Round 8 for me (6 full rounds plus 3 days), and I'm getting smarter every day. I'm also kinder to myself, more reasonable, more forgiving, and just generally better. I think I'm going to track my calories forever, and I'm okay with that. I'm also going to continue to post here forever, too. Maybe I'll move to a maintenance thread, I guess, but I hope you get the picture. This group has been life-changing for me.

3/19 = 205.2 (-1.4). BOUNCE BACK™. I'm going to differentiate this loss with everyone's favorite rainbow unicorn, the WHOOSH™. I had a big gain on the last day of round 34 (2.2 lbs), and this is my body beginning to recover from that. I ate well yesterday, was under calories, drank plenty of water, and under on sodium. I have basketball tonight, which means a trip to the gym as well. Good start to this challenge!
3/20 = 204.6 (-0.6). Another BOUNCE BACK™. Good day at basketball yesterday, ate well, drank enough water, good on sodium. The sins of Sunday have been erased; it only took two days this time. I can pretty much predict my weight trend every night at this point based on my behavior during the day (thanks mostly to for tracking). I know a bunch of you have probably reached that point, but it's still pretty cool. Missed the gym last night, so I'll be lifting weights and doing HIIT tonight.
3/21 = 204.8 (+0.2). I felt a little out of control yesterday. Snacks were flying my way (some of them guided by my hand), and my wife bought me dinner (really hard to track), but I think I did okay. I was probably over a lot in salt, though (teriyaki is the devil). My wife was home early, so the gym didn't happen, either. The next stage in my development is motivating myself to get to the gym on non-basketball days (this upcoming Monday, for example). It's easy on basketball days, but mostly "miss" when basketball doesn't happen. I'm thinking of trying SL 5×5, but I need to make sure my knees can handle all the exercises before I get too excited.
3/22 = 203.8 (-1.0). And that's a WHOOSH™. Inching ever closer to onederland, I'm at an all-time low (since restarting MFP). Met all my eating goals yesterday, and snacked on fruit instead of crap last night. It's raining all day today, but it's basketball tonight. I will not miss it, nor will I miss lifting weights with my wife. Motorcycle life!
3/23 = 202.0 (-1.8). I had a really good night at basketball. It's relatively normal for me to have a good drop when I play. I ate within calories (didn't eat any of my 1250 exercise calories back), was over on sodium, and was a little light on water, at least for a basketball night. I have a really nice dinner out tonight; going to try to keep portions under control. I'm also trying not to get too excited, but ONEDERLAND is within reach. It will be my goal for next challenge.
3/24 = 204.8 (+2.8). Before I understood my pattern this would have been incredibly upsetting. It was a cheat meal. I did the best I could with it, and at least it wasn't 4.0 lbs (which had happened before!!!). It was tasty, salty, and fantastic, and I have only minor regrets (as I avoid these situations as much as possible). Basketball and the gym are happening this morning, and I have 4 days to work this off. Even if this challenge ended today I would be 1.8 lbs down, which is pretty great. I'm hopeful. Taking 80 ounces of water to basketball today.
3/25 = 204.8 (+/-0.0). Played basketball, ate back a little less than half my exercise calories. Went over my salt intake with dinner again (pizza, kale salad). I'm hoping to get back on track after the cheat meal two days ago, and that today's weigh-in (no drop after basketball) is an additional consequence. My brother-in-law (personal trainer) is going to teach me tonight proper form on the exercises I need to do SL 5×5. I'll be starting it this week while basketball is off for spring break.
3/26 = 204.4 (-0.4). My brother-in-law (not the personal trainer) asked my wife and I to be godparents for my newborn nephew last night, so i had a little unexpected celebration. I was below maintenance, but did not eat super healthy (high on sodium, again). I also forgot to fill my water bottle and take it with me at the beginning of the day, which made it really hard to keep up with my normal water intake. My brother-in-law the personal trainer flaked out on me regarding the heavy lifting help. I may hire a personal trainer short-term to make sure I'm doing things right. I may also just get started and hope for the best. We'll see. Tough weekend eating-wise.
3/27 = 202.8 (-1.6). BOUNCE BACK™. I'm almost back down to my pre-weekend weight, which feels really good to me. I'm also on-track to get myself into position where ONEDERLAND is a realistic (if slightly difficult) challenge goal for Round 36. I ate REALLY healthy yesterday; it feels like these really good drops often follow those types of days (something else to pay attention to). No basketball for me until next Thursday, so I'm going to get started with my "new thing" tonight - SL 5x5. I'm a little concerned about not having the proper form on a couple of my exercises (particularly because of my knee issues), but I'm going to give it a go anyway. I've literally never tried a squat or a deadlift, so I'll just focus on form (and check out a couple of YouTube videos or something).

