8/04: 218.2 What The Heck?!?! I am so annoyed. The only differences have been the last 2 days I had coffee and homemade chocolate cake (small pieces). Can that really throw off my weight this much? One a positive note I posted this today, in the past I wouldn't have and I honestly felt like saying screw it.
@1991court Sugar makes me retain more water than salt. Weight is just a measurement that reflects your body's contents at that particular time. Another way to measure progress is to measure your waist in a fasted state (first thing in the morning.) For most people, a healthy waist measurement range is 1/2 of their height, in inches/cm.
Example: my height = 63.5" my waist = 29"
Keep in mind healthy range doesn't necessarily mean ideal.
Thank you so much for your comment I did not know that sugar can make you retain more water. I did Intend to mention that I do measurements and I do picture Comparisons and today when I did my measurements I Was Down around another 2" total From neck to butt. I was just really happy that lost that I had, I know weight fluctuates just having to learn a healthier way if thinking.1 -

7/27 - 158.5 - I was going to gripe about being this weight for almost 8 days straight, especially since I've stayed real close to my weight loss calories. Then I realized because of our out of town visitors, I've had food that is higher in sodium, I haven't been walking as much, and water has not been my drink of choice. We've got one last barbecue planned for this weekend and then they'll leave on Sunday. I need to enjoy this weekend and not worry about what the scale says. Last week, before they came, I was hoping to maintain and I need to be happy that I did.
7/28 - 159.5
7/29 - 161 - Well, 158.5 looks pretty good right now! I had a little of everything at our picnic yesterday and several drinks, so this is no surprise. I have figured out that exactly 11 years ago I had dieted to 157 lbs. I hit a plateau and stopped counting calories and tracking my weight. This time will be different. I don't regret the overindulgence yesterday, since this time I'm not going to let it derail me. (And we had so much fun!)

8/02 - 158.5 - I can't believe I'm happy to see this number again. I'm really going to try to drop a half pound over the next few days to end this round with a loss. I've been having issues with vertigo (BPPV, I think) the past few weeks which has kept me from doing some of my calorie burning activities. I had this issue a few years ago, but I don't remember it lasting this long.
8/03 - 158.5 - The scale bounced around this morning, but it finally landed here, so I'm taking it. It is pretty amazing how I can go over TDEE calories for one day and my body wants to hold on to the weight. This does not bode well for next weekend when my husband and I go to Amish country for our anniversary. Oh well, as many people in this challenge have said, this is not a race.

I am doing the same thing everyday. Working out at least every other day (mostly everyday) and eating under my goal(at a deficit). I have started working on this hardcore circuit that burns 200 calories for me in just under 15 mins so I’m thinking my muscles are recovering and that’s the slight gain I see. But I feel awesome and know this is not fat gain, so I’m keeping up with the routine I’m in right now. Always need to prioritize getting more sleep though and remember to drink tons of water.

•7/27 - 189.2 - Early weigh in. This end of round drop and beginning round overnight gain of ONE pound seems to be my trend. I'm officially in the overweight BMI category. Kind of a weird eating day for me yesterday. Went to help my niece again, but was rushed, so I threw some random food items into my lunchbag. •8/1 -186.8 - Early weigh in. It's unbelievable that its August already! Yesterday was my last day of increased carbohydrates. 46g carbs, 35g net carbs. Broccoli, salad greens, sunflower seeds, fresh peach. I didn't eat anything that I had planned until 5:30 pm. My niece held me up briefly in the a.m. from running my errands. She asked me to watch her children for a short time and I did. I wasn't hungry until after I left the house, about 1 p.m. Bought some sunflower seeds to stave off my hunger for a couple of hours. Didn't drink enough water throughout the day. Changed up my planned meals a bit, because my eating time was shortened. *My third day back to intermittent fasting. Took a month off.* Made a semi chef's salad, forgot to boil eggs. ? Felt stuffed after eating, but specifically after eating that peach. BUT, no more fresh peaches until next summer, so it's all good. I hope to keep carbs under 20- 25 grams today.
•8/2 - 185.2 - 21g carbs (18g carbs), 17g net carbs (14g net carbs) Ugh, I had my carbs perfect! 18 grams total and messed it up with lime juice. I NEEDED that lime in my water though. My mouth was so dry and I needed flavor. Otherwise, a good day. Macros WERE on point before my little green monster. Changed my nutrition goals, calories dropped by 20.
•8/3 -187 - Early weigh in. Ooo boy! The fluid retention is crazy this morning. 25g carbs, 22g net carbs.
In my mind I'm ready right now to get back to my normal level of exercise, but I'm not, too many injuries. Gotta take it slow. I've also been wanting to get outside and take care of my overgrown shrubs. I got started yesterday. It's been so much rain, the gentleman that cuts my lawn has not done so since June 28! It's been so long that I asked him if I had missed a cut. More rain and storms today, so I'm going out to chop on these shrubs again before it starts.
•8/4 - 185.6 - 31g carbs, 24g net carbs. More outdoor chores yesterday. Always a great upper body workout and the only way I can do squats without thinking about my knee. Muscles are sore, but that makes me know I worked them effectively.

