Rori: Your evening sounds like an excellent plan for a cold and stormy night. Soup in the slow cooker and a great old movie are very nice, indeed.
Rebecca: Prayers for your middle son's wife. I hope her health issues are resolved soon. :flowerforyou:
(((Heather))) Sending good thoughts for the sale of your home so that you can move to Hove.
Felicia: we haven't actually been to Bob's Red Mill but we've heard it has a grand store and also a restaurant. They're located in Milwaukie, about half way between us, give or take. DH has been feeling rough for the past month or so, and I don't think he's up to the adventure of going there just now, but it is on my bucket list. Bob's Red Mill Natural Foods, 13521 SE Pheasant Ct, Milwaukie, OR 97222.
Michelle: Thanks for the information about Bob's Red Mill coupons! I didn't know anything about them. :flowerforyou:
Machka: I'm so happy to hear how well the hospital is taking care of your DH. Sending good thoughts for his recovery.Your comments about how you take care of your health are eloquent and on target. I aadmire your choice to stay as healthy as you can.
SueBDew in TX: I'm so glad that your DH wasn't seriously hurt in his fall. I'm happy to know he'll be getting someone else to do that job.
We've both been active for the past couple of days & DH is tired and went to bed at about 8:30. I hope he sleeps well and feels good to go tomorrow. Nothing is currently planned for the day except that we'll try to put a little fun into it.

Suebdew in TX thank you on the great-grands pic. They are barely a year a part in age. Mom's gonna be busy
Jack fell today too. Floyd, our next door neighbor, sold two of the llama's and they were pinning them up to load into the buyer's trailer. The younger of the two females bolted, Jack grabbed her with both arms around her neck but she had too much steam and she just knocked him flat on his rear. Jack is tall and skinny and has no padding back there. Poor guy is moving very slowly tonight. He has had his left knee replaced twice and now its worse than ever, the knee cap has slipped and it two inches lower than it should be. His knee is pretty swollen, he's gonna be feeling this for a few days.
Continuing good thoughts and prayers for Conner.

Hi Gals,
Penny – thanks for the song snippet!
Machka- great news and tough to think hubby will be living in Rehab for an undetermined amount of time… but he is making amazing progress. I am so glad to hear your co-workers were so considerate.
Kate – great pictures! Are the girls sisters? Cousins?
Lisa – great view in the rear view mirror!
Heather – the look on your friends face gave her away as the difficult one. Oh dear !!!!! the buyer is a _____ !!!
Kelly – adorable!
Rori – I’m hoping Boston is lovely – graduation is in the new England patriot’s stadium, and it was snowing 2 days ago…. So it has 14 days to straighten up, cool ok, but no snow, and little to no rain, and I’ll be happy!!!
Machka – all you are going through and you manage to write a inspiring post as well ! You are amazing. I was going to whine a bit, but you gave me a big dose of perception - thanks!
I went to my DM (darling mom)’s today and took my nephew out to lunch, I’m trying to do it once every 2 weeks or more often, it is his dad with terminal cancer. He will be the only heir and will have to deal with everything as my brother won’t put anything in writing, so I am doing “training” with my nephew today was terms – just learning what things mean – cremation, burial, dnr, power of attorney for health care, financial power of attorney, and funeral vs celebration of life…Also he did not know you have to pay for a funeral/burial/cremation…. We also talked about the value of putting things in writing, and what would be best as a first, second, third choice if he could get his dad to do it. I had all the forms printed out. I was so proud of him, it was a very “facts are facts” discussion, not all emotional and crazed… He seemed to appreciate that we could just talk about it.
While there I found out that my Mom is sick and feeling very bad, she has a pace maker and thinks it is going wonky, so she has an appointment for Tuesday with the cardiologist, I’ll be going.
This week will be busy, Monday – friend for breakfast at 6:30am then gardening, Tuesday cardiologist in the afternoon, 12 coming for dinner at 7pm, Wednesday a early morning gardening job, and dinner out with friends, Thursday, a morning gardening job, Friday -12 folks from my garden club coming to the kids camp I work at for a garden work day, I provide snacks and coffee, so will be making coffee cake. But the laundry is done, and I’ve started on the do-aheads for dinner on Tuesday and Friday’s snack.
Smiles

