It's a good thing I love my friend and am motivated to get her running... 5:30 on a Saturday is just crazy talk! But on the bright side, I got C25k w1d3 + 9k run + weights/strength exercises all done by 7:30! On my solo run, I saw 2 european hampsters (one ran away like a normal animal and the other dashed across the sidewalk in front of me while snarling ferociously), a roadkilled hedgehog , a man running in a button-up dress shirt, and this:
Upcoming races:
6/30 Silesian Highland [trail] Half Marathon

Hiya,
A bit of a June late starter here, I'm not going to set a distance challenge, so my target is to run twice a week.
I've kind of fallen out of running since London and need to get my mojo back and quickly as I have a 10k race tomorrow and a HM on 1st July

Hello everyone!! I know I am late but I want to join!!! I wish I found this group sooner!! My goal for June is 60 miles.

June 3 6 miles
June 4

Thanks all for the nice comments on my better photo! I look tall - lol, yes I'm pretty tall and get that a lot.
I am totally intimidated by handstands but maybe should give it a try now that I've been strength training - maybe I could do it?
Good luck on your 50 km today!!! I was just about to look up the conversion to miles but realized I could probably do that one in my head from a 5k. Anyway, it's long and I am impressed!

I took a couple of rest days after running races on Sunday and Wednesday this week. I did circuit training yesterday though with several laps of running thrown in there on the tiny indoor track, but didn't keep track of time or distance on that. All I know is that I also did a lot of squats and my legs are feeling that.
Today's long run was nice, it was a beautiful morning about 55 degrees F to start. There were a lot of people out for the good weather and it was the first week of our new training cycle so that's always a good turnout. There was also a sprint tri going on at the park so lots of activity. The run felt pretty good but I'm feeling sore now that I'm done. Might need a nice soak in the tub, and of course will have to go for a long walk with my girl Stella so that might help although it's the last thing I feel like doing at the moment.
Good luck to on any races this weekend, and in getting those long runs in, or whatever you have planned.

Welcome @zebedeeclare ! And good luck on your 10k! Just enjoy it. Walk if you need to. What distance did you run in London?0
-
@ContraryMaryMary - are those poppies? So beautiful.
I'm getting a kick out of the race photos. I always try to smile for the camera, but I DO look like I'm grimacing! The only photo I ever bought was from the Chicago Marathon - I'm even waving to the camera - must have been taken pretty early in the race.
Ran early this morning to beat the rain - my dog decided to cool off in some mud puddles so of course that meant I had to give him a bath as soon as we were home. Which he LOVES (said with complete sarcasm). This isn't my dog, but this is pretty much exactly how he feels about baths:

How a typical morning treadmill run goes for me:
First 0.25 mile - Warm up. Still trying to wake up.
0.25 - 0.5 miles - Getting going running. Wondering why I'm doing this.
0.5 - 0.75 miles - I can't do this. I'll just do one mile and walk the rest.
1 mile - Well maybe I can go another quarter mile.
1.25 - 1.5 miles - No, I can't do this. I'll just get to mile 2 and walk the rest.
2 miles - WEEEEEEEE I CAN RUN FOREVER
I got 4 miles done today. Longest run in a really long time. Had to do the treadmill because it was storming outside. Saturday morning radio in Chicago is... interesting.
Have a great weekend everyone! Congrats to those who raced this weekend and good luck to those who will be racing soon!10 -
Honestly wasn't planning on doing the longest run of my life today. Left calf/Achilles still a little angry, but it went away around mile 7, so I wanted to remember how it felt running without pain. I just tried to take it easy the whole time. It ended up being only 6 sec/mi slower than my goal marathon pace. And it felt really good. Even in June with high humidity and 80F, HR avg 120. Going slow really is a game changer.
Welcome to the group @jennacole12. Hang on, it is a wild ride

Oh, to add to playlist ideas. I agree with @shanaber on Lady Gaga. I also like Christina Aguilera (Dirty, Stronger, sometimes Moulin Rouge).

Loving that y'all getting out and knocking down the miles... hope to get out today. House hunting while working 3 jobs is not leaving much time for running sadly.4

10 km Riverbank trails. The original plan was 15 km up Judah Hill. Some ladies I know came by on bikes and we started talking, had a really nice mobile visit. Suddenly realized I was 2 km past the turn for Judah Hill. Did the math and it would have been 20 km + the Hill climb which would be way above my training plan, so adjusted my plan and just did 10. Rained overnight so very Humid and sticky.
06/02 10.02 km- 10.02km - 130.0 km - YTD 430.48km

@ariceroni At one of my events a fellow had heaves ( not dry ) in the finish area, the marshal's grabbed him and pulled him out - no one wants to do that cleanup, and no runner wants to run into it. @21:59 you have reason to be green.
@Orphia No Handstands/cartwheels/bench press for me. Yoga poses and planks are questionable.
Separated a shoulder ( dislocated) many years ago and I don't want to go through that experience again. Ironically when I run I tend to hold the injured left arm higher than the right arm.

@biketheworld Yes, I am doing the full marathon at Wineglass in NY! I think it will be a fun event!
@5BeautifulDays Congrats on your 5 miles!
@ariceroni Congrats on your PR!
@polskagirl01 What pretty flowers!!!
No run yesterday - hubby and I went to a Dead and Company concert. This morning, I ran 4.5 miles. I saw a deer, and although she didn’t run, I couldn’t get a picture in time before she walked into the woods. Came home, and now one of my pups is asleep on my lap, and I feel bad about having to wake her so I can shower!

That'd be rapeseed flowers. Not sure what the purple ones would be. We'd love more pictures!

Yellow tends to be oilseed rape/rapeseed. Canola is the name given to a crossbred version.
Purple not sure - if it looks like a crop, and is more blue than purple, then it’s probably flax - from which linen and linseed oil comes from.
Love seeing fields of poppies. They are just so delicate, and poignant. Don’t think it’s worldwide but the poppy is the flower of remembrance of war dead in the U.K.1 -

I am so behind on posts!
Been waking up early the last few days to get my runs in before the day starts. Like 4:45am and 5:30am early! 2 full days of training, well there’s something to be said about mental fatigue!
This morning I decided getting up early to do my long run would be far better than waiting Julia because the mornings have been cooler before the sun is fully up. So I got up at 5:30am. I ran 11 miles, checked on the kids, then headed back out to finish the last 3. I felt pretty good! Kept the pace right around 10 minute miles and my hr stayed pretty steady.
I took the kids to the beach afterwards. Pretty awesome day for the beach. My kids are done with school, I’m done with my long run for the week, and I can RELAX for days!!!

Awaiting the Belmont Stakes. My interest in running started with horse racing. Anyway if Justify doesn't win today, then my hunch bet is Hofburg. His trainer is from South Dakota and we are vacationing in South Dakota this fall. I just want everyone to be safe today.2

Look at that, autocorrect has betrayed me again. Poopies? Wth is a poopie? Sheesh.3 -

Does anyone use a cooling towel on their long runs? My work supplies them for our employees that have to deliver paperwork (they go about 3 miles outside).
If you aren't sure what I mean here is one example on Amazon https://smile.amazon.com/Balhvit-Cooling-Instant-Chilling-Microfiber/dp/B074C2NFPQ/ref=sr_1_3?s=sporting-goods&rps=1&ie=UTF8&qid=1528588924&sr=1-3&keywords=cooling+towel&refinements=p_85:2470955011,p_72:1248957011&th=1&psc=10
