Evelyn, so sorry about your cat. Our furry friends never stay long enough.
Jake is feeling stronger today but I am urging him to take it easy except for walking a bit more. He is walking about 4,000 steps a day.
My stats for today:
*17,000 steps
*167 minutes walking Sasha and Bessie
*178 minutes riding the exercise bike
*line dance class
Yesterday was the last day of changing the sheets every other day and clean clothing and towels every day so I finally have a reprieve from all the laundry.
Allie, hugs to you. I hope you can find a way to say no to all the people who are making demands on you.

I have a heavy heart this evening. My good friend, neighbor and crafting cohort was notified by the doctor late this afternoon that the biopsy done Tuesday is malignat, her right breast. Joyce is 74 and not in the best of health. She has COPD and has been on oxygen full time for years. Please remember her in prayer and/or send healing positive thoughts for her. She has an appointment with the surgeon April 17th.
We, Joyce and I , got our wares set up and displayed at the craft store which opens Monday, April 2nd.

I know everyone wants to hear good news ... no one more than I.
But now we wait. He remains in the coma and I try to figure out what I need to do. All the things I need to cancel. All the forms I need to fill in.
I just keep praying and hoping and crying more tears than I knew I had.
M in Oz20 -
Oh JanetR, I am so sorry, you have a beautiful new granddaughter then you get this news. From my nursing days, I know the trouble she lives with the COPD and then she has the breast cancer. I hope you can find happiness everyday from that beautiful little girl. I can just imagine Mia and her new sister, they will be wonderful.
Evelyn,mi am so sorry about losing your cat. As a cat Mom, I know how you must feel.
I am so glad I made the decision to have a kitten with having my adult female cat. I just felt she was slowing down and needed a kitten to play with. Well, I didn't get the new kitten and adult cat to play but they do make a nice combination to be companions. They look vent lay together on my bed or the couch. But then there are the times when Melody will be just laying there. And Mozart goes over and does something to terrorize her. Melody is usually the one who leaves the cat fight but tonight Mozart was the one to leave. Maybe he was afraid of me yelling at him. He doesn't like when I point my finger at him. That is when I mean business!
Charlie still doesn't want to think about doing a will. I know it will cost money, I don't think he knows how much. My sister and I went with my Mom when she did her will and we were shocked at the cost. He found a 'do your own will' at Walmart or somewhere and he thinks that will work. Yes, I think it will work for some of it but when it comes to property such as a house, I don't think it will. But I think he is still dealing with his feelings about his sister's death and there are so many bad feelings there. I think us going to see our daughter and grand kids next week will help some. I think some of you have read of 'The Ark Encounter'. We are going to see that next Tuesday. He knows that I and our daughter have really wanted to go there. Plus since my brother works there, it will be half price. And my brother will be our own personal guide. But Charlie has so many issues in accepting anything Biblical. So he will have issues with the while thing. I know my daughter can help him with a lot and according to how much he verbalized it during the tour, my brother all help. I just don't want my daughter and my brother to be to heavy on him. I guess I need to let them know in advance.