7/26- went for radiation, cut the lawn( big property), took grandchildren to the park, worked out on treadmill, rest.
7/27-walked, yoga, Completed week 5 radiation. I have a health update when I see the doctor All 5 weeks perfect!
7/28- Did not have a good night sleep last night, I hour, 20 mins during the day.( steroids, one more week and then we can start to cut them back, they are making me super hungry, walking helps.
7/29 Had a great day, slept last night, did a lot of walking 112mins. Goal for next week watching my food portions. Steroids are making it really hard for me, one more week and then I can start to cut them in half.
7/30- Had a great day for walking steps. Went for radiation#6 left, and I had to go to the hospital for EEG to test brain for seizures, but I doubt it because I feel fine. I did to much today.
7/31-I feel fantastic, not one symptom since I started radiation completed 25 treatments, down to the last 5, doctors said I would lose my hair after week 2 or 3 -that did not happen. I think because I drink so much water and when I wake up everyday I have an organic bread with avocado. I have been out walking at least 12,000 steps. I am very fortune.
8/1 Only a couple hours sleep last night. Made my meals for tomorrow. Went walking. Since the weekend my steps have been up. 4 more treatments for Radiation. I can't believe it.
8/2 - worked on meal planning for next week. Steps- have been over 10,000 all week. Still not much sleep last night.
8/3- I am so excited, next week Monday is a holiday and then I only have 2 treatments left for Radiation, Tuesday and Wednesday. I finished 28. They were saying today because I kept my regular routine as before I could fight hard, and be symptom free. Means so much for me, when I ring the bell for completion it maybe the first time I see a few tears of happiness!
8/4 Had a super busy Saturday! Did great this week for walking steps hit over 12,000/per day. I have to really watch what I eat I am having a hard time because of the steroids.

Very happy with this round. The numbers are a little odd, but I am clearly in this new decade and heading to 1-derland - hopefully by end of this month!! I am learning to just take a downward trend and not pushing so much for the aggressive 2 lbs/week any more. Focusing more now on lifestyle changes - long term, sustainable ones with flexibility to socalise.

Round 48. In for my second time and loving the 10-day challenge. It's inspiring to see everyone here with many rounds completed and others who are just getting started like me.
Round 48 goals: 10,000 steps per day. In bed by 11 pm.
7/27- 152.5 - 13,000 steps, plus some extra exercise. Made time for breakfast and remembered to pack a healthy lunch.
7/28 -152 - 12,000 steps. Attended a wedding today. The food was not my style, so no trouble to not overindulge. Nearly two weeks of consistent exercise has sure made me feel better.
7/29 - 152.5 - 13,000 steps - Forgot to post.
7/30 - 153.5 - 15,000 steps. Prosecco and pizza and pasta, oh my. No surprise to see today's number. Got a nice little hike in with the family. It was our puppy's first hike and he was surprisingly well behaved! The weather is warm here (for the Pacific Northwest) and I'm glad to be back in my air conditioned office today. A study just came out that said that Seattle is the least air conditioned metropolitan city in the US. So when it's 80 degrees outside, there's no escape - it's also 80 degrees inside. I kind of just melt into my couch on hot weekends and don't want to move at all.
7/31 - 153 - 11,000 steps, elliptical and weight lifting. It's a little cooler here today and it feels sooo good. Glad to see the scale creeping back down.
8/01- 152.5 - Ha, just typo'd and entered that at 125.5. Wouldn't that be nice! 13,000 steps.
8/02 - 151. Didn't hit my step goal yesterday. I came home and was so tired I went right to bed for 12 glorious hours of sleep!! I'd been averaging closer to 5 hours a night, which just isn't enough. Based on yesterday alone, it's sleeping, not stepping, that drives the scale down for me.