Machka in Oz What an inspiration, I'm humbled by your dedication and determination. I can't pretend to know how you feel having not been in the situation, but having your world turned upside down in a split second is something none of us ever hope to face. I hope that if I'm ever faced with a such a situation I will remember you and your grace and strength. Biggest big (((hugs))) to you and I continue to pray for both you and your husband.

Dana, I see no reason why you couldn't plant the irises now. They might not bloom this year, if you disturb them, but they shouldn't die. I've moved mine, treated them kind of rough, broke off the scraggly, dead looking parts of the tubers, or just cut the tubers back as they were getting too large, and mine have all lived just fine. They don't always bloom, I suspect that is because of the rude treatment they got, but they certainly didn't die! lol
Machka, excellent philosophy! I'm going to give that a try....
Darn, can't remember whose great grands are Layla and ....... the sweet little blonde, but, oh my! just too much cute for one photo! (good memory, but it's woefully short!!)
Sue, goodness! Sometimes it surprises me what has to happen to men before they figure out they shouldn't be doing some things! lol Mine is getting better, but.....
Disappointing day today, got up, the sun was shining, it was beautiful! Around 2 p.m., the heavens opened up and it rained like crazy! Most annoying. On the bright side, we had three birthdays at work this month (13th, 14th and 18th) so instead of buying cakes for each of them, the boss decided to take us all out for dinner! Spouses are always included in extra activities, so it was a pleasant evening out. I'm sure I went over calories, but I did sort of try to keep it within reason! Sure was good, had french onion soup and caesar salad, maybe not the best choice, but very enjoyable. When we got home, I went and brushed my teeth right away, so there will not be any grazing tonight! Feeling happy about that! Still have not heard anything from child in regards to my plan for the inlaws at his wedding. I don't know quite what to think. Maybe he's tried phoning the guy and is waiting to hear back from him... Well, I came up with what I think is a perfectly good solution, he's just going to have to accept that his father and I can't take care of them and enjoy ourselves at the same time. And then we'd have to cut the evening short too, and the wedding is just far enough out of town that it wouldn't be practical to drop the inlaws off and then go back. I know I need to stop stewing about it, but that's easier said than done! Oh well, it will all work out.
Hope everyone has a great day/night!

Back again. I hopped back in at pg.59 so once again know that I have missed a lot. Seems to be a common theme for me this not keeping up but I am going to be easy on myself this time around. Trying to do things when and if I have energy for them.
Penny - I try to get my Vitamin D from being outside if I can. Living in Canada though I decided to take my Dr's advice and have been taking a D3 supplement for a few years. Growing up we were given our daily dose of cod liver oil and Burdock's Blood Bitters.
Heather - Congratulations on your book. I have not yet got the book but it is on my list.
I am sorry to hear of your buyer's buyer pulling out. How frustrating!
KJ - Joaquin made me smile. So adorable.
Janetr - Those little face make me so Happy. Great photo of Mia and baby Layla
Machka - Thank you for keeping us informed. It is a long journey for you and your DH. Please make sure to lean on family and friends when you need. Keeping you both in my prayers.
My joy in the last week has been spending time with sweet Harmony while her Mom worked a temp job. We coloured, danced, created, walked to the park, played on the swings, listened to the "beautiful bird songs", made lunch together and then I would take her to school. I even was invited to her "Special Day". She introduced me as her "Favourite Grandma".
I am still working on finding a marriage counselor that my benefits will cover. I still do not have clarity on what I exactly want. I picked up The Mindfulness Manual by Prevention. I hope it helps me. Larry seems to have decided that 36 years is too long to just throw away. He seems to be trying but once trust has been broken so badly the road back is pretty bumpy. We are both trying I think. He seems happier than he has been in a long while. Yes, I am being careful.
Tomorrow we are going to Medicine Hat to watch Keira compete. I am not sure how many other dances we will watch. Tonight we travelled to Vulcan where he bought a 1940 Pontiac Coupe that he wants to Rod out.
I went to lunch today with some cousins and my sister. It was good.
Sunday I am going for lunch and a movie with 2 ladies that I worked with for a large number of years. We are going to "I'm Pretty". I think it should be good for a laugh or two. I am so looking forward to this.
I am expecting a tax refund of $1000+. I'm going to put most of it on my credit card and keep a small amount for fun.
I have been taking Chico for 2-3 short walks in a day. These are manageable with my cane.
Monday I had the cortisone injections on either side of my spine. Ouch! I didn't do much for the rest of the day. Harmony was able to spend that day with her Auntie Jheri.
Today I spent some time on the deck with my DBIL and watched Robins.
Still working on finding my Joy

