@dreamer12151 - I also use the Nike Run Club App with my Garmin. I was having a hard time with it not syncing to the NRC app. I changed my settings in the Garmin Connect on the desktop (not in the app on my phone) to My Groups and Connections (I previously had it set to private, where I could only see them). The Garmin started syncing and now all my runs are showng in NRC app. So maybe check the settings and see what happens.
Thank you so much! Never thought to log in on the PC, I did just now, it shows I'm connected, but made a few other changes, so lets hope next run it will link up?
May Goal: 20 Miles
5/2: 2.03 miles
5/5: 2.50 miles
5/9: 1.65 miles (all run)
5/12: 2.13 miles
5/15: 2.01 miles - 10.32 miles run, 9.68 to go
__________
Yearly goal: 200 miles: Jan - April: 61.68 miles run - 10.32= 128.0 to go!3 -

Today's run was a short 2.6 miles. It was really humid, but overall a nice little run. It is amazing to me how short this run seemed. After the HM on Saturday I may not run as many miles during the week as I was running during the training, but I am thinking that I will at least run 3.5 - 4 miles on my short runs. I really did feel like I was just getting started when it was time to stop. I have also thought that for a while after the HM I may just run a set amount of time and not worry about running a set number of miles. I'll probably just kind of play it by ear. I can't believe that May 19th is almost here.
Upcoming races:
5/19/18: Run for 57th AHC Half Marathon
11/10/18: Wags & Whiskers 5K7 -

I have about 10 miles to run tomorrow so I'll probably head out to the state park and run the trails. Hopefully, I can get it done between thunderstorms. Nothing like looking at the weekly forecast and seeing lightening bolts for every day this week.

Once again I am really having trouble keeping up with the thread. I was away all weekend and didn't have time to check in yesterday, but I skimmed through the posts.
I did catch that @PastorVincent successfully completed his first ultra! Way to Go!!
I also read through all of your replies on my question about running groups. I really appreciate all of the feedback. Several of my running friends joined the new group from our store this weekend and I think I am going to do the same. While the 5K training plan isn't exactly what I am looking for at the moment, I really want to support the independently owned store and I think there is some value to joining. The new owner has offered a "finish the year" special for $100. This includes training for a mid-summer 5K and a fall half or full marathon. Training includes supported weekend runs with water stops and Gus for double digit runs, 15% in-store discounts, a club tech shirt and socks for each training session, plus a bonus hoodie for those of us taking advantage of the combined deal. It also offers an organized meeting point/support tent for the featured races. But perhaps most importantly to me, it will allow me to continue running regularly with my core group of running companions. In the end, I think it is worth the money.
I did not run this weekend since I traveled to Pittsburgh to visit my Mom. It was a quick trip and it really was not worth trying to cram in a run. Plus, I am enjoying the "no pressure" running time following the marathon. Yesterday after work I had intended to run 4-5 miles before heading home. When I went to dress, I realized that I had forgotten my sports bra, so that wasn't happening. I headed home with the intentions of taking Stella for a run. My husband is in China this week, so Stella and I are solo. I feel way too guilty leaving her alone as soon as I get home when she has been alone all day. But it was really hot yesterday evening and I knew it would be too hot for her. We played a bit in the yard and I managed to squeeze in some lunges, squats and box jumps on the fire pit while we played fetch. After the sun went down, I felt a bit of a breeze and decided it was okay to head out. We ran close to a mile and a half, but she was panting pretty hard near the end of the run, so I decided to stop. When we got home, she lapped up an entire bowl of water before collapsing on the rug in the kitchen, panting for nearly 10 minutes trying to cool down. I felt so horrible. I should know better. Today I remembered all of my things and I will squeeze in my run after work before heading home to the pup. She will appreciate a nice easy walk a lot more, I think.8 -
@lporter229 That new store group run deal sounds awesome! I think it'd be well worth the money!3

Shoot, the clothing alone costs more than you are paying. Definitely worth it,4 -
I did two and a quarter slow, easy miles this morning. And tonight I plan to sign up for my first 5k event...my first “race” in more than 18 months!
9.75/10 (18.25 total) for May6 -
SO Today I figured something out...
First, and Iced Skinny Latte is 120 calories (https://www.starbucks.com/menu/drinks/espresso/iced-skinny-mocha)
Second, it is about 1.25 miles round trip to walk to the coffee shop.
That is net zero calories!11 -

ETA. You are brave walking with coffee so early in the morning. I'd probably need to make sure there was at least one place with a public restroom!2 -

I just looked up the Five Fifty Fifty Run. That is so cool! There's not a race near me, but I'm considering doing the virtual race. I think someone else had mentioned the series in a previous challenge month. It might've been you. Very neat!
Thanks @zerlinna87 I'm very excited about this one! My local running store had a send off run for the team before they left for the first 5k and they were so inspiring. My 16 year old daughter has depression/anxiety and it's been so hard to find adolescent psychiatrists in my area, it's about a 6 month wait right now.
I'm so happy to support their cause and to help raise awareness.

I am super way behind on the thread. And I was out on business travel last week in southern Arizona. Doubt I will get to read the thread in much detail, but will see how much I can briskly run through it.

@PastorVincent I read your race report and post race report. Awesome job and how thoughtful for being there for your wife. I know! I know! It's a week late.

Like I said, sorry I am a week behind.1 -
PastorVincent wrote: »@kevaasen - "the wall" and "I lost steam in the last 6 miles" are one and the same Right about 20 miles seems to be the magic distance when people run into trouble. I dunno why, perhaps @Stoshew71 does? At a guess, your need for energy and your ability to consume your energy stores probably cross some threshold there.
Congrats on your race! I will have to try and remember to check StravA later for the rest.
The term "hitting the wall" is many times thrown out by different people that could be caused by a number of different factors. Same thing for, "losing steam". In general, you got fatigued. But why? What caused it?
Here's 2 articles to read on the subject.

Well, my running month continues to be awesome at the halfway point - and as a bonus this morning my husband joined me for the first time! He only stuck with me for the first few minutes and walked part of that, but I feel really proud of him for starting. He insists that he hates running but is going to do it anyhow since it's good for him, which I don't understand at all but to each their own. It was a little bit awkward figuring out pacing while we were together - I was trying to keep to my usual pace but ended up a little slower than usual, he was trying to go faster than me at first, and he's almost a foot taller than me so who even knows. I'm sure we'll work out the kinks if he sticks with it (fingers crossed).
I've been adjusting and readjusting my plan for the next couple of months as I go, still more-or-less sticking to 10% increase per week. I've got a new lake to run around this coming weekend and am also looking to hit my first ten mile week this week. I also started a new work project with someone I hadn't met before - his bio said he's a marathoner but I was too nervous to bring it up. Maybe at our next face-to-face (I work from home).

This is relatable. My husband and I have agreed that when we go running together, we actually don't. We start in the same spot, and then head off in different directions. Or we go in the same direction, but he walks the dog and I run. We both turn around at an agreed upon time and head back to the starting point. We can't seem to get on the same page as far as pace, and it just makes it less enjoyable for both of us. We then go out for coffee, lunch, or a beer, depending on time of day.6 -

Goal = 100 miles
After a rainy day, it cleared up in time for an after work run. It seemed cool to start but was quite humid so definitely didn't need the long sleeve shirt. Easy run along the canal path, and we saw a teeny tiny snapping turtle. My friend helped it off the path and toward the canal. Hope it makes it!
Pretty much right on target for my goal at 50 out of 100 miles done on the 15th of the month.
