Phenomenal special effects...but way too intense for me. And waaaaaay too loud. I was really glad when it was over. It was an assault on my senses, LOL! I'm a delicate flower.

We went to a concert in Phoenix on our way through during the 6-week US leg of our RTW travels in 2012.
We enjoyed it, but did think they could have toned it down just a bit and focused a little more on the music. I have one CD but would like to get them all!

Still at my daughters until dec 17. Then back to work for 2 weeks and back here jan 7-31. Not getting much exercise chasing around a toddler but keeping my eating on track. I weigh at work so hope to see a loss when I am there next. Helping out with 2 newborns and a toddler keeps my hands full so they are not reaching for food.
Keep on pushing forward my friends

Karen - love the photos! I was amazed at how well the Taj Mahal lived up to its hype. My main surprise was how BIG it is! Nice to see a photo of your friend.
I'm awake early, as usual, but we went to bed in good time. I got various things out of the freezer last night for the lunch. DH's daughter is quite laid back about decor, tidiness, etc. so I'm not fretting too much about that and the meal is one we have regularly. "Hairy Bikers". Basically, a chicken, chorizo, potato, onion, tomato and red pepper bake. Seasoned with paprika and oregano. It's portion controlled from their diet book, so 400 calories a portion. I'm serving cabbage with it. Dessert is my home baked orange and almond cake, (I will have a very thin slice) with Marrocco's wonderful chocolate ice cream. I will try to have a small portion.
We do have time to do our exercises this morning before she arrives, so I have some leeway. I hope the weather will be good enough for a blowy walk by the sea, but I can hear the wind at the moment. If we can get another hour's walk in that will help. I'm serving DH and myself Tricolore salad for supper tonight. Avocado, buffalo mozzarella, and tomatoes with LOTS of garlic, basil and olive oil. Oooops! Calorific. It's one of my very favourite things on earth. (Must have really good mozzarella.) So the more walking the better.
My weight has been stable since I've been in Hove at 138 lbs. That's just under my target weight of 140. I'm happy with that. I'm 5ft 4 ins. I worry, at my age, 69, about my face looking scraggy, so I don't want to go too low. I feel too young to look old!
Time to take DH up his tea and start our day.

Lisa, Egg's wandering looking for the door into summer... one of my favorite Heinleins Knowing what's in what you eat, even when more expensive, totally worth it. Pay the grocer or pay the doctor, you choose.
KJ Joaquin Awwwwww!
pip would love to hear the story of how you and Kip met...
Tracey love Love LOVE your skies!
Heather neither does my DH "get it" when I'm whipping myself up into a tizzy prepping for guests. Sometimes his calm "they're not coming here to see a clean house, they're coming here to see you!" makes me just crazy. I have to almost mini-melt down before I can enjoy guests. Good thing we live FAR AWAY from most. . . ;}
Lanette and Katla, thank you for H A L T ! Ditto Lanette, I don't use my Facebook login for anything but Facebook, especially not MFP. Hate how "linked" everything has become... the better to sell you more my dear.
Barbie love the pic, the coat, your smile and that I recognize the shoes...

Machka I'll take the "US"
Poured out the most recently tried bottle of AF wine. Not squandering calories on something that doesn't taste right. Indulged in 2 glasses of Michel-Schlumberger 2012 California Merlot. Yummy! But 8 oz was too much, woke up almost hangovery. Next time I'll try to hold it back to 6 oz or even 4. Filled up so much on green salad, garlic roasted cauliflower. that I couldn't eat more than half the mushroom mozzarella bake and could not finish the oil dipped slice of sourdough bread. Now that is a FIRST for me, not being able to finish 54 g of sourdough!
Lighter, lovelies!

