Don't be so sure. I once had a doctor tell me if I wanted to lose weight I shouldn't eat anything that was white.6 -
I tried posting a reply but it didn't work. Anyway, Tinkerbell, I'm not ignorant. Nowhere in my post did I say I was looking for some magical fix it thing. I said that it can promote weight loss among other things. Please read and fully understand the question. I appreciate the edited part in your comment.
Snemberton, yeah, I've heard it can like boost metabolism and other cool healthy stuff.
It won't boost your metabolism to any measurable degree. Caffeine is stimulant, eating spicy food, or drinking ice water. These these can "boost" your calorie burn too......I'm sure could gain a whopping 10 or 15 calories a day with these things.
This is the problem with "this is what I heard," there might be some minuscule grain of truth in some things. But minuscule isn't worth mentioning here.
Eat less food. Move more. It's always going to require effort. "Passive" weight loss doesn't work.5 -
I think she's on to something.
I'd smell that bad that I wouldn't socialise any where near as much By-proxy I would consume a lot less food and alcohol.5 -
mmm i have an irresistible craving for shwarma0

I had a doctor tell me to make sure I got lots of " color" and variety in my diet, I went home and ate a pack of skittles.18 -

This thread is a delight, and these choices look amazing! Maybe I’m doing it wrong. From now on I’m only drinking clear liquids and eating colorful foods. Now pass me the M&Ms!2 -
Unless you happen to like eating roasted garlic, there is zero reason you should do this to yourself.
However, roasted elephant garlic makes a great spread, and six cloves (not heads, just cloves) isn't all that much. Roasted garlic has a more nutty and less intense flavor and is creamy. So go ahead if you love garlic. Otherwise please don't. The health benefits of a bunch of garlic are not significant enough to be worth eating food you don't like.2 -

I eat 3 cloves of raw garlic if I feel a cold coming on: it kills viruses. Raw garlic is also known for stimulating hunger; I read one anecdotal incidence of weight loss with it. If you eat it in the evening and make all of your family eat it too then nobody in your home will notice the smell but pity the poor unexpected visitor15

Crap. That rules out almond milk, Greek yoghurt and cauliflower. 3 of my staples. Fortunately I can just swap my vanilla ice cream for chocolate. Phew. Glad I don't need to give up chocolate.10 -

Can you post the studies that show garlic kills viruses? That's a new one for me.4 -

I have come across something to the effect, but not exactly "kills viruses". More like reduces the severity and symptoms of the common cold because the immune system is able to deal with pathogens without having to overproduce inflammatory substances. It was an aged garlic extract supplement, though, so not sure how well it pans out to actual garlic not in supplemental form. Extracts tend to be much more potent, in some cases to an extent nearly impossible to replicate through diet. They also supplemented continuously for a couple of months (if I remember correctly, but it sure was much longer than a couple of days). Again, we can't extrapolate that this would apply to eating a few cloves of garlic when you feel a cold coming.
I hate it when healthy people dissect foods for benefits then fixate on them. Many food items have one benefit or another. Just eat a varied diet and you will get whatever benefits your diet contains without having to jump through hoops. There are general recommendations for specific conditions that may warrant paying a little bit more attention to certain foods over others (garlic is quite nice for cholesterol), but no single food makes or breaks health and many single food benefits are marginal.5 -

Off topic but I've been re-watching Moonlighting episodes on YouTube. Young Bruce Willis was F.I.N.E.6 -

It might not make everyone sick but Seagrams is so bad to me that not even garlic can fix it.

There are other Vodkas. Just saying, you don't have to give up on Vodka Peeps. You could try other alcohols too, but then you'll lose the PeepCleanse (TM) benefits.4 -
