Today, I went to the market/flea and bought some candles, a giant chocolate chip cookie, a pretty dress and some body lotion. It's an upscale flea with artists and natural products sold. I went with my daughter.

Then, I bought her an inkjet printer; she's a young artist (age 17) and needs one for transfers to make t-shirts. She's my inspiration to take time to do crafts and painting.
@SaraKim17 I used to love browsing magazines. Thanks for the reminder. I think I'll stop always going on my ipad and wasting time and get back to reading more.

    @MadisonMolly2017, I've seen "Enchanted Forest"; it's beautiful. :)

@JulieAL1969, I realize I spend too much time on my Kindle these days. It was nice looking at a "real" magazine, and easier on my eyes. Sounds like you and your daughter had a very nice day!

Today's self care has been reading an actual book, but it's about diabetes. It may be healthy, but it's making me depressed and I'm already feeling down. (Honestly, I want to go to the grocery store and buy cookies right now. Fighting the urge.) :|

Yes, I’ve experienced that with some of my nutrition & health research. Best to read something else or watch a comedy. Go back to it when you’re feeling better. That’s what I did, and it really helped.

What works for me: “Food won’t fix it; it will just give me another problem to deal with.” Call a friend? Go for a photo walk listening to awesome music? A magazine in a bath? Fresh flowers? Self-care is essential. PS. I avoid sweets, so I don’t get these cravings anymore- hard at first, SUPER easy to do later. Really.

Today I did a yoga class this morning, had an ice cream in the sun (within calorie limit) and had an hour sleep in the garden. Namaste 🙏🏻

Brought a picnic blanket to work and invited my coworkers to eat lunch in the park with me! We all usually eat at our desks, but it's so nice to get away from the screens and into the fresh air for a bit! I even remembered to re-apply my sunscreen before heading out!

Listened to really great music on my walk!

Had some lovely snuggles with my cat.

I am realizing I’m still not *really* doing self-care- will put more thought into it!!

Today, I went through 10 big drawers of clothing in bedroom And made a mountain of clothing to donate. I'll now move to the dining room to continue de-cluttering. I feel calmer already.

    WOW- Congratulations!!!!

    You’re inspiring me!

I’m just afraid I’ll have nothing to wear! LoL

I just finished my dining room!! You’ll feel even lighter! This time through, I left a few empty shelves. Amazing how much more relaxing/Zen it feels.(Now, to not put stuff there in future!!) LoL

Molly and Julie, I love hearing that you've been decluttering! xx

I don't know why, but it just makes me feel more peaceful.

So awesome! You are inspiring me! I still seem to be reluctant to make art, but I’m not giving up. *Almost* got out the coloring books this evening.

    Tomorrow is another opportunity!

I'm finding if I can do it on my phone or iPad, I'm much more likely to do it!

Maybe you could download an app for colouring for your phone. I know they're out there. x

I definitely can't consider it coloring, but I do enjoy the Colorfy app when I'm in the mood. I find it rather soothing. 🌼

@Orphia Thank you! I read your suggestion last night & opened my Recolor App & did one!

@SaraKim17 Yes, I have Colorfy too! I like it because you can import your own drawings!!

Thank you, both. I used to load photos of my art or other photos into them, color and mod in other apps! I Really like a lot of the images I created. Thank you for reminding me!!!

Joining MFP again and saw this challenge. I know July is half way over but it's never too late to take care of me! So today I joined a couple of great friends for lunch at a precious tea shop diner and enjoyed a lot of laughter and catching up.

Make a list of “Absolute Nos”

    https://psychcentral.com/blog/3-self-care-strategies-to-transform-your-life/

    Don’t rush.
Don’t spend more on your credit card than you can repay at payday.
    Don’t gossip.
Don’t keep things you don’t love or need.
Don’t answer the phone during dinner.
Don’t go to bed late and don’t sleep in.

Part of my self care "no list" is NO drinking at home. I've been cutting back as much as possible and one of my Firm NO's is I will not pour a drink at home.
I like the "no " list idea in this article! Thanks for sharing it.

Does anyone remember the great segment on NPR Called "This I know". I remember hearing some amazing essays written and read by regular people on that radio program. I once made a list of things I call "This I know...." Your article triggered my memory of this.

    Absolute No’s (for me):
I will not have a greater than 15 minute commute unless it’s walking!

I will not have a messy kitchen (reset each time used).

I will not let the supply of healthy foods in the house go below what is needed for next two days.

I will not skip weighing & tracking all food.

I will not have cheat days/meals, etc. (only cheating myself & re-activating the thrill of overeating)

    I will not be sedentary.

It’s a great idea you shared.

I just had to think about it awhile!