You all know I am just infatuated about my two grand daughters. And I just love my Ellie! I love Trinity also, mshe is a lovely, no beautiful 16 old and I am excited to see where she goes in life. But Ellie is just so outgoing and extroverted. Today was the school talent show. She is in the 5th grade. Last year she was a magician and did real well. This year she was a ventriloquist. Her Dad did a little bit of this when he was a boy and still has his doll. So Ellie used his doll. A lady came up to Christina after the show and told her how wonderful she thought did. She said that she thought Ellie was good enough that she could actually make it into show business. Now this is not what Ellie has voiced that she has wanted to do. She wants to go into something like engineering. But this lady had two tickets to see Jeff Dunham and really felt moved to give them to Ellie and a parent so that she could actually no see a professional ventriloquist in person and maybe see if she could see him in person. So Christina is already working on this and if so Ellie will bring her doll with her so she can perform for him. Of course if they get to see him back stage I am sure one of his dolls would be available. If dolls the right word? But I am really proud of my girl. She picked up archery this year and is best in her age group. If she keeps that up, she may be able to get a scholarship. I know the college that my daughter and SIL went to has an archery program. Trinity is touring it for a potential college and I a sure Ellie will to. One of the schools Trinity would like to tour is one of the colleges here, University of Evansvillle. It has a very well known drama department but it is extremely difficult to get into. I don't think she would have any difficulty getting into the musical department but not the drama. She wants to go into musical theatre. She has a pipe dream of Broadway but I think it is going to be a hard and long drop for her. She has never had any formal music lessons, can't play any musical instrument and has a nice voice for her age and has been in several musicals but it was when she was in 4th and 5th grade. Having the role of Mayze in the 4th grade just won't go far on a college application. But I love her so and want her to be happy in life. And oh, it would be so wonderful to have her right here in town for college. But Uof E is also a very expensive private college. So living here in town would not be that much of a draw when it is that expensive. She could live here if she wanted but we would have to set rules. And we have never had any history of setting rules with her since she has never stayed here since she was in the first grade for one week.
Becca, I am so happy for you. You must be just dancing all over. And this is close enough to your husbands doctors?
Mascha, I continue to pray for your husband. I also want blood absorbed from my stroke so I can get rid of my symptoms.
Love you all, Joyce, Indiana4 -
Machka - when I'm overwhelmed I find it best to reach out for help. Do you have a cycling friend who would sit down with you and work out a strategy for the practical things? Just another person's imput can be helpful.
Sending big hugs.
Love Heather UK xxxxxxx6 -
Machka - I feel for you in this extremely challenging time. Few of my waking hours pass without my thoughts and good wishes going your way.
Rori - You wrote that you'd hung up a map of the world in your zen den. I'm curious, does it show Svalbard (Spitsbergen)? Many maps omit latitudes north of Norway and south of South Africa, leaving off the polar regions - the most important parts! :grumble: I remember visiting the Tucson AZ editorial office of an international journal I once worked for. They asked me to show where I lived on the "world map" they had hanging on their wall. I couldn't, because it wasn't there!
Grace - I used to crochet a bit, mainly window dressings. Here's my most ambitious project: lace edging that I later sewed onto the best bits of an inherited handwoven sheet to make a valance.
That crocheting project was so small and light I could take it everywhere with me. Practical! This picture is from my tiny pied-à-terre in Stockholm. Our ladies in the Pacific Northwest will recognize the Chilkat-inspired artwork to the right of the window. That's my dear middle sister's work.
We're out at the island place in northern Norway now. This is the track my husband made walking up to the house with snowshoes. You can only just see the tops of the fenceposts above the snow. I had no snowshoes, so at times I ***er-hmm*** probed the depth of the snow.
As some may recall, the snow was three feet deep last week. The porch shows clearly how much new snow has gathered since then. (I channeled Terry as I shoveled ) At one end of the house we've got a big six-foot drift. And another snowstorm is headed our way even as I type. The grandchildren will be delighted!

