Did my first run/walk in about a month. It wasn't pretty, but it is in the books and I feel great that I got out there and did it. Went 1.5 miles in 21 minutes (I should have made my ticker tracker a snail. LOL)
@BruinsGal_91 Your picture is very pretty. I love the fall colors. Glad you had a great run, even in the rain.4 -
I'm with @Scott6255 , no great words of wisdom here but reading y'alls posts has been inspiring.
For myself, looking forward to running at least a short distance Monday, maybe hills or other speedwork. Idk, just know that this cold has kicked my *kitten*. Jealous of all the mileage posts.
@PastorVincent a more timely lesson I could not imagine.
@shanaber and ddmom-great pic.
@lkpducky so sorry to hear about your friend. Sounds like he was the best kind.
@fgsn I just did my first HM in 5 years on 16 weeks of training, no plan. Consistency is key as @marisap2010 said. Good luck.3 -
Not looking like a run today. Too many surprises... I might actually break down and do an hour on the dreadmill later though.7
-
11/1/18 5 miles
11/3 3 miles
Total 8 /60-90 miles
"slept in" for me then enjoyed a leisurely cup of coffee before my run. It was pretty warm out but not awful. Not much to say today.4 -
11/1 - 2.30 km
11/2 - rest
11/3 - 5.43 km officially, but forgot to start watch
7.63/???
Real goal: stop with the walk intervals, start rebuilding base without reinjuring me.
So today I did something scary, stepped way outside my comfort zone, and went to a local trail running group meetup.
Anyway, ran a bit too far for my ankle to be really happy with me but I also thoroughly enjoyed myself. I'll call it a win. Pictures below the spoiler tags - hard to believe that's in the middle of a city of almost 1 million people.
I did a doofy thing and forgot to turn on my Garmin until we'd been gone at least 1 km, maybe a bit more. Oops!

*Ima let y'all chew on those questions before i share please continue.5 -
I'm gonna follow up this monthly question with another. i wanna know, i want you to think about what is healthy? What does healthy look like? A hint: You wont find it in the media.
Health can have many facets to it...we see it mainly identified as physical health and mental health, but there's also financial health and social health (quality of relationships with others) and emotional health (stress for example), among others, so it's a difficult question to answer because you can be healthy in some areas, and unhealthy in others.
And then it all interweaves...someone may be physically and mentally fine, but suffer from poor financial health, which can take a toll on emotional health, leading to a potential impact on social health.
It's all a bit too deep for me on a Saturday, so I'm gonna go and keep a watchful eye on my son as he grills burgers and make sure he doesn't set fire to the pergola or something.11 -
I got to take my girls for their first ever run today! Miss 6 has been asking to run with me for a while now, but Miss 4 got her first pair of running shoes yesterday and as I tucked her into bed last night she asked if she could come for a run with me. Of course I said yes. What I wasn't expecting was for her to trot up the stairs at 6:45 this morning, dressed in shorts (she never wears shorts - strictly skirts and dresses for her) and her new running shoes, and tell me she's ready to go! So cute.

As was said by @garygse very well...and yes much too deep for a Saturday.4 -
Today I got to run 2.93 miles. It sucked. Everything hurt, I couldn’t get a steady pace going, and it was cold. But I ran. I couldn’t not run after that speechifying I did this morning! That’s part of why these forums have been such a big help to me, first in losing weight, then starting strength training, and now running: when you encourage others, you encourage yourself. Y’all are great.

For the Americans among us...
11 -
Well, I’m on the board with 1.9 miles. While it was snowing. Because after all the talk the last months of why one should run in the rain... 28 degrees and snowing and blowing probably falls in line... right? Although my layering isn’t working. My skinny kid clothes are toooooo tight to layer with right now. My fat kid clothes are still kind of loose, and there aren’t many in my closet. So my core ended up too warm, and everything else wasn’t quite warm enough. But I did it.13

Ummmm... not this American.0 -
@PastorVincent It happens in parts of Canada, too.
Ran W1D1 of C210k on the dreadmill. Covered the time on the display and only looked at my phone twice. It was nice, not checking how long I'd ran for and how long I had left. That was definitely hurting me in the past.

Ummm... Tonight in American we set the clocks back one hour... so the joke is very much American and makes no sense in places where they are not setting the clocks back one hour tonight. (and a few places in America actually... the last bastions of common sense!) On a different night of the year when other people are doing it, then the joke will before them.

Except Thou Shalt Not set back a clock which automatically adjusts itself between Daylight Savings Time and Daylight Wasting Time.11 -
I was fishing mearly for something along the lines of "change towards healthier choices" and against stagnation and the acceptance of self harm, regardless of how it was applied. I was also trying to challenging our mental images of healthy.

I did 10.02 very slow miles today in the pouring rain. I wanted to do a lot more, but the rain just got to me... my hands were so cold in my soaking gloves. Also, it was supposedly in the 40's F, but I could see my breath. And my CGM failed, BG's were not doing well but I didn't know until I finished and went to a bathroom to change and check BG.
