So all I need to do to achieve the perfect tum is to keep my gut sucked in constantly, and also pull up my skin so my belly button looks "normal". And get a hysterectomy. And also learn how to live without oxygen. I'll get right on that...
Our bellies look similar - and I am also bothered by the “frowny” belly button. However, looking at some of these pictures, I wonder if the fat deposition around the stomach that causes that is genetic, or maybe some other factor, rather than due to excess weight. A number of ladies that have posted do have fat there but they don’t have the same shelf over the belly button.

Another set showing the difference posture can make as well as my plank stomach, post tummy-tuck.

If I add some googly eyes, my stomach kinda reminds me of the Martians from Sesame Street.

@Basilin - never thought of genetics being a factor being too blinded by the pointless wish for ABZ OF STEEL, which I'm in th process of deprogramming!
@Evelyn_Gorfram - OMG flying saucer belly button - that I can embrace!2 -

Ladies I just want to say I think its really courageous and awesome that you are all bringing this forward and showing that perfection is actually being not perfect. I have a little daughter and I know how much pressure there is girls to fit societies version of what is considered normal (ie Barbie) and its so nice to see people posting what real woman look like and how our bodies are beautiful temples that change depending on a variety of factors and that we need to love we have! Great post!26

I used this thread for yet another teen getting upset at not having a flat tummy like women in magazines
It was my friend's daughter who used to attend gymnastics and swimming clubs then one day just refused to go or discuss it
Friday night she told me it's cos she's fat that she won't go and along with friends they Google fitness models
I showed her the pictures here of the difference between relaxed poses and flexed/posed
Explained airbrushing and Photoshop too
These types of media have a lot to answer for. She's just going through puberty so bodies doing a lot of changing and all these girls see us how they don't measure up to the models 🙈😢34 -

Lost 35 kg (80lbs) 3.5 years ago.
Been running a lot for 3 years.
I have a sad belly button.

I had a *kitten* body image moment earlier today when I was so over seeing what I call my “pudge”. Then I remembered this thread and realized it was my uterus 🤦🏾♀️ lol so thankful for all the amazing posts that help keep me sane.
Although my body isn’t where I want it to be yet, I’m thankful for its full function while during that time of the month 😑21 -

What is confusing for you? It's real-life women demonstrating what real-life torsos look like in women who have a uterus. No photoshopping, no airbrushing. Sometimes flexing, sometimes not.38 -
its for the many threads with women complaining they cant get rid of the pooch. its to remind people there are organs in there.22

Let’s talk about bloat ladies. And those last few pounds. I’ve put on a little holiday fluff. On someone who’s quite small and relatively lean, you can see what a difference just a couple of pounds can make. I’ve also been experiencing terrible bloat with my cycle lately lasting several weeks. The pic on the right is from 2 days before my cycle. The middle is two days after.
Also, I understand the angle is different, but you get the drift. It’s hard being a woman sometimes.

This morning I weighed in and was at my low weight despite eating ALL the food yesterday... buy lunchtime I had developed a lovely little pot belly bloat... I'll get my period tomorrow!
It's usually gone again my Thursday.
Oh the joys!13 -
I'm definitely feeling the bloat lately too2

This makes me feel normal!
I was putting in my infusion set this morning, and had a moment of "Wow, I look a little pudgy in the middle", but I'm wearing a high-waisted skirt that fit *fairly* normally -- if maybe a little tight, but not tight enough to be concerned.
And I swear, I'm producing as much methane today as cattle.
But no, it's just normal post-weekend bloat.11 -
Ditto on bloat. Fun fact, I also seem to be constipated at the moment ...5