Changed password and thanks Trish for reminding me about Fitbit. Think I might open a new email account to use for these sites.
MACHKA lots of hugs, agree with HEATHER , might help to ask a friend

Ooooh Penny, glad you like the snow! Just makes everything so much more difficult.
Yesterday a "clicker" arrived from Amazon. It's so as I can count the circuits of the deck on my cruise. Last year I walked 10 times round the deck for just over a mile. This time I hope, when it's calm, to run thirty times round the deck for my 5k. I will certainly run out of fingers! So I ordered a clicker. Each time I get to the top of the stairs that lead down to my cabin I will click it.
Got a twitchy right eye. Very annoying. I can see fine. :grumble:
The man is coming at 11 to pick up the Nike sports bag. I think I am in love with Freecycle.

Machka - woke up thinking of you and your husband. Sending healing energies, and all good thoughts your way. Please don't hesitate to reach out to us--we're all here for you.
On the passwords thing, yes I got that message too, and have changed a few passwords in response.
My daughter is now off for the next two weeks, and frantically preparing the house for her husband's return. My six-year-old grandson got on my call with his granddad on Wednesday to make sure to tell me he was missing me, but he won't be there when I get back, and he can't wait to see me when he comes back from his "other dad's." He won't be home when his daddy returns, but he's excited to see him when he comes back from "spwing bwake." He still can't say his "r"s, and it was an absolutely charming call.
Even better, our daughter has assured my husband that she is making all the necessary arrangements for the grandchildren's care so that we can leave without guilt on the 13th. So, for the next two weeks, we'll be sorting through and packing things for yet one more trip cross-country. And, since she's off for that period of time, my husband's basically off the hook for childcare except for a bit of baby-sitting while she and her husband get to know each other again.
Didn't sleep well, but enough to get the exhaustion levels down to tolerable. I knew this would be a tough week, and it was, but well worth it. I'll be back again at the end of April for a board meeting and another panel presentation for a different United Way. That time, however, I'll be driving down from Arkansas! Hopefully be around long enough to visit old friends in Fort Stockton on that trip.
My biggest decision this morning is whether to do a load of laundry at the hotel before I go, or take everything and go--considering my daughter's on a cleaning binge, I'm probably better off doing it here!
Love y'all,
Lisa - the peripatetic traveler at the moment, packing again6 -
Hi everyone
Made it the Good Friday without blowing my calories I also found the Leslie Sansone walk at home and did that this afternoon.
MACHKA
Sending prays from within OZ. There is always someone in the hospital that can help you, religious and non religious helpers are there to assist any way they can. You just need to let the nurse know your issues.
HEATHER
It was only 3 turns around the deck on my last cruise. Where are you off to?
PENNY
I have yet to experience snow - something on my bucket list. Where I live it is either very hot or just raining.

Good morning all! Happy Friday! Doing the Friday dance, here. Most of my families have today off from work, but because I didn't request today off, I have all of the kids. Yea (and boo). lol I heard from DD yesterday, that Joaquin has strep! Ugh! That poor kid! It seems he catches every germ carried by every other child at daycare! So...started antibiotic last night. He is getting so big! He is very close to walking. He walks behind a couple of different "push" toys, and walks along hanging onto various pieces of furniture or window ledges. He is OBSESSED with dogs and has added that word "dog" to his vocabulary. His favorite book is about dogs. I asked DD what Joaquin's favorite food is and she said pasta alfredo. She makes his daycare meals at home and the ladies at the center tell her that they can't wait to see what he is going to be eating each day. He is the most "adventurous" eater. While the other kids are eating pb and j or cheese and crackers nearly every day, he is eating leftovers like chicken and alfredo pasta, pot roast, chili, brisket, broccoli, peas, green beans (he loves veggies). lol I am so glad he is a good eater. Makes life easier. Miss that boy!
Janet - hugs to you on the news of your friend and neighbor.
Allie- More hugs to you as you navigate the storms of family life. I truly think family tries our patience and sanity more than strangers.
Machka- oh my dear friend! It hurts my heart that you are dealing with this on your own. PLEASE, contact a friend or family member for help, or at the very least; use any one of us in personal message (or all of us on this thread) as a sounding board/venting place to just help alleviate the worry and stress and maybe help brainstorm/plan the next steps. We are here for you! Keeping you and your DH in my prayers!
Penny- It is funny that you mentioned Svalbard not being on a map. Just yesterday the kids were watching a science show and they were talking about how it is dark, much of the year (they were talking of Barrow, Alaska). I told them about you and where you are from and they wanted to see where it is on our map....guess what?! It looks like they placed the map name and maker right over your area! lol I told the kids, "I think where my friend lives is under this square!" They looked at me like I was crazy!
Well, I received my grant money for my childcare yesterday. Needless to say, I will be planning and picking out some paint colors this weekend. I am very excited! I am sure I can stretch this by using materials I already have at my house (repurposing furniture and storage). It will just take some time and elbow grease. My main job for this weekend will be to get my thatch rake out and start working on the yard. Right now it looks like a giant rabbit's nest. That will be my workout for the weekend.

