Hello guys,
I wanted to know your experience with diet sodas. I know it is zero calories but does it hinder your weight loss when drinking it daily?

I find I become dehydrated by drinking it so I intake a ton more water.

Zero calories, zero effect on weight loss. Weight loss is all about taking in fewer calories than you use so that your body will burn its body fat as fuel.
Diet soda has no calories.21 -
It's arguable that it may have an affect on appetite (causing cravings that otherwise may not have existed), but if you know how much you're eating (through using a food diary accurately) it will not impact weight loss, as it's zero calories.8

No problems for me. It doesn’t dehydrate me, doesn’t give me headaches, and doesn’t cause me to crave sweets.
Some people will find they are sensitive to a specific artificial sweetener and that drinking it will cause headaches. That’s not true for everyone.
Some people find it causes them to crave sweet foods. That can cause problems if they give into the cravings and that causes them to eat maintenance or in a surplus.
In general though if you are in a calorie deficit than diet soda will have no impact as it has little to no calories.13 -
I drink diet sodas often.
Because it has very little calories it has very little effect on my weight loss7 -
Stopped drinking diet soda about 3 years ago. Regardless of zero calories, the sweetness affects food cravings and the sodas contain additives that are questionable.41

For some people this may be true, it is not true for everyone. Also, what are the questionable additives?11 -
I have no problems with them. I have Diet Dr Pepper probably 2-3 times per week. No issues. Also drink lots of tea (hot and iced) with Sweet 'n Low without problems.2

I have no problem with them and lost all my weight while using them. I wouldn't worry about it.3

Maybe for you. Certainly not universally true or demonstrated in peer-reviewed literature.12 -
Diet sodas provide enough mouth feel to keep me from eating food. Diet soda is a helpful tool in my weight loss toolbox.22

I've been counting calories since January 2015, first to lose weight and then to maintain my weight loss. During that time, I've had periods where I've had multiple diet sodas a day, around one diet soda per day, and no diet soda at all. I've never noticed any stalls or unexpected weight gain related to consuming diet sodas. I consider them to be just another, albeit more expensive, form of water.
What I do notice is that, for me personally, diet sodas make it easier for me to eat less. I notice this especially when I have one in the late afternoon, it seems to replace my desire for a snack.10 -

Hmmm... Imma try this afternoon snack avoidance technique, since diet soda tends to do the same for me. Thank you for pointing this out and giving me the idea!
OP - try the diet soda - if it helps, keep drinking it. If it doesn't, maybe switch to tea or water?10 -
I think it makes my sweet tooth worse, so I guess it might indirectly hinder my weight loss if I give into my craving.3

I switched from full sugar soda to sparkling water when I first started dieting. I do drink Coke Zero quite a bit. Hasn't hindered me at all. I drink WAY less of it than I ever drank regular soda, though. I love fizzy drinks and mostly do sparkling water anyway.2

For me: does not increase cravings for sweet foods (actually helps settle cravings), no calories = no net weight gain, 99% water (helps keep me hydrated). All in all, it's a good addition for my weight loss process.4

I was coming in to say the same. I have a diet Dr Pepper everyday, but my love for Coke Zero vanilla or diet cream soda never dies.3 -
I use to drink diet soda alllllllll the time (everyday) and I would lose weight just fine.
I stopped because I'm trying to save money right now and water and coffee is cheaper than soda.10 -

I tend to keep coke zero, diet dr pepper, and diet wild cherry pepsi on hand. I haven't tried the vanilla ones. Diet cream soda would be nice. Diet root beer with ice cream would be nice.5 -
I was brought up on diet soda lol. I’m trying to cut down, but if my choice is diet soda or something with calories, diet wins. 🙂2

I don't think the diet drinks hinder weight loss, if you're careful about what you eat, but, like regular sodas, most diet sodas are probably unhealthy for one reason or another. Due to the bad reports, my husband insists I stay away from Aspartame and Sucrose, so I use liquid Stevia to sweeten hot and iced tea. I buy Zevia sodas (sweetened with Stevia), but I sneak in an occasional Diet Dr. Pepper on rare occasions when I don't have iced tea with me. I'm leery of artificial sweeteners. I switched from Stevia packets to liquid Stevia, because the packets I used have extra ingredients which add 2g of carbs.19

I'll tell you what, the day my husband insists what I eat or don't eat, that'll be an interesting day for the ole marriage, a very interesting day indeed.38 -

Fortunately, my husband is a sweet, smart man who looks out for my best interests. I don't always agree with his opinions, but I respect him.13 -

My husband respects me and I respect him. That's why we don't attempt to dictate what the other can eat. It's cool because I never have to sneak a soda.24
