I am a reluctant optimist. I try to wrap myself in cynicism, but I know the optimist is still in there somewhere because I get disappointed when the worst case scenario things that I totally expect to happen actually do.

-I'm 39 (and actively seeking ideas for where to celebrate my 40th)
-I suck at all things art- I can't even draw stick figures
    -I enjoy a good debate
-Still, I visit MFP a lot to get a break from politics, arguments and blind apologists
-I hate popsicle sticks. I get the shivers watching somebody eating popsicles. Even writing it turns my stomach.
-I had braces as an adult.
-I graduated top 3 in my class and still managed to get banned from my HS grounds :)
-I love college basketball and professional football, but have no interest in professional basketball or college football.

I've lived in 3 different countries in addition to one I was born in.

Wow! You are brave, free and fearless. Gr8 4 U

Sometimes I think the people who choose to stay living in the US with all that is going on are the brave ones haha.

But living somewhere else besides your home country is something I think more people should try to take advantage of if the circumstances present themselves.

I lived in Asia for a year when I was 19-20 (2 months in Hong Kong, 9 months in The Philippines), and it was an experienced that really allowed me to grow into an adult.

I moved to Panama when I was 27 with my wife who is Panamanian, so that one was not nearly as crazy. We have been here almost 5 years now, and while every place has it's difficulties, I have no intention of leaving anytime soon.

Although I've experienced some unexplainable things, enjoy reading, watching and discussing things like ghosts, aliens on earth, astrology and the like,
I do not believe any of it is true or exsists.

I made a huge mistake many years ago....something that cannot be made right. I sometimes wonder if the maniacal way I approach life stems from that......i rarely think about it consciously anymore, but maybe it drives me.....?

What was the mistake,? must have been a doozy to have impacted so much.

Other than once at my son's wedding and swaying at concerts,

I don’t like romance films, I’m more a Marvel, DC, action, horror girl
The last film I cried at was Han Solo dying

    Did you know that..

    Sylvester Stallone
    Kurt Russell
    John Travolta
    Steve Martin

All tested for the role of Han Solo

The role was actually offered to AL Picino who turned it down for the God Father

Harrison Ford never formally auditioned but had read for other actors auditioning and was eventually offered the role...

People who don't get to know me think I'm a guy whose glass is always half empty. What they don't see is that it is but I find ways to fill it up. Why be satisfied with half full?!

I have basically been my own family since 18yrs old. I have never asked for a penny from my family, or indeed any help. I put myself through uni, travelled there myself, found my own flat, paid my own fees, etc.

That carries on till today. My father has not given me one bit of paternal advice, even now that I am a dad of a 1yr old boy.

My mum offered me no practical in the slightest.

Because if this I am very guarded and closed off, but very warm and welcoming to people I let in. But can have a ruthless streak to those who don’t invest in my friendship

When I was reading your quote, tears came to my eyes. I am here 4 you of you ever need a cyber friend.
