Kelly- Great news on the knee! Remember to take it easy and lots of hip stretches and strengthening also. That is what my PT had me doing.
M- I just learned where Tasmania was!

Machka- geography was the only class I took that made me cry lots! Only class I ever got failing grades in. Thank goodness for extra credit reports so I could pass-lol!

Happy birthday Joyce!!!! :flowerforyou:
Did you get my PM with the details of the house?

Joyce ~ Happy, Happy Birthday!
Becca ~ Love your Sis's water colors. She's very talented.
Sudbedew ~ How scary! Glad there were nurses there to help you.
Lenora ~ Glad you checked in. I saw a photo of you and your family in Louisiana in July on Facebook and you looked great.
A very cool Spring day here! This weekend grandson has a lacrosse game, a roller skating birthday party (he'll be 8), and will get Baptized along with his sis (age 6) on Sunday. I probably won't make it to the lacrosse game.

Well the lot is sold all we gotta do is wait for the doe! Some people are so picky. We intentionally left a picnic bench and 2 garbage cans for them, we thought they could use them. The wife called the realtor saying it wasn’t cleared out as agreed and a bunch of junk in a garbage can. I replied to the text (said if wasn’t cleared out the deal was off. I replied saying we intentionally left the picnic bench for them to use and both garbage cans were empty and one just had one tarp in it. We were not planning on going back. We called a guy that we had gotten firewood from and asked him if he wanted them or could we pay him to pick that up and toss them. He wanted them and picked it up for his use at not cost. Some people.....10 -
Heather quote "My knee is stiff and a bit sore today from my kettlebell swings yesterday. Boo! I can't run anyway because it is still really snowy out, so I will row or recumbent cycle for my bonus pm calories. It's so annoying that the swings affect my knee. I should just take the time to strap it beforehand. "
My knees, both replaced, definitely yell at me after kettlebell swings. I do use braces on both knees while doing all of my exercises and it helps a lot though they still let me know they're not pleased.
Hope it gets better.

Heather: The snow looks beautiful. It makes the perfect day to stay at home and cozy-or to go for a walk.
Becca: I'll be keeping you and your DH in y prayers during his upcoming surgery. The possibility that he will feel dramatically better when all is said and done is wondrous.
Ryenday: I love the bookshelf wall. Beautiful!!!!!
Barbara: Happy belated birthday! :flowerforyou:
Miakoda: I love the message, "Good things come to those who work their @sses off and never give up."
Lenora: It is soooo good to see you post!

Machka: I decided promptly that I don't like ANY of the new buttons on the screen so I don't use them or look for them. :grumble:
Joyce: Happy Birthday! :flowerforyou:
I plan to go to yoga today. Right now we only have instructors for Thursday and Friday. The woman who was doing most of the instruction burned herself out and got sick. I hope they find someone for at least one additional day. Time will tell.
The best news is that our son will be visiting this weekend. I am so pleased to get a chance to see him!

Happy Birthday Joyce.... hope this is your best year yet.
And Barbara....a belated happy birthday to you.

Happy Dr. Seuss Day!
"We truly love him in a house. We truly love him with a mouse. We truly love him here or there. We truly love him anywhere. We truly love the silly goose. We truly love old Dr. Seuss!" In addition to his children's books, Theodor Seuss Geisel also did some very interesting political propaganda work during World War II.
Becca - I can so identify with your "starter of great things, finisher of none" comment. I am the queen of unfinished projects. Good idea to try and be more mindful of what's behind that.
Laura - My goodness, 12 grandchildren! Staying in touch with them will keep you busy, but I know having you in their lives makes a huge difference. I was so blessed to have living grandparents into adulthood.
Mary - Your orange-picking trip sounds like fun!
Karen - Wishing you of pluck in abundance!
Kelly - Hurray for improvement on the knee! I take turmeric and glucosamine/chondroitin every day... I have no empirical evidence that they work, but I do seem to have less pain and stiffness when I take them. I know from experience that knee injuries take a really long time to heal.
Thinking of you all, and apologizing if I missed something important. I'm about to run out for a haircut - going back to lurid color after a few months of natural - and I had to read fast! I drive to Austin to see my stylist, but I think when I get back I'm going to go take a look at the three fitness centers in town.
Y'all have a great day!