Good morning Ladies -
Allie - I am so sorry you are catching it from all sides. I hope you stood up to your brother and said no to staying with Faith. I know you love to help people, but please take care of yourself and let yourself rest. Big hugs!
Becca - Congrats on getting your new home! How very exciting to have a dream coming together!
Katla - I hope Arrow behaves better for you tomorrow. Perhaps he has extra energy from being alone so much lately?
Trish - Yeah for getting in your steps!
Kylia - I hope things calm down for you soon!
Michelle - Wouldn't it be cheaper to just buy the soda with the rain check than to keep making trips to the Dollar store just to see if they have it in?
Barbie - So glad Jake is doing well and even happier that you can stop changing the sheets every other day!
Janet - I am so sorry about your friend. Prayers said for her and for you too. Congrats on the store and the new great grand baby! She is a beauty!
Machka - Prayers continue for your hub, yourself and the staff treating him. Thank you for checking in. While it is true that we would love to hear good news, even more than that we want to know that you are doing as well as can be expected. I'm so sorry you are having to deal with all this. I know you had a lot of events coming up so I know that is adding to your stress even more. Big hugs!
Penny - Have a fantastic time with your grands! I love the snow pictures!!
Lisa - Safe Travels!
Heather - I never would have thought of a clicker, I would have just been checking the distance on my watch to see if I was approaching my goal.
KJ - Yeah for getting the grant money! I know you will do more with it than we can imagine.
About me, the scale was up this morning, which was expected. It is TTOM so I figured it would be up. It will go back down, probably in two weeks, sigh. I am within my maintenance range of 5 lbs, but I really want to get to the bottom of the range so I can say I hit my goal. I know maintaining one static number is impossible, so I set a range of 5 lbs.
I am feeling pretty good this morning. I am going to get my steps in and then clean up and go to the grocery store. I have been starving for the last week so tonight we are having baked potatoes with BBQ rib meat that I had in the freezer. My neighbor brought me over a rack of ribs a while ago because he knows his ribs are one of my favorite foods ever. We weren't going to be home so I pulled all the meat off the bones and froze it. Tonight it will be heated up and added to my (very small) baked potato! I can't wait!! I think I might steam some broccoli to go with it so I feel less indulgent over the meal .
Have a great day ladies!

Machka It's agony to be in limbo while your husband slowly heals. I'm so sorry. Ditto what others have said.
Penny Love the lace edging. And the fancy shovel.
KJ Yay! for grant money and new paint!
Joyce You can make a will without spending money. While it's better if you have a lawyer draw one up, you can download forms and make your own. It would be better than no will at all. Maybe if you found out how much it would cost to have a will made, Charlie would be more likely to get it done. I'm guessing about $400 in Indiana. Here is a link to forms:

Hello Friends, I have the next 4 days off and am grateful for the mental break. I start my April "shredding" project today (a day early) cause Spring Fever has officially hit and I'm gonna ride that wave! Cleaning up, puttering and tallying up my finances for the month while enjoying a big ol' pot of coffee.
Strength and peace to all those facing challenges

Allie not your job to pressure son he is over 21. The home is in limbo. Who would he pay rent to. It also sounds like the home because of the reverse mortgage is going to be taken by the bank and his creditors. Then your son will be forced to take action.
Allie if there is no money coming from your dad's estate just let the bank take care of it. You have no need to hire a probate lawyer if there is no money. You are not responsible for your dad's debts no matter what his creditors tell you. There is no reason to put this on your shoulders. You have already had enough!
I like what our therapist said you try to teach your child about a stove Hot, hot, hot...OWWWWWW!!!! Unfortunately so true of many life's hazards.
Janetr prayers for your neighbor.
((M is OZ)) having gone through cancer with DH and a chronic illness with DS#1. He is the hospital again with his condition. I acknowledge I am in trauma brain. Next I go about my life as normally as I am able and can control . I also do the things that give me strength like singing, (we are singing a gorgeous cantata for Good Friday), going to the flower shows, walking with friends, and painting. I also send prayers and thoughts of love surrounding DS#1 and visit him when possible.
Penny pictures are so calming and peaceful. Thank you!
I had a great time at the flower show yesterday with a friend. We ate at the Good Earth restaurant. A wonderful treat overall.