Barbara - glad one of my fellow sci-fi nuts caught that one. I didn't have an indoor cat for 30 years, as my ex-husband was allergic, so I got tickled when Egg was small and she would keep me checking doors for her whenever she didn't like was outside the first one, weatherwise.
Michele - the Wordpress isn't the hardpart, the database is, and if it's not done well can be a nightmare. Egg and Mrr still don't get along, either, but we no longer separate them. They've got to come to their own detente, and neither has yet emerged bleeding, it just sounds all stabby and cranky. When we leave, we come back and find Egg asleep as high as she can go, up on the top of the china cabinet. Mrr's older, doesn't climb up at all, so I assume that's her way of finding a spot where she feels safe and relaxed.
I'm not sure who asked, and they may have found out already... But this is how you add a spoiler. Note, I've put it in a spoiler, so those who aren't interested can skip it!Type or copy and paste whatever it is that you want to hide from view with a spoiler. Highlight what you would like to hide. Click the little "format" symbol that's actually a "pilcrow" or paragraph mark, the one that looks like a backwards P with a dropdown arrow. Choose "spoiler" from the dropdown and it will put two codes in that look like this, one on each side of your hidden text: [ spoiler]your stuff will be here[ /spoiler] (note, I've added spaces inside the brackets, so the codes won't trigger.) This is actually a form of HTML code. The first bracket word starts the spoiler, and the second one uses the forward slash to stop the code from continuing.
As an aside, when you click the command "quote" under someone's post to use the quote function, and you go down to the reply box and see the two codes [ quote] and [ /quote] on each end, it's a similar function. If you go past that end bracket and type in your own comment, it will show outside the gray quote box, as the one with the forward slash stops the action the code is doing. If you type in between the brackets, that's when your comment will show up inside the gray box along with what you're quoting. If you only want to keep one line of someone else's post that you're trying to quote, you can delete everything inside the codes that you don't want to keep, but make sure you leave the bracket codes intact, and it works fine.
On all of the codes, you can actually simply type them in yourself (without the spaces I've added inside the brackets!) and they work just fine, as well. You just have to put one at the beginning, and then the one with the forward slash at the end.
Thus endeth this morning's lesson. Read at your own risk.
Well, my husband and son ended up insulating the attic yesterday, which was an expensive proposition, but well worth doing. While he was up there, Corey found that that the duct junction where the hot air was going into the bathroom was completely separated, so we were heating the attic rather than the bathroom. He was particularly pleased to be able to repair a duct with duct tape. I thought that was funny. But I'm hearing the heat cut on and off much less frequently this morning, and it stays on for shorter periods of time, so it's already working better. The insulation will pay for itself in the end, and shouldn't have to be done again for a decade or so. I'm pretty sure most of what was up there was the original insulation from the 1960s!
Eventually, we plan to insulate the floors as well, but as that will entail crawling under the house, it will have to wait for the summer.
Mannheim Steamroller matinee today! And we'll be putting a ham in to bake low and slow while we're gone, so it should be a lovely, easy dinner. High sodium, but still yummy.
I'm off to Little Rock tomorrow for my first day of work, get my tour of headquarters, and get some idea of the strategies, budgets and goals for my new grant-writing position. Will take an overnight bag, just in case.
Love y'all!

Good Morning! The Southeastern part of the U.S. is experiencing a major winter storm. It's in North Carolina now, and will arrive in central Virginia where I live at about noon. There is a potential for 3-7 inches of snow accumulation by 3-4pm when I leave work. Hope I don't get stuck at work.
Karen in VIrginia glad we got the snowblade on the lawn tractor5 -
morning ladies~ I am up and staggering... had a great time at the cookie swap... but it would have been better if I had felt better..and today still feeling yucky... but going down to the nursing home christmas party.. to be with DFIL ...i think i will skip going down and feeding him breakfast as I will be down there for the party, and then im supposed to go see a band play.. but think I will skip that.. I haven't done much cleaning and have to get it ready for Wed night...
the Office Manager called me yesterday afternoon, she worked for me yesterday as I was using up my sick time for the rest of the year....well hey ive been sick since tuesday... anyway she was fit to be tied... she has had just about enough of Mary.. you have heard me talk about her.. she is a bully and is never happy.. doesn't really do her work and talks all the time, wont answer the phone etc....
I told you about her waiting for me on her day off so I didnt show up early... left her a note on her car and basically told her to mind her own business, she called me in on my day off to work because Allison was sick,,, and was fine, but that is because she needed me..she has also defriended me on Facebook.. oh well
I come in sit in the back office ,so my work and help out with whoever needs it and go home, I treat people with kindness because you dont know everyone's story..
Allison (OM) was ranting and raving, about she will talk to the owner, wants me to do more hours and sit up front with her...I told her I sort of have to just be neutral and stay out of this... you are the office manager and you need to speak with Dr Ho about your concerns,,,I need my job and if Mary keeps up the way she is going she will be out of a job...she has a son in college and her husband will be retiring from the fire department in January..
So tomorrow should be very interesting at work... again I will go in the back and do my work and keep my mouth shut6 -
Thinking about you, Allie... hope you feel better soon.0