@Amjcance Yes, finding the tipping point between enough and not enough/too much is a key factor no matter what plan you are following.
@31flavors Trust the process! I bounced around the 140’s for FOUR MONTHS before breaking through on the last day of last round! Hang in there!
@puddlegoober Definitely get a trainer! You can really hurt yourself with improper form!

After my dentist appointment I stopped and got Jimmy John’s Unwich for lunch. It was pretty good until I realized I was trying to eat my still numb lip!

@quiltingjaine - My darn little brother-in-law is a personal trainer, but he flaked on me on Sunday. I "know" proper form because he showed me (and I've seen it), I've just never done it before myself. I would go super light weight if I did it.

19: 214.2... I will not beat myself up about this. Instead, I'm looking at this as feedback about what currently isn't working. Hormones play a part in this journey in multiple ways, and cravings are a LOT more difficult to reign in the day or 2 leading up to TOM. So, I've been considering what I can do to adjust my regular eating style to allow for my regularly scheduled hormonal fluctuations during this time of month (and ovulation time). Eating at maintenance and cutting out IF for a couple of days is my new game plan. My goal is to prevent the munchie monster from going overboard, which is what happened last night. If I allow myself a bit of leeway, then I feel like I'll be less tempted to overdo it. Once TOM starts, I feel better going back to IF and calorie deficits.

Posting in the morning. I plan to do a hike today, but also to go to a cocktail tasting party so today might not be ideal from a diet perspective. I drink so rarely, I can't handle much alcohol but the party just sounds fun.

3/19 – 65.9kgs. I’m not surprised considered how much I ate during the weekend. I need to get back on track with losing weight and ensuring I’ll still meet my goal by 30 April. Halfway mark so cant give up now! 14,138 steps. C25k.
3/20 – 65.9kgs. Lifted and 10,475 steps. Ate within my macros/calories.
3/21 – 65.8 kgs. Lifted, did C25k. 9,235 steps. Ate over my macros/calories as I was just craving for junk!
3/22 – 65.8kgs. 4th day doing IF and I’m really enjoying it. I’m actually surprised I could wait until noon to have my first meal.
3/23 – 66.5kgs. Too much chocolate and other junk yesterday plus I ate out for dinner too. I’m not surprised but disappointed with myself more. I’m back to setting daily goals for myself to achieve because I found that really motivated me. I slacked off for a few days there and look what happened! Yesterday I got in 13,136 steps. Didn’t drink 2 litres of water though so I would think thats the reason why I ate more than normal.
3/24 – 66.7kgs. Yesterday I only did 8,766 steps. Today: 16,244 steps.

3/19 - 88.4kg - ate well. Stayed under calorie goal which is easy when you don't have an appetite. Managed to walk a bit (2kms or so) while running errands.
3/20 - 88.0kg - stayed under calories and recorded everything. Haven't been sleeping well, tho, so very little energy.
3/21 - 88.0kg - 30 min walk, 50cal over goal, not much sleep again. Energy's a bit better.
3/22 - 87.3kg - 25min yoga felt good to get back on the mat, within calories, sleeping a bit better. Getting there....
3/23 - 87.3kg - 45min yoga. Can now do poses i couldn't a month ago. Yay core strength! 100cal over for the day. Yay wine!
3/24 - 86.7kg - rest day. Stayed within calories but had chippies. They were yummy.
3/25 - 87.3kg - not unusual for me to jump back up. As long as the overall trend is downward, no need to panic. 50min yoga. Ate well and within calories. Feeling good.
3/26 - 87.0kg - Spoke too soon. Think i overdid the activity yesterday so today I could barely move off the couch. 70cal over goal.
3/27 85.8kg - Still no energy. Think I've got a sinus infection. Stayed within calories (actually calorie counting is helping me eat a reasonable amount or i don't think I'd be eating much right now.)

3/19: 223lbs. I decided to cut my calories this round to see if my weight starts trending in the right direction. Today was a good day overall. I kept my calories below 1800. Walked 10000 steps and worked out for 30 minutes.
3/20: 222lbs. I’m glad to see the scale finally drop a pound. I ate about 2200 calories today, but I walked 11000 steps and had a 35 minutes weight lifting session.
3/21: 221.5lbs. 2200 calories, which is still more calories than I originally planned for this challenge. 12000 steps and a 40 minute workout.
3/22: 222lbs.
3/23: 222lbs. Walked 9000 steps and lifted weights for 45 minutes.
3/24: 222lbs. Walked 10000 steps and completed a 30 minute workout.
3/25: 222.5lbs. Walked 9000 steps and lifted weights for 25 minutes. The last few days haven’t been great in terms of eating. I'm hoping to get back on track tomorrow.
3/26: 223lbs. Walked about 8500 steps and worked out for 30 minutes. 1800 calories for the day. I want to get past these weight fluctuations and lose a pound by the end of the challenge.
3/27: I forgot to weigh this morning. I walked 11000 steps and worked out for 25 minutes. I ate about 2200 calories.

