Great wee run this morning - first kilometre with two smalls on bikes. Dropped the smallest at kindy and did another 5km with Miss 6. No whinging at all. Hooray. Although there were a few stops and starts (drinks, jumper off, "which way", road crossings, loose (friendly) dog, god knows what now?!) and one very steep but thankfully short hill that she needed pushing up which nearly killed me!

@fitoverfortymom Sorry to hear that; stress fractures suck, or rather the not being allowed to run sucks. You can have some fun with it though...when friends and co-workers would ask me how my stress fracture was coming along (lower tibia), I would reply "Well it really kinda hurts still when I do this" and then I would stamp up and down violently on my leg. My good leg. The horrified looks you get are priceless.12

Run before circuit training today. I forgot to pack my shoes in my bag, but I did have an old pair at work which I thought was probably a bad idea but I didn't have time to go home (or rather I didn't have time to go home, deal with the dog and try to get out of the house again). I also realized that my ankle is slightly swollen from yesterday's little incident. So I was pretty gingerly trying out a short run but things felt ok so I kept going a little longer. If I don't hyperflex or jump it seems to be pain free. I will baby it though this week. The shoes worked out with no ill effects I think. Hopefully this is not a sign that this week is continuing to be the comedy of errors that was last week.

Hey all! I’m David from North Carolina / Virginia. I have been running 30+ miles a week and just completed my first 1/2 marathon this past weekend! Training for a fulll marathon February 10 in New Orleans which thrilled about!20

@midwesterner Being that you are diabetic, I believe you are at higher risk for non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, so I would ask for an ultrasound to check the gallbladder and liver. My liver function tests were high when my gallbladder went on the fritz, but I can’t remember which ones. Seems safer to rule things out than assume the high numbers are from running. My liver function tests were high last week, but I have other obvious symptoms; it was caused from a medication.

That was STUPID. I know better really I do.
So I am in the locker room and getting my stuff out for what might be my only run this week due to the wedding. My Body Glide is LIQUID - it must have gotten hot in the truck. it spilled out on the rug and the solidified. Then I found out I left all my food at home. No fuel or anything and the temps were in the upper 80's.
STUPID IDIOT, ME GOES FOR A LONG RUN ANYWAYS AND PROMPTLY GETS LOST.
15.5 miles with no fuel, not enough water, in hot conditions with blood sugar issues. Yeah, so much for that IQ test proclaiming me a genius.
I barely made it to the gym to shower and change feeling my blood sugar crashing. I decide to walk to food store (less than a block) to get chocolate milk, but I have my gym bag and often get stopped by security, so I used my ninja skills and sneak in a back door behind an employee to get around security and get to the chocolate milk.
I find a place to sit and drink it. Some dude tries to talk to me "Man you look worse than me" and stuff. SO LEAVE ME BE. sheesh. I then feel my stomach not happy and try to find a bathroom, do not make it and puke by the frozen fish. I do not think they minded though. Did not complain much at least. I finally make it to the bathroom and finish puking there.
Feeling better, marginally, I rush to the self-checkout, fight with the machine because of course, this will be the first time it ever misbehaves for me, and then to my Jeep. I feel bad I did not tell the employees about puking, but really did not think about it at the time. My mind was solely on "45 min drive home, keep eyes open for bathrooms along the way." Well, maybe the fish will let them know
Well, make it home somehow in the lightest traffic I have ever seen, thank God! Now I can recover in peace.
Best part probably is that I was at 15.5 miles, already well into a blood sugar crash. Barely able to walk straight and I was like "I should just go that last 1/2 mile..."18 -
And I've just received confirmation that my 10k today was short.
Important Note on Today's Course
We want to update you on a late course change we adopted in today’s race.
After today’s race began, race organizers and volunteers working the second turn-around point on Memorial Drive were asked for cooperation by area public safety agencies on moving the location of the turn-around point. In an effort to be as responsive and collaborative as possible, we altered the traditional location of this turn-around by approximately 150 meters. The result, unfortunately, was a shortened race course by approximately 300 meters, thereby making the day's race ineligible for records. We apologize for any confusion this may have caused.
That's the first time I've heard of a course being altered after the race has started.0 -

