Well done @Avidkeo - smashed it!!!
Welcome @mjone1997 - the only problem you’ll have getting to know people in this thread is in keeping up with it!!! Walk away for more than 24 hours and there’ll be three pages of catch up good stuff going on!3 -
Just gonna leave this here...
Boom! NAILED IT!girlinahat wrote: »Well done @Avidkeo - smashed it!!!

Yeah, I sort of quit going to all of the rest of the forums when I joined up here a couple of months ago.6 -
@shanaber
i wish she was. she is fear driven. you could put a hot dog or cheese in her mouth and she will spit it out if she anxious. she goes from ok to shut down in 0 sec flat.
the running calms her down and gives her confidence but she won't run on her own either so i can't get her to exercise on her own before. and soon as we turn to home we go from 11:20ish to 9:50ish. HOME!!! so i have at least .2mi of pulling
i'll have to continue with the training. she is way too sneaky for a head halter which is how i originally trained my old lady to run when she was younger.
suprisingly, the border terrier i'm fostering is the worst
My sister-in-law has a border terrier. Fabulous dogs.1 -

This might be the healthiest, most engaging, helpful, encouraging group on MFP. I don't go any anyplace except here. Except when I disappear for lengths of time and suddenly re-appear with a re-created self. But I blame ex-wives and stalker gfs for that.8 -
@lporter007 wrote @cburke8909- Congrats on meeting your 5K goal!! I think you are my running twin. If I remember right, didn't you recently run a half marathon PR in just under 1:40? (sorry if I have you confused with someone else) My HM PR is 1:39:56 and my 5K is 21:57. Of course, I ran that 5K in March when it was nice and cold out. My most recent evening 5K in sweltering evening heat was a full minute and a half slower, so maybe we are not running twins after all Great job!!!
You are correct, it looks like we are running mirrors of each other.
@PastorVincent "323rd mile" ever wonder how autocorrect works. It is a great "smart"phone feature. 😉 😀2 -
7/1: 4.5 miles
7/3: 2.5 miles
7/4: 6.3 miles
7/6: 3 miles
7/7: 5 miles
7/8: 5.2 miles + 3.3 mile hike
7/9: 2 miles
7/13: 3 miles
Total: 31.5/85
Upcoming Races:
Wineglass Marathon 9/30
It poured this afternoon while at work, but it cleared up right around the time I arrived home, so I went out for my 3 miler. I’m so happy it is the weekend. I’m really looking forward to a couple of longer runs this weekend in the cooler morning and at a location other than my subdivision.5 -
Whenever I think that it's too damn hot, I remember running in this at 9 degrees F, and then I STFU... lol

My hip's been hurting since before I started back to running, and running doesn't make it feel worse--but I suspect that if I want to keep running and run longer distances, I'm going to have to work on this.
@shanaber thanks for the tag. I've been skimming the thread and missed this.
Oh @5BeautifulDays i am sorry your in pain.. Okay... My first suggestion is to continue to run as you tolerate. My surgeon never said stop.
Second find someone to work with that wont dismiss piriformis syndrome (dgs) as a thing. PT massage is most helpful.
Third. Stretch, foam roll, do plenty of self massage too.
Fourth. Strengthen your glute max. Chances are that it weak and your piriformis is overworked. Donkey kicks and glute squeezes every other day.
And finally watch for signs of nerve impingment.

So I did something crazy. Normally I run alone and I am very much an introvert (hard to believe when you see me online, I know). But I agreed tentatively, assuming I can get the time off from work, to do a trail Ragnar with a team of other diabetics in October. The most crazy thing is that I found this on a Facebook group and I have never met any of the others before. The distance for each runner is pretty short (about 15.5 miles total spread across 3 legs), but it should be interesting.16

I regularly run in to the " double mint twins". One said "hi". I ignored her. I heard her say "I'm going to quit being friendly". I thought "freakin' finally." I'm alone i like being alone I'm here alone to stay alone.... Me. Alone. No yap yap. Hahaha! But like you, here. I'm in control of the conversation and tend to be able to indulge the closet extrovert. Ooop. Gotta go.. phones about to die.2 -

Lol...funniest thing I've read today. Thank you... your anti-social smart-assery is a balm to my jaded, cynical soul...lol7 -

