A couple of thoughts from a small, older gal:
CICO is what drives body weight. So yes, you can eat what you want as long as it fits your calorie goal and still lose weight. BUT. . . . .
1. if you are small or old (or both, like me), you will run out of calories very quickly and be very hungry eating calorie dense foods, since small old women like me have a very small maintenance goal (Under 1500) and an even smaller goal if eating at a deficit. (And when you are short, your healthy weight has to be lower and thus your calorie goal is lower. --I am quite overweight at 150 lbs, where a taller gal would be just fine. But for me to lose I have to eat a pretty low number of calories.)
2. your health may suffer. I am finding that as I age I am having to "clean up" my diet to control my cholesterol levels, so even if it fits in my calorie goal, I shouldn't eat that junk. Sigh. I love junk.
