anyone with this issue, and after reading about your challenges I am thankful.
Janetr - thinking of Joyce! So sorry to hear this!
M in OZ - sending you good thoughts and peace
Heather - I want to read it based on the blurb alone!
I have been taking on the challenge of funeral planning/options for my brother when he passes, just gathering costs and choices… California is expensive. One of the options is to have him cremated and put in the plot that has our dad, the cemetery/funeral home has a room we could use for a celebration of life but OMG the room with 22 bottles of water and 4 boxes of tissues (I don’t have any idea why those numbers that is just how they do it) for 2 hours. (chairs, a podium and pa system included) is $4,000.00; more if you want the casket or urn in the room… We will be doing the memorial/celebration of life at a friends - $4,000 could buy a lot of food and drink.
There are 2 pages of line itemed expenses just to be cremated and interned in a plot we own…. This was my favorite “Survey Development fee $75.30” I asked exactly what’s that? It’s to have the gardener level out the soil and put the grass back, I offered to do it for half!
Plenty to think about… I am starting to look at pictures so I have some ready to go.
My mom is really wanting her family together, she has always been in denial that my brother has issues and now even more so; I have talked it over with her and my nephew and I will be going down to have Easter breakfast with them, the first holiday meal in 14 years, it was 14 years ago that my brother broke my ribs because I asked him to pass the mashed potatoes at Christmas dinner. I am a bit nervous about it. But I will be going on high alert purse left in the car, car parked in a place it can not be blocked in, keys and cell with me at all times. My brain thinks it will really be ok, my nerves are anxious. I do know my nephew will be looking out for me, but that is really not his job. A 19 year old should not have the burdens he has.
Smiles

Hi Sisters, I went shopping for a dress and ended up buying a horse, as you do. Well, as I do. I know these weird kind of things only happen to me. I have been planning to sell horses and reduce numbers, not buy them, but this is one of those weird coincidences that I know God plans so for some reason I am meant to buy this horse...Called into the saddle shop to buy some wormers for the horses, ran into an old neighbor that I haven't seen in ages because she moved away. She had a beautiful part-arab filly that I had fallen in love with and tried to buy, but she wouldn't sell her. When she saw me in the store, she said "Do you still want that filly? My husband and I have split up. I can't keep her. I don't want him to take her because he starves his animals." (They had the spca called about his horses numerous times when they lived next door to us) There was just no way I was going to let that special little filly go to that horrible neglecter of animals. So she is supposed to be delivered here in about three days time... Um, now I need to find more hay to buy for winter. LOL. Good thing we're getting paid out soon. Oh boy, wait till my hubby finds out... Wendy
Here is her pic I took a year ago.

Mary - MFP was hacked and is advising everyone to change passwords. If you go to the MFP homepage, there's an explanation there.

Quick report. Despite long lines at the car rental and challenging conditions on the road, son and family made it to the ferry on time and arrived just after 7 yesterday evening. The kids exclaimed about the "CRAZY" amount of snow all through dinner (pasta and pesto - their favorite). About 8 pm they put on their skis and went out. With little Juno in the lead, masterfully handling the task of creating tracks in deep snow, they skied around the house a few times then down the hill, then started digging snow burrows. They couldn't be persuaded to come in again until 9:30, loooong after bedtime.
Now, after a hearty breakfast of oatmeal, they're out again, sledding down the driveway. I may post pics later.

Hello ladies:-
It's another wet and windy day here in Wales! Typical British weather for the Easter weekend. My little grandson is four tomorrow and we're taking him to the zoo as a birthday treat so I hope it doesn't rain all day!
Best wishes to all

Woot! Didn't make it to Onederland, but did lose a pound while I was traveling... which is a distinct triumph.

London in the 1950s. A 'normal' family. A child who should have been happy and carefree.
In ME I AM author, playwright and theatre director Heather Eyles champions the child she was in a life fractured by sexual abuse. She vividly conjures up the resilient spirit and eager curiosity that survived despite her father's betrayal of her innocence.
From Children's Favourites on the wireless and Dairylea Triangles on the tea table to confusing compulsions and rituals before bed time, this is an absorbing and poignant story of a young girl's search for her own identity in a world of deep, secret shadows, but also some bright lights.