Morning, all...
Another pound down... carefully got off the scale first, and then did a happy dance once more...I know there will be a backlash to a certain extent from the more rapid weight loss this week, and my body will bounce up again, but I'm sure I can be forgiven for celebrating a couple days of quick weight loss. Nearing the three-month mark on the Dukan Diet (with minor modifications), and it has been enormously successful for me. 21 pounds gone as of this morning!
All moved in, took over one bedroom for my office, and the other spare bedroom is now my arts & craft room. Used that particular one as it gets very good light all day long, so will be perfect for painting, as well as sewing. Even with four bins of quilt material and art supplies, still plenty of room for a futon/couch, so can still be used as a spare bedroom for visitors. Corey put together three, six-foot tall bookcases for me yesterday (on sale at Big Lots!, $29 each) one for my office, one for my craft room, and one for the second living room, which we've made into a reading room. He gets the garage, which has a workroom, as well, tables already in and everything.
This morning, we're going to go look at a pedestal table, (my favorite) six chairs and a hutch, if they're in good shape. Plan to use the hutch as a TV stand, actually. Here's pics of them... sorry they're so big, too lazy to re-size them this morning. We have to be there at 9 a.m. Fingers crossed--they certainly look good in the pics. The only thing I'm worried about is whether my size 14 butt will fit in those chairs! It's about a third of the price of a new set. Not to mention the new sets that are reasonably priced are all counter height here. I hate bar stools, and tall chairs... my knees do NOT take well to my feet hanging in mid-air. I climb down from the buggerty things, and I'm limping for an hour.
Love y'all! Lisa in Arkansas...

Hi everyone
Machla - thanks for your inspiring words to all of us, I am so.... glad your husband is being treated correctly. I hope you are getting the respite you need as well
Lisa - Congrats on losing - I do like the look of the pedestal table
KJLAmore - what a cutie - I can see why he makes you smile
Terry - I just love love the bracelet - very subtle
Heather - Have finished reading your book and I was disappointed when I came to the last page as I wanted to even know more about the little girl . Sorry to hear that the sell fell through
Karen - what a gorgeous picture - thankyou for sharing
Evie - Perhaps you can call him, he may be feeling confused and needs to hear from you to discuss it. I think that you have done the right thing. Your son is getting married, you would want to enjoy every moment of it.
Kim - I am glad your mum is getting on top of it - My MIL has a defib in her arm, so if the heart stops, it gives her an electric shot
Janet - Hope Jack feels better soon and no serious long term damage has been done to his knee
Rye - Gorgeous picky of your *kitten* cat
I spent the day being chauffeur to Granddaughter, first taking her up for her driving lesson, then went food shopping whilst she was with her teacher. her teacher asked me to take her out for hill starts this afternoon and tomorrow. Got her down to the doctors to get her flu injection done. Making my husband do the driving lesson with her tomorrow.
Tomorrow - we are going up to the rental as the painter says that he will be finished by lunchtime. We need to collect the keys from him
Off to cook dinner