8/04 -150 - Hooray! My scale isn’t digital, so maybe 150.5, but I swear it looked pretty spot on the 150 line and I hopped on and off that scale three times to check! I’m calling it 150 and hoping it sticks for the end of the round tomorrow.

About me: 61, 5'7", in maintenance since March this year. Serial loser and regainer of 20 and determined not to slide back up this time.
Round 47 report: Rethinking my goals at this time. My range was 125-130; I am now at the bottom end and still happy to lose slowly; I don't want to exceed 127 by much unless it's serious muscle gain. Some nice hard cardio last week in spite of the muggy gym.
Round 48 GOAL = Maintain weight 121-127, get some nice workouts in.
7/27 - 125.0 - yesterday feeling meh and came home from work. At maintenance calories, no workout.
7/28 - 126.6 - yesterday (Friday) wildfires started near our valley, called in to work at 10PM for a few hours, home at 1PM. Did get 10K steps in but food wise an extreme day.
7/29 - 126.6 - yesterday (Saturday) tired and stressy, food choices were just don't care tbh
7/30 - 128.4 - yesterday (Sunday) we took 2 separate power outages totaling 8 hours, work issues and concern about friends caused anxiety, food choices again were do not care and comfort me please. I did not log the past several days. I am going to draw a line and log now starting today.
Ironic that the second I decide that my top of range is 127, I go over it.
7/31-126.6 - Yesterday a bit over maintenance calories, got a lovely 3.5 mile run in the heat.

7/27 - 221.2 - Went out with an old friend and only had one beer. Passed on the charcuterie plate that I wanted bad, but those are the make or break moments.
7/28- 220.2 - Had 600 calories of pizza last night with 2 glasses of red wine, just ate lightly rest of the day and stayed within 1550 calories. Some foods are out of the question though since the calorie/enjoyment trade off is low. See ya' soda and muffins.
7/29 - 220.6 - Ate out last night, very hard to count calories at restaurants. I went overboard on some kind of oily garlic bread. Then got more of the same bread with entree, didn't know it was coming. Still not a bad day.
7/30 -219.6.6 - Out of the 220's two days short of goal. Next plan is to be out of 210s by Sept 1st for a vacation. Doable, but almost no room for error.
7/31- 218.8 - Bad cereal and milk seems to be my biggest trigger food - by far the worst hunger that I offset with a salad. I wish it wasn't in the house but my wife eats it.
8/1- 217.8 - I got a new scale because the old one was +/- .8. New scale seems to be a pound less than the old one hence the big drop.
8/2- 218.8 - First bad day. I think, I hope, that the reason for the bad day was I ate almost no protein until dinner. I've had very few real urges to overeat, but yesterday I felt extremely hungry and lethargic all afternoon and didn't eat well because of it. Lesson learned, time to move on.
8/3 - 218.0 - Had two ground chicken tacos last night with tiny portion of mexican rice. Still lost weight. Amazing how I can still have this, pizza, steak and still lose weight as long as I stick to my calories.
8/4- 218.2 - A bit sloppy for last four days, time to pick it up.

Splurged a little last night on ice cream and crackers (not together!) and my sodium was a little higher than usual, so no surprise. Pants I haven't worn in a while feel looser, so there's that! I've been having a lot of lower back and hip pain and blood work shows significant inflammation, so in addition to seeing a chiropractor I'm going to start an anti-inflammation cleanse in a few days. Happily, it's not very different from how I typically eat - the main things I'll have to give up are coffee (no biggee if I have my herbal teas) and chicken, which we eat fairly often. Anyway, I'm not doing it for weight loss, but will be interested to know whether it makes a difference (heavy on veggies, whole grains/no bread or grain-based pasta, and healthy fats). It's the Journey Alive 8-week cleanse program by Coralie Murphy, which is science-based and not extreme. Has anyone here done it?

