@greyparks206 that is fantastic! You beat my first 5k by a minute!

    @lporter229 what kind of music?

I'm working on our bathroom all day, with plans to sneak away for a run later this evening.

Thank you! I was tentatively aiming for 39 minutes, so I’m very happy with the time.

Big Hairy Audacious Goal: Sub 4 hours in Pittsburgh 2018!

    Official Marathon PR: 4:11:28

Next Races (more as I find them):

05/06/18 - Pittsburgh Marathon - aiming for sub four hours.
05/12/18 - Glacier Ridge 50k Trail Ultra (I must hate myself)

2020 - Disney World Dopey! (if can raise funds)

So I decided the TailWinds needed another try and well I was 1000 calories over food budget yesterday so did a long run. :) So I di 17 miles and started running into problems again. This time I walked back instead to pushing to 20.

I do not think the TailWind will work. The problem is that it quenches thirst. In 17 miles I may have drunk 10 oz of water. Nowhere near enough. I think for the marathon and ultra I will carry clifbok, s-caps and propel.

So this was weird. I know people with diabetes need to be careful about their feet and all that but...

Well when I got from the 17-mile run and pulled off my she, I found the front of my sock covered in blood. When I removed my sock I saw all my toes covered in blood but was way too much to tell where ti came from. Nothing hurt, so I washed it all off and been waiting for it bleed again so I can know where to put the band-aide.

    Nothing.

Maybe I am all out of blood and I need to make more first?

You may have formed a blood blister at the end of a toe, and the blister broke. I've had that happen.

To many great accomplishments to comment on - except for our girl SKIP @skippygirlsmom signing her papers. :):):):):):):):):):):):):):)

So I started the month with Taper into the Jasper Hm then a short recovery run. Work road trip and family got in the way of running so having another low km month. Only at 46.6km of a planned 140. Next week road trip for work to Grande Prairie so I might be able to get some Km's in on the trails there.

Today managed 13km that felt like 95.

1km - wanted to quit, felt like #!**
2km - really wanted to quit.
3km - halfway to turn around - can't stop now, still felt like #!**

At km 6 after passing a driveway some new dogs came out to greet me, all teeth and aggressive. Like everyone else on here we have our semi-common routes and know most of the dogs, these are new to the property/area. Don't remember the property being for sale so the owner must have acquired some new pets.
6.5km Turn and head back, Its a dead end route so no choice but to go back towards my new friends, they were still on the main road waiting for me. Surprisingly they were very aggressive for Great Danes, not a fun experience. The Bigger Black one turned and ran home when I told them to go home. The slightly smaller Black/White tracked me and I had to face him/her as I walked backwards down the road away from the driveway. Talking constantly to keep him/her calm. 1/2 km later she finally gave the one last little woof and turned and ran home. Great Danes aren't know for that aggressive type of behavior, will have to warn all my running friends as this is a common route for many of us in the early spring as it faces south and is one of the first ones to dry up. Still lots of snow in the hills/bush so very limited trail terrain open.

    04/01 0.0 km – 0.0km – 140.0 km – YTD 233.07km
    04/07 21.02km -21.02km -118.8 km - YTD 254.09km Jasper Hm
04/09 1.6 km -22.62km -117.2 km Jasper HM Easy Recovery Run
    04/14 11.0 km -33.62km -106.2 km
    04/21 13.0 km -46.62km - 93.2 km - YTD 279.69km Manzer Route.

Since everyone was posting shoe pictures yesterday....

My new shoes! I’ve never tried Mizuno shoes. We will see how well they work out on my run tomorrow.

I’ve worn Mizunos for a couple of years and really love them. I haven’t tried the 21’s yet. I found the 20’s on sale a few weeks ago and bought another pair since I knew I already liked my other pair.

I had that happen to a toe after a run and found it was from a toenail that wasn’t short enough that had dug into my toe, causing it to bleed.

I have this happen all the time. I tend to get blood blisters under my toenails. However, watch your feet carefully for a few days to make sure something else isn’t brewing.