3/19 - 63.7kg (+1.1kg) - I actually just laughed when this number flashed up on the scale. I ate everything in sight yesterday including a high-sodium, creamy pasta late last night. I also drank very little water. Should see this drop back down in the next few days. Still keeping my goal at 61kg for this round as I spent a lot of last round in the 61s.
3/20 - 63.2 (-0.5kg) - I got surprised with a piece of cake last night (and I don't do well saying no to surprise food!) but was still under calories. Still annoyed at myself for the weekend though. Grrrrr.
3/21 - 62.5kg (-0.7kg) - Getting better. I would like to be back down to my pre-weekend weight of 61.6kg before this weekend comes around. Had a nice walk yesterday, kept under my calories. I'm presenting curator talks all day today so probably won't have much energy for any exercise after work today. Brought my trainers just in case I do.
3/22 - 62.2kg (-0.3kg) - Still heavier than my lowest weight from last round. Weekend fast approaching, TOM due next round. I feel like my target date of 29th April to reach my ultimate goal weight is becoming unachievable. After 29th April I've got 3 weeks of exhibition install at work and I find it very difficult to stay on calories during installs and usually see my weight bump back up a few kilos. Feeling a bit demoralised.
3/23 - 62.0kg (-0.2kg) - I refuse to have a repeat of last weekend when I ate everything in sight. That is the old me. This is the new me. Pre-logged my food for Fri/Sat/Sun with a little room to enjoy a cheese plate and a few wines with my best friend who I rarely get to see.
3/24 - 61.7kg (-0.3kg) - Didn't save my post properly. Grrr.
3/25 - 62.0kg (+0.3kg) - Had a lovely day yesterday with my best mate, but it was pretty carb/wine/nibble heavy. I set my kitchen on fire this morning (oops) so I won't be able to cook today or tomorrow probably. Not an excuse to go crazy though!
3/26 - 62.7kg (+0.7kg) - Weekend blip, hopefully be back down to 62 by the end of the round.
3/27 - 62.2kg (-0.5kg) - I seem to have dodged a bullet with my weigh in despite a bit of a binge last night. I was hungry and my partner cooked and put some stuff on my plate I avoid (chips and garlic bread with lasagne people, he's a carb monster and built like a greyhound) so I just took the excuse and ran with it for the rest of the night.
3/28 - 61.5kg (-0.7kg) - Very happy with today's weigh in as I am -0.1kg on my goal for the round! Bit up and down though. I'm down 2.2kg on my start weight, down 1.1kg on my end weight for last round as well, but my average weight across the round is up 0.2kg compared to last round. IDK. Yay...?

Since getting under the magic 140lb I don't feel as focused - guess as my clothes all fit nicely and I do feel so much better in myself - but I do still want to lose a bit more weight and reduce my body fat % (I get a check in at the gym every month!) so need to refocus.
3/19 -143.20lb - same as I was last Monday - but not a surprise as out with friends Saturday, full Sunday roast and wasn't properly focused last week hence my round 35 goal to focus! Food all prepped, water bottle at my side and should make 12k steps today as walk planned for tonight...... Here we go
3/20 - 139.10lb - a 4.1lb "whoosh"! Great food day and plenty of water yesterday, 13k+ steps and feel SSOOOO much better! Whenever I go a bit "off piste" for a few days, I don't feel good for it in myself, my energy levels drop - makes me wonder why we ever do it and why it seems such a good idea at the time - guess this is the age old question eh ? Food prepped for tdoay, water bottle at my side and gym PT session tonight
3/21 - 138.40lb - down 0.70lb and still in the right direction Unexpectedly out for dinner with a friend tonight but already planned what I'll have so I will only be 150 calories over for the day. Will be carb heavier than my normal meals (its Pizza - albeit it a Pizza Express Leggera pizza!) but it shouldn't leave too much damage. Will have plenty of water today and hope the scales aren't up tomorrow morning!
3/22 - 138.10lb - down 0.30lb - I DID IT!! Went out for a pizza with a friend, stuck totally to my plan and still managed to record a loss today. This must be a turning point!!! All should be good today and tomorrow but next hurdle is the weekend - in London with my daughter on Saturday so we'll eat out and then the usual weekend distractions and the Sunday roast .........Hanging in there .....
3/23 - 138lb - only 0.1lb down but carb heavier (within calories) dinner last night than usual (home made burgers) and a tough weights session at the gym so all good ....

