Just started Qsymia

I just started on Qsymia this past Sunday (8/12/18). No results so far obviously. My insurance, thankfully, is covering. Have been battling weight issues since I was a kid. Tried all the fad diets and then some with success, but sadly gained it back. Recently was diagnosed with a thyroid condition, but my endocrinologist feels this may be the ticket to getting me on a positive track to weight loss along with the thyroid medication. Keeping my fingers crossed.

My last GP had me try Contrave, but the side effects were too extreme for me and I quit within a couple of weeks. So far Qsymia has been "good" to me. I'm remaining optimistic.

Will start walking more and am planning on working up to a jog. I see others in the neighborhood going out early and though I love my sleep, I need to do this so I will power through it somehow. LoL Looking forward to hearing / reading success stories of anyone on Qsymia.

Just noticed the OP has left the building. Hopefully, this thread will help someone else in a similar situation.

This was pretty tame. Maybe after she's thought about it for a few days...

She should read the Alli thread

Nothing like a thread about an orange oil slick filling your gonch unexpectedly.

And that just proves you're from Alberta :)

"gonch n. underpants or panties; chones. Editorial Note: According to Katherine Barber of the Canadian Oxford Dictionary, as quoted in the Edmonton Journal in 2004, this word takes a variety of spellings: “In Saskatchewan, it's gauch, gitch or gotch, but in Alberta it's gaunch, ginch and gonch."

I've used phentermine before. You feel AMAZING when you take it but the side effects are super nasty. Dry mouth, anxiety, insomnia, sweating, and when the effects wear off you want to eat everything in sight. I stopped super quick and would never recommend diet pills to anyone looking to lose weight permanently. I'm having way more success just counting calories and increasing exercise, and it has a lot of the positive mood benefits without the side effects.

Yes, that was pretty much my experience with phentermine as well, although the fenfluramine took some of the edge off.

Here's my new favorite post about Phentermine: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10329901/phentermine/p1
I have seen a lot of posts on and off about this and other weight loss drugs. I can vouch that they absolutely work. I have lost a lot weight using Phentermine on and off throughout about a 10 year span.

    BUT...

The weight doesn't stay off. And those side effects? They are real.

You could take Phentermine and lose the weight, but you might end up like me. I'm 30 years old, slightly over weight, and have moderate tricuspid valve regurgitation. As in, I might need open heart surgery because my heart was damaged by Phentermine. To be clear, I never took it for more than a few months at a time, was monitored by a doctor, and did everything "right".

My lifespan has likely been shortened to lose a few pounds. Weight I could have lost on my own with a little bit of gumption. It wasn't worth it.

The info given is that you are all *kitten*. I see the thread is three years old but I bet you’re still *kitten*.

I suspect that most people who were here 3 years ago aren't even around anymore to benefit from your feedback. (I know that quite a few of them aren't, in fact.)

I see that you're fairly new here on MFP, and that this is your first post in the Community. Thank you for giving us such a clear introduction!

Yes, I know, going from three to six is difficult because it requires extra fingers... five on one hand and one SPECIAL one on the other!

    Heh.

If I've posted this once, I've posted it half a dozen times: I'm good at math, but terrible at arithmetic. I can set up complicated spreadsheets with intricate formulas, but I can't make times tables in my head give me the same answer twice in a row, or carry the one. This time, I didn't set up a spreadsheet. :D

I get you Ann! I probably would have counted this with my fingers. Spreadsheets with complex equations, or code to simulate how (for example) two fluids behave in a porous medium is no problem though.

Rowrrr, indeed!!!!!! This is the single best thread I’ve ever read on MFP.

Many of my favorite posters, hitting all the highlights, while even managing to include some solid (🤣🤣🤣) Alli references.

    MFP gold.