Thank you for the compliments on the ornaments. Had an ok sale day yesterday and will be heading to another show today.
Tonight my eldest daughter and I are going alone to see the CP holiday train. It is in town too late for the Grands and we found out the neighbouring town doesn’t have the full performance. She is named in honour of my Dad so it will be a special evening for both of us tonight. Tomorrow night we are going in the City again to see the train but my youngest daughter and Grands will join us!
Off to paint an ornament and make some breakfast! We have a set of 3 that includes Mary and baby Jesus, the wisemen and the Manger. Last week someone bought the Manger and we hadn’t replaced it. Of course, yesterday a lady wanted all 3! She said she would show up today to get it. We’ll see if she does.
Have a great day ladies!

Came back to a delivery of a chrome shoe rack for my wardrobe. We've put it together (ooouuufff ) so I'm about to see how it fits in the wardrobe and how many pairs of shoes I can get on there. It's expa a a a ndable.

Karen in Virginia, Michele, Peach, and any others in path of the big East Coast storm: Take care!!!!
Machka: Your beach Christmas reminds me of living in Hawaii. Trying to remember why I moved away...
Lisa: Give my best to the CEO of your new council. Soooooo happy for you and them!
Tracey: Good luck with the sale today. Your ornaments are beautiful.
I'm feeling a bit low in energy today. Must drag myself to the gym, but will get there because I know the alternative will just make me feel worse. Stay well, friends. We can do this.

One thing in the house is the macrame tree but not hung up yet. I hope the lights are in the garbage bag where the tree is put. Now to get Louis to put the tree up then hang up the bows on them since the boys got upset when I hung bells on their racks, so to make them happy the bows will come out again, and my 3 manger scenes. I haven't had a tree in a couple of weeks, I might wrap up some boxes to put around the bottom of the tree that I will put in front of the box addressed to me and Louis. I was so far behind the posts I just skipped ahead.
Had an MRI on Thursday which my oldest took me too; Louis was dizzy again, looked a little gray as he talked about throwing up. When we got home, he was worse and Trey called his Dad's (and his) MD giving the nurse a summary of his symptoms; then she put him on the phone and asked him several things, like how long has he had the problems, and told to do a few things. He then told Trey some tests on his Dad, hung up the phone and called 9-1-1; Trey told me what was going on and said he could be 1/2 way to Americus before the ambulance could get there; so he took him in the car. I was upset because he would not me go, still a little hung over from the pill(s) they had given me to make the noise of the MRI would bother me saying he could not take us both because he could not help both of us. I called him every 30 minutes and he told me they had already come out to get him brecause of going though 'Triage' and they considered his condition was dire, so they took him right back into the ER section so they could assess him. That was the 1st time I talked to Trey and every 30 minutes after they took him back; by the 2nd call they had taken several tubes out of him, getting him ready for 1 of 2 CT Scans, EKGs and whatever they needed to rule out a stroke, they found that he had a UTI and had to have an antibotic and was then sent home. I often worried if Dr. Jones was expecting a call to come to the hospital in Albany; but I was so upset that he had not waited for the ambulance because if he was having a stroke he had nothing in the car to help him save his life and they would. I then told him, that is how I felt like all 4 times I had a black out and found myself on the floor. He said he had never felt that miserable. But, the next day he went to work. MEN! So many don't take care of themselves. I am pretty sure that they told him to 'follow up' with his own MD; I will need to have the appointment because he won't make one. They also told him he needed to get his eyes checked. I've been asking him to go get them checked as they look gray to me. They also told him to get his ears checked - now that will be a hard drive. I've been a little stressed out at the PA (at my NeuroMD for not returning my call) about the black outs that i have been having for the past 6-weeks or two months. When I went to his office I would see him once, and the PA for the next. I don't particulate that; especially he had just weaned me off the Dilantin. She told me she would talk to him - ok, when? I will give her until Wednesday of next week (or maybe I should call her on Monday to find ouy if this is week to be talk to her and let her go speak to him.
I have had a mild headache; but, not bad enough to take medication got it. As I thought Jenn has stopped her
mood stablizer which abouy normal for her. She doesn't want to be like me; but, try as she may ot try as she does, the MD needs to be the one who takes her off them.
After taken my Conlanzapam I woruld have to talk to my NeuroMD about what is going on. My PscheMD has left the practice he was in to work at the hospital every other weekend and as soon as they find an office for him, will then start seeing out patients. He was the MD of record. When I get low on any of it, I will call my own MDs here in Albany to call it in. Since I had my last one, my typing with my hands on the 'home keys have suxed when trying to type I used to do - without having to look at the keys. Much harder than on my desktop with the cupped keys. But I would rather be here with Louis and not stuck in tru to put in my office. There are so many things that I would rather hang on my wall in there and have it appear less cluttered. I want to hang my Daddy's law certificates along with his picture on the wall over my desk. Then I have 5 or 6 sayings that I would like to get frames for them and hang them up on the side wall, with my ribbons from entering art shows; then figure out where to hang some of the other stuff. In the shuffle I am unable to find one of the documents; but, like my Chinese warrior and maybe my ring will show up as well.

- now you have some Mother(s) confused about where that other sock went when they get ready to put them together. LOL! I know you probably bought several msny psgshrd. socks. That was such a good idea. My Mother made 6 stockings for 'her' grandchildren and and I might decide to make sure each of my grandchildren have one, one of these days. But Louis is in the computer room with a hammer. Wonder what he is doing in there to fill them takes a small at I use to get up in our bed. We will have to measure the walls; but, since I got out of the hospital I sleep in the middle of the bed; I think we could put the queen-sized bed in put bedroom and our king-sized bed in the 2nd bedroom. But the is something I will have to talk to Louis about. He probably would not care. When we decide what to do with the carpeting or putting down hardwood on our kitchen, computer room and tile in the bathroom, and carpeting in the rest of our house, we've got a corner cabinet that would not fit a new TV. Since Will's corner cabinet is just a bottom of something, we might get him to measure it and tell us what size his TV in. If I saw the perfect table we could put ours and move the chairs futher apart and down towards the way they are now. I don't remember what we paid for it; but, could go back to the furniture store and find out what we'd have to pay if we were getting a new one.
Louis needed my hand helping him fix my drawer in my lingerie chest of drawers that fits the wall between the tub and toilet; but that room will be worked on after a few other things are done. That was what he was using the hammer for.
MERRY CHRISTMAS!
HAPPY HANUKKAH!

Tracy, your ornaments are lovely! Enjoy the holiday train!
KJ, sorry to hear about your MIL, I sure hope your hubby does go to see her, and soon. When my dad was in hospital and the end was near, my older son and I went there for a few hours early afternoon. That night, around 7, I just got the feeling that I should go back up, but talked myself out of it and rationalized saying I would go up first thing in the morning. He passed around 11 pm. I am really trying to follow my instincts now and if I have a strong feeling like that again, I will follow through.
Lisa, my cats used to try different doors hoping for better weather too! Pretty hard to convince them that it was going to be the same....
Machka, love the snow and sand men! Your hubby is sure lucky to have you on his side, I can't even begin to imagine just what would be happening to him if he didn't have you as an advocate!
Karen in VA and all others in the path of the storm, I hope you all keep safe and warm.
Allie, Mary must be one unhappy woman to have to inflict that much conflict on the workplace. Not fun for anyone else either, to have to put up with her.
Staff Christmas party last night, managed to drag hubby there, he didn't even kick or scream too much. Honestly, sometimes it's just easier to leave him at home! We didn't stay late as I'm at work this morning, and worked all day yesterday also. Was supposed to be off at 4, but a couple came in at 3:57 and wanted to rent a storage unit. I was tempted to ask them to come back today, but then I asked myself "What would Donna (our manager) do?" Well, Donna would stay late and rent them the locker, so that's what I did. I still got home in plenty of time to get ready, I really don't need a lot of time, I don't do too much for makeup and was just wearing dress pants and a dressy top, so not a lot of fuss and bother there. And I will get paid for the extra time, so it's not like I'm out anything.
Hugs to those needing them, congrats to those celebrating and welcome to the newbies!

Happy National Weary Willie Day!
"This holiday was named for the character made famous by Emmett Kelly, who was born on this day in 1898. Weary Willie Day celebrates the art of clowning and the impact that it has had on our lives." Willie is before my time, but the history of Emmett Kelly and Willie says a lot about how we as a society use entertainment to get us through hard times.
Evelyn - Good on your for giving yourself a break. This time of year seems to come loaded with all kinds of expectations and temptations. Allowing yourself a little "time off" to enjoy the holidays sounds like an excellent idea, especially since you're going into it with clear goals starting January 1.
Cathy - Oh, I absolutely adored "The Art of Racing in the Rain." That home is a beauty, especially with its Christmas decorations. I want to stand in the little cupola up top!
Allie - I hope that having that perfect buyer come along helps ease some of the pain from selling your dad's home.
Barbie - We don't have children, and I'm highly conscious of the fact that someone will have to tidy up after us once we're gone. Hopefully we'll be able to benefit from a lighter "stuff" load now, and then my siblings and/or nieces and nephew will have an easier time of it when we leave this world!
Lisa - Every now and then I get a friend request from one of my clients. I'm sure some program or other has just found my email address in their contacts and recommended me, but I just ignore those requests. There is no reason for clients and me to have any connection via Facebook, and friend-request spam is so common I rarely accept a new friend request from anybody unless they've told me it was coming.
Tracey - The little A-frame is my favorite ornament! It reminds me of our home in the mountains of New Mexico. I was lonely there, but I really miss wintertime in the mountains.
Heather - I doubt any of us are really easy to live with! I adore my husband and he has many great qualities, but helping around the house is not one of them. There are a few chores he does semi-regularly (but now as often as I'd like) and everything else I have to ask him to do. We have a lot of clearing and cleaning to get ready for hosting his parents for Christmas dinner, and I'm already aggravated because I know most of the load will be on me unless I feel like being a nag. It's important to pick my battles, and I don't feel like nagging at Christmas so I think I'm going to do what I can do and leave the rest. Fortunately, neither Philip nor his parents have strict housekeeping standards!
Carol - I still remember talking with the minister after Mom's funeral. We knew Dad would have a hard time copiing, and he said, "With great love comes great loss." Theirs was a beautiful love story, but that was a reminder to store up every moment because sooner or later one partner will spend some time alone. There's been a song on the radio about exactly that, and it makes me tear up every time.
Pip - My gosh, that hotel is gorgeous!
Michele - No, I've taken a fair number of bellydance classes in the past, but it's been a long time. I was never very good at it, but it is great exercise and if this class gets off the ground it'll be a great way to meet some other women in this town.
Karen - We've also seen Trans-Siberian Orchestra once. It was kind of like going to Mardi Gras... I'm glad I did it but I feel like once was enough.
Karen - Ooh, it's grey and overcast and lentils sound great today! Think I'll plan on green lentils and onions for dinner. So simple and perfect for a winter evening.
We went to our dear friends' tamalada yesterday and had a lovely time. I have no idea how many tamales we rolled out, but it was great fun and there were certainly some creative fillings. I didn't get any of the strawberry and nutella tamales, so I'll have to be sure and ask how those came out! I'm OK with dessert tamales, but I'm not sure those flavors combined with masa are going to work. Anyhow, it was definitely a "vacation" day so today I've got my nose to the grindstone again!
I'm going to put on some warm clothes and go work on getting the ground ready to lay a pad for my new greenhouse. I needed that thing assembled a month ago but with one thing and another, it's still in the box and the plants are still in the bathroom. Philip is home sick today so we can't start building but I can at least clear the ground and maybe go pick up a truck load of pavers.
Stay warm, y'all!

Pip - I think you run at twice my speed. You go gurl!!!!
Managed to just sneak in at my calorie allowance today, thanks to our afternoon bonus calorie walk. Meant I burnt off 840.
Will try for a run tomorrow, depending on the weather.
I hope to tidy up the room at the top of the house, where my elder son will be sleeping. He works in a warehouse, so I don't want him to feel he's sleeping in one! My wardrobe shoe rack arrived today, so the big box of shoes and boots is emptied. Still have heavy things, like books, to shift, which may be DH's task, and I have to shift beds around. He is too large to sleep on one single, so I will put the two beds together. Hope he doesn't fall through the middle. I will put a fitted sheet across the two to anchor them!
We will also be making up the king size in the spare front room for my DSIL and her boyfriend who are arriving the day my son leaves. I have already decided we are going out to the real pizza place with them in the evening. Will book it tomorrow. I will make lunch for them and give them orange cake for tea. Must remind them to bring their free bus passes.
Katla - How lovely that you got to see your son. And you have other company. We are so busy at the moment it's a bit overwhelming, but we will be alone from Christmas Eve onwards. Not sure how I feel about that.
Much love, Heather UK xxxxxxx2
