12/14โ216.2โMy very hilly journey continues! I have another push-ups day today for my challenge. Last time was very rough. I actually faceplanted during one of them. But a couple of months ago I could do 4 push-ups in a row. Now I can do at least 16 and 4 is so easy it's nothing. Progress!

@Birder165, Thank you! I'm going on full attack to get out of this decade. My DEAR HUSBAND brought home a BARREL (literally) of pretzels. I feel calm being around them, don't want any. It was stress eating and I'm over it.
@puttyputty, Progressing to 16 push ups is wonderful! I used to love doing push ups, but when I developed wrist tendinitis that ended that.
I really love to read about all the exercise everyone does. I can't do a lot of the types of exercise that I used to do. Some because of injuries, some because I don't have a home gym anymore or a gym membership. I do what I can with limited equipment and my physical limitations. I won't EVER give up. ๐
@shunggie and @charlie9er, I like your ticker factory weight loss tickers. I used to use that site in the early 2000's. When I get to 80 lbs lost, I plan on reactivating my account and posting my ticker. ๐
@aFit50, Thank you!
@SheilaBoneham, I'm glad you're feeling better and I do hope that your inflammation levels are down.10 -

Stay under my calorie goal of 1,400.
Exercise Goals:
Walk at least an hour 3 days a week, 4 days if nothing better is available.
Weight training 1 day a week
12/14 - Traveling no scale. I drove the 4 hours to St. Louis with the boyfriend. Went out for a nice dinner; I think I did well calorie wise. A half salad and half a flat bread - no dessert but 1 vodka cranberry spritzer thingy. First alcohol I have had in over a year (nothing to do with weight I just don't enjoy it that much anymore) got back to the hotel room and crashed. It's amazing to me 30 years ago I could go thru a fifth of whisky in a night and still be partying, now I have one spritzer and I'm knocked out.

OK, the self-delusion is over and I'm not going to kid myself into eating more cookies & candies. I've had more the past week than I've had in the past 4 years! OTOH, I am back to regular walking (though not up to my goal time yet - amazing how quickly we get out of shape) and I started walk/run intervals yesterday. So I'm adding exercise minutes to my accountability for this session. I do think some of this extra weight is water, but I don't like the trend, so I've had a stern talk with myself! I'm off to get blood drawn to recheck inflammation levels - I hope they're down more, but in any case I feel quite a bit better other than pain in my shoulders, esp. in the morning.

This is going to be a difficult week

one small cake and biscuit, instead of several sweet offerings, including mince pies. Kept within calories.

I know right now it may seem like it sucks because you are just starting off but as long as your determined, patient and kind to yourself, you will be able to accomplish this!! I am so happy that you have decided to join the thread because reading everyone's day to days really helps keep you uplifted, motivated and prepared for any and all fluctuations and difficulties that come with this dreaded, weight loss journey. All you need to do is stick to it and try to post every day. I won't lie, if it wasn't for this group I probably wouldn't have been able to do it alone and would have probably gave up a long time ago. This group has make it easier to stay accountable and has helped me to challenge myself and push myself to do my personal best. Also there are a lot of people, myself included, that read everyone's day to days ..so if you run into frustration or are having a difficult time, don't be afraid to post...there are tons of amazing people who will respond to you and who give great advice.
YOU GOT THIS!!
what @brightresolve said was a great way to sum it all up
I like reading that other people have the same struggles. I've been doing this for 8 rounds now and up or down I post it. This 10 day thing helps keep me focused. It's an ugly journey but like so many in life it's made easier with company.13 -

Thanks aFit50
On my actual birthday and other days with friends and family I am planning to have two smaller meals to allow me slightly more food when I am with friends and family. I realise that if I don't eat the smaller meals I will be tempted to eat more when the evenings come around - something I've never thought of before.
Pre logging my meals has helped a lot. I left the largest meal till last yesterday because I knew I would be offered food out. A small biscuit and cake later, I was able to eat just part of the planned pre logged food to balance the day.

I am a 50 year old 5'5" woman. I am trying to get healthier to avoid diabetes and all of the problems that come from being overweight.
I have found this challenge to be both rewarding and frustrating! Looking at my weight daily has been a real eye opener to see all of the fluctuations and how a high carb day will affect me and the loss for 2-3 days after.
I need to step up my game if I want to meet any of my goals.

12/14 - Friday - 174.4 - Salty dinner last night. TOM approaching and I'm ravenous. Just went out and got a sausage egg and cheese mcmuffin against my better judgement - I was already planning on eating a frozen pizza for dinner so it puts me at maintenance. Maybe I'll have half the pizza and a salad instead of the whole thing tonight. But again, so starving today so we will see. I dont know if its the undereating catching up to me or TOM but either way - reminding myself that its ok to follow my hunger cues and its not always going to be perfect choices. Remember what over restricting brings? Yeah...binging, well this wasnt a binge just a genuine starving moment and I knew the tiny leftovers lunch I packed was not going to cut it. But I will drink lots of water today so I'm not totally sodium bloated for dress try ons tomorrow. Aiming to maintain last rounds loss since it was a big one and TOM usually spikes the weight.

Day/Weight/Comment
12/14 - 182.4- As expected, dropped a bunch of the water weight from the high sodium day at the end of Round 61. Had a really good day. Got 2 workouts in yesterday (lifting workout with deadlifts, lat pull downs, overhead press, bicep curls and pec flys, then backed that up with 3 miles on the treadmill), as well as hitting my macros and calories. Drank about 140 oz. of water. Squat day today.

This is my ninth round. I am thinking this is the perfect way to move through December, with mini-goals, support and comraderie. I would love to be at 155 by Christmas but will be happy just being solidly in the 150s! Let's make this a month of mindful celebrations taking time to appreciate our loved ones, our health, and our progress on this journey!

12/14 -- 160.5 -- Mildly frustrated with this. Ate super well yesterday with huge deficit. Ran 3/4 of my 4 mile "walk". Possibly fluid retention from lots of exercise yesterday, but hoping to see this number down tomorrow! Could also be fluid retention from late night scotch after a stressful day!
