What Is A Fitness Goal You Have That You Don't Typically Share?

It hasn't been too bad since one of the reasons was just cramming too much in..or trying to cram too much into life. With both of my kids in school now, they need help with homework and projects...they're both involved in youth athletics as well and I help coach my 2nd graders flag football team, so I've had things to keep me busy and I'm not feeling so obligated to get out there and do that 20 mile ride or whatever.
I decided I wasn't going to do anything more than 1/4 century events this year either...they're fun and easily doable with a good base of general fitness...I've long loved to ride, but the last bit of 2017 a lot of rides started feeling like a chore...I'm enjoying them more again and bought a rower to supplement and do something else from time to time. My dog is also getting walked more which is good for her.
That makes perfect sense. You should be really proud about that choice It's important to remind ourselves of non-fitness goals (and the added benefit to the lives of ones we care about).

1000 lifetimes wouldn't be enough.0 -
I just want "my" body back. Unfortunately, thanks to a desk job, my way of getting there is going to be dramatically different than it used to be when I was there before.4

1. Learn to swim (almost 40 and I still don't know how)
2. Be able to do a pull-up and a chinup
3. Increase my flexibility
4. Fit into a dress my husband bought me about 7 years ago17 -
I'm a cyclist and am very self-competitive so Strava is a big motivator for me to beat my previous times.....
There's a nasty local one and a half mile hill climb that has a hold on me and even though climbing is the weakest aspect of my cycling it drives me to distraction that I haven't even broken into the top half of the leader board for this segment.
It sounds a pretty pathetic goal to aim to be 10,817th fastest so that's why I haven't shared it until now !!
Currently in 13,574th place of 21,635 and this had better be the year I do it as time is running out.

A fitness goal I don't typically share... Hmmm, I don't think there is one. LOL Maybe I'm an over-sharer?
400 lb deadlift
250 lb squat
170 lb bench6 -

Regularly keep my resting heart rate <50
Move my Vo2 max up higher than 54 (current max)
Complete a sprint and Olympic Triathlon this year
If I shared those goals with my friends and acquaintances I would just get blank stares in return, lol.4 -

Same. I don't share any of my fitness goals because I'm just a reserved person in general, but my friends and family group is very small (by choice) and only 2 of them even workout so I just keep things to myself.2 -
I used to be a gymnast. I'd like to get some of those skills back. But after being diagnosed with fibromyalgia, my goals have changed to being able to get out of bed and making it through a day.9

Ones I dont typically share?
Beat those fitness exams I could NEVER accomplish in school.
Touch my fingers PAST my toes
Do some pull ups
Do full pushups and not modified ones
Run or jog a mile without feeling like I'm gonna die.
I know school was EONS ago, but it would be so cool to beat those types fitness tests and thensome. I was always the scrawny kid who sucked at gym. And, now I'm the pudgy woman who still sucks at gym, LOL. I'm getting better already but sticking with it is probably the real goal here! Here's to 52 weeks of fitness in a row!

I stopped posting fitness activities and information on FB - I have hundreds of friends there that are intensely interested in cat pics and complaining about the weather but are completely indifferent to fitness. I began posting on Instagram and get follows and likes from strangers who at least pretend to be interested in what I'm doing, lol (same username as on MFP )

Same here. Exactly. Once it got to the point where I had everyone on FB blocked, I just deactivated totally. Best. Decision. Ever.0 -
Bry, I love your first two goals. You're an endurance athlete and blessed in the VO2 department, I assume.
I have a FB friend (and RL friend) who does double and triple anvils. He's amazingly blessed; no sports related injuries EVER. I eventually became desensitized to his racing updates (seriously, how many times can you run 50 miles?;p).1 -

How about your head to your toes? ;p
(this is an old picture)
Seriously, 52 weeks is an admirable goal! Good luck!

*Kitten* yeah! That would be awesome! LOL.0 -
I'm in team wanna-do-a-push-up. Pull-ups seem so far out of the realm of possibility at the moment that I don't even have a goal there. Really, I just want to keep developing my all-around fitness, and maybe get modestly good at a couple of things. And still be lifting weights when I'm 90.4

I edited it to be less obnoxious, lol.

That's worth being obnoxious about. Impressive.2 -
I have a number of goals this year. Since Nov 2016 I've lost 5st7 (35kg) and am now aiming to maintain.
In terms of fitness my strength goals are to do unassisted dips and pull ups. I can currently do both with bands, but unassissted dips are a lot more realistic than pull ups!
I also am aiming to complete a virtual race each month from 5k up to half marathon distance. I've completed ones for January and February and signed up for one in March.2 -
Normally I don't share because the people I know tend to disbelieve/discount and I'm tired of proving I'm on the path.2
-
To be able to do a push up that isn't on my knees
To run on the treadmill for more than just 2 minutes. Even if it's 3 minutes I'll be happy with that8 -
Thanks everyone for your participation. I don't create discussions often so to see so many people chiming in feels great to see, love it! So many inspiring and awesome goals too...9
-
I forgot to mention the one goal that I might actually be able to accomplish this year: get back into Xterra racing.1
-
-
Lift my wife and carry her across the threshold for our 25th anniversary this year.28
-
YES. That is exactly the advice I give to people considering triathlon!!!!
Haha. I can get my toes behind my head ;p
My knees are semi double jointed though. I've pulled my hamstrings and glutes stretching (at the same time). Most recently, my hammy (forward split, front foot flexed, back leg bending upward, trying to reach back to grab foot of behind leg). Sounds impressive but kind of sucks.
This is also old:
