Miss 6 has been asking to run with me for a while now, but Miss 4 got her first pair of running shoes yesterday and as I tucked her into bed last night she asked if she could come for a run with me. Of course I said yes. What I wasn't expecting was for her to trot up the stairs at 6:45 this morning, dressed in shorts (she never wears shorts - strictly skirts and dresses for her) and her new running shoes, and tell me she's ready to go! So cute.

Hey all. After the weather looked so awful this morning, by the time I went out it was clearing and ended up with blue skies and just a breeze! I thought I would do 16k but I could tell at 15 I was starting to get a blister on my right foot. Decided another km wasn't worth it so stopped. Then went to a friend's place and spent the afternoon building a chicken coop - lots of hammering (and not just a little bit of swearing - especially when the hammer hit a finger...) so im absolutely beat. I'm laying here so tired... So rest day tomorrow (yay). Sleep...7

Ooh, looks good. Never done a virtual run before. Thinking 60km (it is a mad time of the year...)
I'm challenging myself, doing the 90...
Garmin steps say I do around 400-450 km per month. Not sure whether to go for 150 km or 240 km in the 12 days. Also couldn't see whether I can do it as an Aussie.2 -
Did the Portland 3 Bays Half Marathon and was happy with my time. Out of 22 runs of HM distance, this was my 4th fastest; 2nd fastest race HM.
I wanted to be under 2 hr 10 min and I was.
Feeling recovered after Melbourne Marathon 3 weeks ago and legs feel good after today. It was awesome to run from one side of the peninsula to the other. The weather was perfect, with a little drizzle and a little sun in parts, but mostly cloudy with a tail wind.
There was a climb of over 50m in the first km and undulations the whole way which nearly did my head in! Hahaha. Hoping to do more HM races this month.

Ah I may have read it wrong, I see it says it supplies shoes to kids in aus and nz, that may be where I got the idea it was NZ and Aus, sorry!
Well done on your Half! Love the pics and nice bling!1 -
Been away for a couple of days and 12 pages to catch up on, y'all type as much as you run!
Had a tough 7km run on Thursday up and down a hill that tried its best to kill me. Slowest 3.5k ever (like 30 minutes or so!) as in the end I was running for 60 seconds and walking for 30, but then I kinda flew back down (think steep dirt track sloping downwards and the wind behind me, there may have been an arms out sideways 'titanic' moment but I had the woods to myself so nobody will ever know). Actually came down so fast it ended up being around 90 seconds quicker altogether than the flat 7km I did at home in the rain on Tuesday.
This morning was 11km, my longest run so far. I survived, last 3km or so were a bit of a mental battle and my legs feel like they'll be sore tomorrow, but it's over. Now to bear the runger til lunchtime.
As my half draws closer I range between moments of confidence to moments of pure terror and absolute certainty that my perfectly good training plan is really cr@p and I'm going to be horrifically undertrained and will probably die.
Strangely though (as I'll probably die so it won't be an issue), while running and fretting over not having enough miles under my belt I'm already thinking about what I'll be looking for in another training plan for another half in March. Am I just plain crazy? (Asking for the little voice in my head).
2/11: 7km
4/11: 11km
November goal: 125km. Completed so far: 18km8 -

Hahaha. I have yet to do more than a 10K, which was 9 years ago when I was terribly under trained. So, I totally get it. I am hoping to get to the place where I can do a half and then a full marathon. I'm pretty sure the little voice in my head will be joining yours if that ever happens. I have a feeling you are going to do great and surprise yourself, and the little voice in your head.

Nope, you sound like a fairly normal person that runs for exercise. That is pretty much how we all feel much of the time.
I would say that 9/10 runners that finish <big race> talk like they will never do something like that again and then within a few days are looking for the next <big race> or often the next even <bigger race>. There is something about this sport that is subtly addictive.11 -
I haven’t run since Thursday morning and I’m feeling weird about it. I know it was wise to skip my long run Friday because Saturday morning my cold was just about gone. Of course, feeling much better Saturday meant that I questioned whether I really needed to skip- lol
The mental games are maddening!!
My 5 year old daughter had her first swim meet Saturday morning
She lost her first race and she was sooo upset. I kept explaining to her that mommy loses races all the time and that all we can do is try our very best. She didn’t seem to care - lol she was in much better spirits when I got her a blueberry muffin

@zdyb23456 Absolutely Adorable!!!!! Cutest little fish I've ever seen!3

@eleanorhawkins yep your crazy, the good kind haha. And yes I know what you mean. Doing the 15k yesterday I felt. Great at the start but started to struggle at 14k, quit at 15 cause of a blister forming (wrong socks grrr). And I was annoyed cause last week I did 20! I think 14/15k seems to be a bit of a wall for me cause I'm always feeling it then, but I know if I keep going I get past it.
And yes while running I'm dreaming of my next run. Haha.4 -
@Orphia Congrats on your half! Great time, especially 3 weeks out from your marathon. You are a powerhouse!
Great to see pictures of the kids running and swimming! Fantastic!

I'm still at a big fat 0 for November and loving it. I got together with a bunch of my running friends for coffee this morning, but we did not run. It's my birthday (the big 50) and we had a lovely time celebrating that and last week's marathon - there were several there that had run it also. I feel so lucky to have found this great group of friends.
Legs are starting to feel really recovered. I had a lovely walk with Stella this morning on a beautiful fall day. Tomorrow I will try a little running. But this is the first weekend I haven't run at all in ages so I'm going to just enjoy the rest of today. I have a massage in a little while and then the movies and dinner.
Hope everyone is having a glorious day.

Rest day today. I'm going to go for a walk at lunch time to stretch the legs, and do some stretches. T-minus 11 days! (I'm not getting excited, am I lol)9
-
@Orphia Congratulations on your half, great time!
@zdyb23456 It's so hard to learn sportsmanship! I was lucky to have a great trainer when I was young, who pointed out that every competition can only have one winner and all the other competitors wanted to win just as much as I did. I am not a naturally good loser even as a big kid, as a little kid I was terrible! I guess I needed a blueberry muffin!
@katharmonic great picture of Stella! Happy birthday!6 -

@katharmonic - Happy Birthday!
Couldn't ride today because of rain... so got to run. However, I slept in (even with the extra hour!) and it was too hot for me.. so just went for 3. Looks like the amazing cool weather we've been having may be headed out for a bit. Oh well, awesome while it lasted!
11/1 - 4 miles
11/2 - rest day
11/3 - 44 miles cycling + transform app - deload week, arms
11/4 - 3 miles + transform app - deload - legs

@katharmonic W00T! You survived another trip around the Sun!2

Good on you! well done! and that course looks beautiful.
@ContraryMaryMary yay for first kids' run, parenting done right!
@katharmonic what a lovely birthday! and your doggie is adorable.
@zdyb23456 she is adorable! I know it's tough when you're a little kid and understanding how a competition works. Yay for blueberry muffin!
Ran (slowly) 8.6 miles. Knee felt achy at times but it went away.
So for November so far I ran 16.7 miles. Tomorrow will be upper body only - arm crank erg and weights.
11/2 Friday 4.5
11/3 Saturday 3.6
11/4 Sunday 8.6
@hanlonsk good to see you here too! My challenge is doing both weights and running without straining something. Some time back I was deadlifting on one day, then ran the next and strained a hamstring.

I had the same doubts even though I know I had done all the training. However, when I calculated the pace I'd have to run to achieve the goal I wanted I thought, "that's just not possible", then I looked back at last year's pace and thought, "did I really run that speed? I can't maintain that pace", and so on and so on. But race day rolls around regardless and you do your thing and have a blast, and nearly die, and then you sign up for your next event!!

lol thanks, I have to admit I have had to be really firm with myself to stop myself signing up for the next one before even completing the first. I am apparently a race addict. Luckily (for now) my crazy brain still considers a full marathon to be WAY too much. Fingers crossed it doesn't change its mind after discovering a half is possible, or I'm really *kitten*!
@katharmonic happy birthday!3 -
11.5 miles today. No rain, but it was a bit chilly and windy. And I stayed in my small town, which meant a lot of loops.
I plan to try to get the rest of my weekly planned miles at the gym tonight while watching TWD.
8 -
11/1 = 18 miles
11/2 = rest day
11/3 = rest day
11/4 = 16 miles
November goal miles = ? / 34 miles-to-date
Upcoming Races:
11/11 = Hill County Trivium (just doing the half)
11/22 = Georgetown Turkey Trot
12/15 = Stars at Night Half
1/26/19 = Miami Tropical 5K
1/27/19 = Miami Marathon
3/10/19 = ZOOMA half (potentially)
5/4/18 = Wisconsin Marathon (mittens challenge part 1)
5/5/18 = Kalamazoo Marathon (mittens challenge part 2)7 -
5.8 miles today. It was my first really crappy run. The first one that didn't make me feel better. I actually felt terrible at the end. It was cool and super windy. My clothes were too hot and I developed some odd ankle pain about half way. Also had to walk a bit which just ruined my mentality. I finished it but just didn't enjoy it.8
