Never in the history of calming down has anyone ever calmed down by being told to calm down.

My mother in law just told me to jiggle my belly fat so that it can move the fat cells around and burn faster. I don't know if this is the best advise or not, but I sure went to the bathroom and jiggled all the flab I had.. J/S, can't knock it 'till you try it. ;)

I have firsthand anecdotal and observational evidence to back your hypothesis.

But...but everyone here said communication solves everything. How could telling someone exactly what you want (for them to calm down) have the exact opposite effect of what you communicated? HMMM???