I did 8k this morning. aimed for just a tempo run but started to get a little competitive with myself half way through and started to ramp up my pace, but remembered what my actual goal was and slowed back down. Other than that, nothing to report. it was a beautiful morning with stars out, and the birdsong half way through was wonderful.
My thoughts with everyone with injuries. look after yourself guys!6 -

Monday is usually a rest day. But we are supposed to have rain and storms all day tomorrow so I went ahead and did my run today. It was kind of nice to run in the afternoon and go a different route. In the morning when I start out it is dark so I tend to stick to the same well lit path. Today I ran 5.2 miles. I saw the high school cross country team running over by the park. They all looked like they wanted to die except for one kid who grinned at me and gave me a thumbs up when he saw me. I guess tomorrow will be a rest day and then it is supposed to be in the 50's on Wednesday and Thursday. Maybe fall is really here.

Yeah, I can get that chunk if no one else signs up for it - although FYI to anyone who is still looking to sign up, I'd be happy to give up this section since I've got a longer chunk at the end of the run as well and doing both will be a little bit of a stretch.4 -
Y'all, I might have a problem. I am sitting thinking "I am cold..." most normal people would follow that with "... I should get a sweater or blanket." ME? I follow that with "...I should get a bowl of ice cream"

Dude, be careful though. People die from lows. Even if you fix it quickly it does gradual harm to your nervous system. We like you and want you around for a long time to come!

5 miles on trails. According to the weather forecast this was probably our last day of running in the summer heat, since tomorrow is a lifting day and then we get a thunderstorm, then the temperatures drop thirty degrees. I'm about ready for fall. But I know I'll miss summer when it's blistering cold and rainy!
Pretty average run, we saw two deer and a rabbit, and a guy passing us warned us about a snake. The 90 degree heat wasn't too bad, I think we're finally used to it. And the light was lovely and golden just at sunset.
Funny thing about trails, it seems like whether I run like hell or just run easy, my time comes out almost the same.

20 minute dreadmill this morning. The hotel I'm staying at has these fancy models that show a video moving through various scenery of choice, and the gradient changes slightly according to video (if the trail goes up, so does the ascent etc.) Quite entertaining, for a while at least. Slight niggle in right ankle that fixed itself once warmed up.Sunset crater, I think
I wanted to do an HM this weekend but it's a no go. Will run for Dennis instead.

@midwesterner85 My ALT/AST recently was measured at 55/53. On the results printout the acceptable range is supposed to be 0-35.
The doctors said all my blood levels were normal, though.
A quick google says worrying levels are only when they're 6-7 times the normal range.
I don't think you've said what your numbers were.2 -
Not much to report about this morning's run, it wasn't very pretty, it was cloudy and windy and humid AF. I was hoping I would finally get to run in the rain, but nope. That combined with mindlessly going to fast because I had work to get on with and not enough sleep all made it just a little bit yucky. Got it done though.

Does anyone run in Altra's? I was chatting with someone before Wineglass about them and she really sang their praises. I've had Brooks GTS for years - occasionally try something else but always come back to the GTS. I might get a pair of Altras and put them in a rotation. But if you've tried the Altras, I'd love to hear what you think.

@biketheworld they've been running this race every Columbus Day for the past 42 years, so I'm wondering what the heck happened this year. Very strange. I feel so sorry for the winner who thought she had claimed a new record, and for all the people who thought they'd got new PRs.0

Today is a rest day for me. Good thing, cause it's raining and my dogs don't particularly enjoy going out in this weather...and wet dog isn't the best smell anyway.
I just signed up for Gobble Til You Wobble, a virtual 5K that coincides with the end of C25K training. I'm also planning to sign up for a 12K run in May.5 -
Guys, I haven’t been able to run for the last three(today makes 4!) days and I’m super cranky. Who would’ve thought I’d actually miss/enjoy running? I’m in classes from morning until night today, so I won’t be able to squeeze in a run until tomorrow
Any tips for becoming a morning runner? I try all the time but I always end up shutting my alarm off and going back to sleep5