Pip - GOOD FLIPPIN GRAVY!! Those buyers are a piece of work!!! Thank goodness the firewood guy will take care of it. Every time we've moved to a new place, my HD has been delighted with the "finds" of things folks left. Tho the last piece of property we bought has an old cast iron bathtub dumped back under the ferns and trees. Sounds like a good place for the snakes and toads to hang out for now.
Suebdew - so glad you are OK! What a desperate feeling that must have been! I hate it when I inhale a crumb or swallow too quickly and it goes down my windpipe. This throat blockage stuff is so scary. I knew you meant choking, lol.
Joyce - Happy Birthday a day early, lol. Red Lobster sounds great - so cute about Michelle and her roommate. That sounds like a good set-up, actually. Sounds like a good addition to your family.
Becca - thank you for letting us know about March 14th. What exactly are they doing this time again? I'll go online and look it up. Medical stuff can be fascinating as long as I don't have to watch. Your sister's art project of the birds on sheet music is awesome!!! Has she always been an artist? You have such a good eye for design as well.
Barbie - when is Jake's back surgery again? I too admire your dedication to your schedule and eating plan. Making health a habit is so important! Thank you for teaching us that!
Karen in VA - thank you for the comments - yes, I'm gradually learning when to "help" and when not to. DH is actually feeling pretty chipper this morning and got good sleep last night. I think he's ready to improve his eating, totally quit smoking, and take Plavix or similar plus statins (if he can find one that doesn't give arm pain) if he can avoid surgery and I don't blame him. Winter time is the worst for him with not being able to be outside and get exercise, plus his arthritic hips and knees give him more grief. Folks with rheumatoid arthritis have challenges as they age, that's for sure. DH is 72 and it's a wonder he's in as good of shape as he is.
Machka - When I'm reading this group's comments on my little tablet, I find I accidentally hit the "woo" button more than I'd like, especially when I'm half asleep. Then I have to go back and fix them - fat fingers. Golly I miss the days when some of us thought it meant "Woo Hoo" as in High Five/Happy Dance! To me, "Like" and "Hug" often don't fit tho "Hug" is probably closest.
I remember when retirement was a decade or more away - time goes fast! I am grateful I slogged through a few years of doing jobs I really didn't enjoy with people I really could barely stand, lol, for the health insurance and now the retirement benefits I am getting.
Thoughts on retirement.... I've been totally retired for about a year now - after I retired and started drawing my pension I still worked part/time casual help for the county auditor through last March. By mutual agreement, my stint with them is now done - arthritis in my own fingers limits my ability to do data entry expediently, (and I HATE sitting for any period of time!) and they want to utilize an accounting intern from the local college. Perfect!
So, I'm putting out feelers back at Public Works for something to do with them a couple mornings a week, even if it's just scanning and filing. In a sense, they are still my "tribe" and many of my favorite co-workers and engineers still work there. The long time supervisor of the division I worked for retired, and an engineer I had a great working relationship with is taking over as interim. I popped in yesterday and told him depending on how DH's health was I might be up for something on an as-needed basis, or I might want to continue being totally retired, so we'll see.
OK ladies, got to get a few things done before we head out. Will fill you in later. Happy Friday!

I turn 51 in 7 days, and I may very well have to work till I'm 70!
There is no mandatory retirement age in Australia, but I will not be able to access my government Age Pension until I'm 67 ... at this point. The government is gradually moving the Age Pension out, and I feel like I'm chasing it.
I could access my super (employment pension) when I'm 60, but of course, the pension amount increases the longer I'm in the workforce.
So, at this point, I could potentially retire in 16 years ... but I figure by the time I get closer they will have moved it up to 70. There's talk about doing that.
I think it's a similar situation in Canada. So if we move there in the next few years, I'll likely be in the same boat.
I retired Jan 1st & I have applied for my Canada pention and been accepted. I will get my first cheque for April 1st. I am 60. There was a plan to move the pention age here, but I think it was overturned. They have not come up with an alternative ruling yet though.
I get a pretty good pention from the province, and my health is worth more than my paycheck was.
I am allowed to work and collect a wage - in addition to my pensions anytime I choose. Many of my friends are doing that right now. The only drawback I have seen so far to retiring early, is the health insurances. I have to pay my own premiums now.
It appears I am traveling to Alberta on Monday for a funeral. I've booked a hotel that has pretty good reviews, but I sure read many horror reviews on other hotels before I booked this one. It made me not want to go anywhere!!!

