Hey. New to the app, saw it on a list of ‘best calorie trackers’ while obsessively googling how to lose weight. I’ve PCOS and am trying to lose 40lbs in the hopes that I can get my cycle sorted and eventually have a baby. The road to functional ovaries is a long one and I’m just trying to stick with it this time because it’s bogged me down my entire adult life. If anyone has tips and support, or needs a little support for something similar, feel free to reach out. I’m a doula too so I’m always happy to be someone’s cheerleader. ❤️6

I am not really sure what to say here… I am a pretty open book. I started, well re-started, MyFitnessPal a month ago. My first experience with the app was actually YEARS ago. The app has improved so much! I have also grown and learned which I think is helping me. I live in Minnesota. Married, kids, FT employee, small hobby farm… that’s me. So… Hello!2

Hello! I have started today. Are there any other senior citizens on here? I am 65 and would love to hear how others have lost weight when they are over 60. I am doing low carb and counting calories. I need to up my iron and would love suggestions on what foods are high in iron. I know meat and I know spinach....what else? Thank you in advance!0

Shellfish, beans, chickpeas, lentils, dark chocolate (my go-to 😉), fish (be choosy due to mercury), nuts, and more.
I started at age fifty-nine with Sparkpeople in 2005 and lost 100 pounds, then slowly gained back over half of it by forgetting the most important part... maintenance. I had a restart in 2014 motivated by diabetes and I've been either losing or maintaining it ever since. I'll be seventy-five in June. Sparkpeople and MFP have made calorie counting so much easier and counting calories is the secret for me. I try, but not very successfully, to watch my carbs. At least the majority of my carbs are complex. Never quit!1 -
Looking for new friends to give support and receive support! Feel free to add me!1

Hello all, I have been on the app for almost six weeks and I decided to try this section of the app today. I have tried WW a few times but have never kept with it. Was diagnosed with high blood pressure six weeks ago and have had to make some life changes. Have lost 18lbs so far. This app has helped me a lot.1

As a personal trainer/group fitness instructor, I always recommend this app as a method of nutritional accountability. However, I haven`t practised what I preach and ignored doing so myself. I feel it is quite hypocritical to ask someone to do something that I wouldn`t do. Therefore, I have decided to begin a calorie-counting regime, which I believe will help me lose those pesky extra kilo or three. Best of luck to everyone out there!0

Hi,
I’m a serial re-starter but after baby no.2 I’m finally determined enough to get back to where I was most comfortable for good.
16/70 lbs down using the Fast 800.
Looking for any friends with similar goals. Please add me0 -
Not new but looking to get back on track. Early 30s. Wanting to get fit and healthy again after a year off. Gained a stone not too worried if don't lose all that weight as long as I can make it into muscle! 💪2

Hi
Back for a second shot at MFP. Wish me luck.
Feel free to add me, the more support the better. Also on Garmin if anyone is looking to expand their connections.2 -
Hello peoples! Let's do this.
I've done really well in the past with Weight Watchers - long time ago. The new plans don't seem to work for me. So here I am on MFP.
I just started yesterday. I've done some meal prep & set small goals. I want to focus more on my health than on actual weight loss. But of course weight loss is amazing as well.
Good luck to everyone out there doing this thing!2 -
Hello! I'm new to this site: Joined yesterday.
Back in January I was 142 pounds and overweight for the first time. Both my mom and my husband have been telling me I need to lose weight and get in shape again. I've slacked off. Today, I'm 133 pounds and want to get to 125 which is a nice weight on me, (any less and I start to look gaunt.)
I've been working out but not really giving it my all TBH. I need to step it up. So I'm posting my YouTube workouts on another thread hoping that helps keep me accountable.
Hope to meet some nice ppl! Wishing everyone lots of luck.1 -

Hi! I’m back after a long absence. I live in SW Pennsylvania and I’m 65 years old.
The pandemic kind of kicke my butt and I gave up all my health and fitness activities.
I just heard from my new doctor that I now have diabetes! Sh&t just got real!
I used to walk miles a day and I lost almost 40 pounds. However, now I have really bad pain problems - arthritis etc. Abe I can hardly walk now.
My dad passed in December and I’m depressed.
I’m determined to get healthy and get rid of the diabetes.
I welcome messages.
Ciao!

Exercise. It's good for depression, losing weight, stretching and rehabbing arthritic joints, etc, etc. Find small things like very short walks, chair exercises, and more that you both can and will do. The key is to get started and never quit. I know what you mean about diabetes scaring the heck out of you. In April of 2014 my a1c was over 13 and I was put on two meds just for that immediately. Eight years down the road and I'm at 5 or 5.1 on the a1c and the meds have been gone for four years. Don't hesitate... I nearly lost a retina to it. The arthritis is very mild these days along with great improvement of symptoms from a long list of other ailments. Consistency and persistence are the keys. Never give up! 👍2 -
Resolutions, intentions, they all sounded great...followed by excuses, that was my life for 15 years and a lot of weight gain. Now in my mid-fifties: Actions is what I needed.
A year ago, I started with small actions, I was so out of shape that small steps is all I could handle.
By all means, I am not where I want to be but after losing over 50 lbs., I feel so much better.
I stopped drinking alcohol, started watching what I eat, and I exercise for at least an hour every day.
And the best part is that exercising really helps me overcoming depression and anxiety.
Now to get back to a size 4…3 -
Hi! Been back on MFP for about 2 weeks. It’s worked well in the past but a month of restrictions following surgery killed my motivation and eventually all my success. I got to my highest weight ever. I’m down 8.8lbs of that and hopefully, now that my thyroid is back on track, I can keep going. Goal is about 170. That’s high for my height but I have a stocky build. We’ll see when I get there. If anyone wants to add me, go for it.0