Good Saturday Morning from chilly but hopefully sunny Ohio,
I have been getting more sleep so feeling a little better.
Michele in NC- Are you talking about Daffodils? I seem to remember them being called buttercups also. Hearty little buggers.
Terry in VT- My husband has afib. It took 2 years and 30 # weight loss before his family doctor sent him to a heart doctor. It only showed up on a screen when they did the month long holster wear. His heart at times was beating over 150 beats a minute for over 7 hours!!!!! No wonder he was losing weight so fast and eating everything! Prayers that they get your DH meds back under control. So far the combination of Multaq and Eliquis is working for mine even though expensive! His father died just shy of his 54th birthday. It is scary!
Machka- We are all surrounding you with our thoughts and prayers. I hope you know that if we could we would be there physically to help you. Please reach out to those nearer to help you even if it is just as a shoulder to cry on and many hugs given. (((HUGS))) and prayers continuing.
Wendy- She is beautiful!!! But did you get a dress?
Heather in UK- I love the blurb too! So proud of you.
Allie- sometimes you have to let the family learn on their own. You have to take care of you! My mother tends to get nasty and I shut her out. Don't get me wrong, I do love her, but have enough stress in my life that I don't need to worry about her nastiness. It tends to run in 3 year cycles......
Lisa in NC for now- welcome home! Great job on the event and the loss!
Prayers and hugs continue for those healing and suffering. You are supported by us all! Enjoy your family and friends, life is short. Memories are wonderful! Congratulations to those meeting goals or getting closer.
I can now add fixing dryers to my can do list. I love you tube for that! My paddle (baffle) came loose last night while doing laundry. It took my DH and I about 10 minutes to take apart dryer, fix the baffle, tighten the others and put back together. Yay!
Hoarding is my mother. My sister and I worked tirelessly for 2 years from OH and CA to NC to help our mom. She asked for help and we did. We spent many weekends helping with moving her first from a 4 bedroom house, filled with 4 housefuls of stuff to a 2 bedroom apt, filled with 4 bedrooms of stuff. Then less than a year later, we spent a weekend moving, organizing and setting her up in a lovely 1 bedroom senior apartment. She kept it great for 1 year, then let it go to he**. She got kicked out and didn't tell us until after she moved. Then she did it in an email that just said, this is my new address. She also defriended us children on FB. Really? That move hurt my sister and I more than anything. After we dealt with my father and step mothers house after their deaths, we are not looking forward to my mother's. My father's house was condemned it was so nasty. Every time I think about it, I get rid of more stuffs. My DH likes stuffs, but keeps it well organized, but I am tired of dusting and moving stuffs! My daughters and I went through the few boxes I had in the attic with memorabilia stuffs for them. They both have houses now. I told them to take what they wanted and we got rid of the rest. I need to get rid of more. Ebay here I come. I really wanted to do a yard sale, but have to take somewhere and not interested in that. Ooops, got longer than thought.
Looking forward to Easter with the family tomorrow. Egg coloring, egg hunt, homemade lasagna, salad, garlic bread and desserts. Was only making cherry cobbler, but KY grands requested cheesecake.... Better get my steps in early!!!
Gotta get ready for work. Thankfully short day!
Prayers, hugs, love and laughter,
Kylia in OH where the sun is trying to shine.

Heather - I love this. SO hard to write blurbs, to condense years of effort into a few paragraphs that will intrigue a reader enough to pick up the book. Well done!

Hi ladies, no plans for Easter. Against my better judgement, DD left yesterday to spend the weekend with a guy she met in-line and has met only once. No amount of talking (and yelling) would get her to see how dangerous that is. I told her I wanted a picture of him, his name, address and phone number which she did give me. She texted to say she got there. He is Canadian but working out of NY right now. I’m so sick to my stomach about it. At 35 you would think she would have more sense. Kids!
Going to see if DH wants to go out to brunch today. I’d also like to see if my ring is in so I can wear my wedding band again without fearing it will fall off and get lost. Will also keep my mind off my daughter. She says she will be home tomorrow.
Well guess it’s time to get up and moving.

Margaret a lifetime ago I lived for 3 years in the Minneapolis area and I love Como. Thanks for the beautiful pix. Visited Mpls about a year and a half ago and the parks around the lakes are still stunning--best park system in the country! I miss everything except the winter months. But it is probably a good thing I don't have access to Annie's Parlour, though I notice they have cut back on the hot fudge serving size.
Heather I also love your blurb and look forward to reading your book. Your strength in writing it gives me hope. I have begun journaling and realize I also have to write to make sense of things. Someday I am going to write about my childhood too and how losing my dad at the age of 13 had a profound effect on my life.
Happy Passover and Happy Easter to those that celebrate and for the rest I wish a beautiful springtime.