Hmmm. I'm recording my moving average weights -- my actual weight has been steadily rising for the past 4 days (from 147.6 - 148.8 - 149 - 1496 - 149.8). I guess that makes sense in terms of my 10-day calorie averages (although those are actual, not net after exercise), but seems excessive. I have been sporadically taking Ibuprofen for back/hip/neck pain, so maybe water retention? I don't care that I'm not losing, but don't like the steady gains. And this hurting business has gotten old very quickly.

My actual weight has come back down .4, so I'm sure the increase is water from NSAIDs. I'm still researching anti-inflammatory regimes, but I'm pretty sure I'm going to start by cutting wheat, milk, and added sugars (which I get very few of anyway). It's still early, of course, but after 2 days anti-inflam I think I really do feel a bit better. Motivation enough for me to stick to the plan! I've also discovered some great new protein sources - lentil and black bean pastas. So far we have tried the TruToots green pea and red lentil pastas and they're high protein & delicious. Soon to come - black bean spaghetti - 25 g. protein/serving! Yum yum!

7/27 - 158.5 - I was going to gripe about being this weight for almost 8 days straight, especially since I've stayed real close to my weight loss calories. Then I realized because of our out of town visitors, I've had food that is higher in sodium, I haven't been walking as much, and water has not been my drink of choice. We've got one last barbecue planned for this weekend and then they'll leave on Sunday. I need to enjoy this weekend and not worry about what the scale says. Last week, before they came, I was hoping to maintain and I need to be happy that I did.
7/28 - 159.5
7/29 - 161 - Well, 158.5 looks pretty good right now! I had a little of everything at our picnic yesterday and several drinks, so this is no surprise. I have figured out that exactly 11 years ago I had dieted to 157 lbs. I hit a plateau and stopped counting calories and tracking my weight. This time will be different. I don't regret the overindulgence yesterday, since this time I'm not going to let it derail me. (And we had so much fun!)
7/30 - 160 - Slowly getting rid of the weekend indulgences.

8/01 - 159 - I'm almost there!
8/02 - 158.5 - I can't believe I'm happy to see this number again. I'm really going to try to drop a half pound over the next few days to end this round with a loss. I've been having issues with vertigo (BPPV, I think) the past few weeks which has kept me from doing some of my calorie burning activities. I had this issue a few years ago, but I don't remember it lasting this long.
8/03 - 158.5 - The scale bounced around this morning, but it finally landed here, so I'm taking it. It is pretty amazing how I can go over TDEE calories for one day and my body wants to hold on to the weight. This does not bode well for next weekend when my husband and I go to Amish country for our anniversary. Oh well, as many people in this challenge have said, this is not a race.
8/04 - 158.5 - THIS IS NOT A RACE!!!
8/05 - 159 - I ate a total of 1,304 calories yesterday. I've eaten 1200 or less since Monday. This has got to be water retention. Even though I'm up this round and it hurts to see that, I'm sticking with these challenges, because I feel this is the only way I'll break through to my goal weight.7 -

