RUN THE YEAR 2019

Options
This thread is being created for those of us participating in RUN THE YEAR 2019.

For those of you not familiar, the challenge is to run/walk/hike 2019 miles in 2019 either solo or as a group. Please find the link below if you are interested.

https://runtheedge.com/run-the-year-2019/

Since the challenge doesn't actually start for a few more weeks, let's kick this off with the HUG A RUNNER challenge. Hug a runner encourages the 2019 registered participants to complete multiple 5ks between 11/20/2018 and 11/30/2018 for a chance to win $500 each day.

Let the running begin!!!!

    Hi Group!

I am Beka, a 42 YO newbie runner from the Atlanta area. I have been running what seems like every 5k in a 50 mile radius. I lack consistence M-F, so I joined RUN THE YEAR to help correct that. I will be completing this journey in a 2 person team. We both have equal goals of 1008 miles for the year.

For a little cushion -- my mileage goal is 100 miles a month for 2018.

Now - GO LACE UP THOSE TRAINERS and let's get moving!!!

I could see that if she shared her personal sign up link but she didn't... but who knows. The rules always seem to differ at times

It's a tempting goal! I might go for it walking/running/cycling, though this year I'm only up to about 1300 miles so it may be a stretch too far...

My goal is an equal team effort of 1008 - less than 100 per month. I think that is quite do-able

    I run 4times a week

That would be 4 x 10 mile runs

Ok, so you mean you can join teams and combine your miles? That would be doable. Otherwise there's no way I could come close to walking 2019 miles next year.

I will be using my Garmin which counts steps. So mine will be a combo of walk/run.

Yes, your team can combine miles. I will be teaming up with my current running buddy. Our goal is 1008 each. This is 20 miles a week - totally do-able

This year I'm on track to walk 1100 and run 1800. Last year I hit a combined 3000+. It isn't that difficult if you can combine activities.

I was supposed to run a 5k this am, but my partner has strep and I didn’t want to make the 1:20 drive alone and cold... so I will attempt a solo 10k at a local park. Wish me luck!!!

I haven’t ran over 5k since the Peachtree Road Race on 7/4/18. And TBH I walked almost half of it.

I have a 15k planned in feb and there are time requirements. I need to get my butt in gear.

    Happy running!!!

@navydaddjtc @mechell15 and @boehle, are we going to do it as a team? If it is equal then it will be 504.75 or ~505 miles each; ~42 miles/month or 10.5 miles/week. I walk a lot more than that already, so I think my goal will be to run that and then walk the other days. My half marathon is in March. Reading the rules, we can also try to do the whole enchilada solo. Now THAT is intimidating. Good luck @beka3695. Later.

That is why I like the 2 person group. My original goal was 1000 miles before I found this challenge. So the challenge is just some extra incentive

I am Alan. I am 57 y.o. and definitely a newbie runner. I haven't run with purpose since college. I have run 4 5K's this year including the one from today to support Alzheimer's research for a cure.