Hi ladies,
Barbara, Happy Birthday.
Joyce, my bra comes off as soon as I get home from work.
Becca, your sister is very talented. The things people will think up. Absolutely have your son hang out with you. To be waiting all by yourself will be more stressful. Sending good thoughts.
Suebdew, what a close call with the choking. You had an angle on y our shoulder that day my friend.
Machka, a retired secretary or administrative assistant would be perfect for the job or maybe a college student. I’d start asking around. You are so wise to take class. It can only make you a more valuable as an employee and keeps your mind young.
Michele in NC, my mother could decorate cakes. I always has a nice birthday cake. What fun.
Mary, thanks for the kettlebell info.
Karen, good luck on the tax situation. It is all so confusing. Glad the vertigo is gone.
(((Kerri)))
Karen in Virginia, looks like the 27 yo is out. He took her off his whatever it is they use on the on-line dating site. The same of the 37yo. Bummer, but she has a good attitude. My mom was my hero too. I have peeps at Easter in honor of her. I’ve also been known to put one on her grave. She would have gotten a kick out of that.
Heather, good for your son taking the drinking seriously. Maybe he got a wakeup call.
Kelly, I’m so glad you are feeling better and the swelling in your knee is going down. And just in time for the weekend. Yeah!
Pip, Yeah on the lot selling. You are right, people are strange. When we moved into our house, there were peas in the tub. We still laugh about it.
Pam, welcome to the group. This is a fun group with lots of chatting, ideas, encouragement and support.
Lanette, hope you hear soon about a part-time job.
Ladylaura, is the funeral for a family member?
Weather can’t decide what to do today. One minute it is snowing and the next raining. What a mess this storm is going to be. Hope it’s done by tomorrow as I want to go and see if my ring is ready and if I sold any of my jewelry.

My Father was a musician and would have loved those paintings. In fact I love them but have no place to put them in my RV.

New to this thread, so glad to find it!I participated in a popular weight/diet/program thread for several years and found it very motivating. They have since gone in another direction, and I lost all those supporters and friends. I find that posting held me accountable and gave me support. So many of you have been on this thread for a long time! That's awesome.
My March goals:
I would like to start running again. I miss it. Weigh myself weekly, hit the Y 4 days a week and journaling-it helped before and I aim for that again.
Thanks for the opportunity to find a place that will allow me to keep motivated by your stories, and stay as true as I can to my goals!
Take care!

Just speed read the 8 pages of March! Happy birthday to several of you!
The sun is shining today so went for a 2 mile walk.
Our house inspection was yesterday and all seemed to go well. Several small fixes needed. Hopefully the homeowners will respond positively! Did some room measurements and did some mental furniture placement planning. Closing in March and moving in late May!! They are renting back from us and those funds will more than cover our rental thru July of this house.
Not losing weight but maintaining. Just focusing on my accomplishments to this point in the journey. Trying not to focus on that number on the scale but rather how strong I am and how well I eat and how healthy I am.

Hi Sisters, had a good day yesterday. Picked up a hula hoop and a quiet exercycle. Got the bike at our only big second hand store and it had just come in and wasnt even priced yet. I got it cheap-what a bargain! Had to use the last of the visa credit but all goods. Then I went to a costume party last night. Two of my daughter's invited me. Here is a pic of me with my youngest daughter, who had the emergency surgery recently. I'm the one dressed as Wonder Woman. LOL.
I had fun talking to a young man who was into sci fi and fantasy. He came dressed as Obi Wan Kanobe. Wendy

Hula Hoop Week1 completed 4/6 (Did a double hula Hoop today, 15 minutes clockwise and 15 minutes counter clockwise - it is getting easier, too easy tho, my heartrate hovering at around 100 barely counts as exercise at all )
My hula hoop is weighted, 3 pounds and is 36 inches in diameter. Weighted hoops large hoops like this one are purportedly easier to keep up, but give you a better core workout. It took me about one month before I could consistently keep the hoop going for any length of time over 1 minute, then it was like BAM, no problem to keep it up for 10, 20 minutes at a time. I did get banged up in the process, sometimes the bruises on my protruding large hip bones were to painful to hoop for a few days. I had never even tried a hula hoop before January.
This might sound odd, but I had to find a way to be 'mindfully inattentive' in order to get the rhythm I needed to keep the hoop up. I am hoping my motor coordination disabilities don't keep me from being able to do tricks, or other movements while hooping (that is supposed to be even better for the core) but my plan is to just add wrist and ankle weights while hooping as it becomes too easy, and keep trying one move/trick each session. Gotta get on that, it was getting too easy today. Muscle memory has conquered much of my motor coordination difficulties (at least the FINE motor control) in the past, so I'm crossing my fingers.
On the subject of crossing my fingers. The Refrigerator! My DH insists he can remove those endcap tiles without damaging the countertop and that should give us just enough extra space to slide the refrigerator in. I'm dubious. I guess we will see this weekend.

Karen in Virginia,
That's the great thing about this group! We inspire each other! For awhile, I have had a inferior complex about how I had been doing weight wise. Once I stopped comparing myself with you all, and realized I could stand on my own merits, the complexity "that is Becca" subsided.
Oooh this morning was positive! I have more beads! On the pic I have put in my weight. I have a ways to go, but I am positive I will get there. I need a pretty bracelet!
Have a great day all. I like the idea of having control with my own self, during this unpredictable month ahead. I will find strength in that.