7/26 - R47 EW 192.0
7/27 - Friday - 192.6 - Well I self sabotaged myself last night. Didnt eat my snack, got home and went to the lake basically in avoidance mode. Starving on the way home and ordered pizza deal. Ate my hunger and my feelings. Woke up super grumpy today - stressed at work. Making a conscious effort to have a better attitude than I woke up with. Late start on water intake today. Had already planned on mexican for lunch so I'm going to enjoy it, log it, and move on. Same with last night - its over and done with. Today may not be too pretty eating wise either but honestly I'm more focused on my mental health today - I know food has a direct correlation to my mood so I'll remember that while being gentle with myself today.
7/28 - Saturday - 193.4 - Made it thru the day with minimal incidence of meltdown nor did I self sabotage - I are when I was hungry and didn't when I was full. Impromptu shopping trip with my mom today. Its bound to include lunch. I'll be present in the moment and listen to those hunger cues again. Happy saturday!
7/29 - Sunday - 194.6 - Oh restaurant food how you toy with my emotions. Not letting it get to me! Had a great day yesterday. Overindulged a bit at lunch. When I came home DH wanted to take me out on a date night for ice cream - so like any child in an adults body I had ice cream for dinner! I didnt spend the day feeling bad about the number, or trying to over compensate eating really well or starve myself. I just trust the process enough to know that tomorrow I'll be back on track.
7/30 - Monday - 193.2 - Ahh yes, rewarded for trusting the process. I was not perfect by any means yesterday. But I have been better about drinking my protein shake in the morning and taking my meds. Also trying to improve my NEAT. NSV's this weekend include, grocery shopping and sticking to the list, food prepped and meal planned for the week yesterday, trying on a bunch of clothes (down to a size 14 from a snug 16) and liking how I looked, handling stressful situations with more grace, and moving more in general! Oh and that pesky appraisal finally came back - it didnt let us down! So things are moving right along again, may even be able to move up closing! Onward!!!
7/31 - Tuesday - 193.2 - Finally got cracking on some cleaning/packing last night. It was a small dent - focused more on cleaning because the apartment is being shown Thursday, which I'm all worried about, because I hardly have friends over, nevermind strangers all up in my business BLAH. But it was great exercise and I made matzo ball soup for dinner before crashing. Happy to say I've cut back my eating out (this included a TON of drive thru in the past) to probably a quarter or less of what I used to do. Cooking at home doesn't have to be hard - and I'm relying on lots of different products to help make it easier. Like steam bag veggies, a frozen meal for lunch, tuna pouches, and bag salads. I try to eat local and organic as much as I can but lets be real...life is crazy and there is nothing wrong with having some help a long the way!
8/01 - Wednesday - 192.4 - Worked my butt off cleaning the house last night and getting to the laundromat - and also managed to make a home cooked dinner thanks to a little food prep on Sunday! Who am I?! I've had to seriously consider what needs my time and energy - because I'm prone to over extending myself and melting down. I'm learning to say NO. to things that do not serve me. NO. is a full sentence - I don't need to explain myself all the time. I am my number one priority right now - and it feels so good to be a little "selfish" after years and years of trying to pour for others out of my own empty cup. This weight loss journey is really blooming into a well rounded journey to better overall health.
8/02 - Thursday - 192.0 - Oh dear I just noticed this is a Sunday round end - usually my high weight for the week so might make a 2lb goal a little lofty - however I will visualize it anyway! Strangers in my house today! But we made a really good dent on getting things moving, packed, and tossed out. Protein shake in the morning and regular medicines have been improving steadily! I think I might make a frozen pizza and a bag salad for dinner tonight and swap the ground chicken for something tomorrow. The kitchen is clean for the time being and I tend to be a hurricane so this should be a nice balance without ordering take out.
8/03 - Friday - 192.0 - TOM imminent - probably today thru mondayish. Weight trends make sense after I realized that. Still visualizing goal weight! I want mac and cheese. Its my usual take out night. I will plan on making it at home to satisfy my craving but not with a 1200 calorie take out meal. Need to grab lunch at the grocery store today...SO CLOSE to going the whole week with just what I have on hand - I'll count it as a win compared to twice daily drive thru's a few months ago. This weekend I would like to meal plan to use up more of what we have in the pantry. I'd also like to start packing up decor and non essentials. Have a great day everyone!!!
8/04 - Sunday - 192.2 - Made mac and cheese last night and enjoyed every bite! Got out for a quick woods walk before tstorms rolled in. Have to get out of the house for showings today and the ice cream place was the chosen meeting spot of our friends. Im going to drink my protein shake this morning and probably have ice cream for lunch. Thats twice this week that ice cream has been a meal. No sweat though I dont plan on making it a habit. I do want to stay accountable for final weigh in tomorrow so I'll plan for a protein and veggie dinner. Visualizing 190!
8/05 - Sunday - 191.2 - Yaaay! Happy with a loss this round. I did not eat a protein and veggie dinner. I ate pizza. But it all fit my calories, so logging it and moving on! Also kinda proud I only ate 2 slices of pizza, and we left half for lunch today...I don't remember ever eating two pieces of pizza and being satisfied but it happened! I saw 189 flash on the scale this morning so that was great motivation!11 -