Good morning all! Happy Saturday! Up early to get DYS off to work. We are still a one car family. Got the news that his jeep needs an entire new frame! The mechanics got it up on the lift to see what work needed to be done and the entire frame broke in two. *sigh* To be expected. Michigan winters/road salt are killers on cars. It is cheaper for DYS to have the jeep rebuilt than to get another car; so the mechanics are hunting down a frame (used, but in great condition) from a sunny, warm location; it will cost about $300 to have it shipped to their shop, then a total of about $4,500 to rebuild and repair the entire thing. Glad DYS is a working man and it is his money and not mine. DH thinks he is crazy to pay it, but at 24 yrs old and living in a resort town; a Jeep Wrangler with the convertible top is pretty much the dream vehicle. DYS had named his jeep "Henry Jones" after the great fictional adventurer, Indiana Jones. But since it is being rebuilt, he told me he needed a new name as "Henry Jones has died". We decided on Phoenix, because of it rises from the ashes to begin life again. I am going to get him a phoenix to hang/sit somewhere in his car (he doesn't like key chains).
Lisa- My dinner table is a pedestal table with leaves. Heavy oak; not as wonderfully ornate as the one you are looking at. I am positive your size 14 butt will fit in the chairs! lol(My size 18 butt fits in ours)
Janet- Mia and Layla! Look at that look on Mia's face! She looks absolutely in love with little sis!
Karen VA-Olivia!How is she doing with baby Phoenix? If she hasn't warmed up yet, I am sure she will. As a childcare provider I have seen all kinds of sibling relationships. Most sibs become quite close and protective (older ones), even though the younger ones are "toy takers" and "tower destroyers". lol I did have one pair of sibs, two boys, and the older one completely ignored his baby brother for the first two years. Completely uninterested in him. My big sister was the baby for five years until I came along. It is well known that she "hated" me. When we got older, she referred to me as the "usurper". We became very close in our teens (teens for me, early twenties for her) and remain so, even though she lives in Florida, now.
Suebdew - So glad to hear everyone in your family seems to be on the mend. lol I think of you and Cathy from Arlington often as I think of visiting Joaquin in Texas this year. Joaquin and I, both, enjoyed our time with you ladies! YOU brought the food that started it all! Those blueberries! I think that kicked off his "real food" eating. Yummm!
Machka- Thank you so much for your very wise words on the mindset for life. It really resonated with me, this morning! We really need to approach all obstacles as doing it because we care for ourselves. We spend time with loved ones because they are important in our lives, we exercise and make good choices because we are important, we keep learning because our brain health is important to us, we keep working/work harder because our quality of life is important to us...I often repeat the phrase "I am doing this because I can." It works for me when I am doing yard work that I don't particularly like, or exercising, or working extra hours. "I am doing this because I can- and I want to be able to do this for many years." I don't want to relinquish tasks, hobbies, decisions based on my abilities. I am sure that day will come; but I want to be the 80 year old woman who still "does for herself". Oh well, another long reply! Sending you warm thoughts and big hugs
Terry- Your chain mail jewelry is so beautiful! You are right about the clear pearls; I didn't notice them until you said something. I wonder what a different colored link would look like added to chosen areas? Maybe a darker metal or a copper? Have you ever done anything like that?
Sharon- My heart is with you as you deal with Larry. Whether you choose to work it out, or not. Please, listen to your own intuition (as well as your heart). I know he has said he wants to work it out, and you later found text messages to "the other woman" that told a different story. Sending you love and strength.
Well, I have been reading and writing for more than an hour at this thread. No car to run errands, but a dirty house! LOL Love and hugs to all of you! ttfn xoxoxo KJ (Kelly)