3/26 - 140.70lb. In London Saturday and ate at a Brazilian rodizio BBQ restaurant so a total meat overdose. Sunday roast yesterday evening too although did get out for a short 12mile cycle yesterday - first one in ages! Probably not enough water either..... Weekends are never my friend - need to get to grips with it! And now going to be away in a hotel from Thursday night for 10nights - hubby working away and close to where the girls cheerleading comp is at the weekend so staying up there with him and for the next week too as kids are off school for Easter. So a week of eating out and no scales either - what could possibly go wrong eh ?? Going to be a challenge but one I am going to accept! Still a couple of days left of this round to make a difference too.
3/27 - 138.10lb - 2.6lb overnight. Knew I would get a large drop today but still amazed by daily weight fluctutuations.

3/21: 112.8kg/248.7lbs – How on earth?! I must have been holding on to some water weight here! Today is my rest day and calves are feeling very tight – will probably get them on the foam roller tonight. Food is going extremely well, I would even go as far as saying I have created some habits which are enabling me to do so well. Also… I’m now under 250lbs!! WOOOO. Time to push on and keep this down.
3/22: 113.5kg/250.2lbs – Eurrrgh why did I think yesterday was correct. Feeling a bit low today, need to harvest some energy from somewhere.

3/27: 112.9kg/248.9lbs – Great day eating yesterday, restricted myself within reason. My body is feeling good too. Clocking up more miles for this marathon and still squeezing the gym in too. Let’s hope for an even bigger WOOSH tomorrow.

3/19 276.9 Not starting off great but all good I know it's water walked a lot yesterday and was under calorie goal
3/20 275.1 Love it when the water weight goes away changed my exercise this week instead of 3 cardio / 2 strength reversing them as would like more muscle definition so 3 days of lifting with light cardio and 2 days of heavy cardio see how that route works.
3/21 275.4 A tad up but still happy got a day of lifting and some cardio if I can get to the gym got 2 inch snow already and still coming down but roads look clear
3/22 275.7 moved wrong direction but actually went over calories yesterday not by a lot but first time in a long time be nice if weather would decide between winter and spring so can go hiking more. Going to do cardio day at gym did get measured yesterday at dr and gained 3 inch on my chest so lifting weights does work.

Nothing works unless you have a sustained calorie deficit over time. Anything will work if you have a sustained calorie deficit over time.
Motivation is overrated. What you need is education, willingness to eat less, a good plan, and discipline to stick to it.
According to Big Fat Myths: When You Lose Weight, Where Does the Fat Go? which is an interesting perspective on "diet" 148oz / 9.25 lbs of food/water/oxygen a day but depending on how efficient everything processes we don't operate on a perfect 24 hour cycle to use all that so you get those fluctuations. I think that is semi comforting to keep in mind we are not robots and CICO doesn't operate at perfect 24 hour scale either.5 -

3/20 - 250.0 (+1.2)/ In all honesty, I knew this would happen, and I think this might be the case for tomorrow. I haven't been eating well since last Thursday. But tomorrow is a new day. I plan to workout tomorrow before work. I'm ready to forgive myself and change the direction.

3/23 = 157.0 Traveling to my parents’ house for the weekend. Their house is full of everything I ate growing up, SO I will really have to be strong to maintain through the weekend. I do not want that stuff. I do NOT want that stuff. I DO NOT WANT THAT STUFF!!!
3/24 = No scales today at my parents’ house, but I was pleased with how I ate yesterday. So far, so good! They are impressed with my weight loss, so perhaps there won’t be as much unintentional sabotage on anyone’s part.
3/25 = No scales again today. I did well eating yesterday and even made time to go to the gym with my 87 year old dad! He hadn’t been in months, but wanted to join me. Mom and I went shopping. She was shocked to see me with my new body in much smaller size clothes. It felt SO good! Dad said, “you must be the thinnest you’ve been in a really long time.” I told him, “I’m the thinnest since 1983—way before children!”
3/26 = 155.4 I LOST WEIGHT at my folks’ house!!!!!!!! This is a huge accomplishment for me!
3/27 = 156.2 I was expecting a little bounce after a five pound loss last week. This was not from calories, so it will be ok in time.