That looks amazing! Probably because I never have to run in it - LOL. It never gets cold enough to snow in Texas (at least the part of Texas I live in). If it even threatens to ice over the whole state shuts down in panic.
I have never run when fluffy wet stuff is falling from the sky. I wouldn't even know how...3 -
@Elise4270 you are freaking hysterical.
So Skip came home with Hoka Mach they have a drop of 5, the Nike were 8. She talked to the manager at Fleet Feet and he thought she should change the drop in steps. She will need another pair of something before she leaves for school so she will drop again with those shoes. Thanks for the input everyone. My first thought were the shoes too, she will keep her appointment at the orthopedic dude just to make sure.5 -

Running challenge
1 July: 5.30 at 5:09 pace (race pace)
2 July: yoga
3 July: 7.01 at 5:45 pace
4 July: yoga
5 July: 12.66 at 5:50 pace (“unproductive" according to Garmin)
6 July: rest
7 July: yoga
8 July: 15.2 at 6:01 (slow and steady)
9 July: yoga
10 July: 6.0 at 6:02 pace (probably faster but I had a child on a bike in tow who kept needing a push - I certainly had to work harder) plus another 1.8km at about the same pace with similar issues getting the younger daughter to kindy.
11 July: yoga
12 July: 10.71 at 5:25 pace - when you’re short on time but you want to go long, you gotta go fast.
13 July: rest and pizza (and more pizza)
14 July: sneaky 6.7km at 5.55 pace to undo some of last night’s pizza damage followed by yoga. Great way to start a Saturday.
65.38 of 150km for July4 -
No run tonight watched a movie with the wife instead and had three bowls of ice cream. That's pretty much the same thing as running right? I mean think of all the energy I will spend digesting it!12

I have been considering trying NipEaze but have been hesitant because... unlike @LaDispute57 no band-aid, nor tape stays in place for me. When I have gotten things to stay its cause I used an egregious amount of tape PLUS wore a compression top to help hold it in place.2 -
Knee pain question
(Figures. I'm about over the ITBS/BS and something else hurts). LOL!
Few months ago i was just walking through cvs and turned the corner and my knee gave slightly and hurt for a few day after that.
Today i stepped down 3 steps at work and the same knee had a sudden pain under the knee cap. (If you look at your knee, towards the foot being 12 on a clock, it hurts about 10. I sat down complained to a colleague whose had 2 partial knee replacements. He suggested it sounds like a loose body. Ok. I wiggled my knee cap around, thinking if its such i could theoretically dislodged this body back to where it isn't painful. Success. But It's still sore. I "ran" (walked) with no reminder of knee pain this afternoon.
Now its stiff and swollen at the knee cap. I'm icing and plotting a PCP visit if this isn't any better by Monday. My duathlon is in 9 days. *Insert sadness*
So let's play doctor. What wrong?9 -
@Teresa502 Yeah, humidity sucks...yet for some odd reason, I prefer summer running to winter running, despite all the complaining I do.
@cburke8909 Congrats on your 5K!
@Elise4270 No idea...all I can offer is a virtual hug, but I hope you're able to get it sorted before your race.
Another humid run...I basically become a running puddle these days.
05 - 13.85
06 - 15.31
07 - 13.71
09 - 15.31
10 - 13.05
11 - 15.32
12 - 13.35
13 - 15.30
Total: 115.20 / 250 miles3 -

My husband used thd NipEaze for a bit. No complaints except price and having to remember order them. Then he switched to circle Band-Aids. The Band-Aids sweat off. So i suggested running shirtless. No more nip chaffing. I know that may not be an option for all. (Swear its the only reason i wanna trim down. Shirtless runs).
Thanks for the virtual hug I'm hoping its bursitis.0 -
@cburke8909 great race report. I too am SUPER competitive with my brother (as we are identical twins you can well imagine). But we love to race together when we can get together. He lives on the other side of the country.3

Along those lines..... I am soooo far behind, but I have some crazy runner friends I need to get connected with I think.
@ereck44 we need to get together when you are in South Dakota! I can easily go to where your adventure is.
Also @ladysnickerdoo where in south Dakota will you be headed this month?
I did a work related 2.5 mile hike today... that was probably harder on my lungs and dumb ankle than a run would have been... so I am counting it
15.9/507 -
Thank you everyone! @ContraryMaryMary that's one reason I love living here! Just stunning.
I've been quiet because I took the kids for a huge hike through the forest, after the 10k. I'm exhausted!3 -
Oh and km at the halfway point in the month, 66km done of 90. I'm gonna have to amend my goal next month lol. I didn't expect to get there this soon. End of next week if I keep this up.5

After careful consideration of all the facts and consulting many textbooks, I have determined that you hurt your knee by jarring it on the steps.
That will be $550, have a nice day!10 -