Trish, Michele, Rori Terry, and all you other beautiful friends - thank you so much for reading my book. It has been so heart warming to me to see that people are making a connection with it.
Can I ask again for you to put a review on Amazon. Just a few words will do. It doesn't have to be deathless prose.
Some of you may have a book group that might be interested, or a professional organisation that works with young people, or mental health. My intention was to "bear witness for the child".
This thread has sustained me throughout the whole long process of getting it out there. Well over two years from start to finish!
I can't thank you enough.
Karen - Is Olivia jealous? My older son was awful and both my elder grandchildren went through it. Poor things. I felt sorry for them.
Janetr - Ouch, that knee!
Machka - Well said. If you wait for motivation you will wait for ever. Just do it. No exceptions. I continue to hold you in my heart.
Love Heather UK xxxxxxx

Heather and Kelly I will post a sad Olivia picture later today that will break your hearts. She is only 14 months old & she had such a rough start in life - it does seem patently unfair that she has to share Mommy already. Fortunately Katie figured out exactly what to do. Daddy and I helped get her and Phoenix settled in while the biological grandmas took Olivia to a park (where sad little girl pictures were taken). Olivia fell asleep in the car on the way home. She had already had a long nap earlier, so didn't really need another nap. Katie asked for her to be brought in to her while she was nursing Phoenix. Still very sleepy, Olivia was tucked into Mommy's free side and they tandem nursed. After that (a sight to behold) Olivia was happy again & was reaching across to touch her brother in a gentle way while they were both nursing. Wow. what an amazing experience... Olivia now seems to be taking it in stride, but will have to be watched very closely to be sure she doesn't scratch at or swipe at Phoenix's face, as she seems to be going through that stage. I let her know the other day I wasn't crazy about having my face swiped at, so now she fakes it and then shakes her head "no" while looking to see my reaction. She's a pistol.
Heather I can't wait to read your book, haven't ordered it yet but will soon, maybe even today. Sorry about your buyer's buyers audacious decision to withdraw. No wonder you are in shock. A sadist with a sick sense of humor invented your home buying system.
Karen from VA in CA7 -
Allie, I use bio freeze on my back when it it sore. You can get it at medical supply stores and chiropractors usually carry it too. Heather what an inspiration you are but don’t feel you have to always be strong. Allow yourself to be sad about the road your life has taken. It’s so hard and it’s ok to feel overwhelmed. With me, if I don’t acknowledge the hurt and am always strong, I end up having a breakdown as feelings can only be held in for so long. Best to address them early. (((Hugs)))
Kelly, I’m making myself clean house before I try the new colored beads in the bracelet. I could only find a light green in the right size at Michaels. I had ordered the pearl ones. I’m hoping that the green will be dark enough to show up clearly. If not, I’ll just order them . They weren’t expensive. I’m trying to get some items done so I can have something to photograph for my website.
Hope everyone has a great day.

Here on MFP, we see many threads on losing motivation or having bad days and struggling to stay on track etc.
I've been doing some thinking about that lately.
The last thing in the world I have wanted to do for the past month is live the life I'm currently living ... going to the hospital every single day for hours to sit with my husband. There have been many days where I've just wanted to pack a suitcase and fly away from it all or go to sleep and wake when it's over. But every single day I get up and go to the hospital, and try to do the other things involved in keeping our lives together. It's not optional.
When I lost my weight, I approached it in a similar way.
I might not want to log my food and get out for some sort of exercise every single day, but it is something I just did. I got up, brushed my teeth, had my shower, caught the bus to work, ate within my calorie limit, logged my food, exercised, went to the university, did my homework. Losing weight was important to me, so I made the mechanisms to lose weight 'not optional' ... and that's what worked for me.
Machka in Oz
Thank you Machka, for your inspirational post. We aren't in control of all things in our lives, but it doesn't mean we have no choices and facing challenges with small, sequential, consistent actions along with good humor and forgiveness is truly the way to go for me and thanks to Machka's post I was very humbly reminded of that.
So now, off I go for a walk and some positive reflections.
You all continue to inspire me, I'm grateful.
