Machka- I am glad you are getting an MRI to get your hip checked out. Did you fall? Curious as to why she thinks you have fractured it. I would have bet any amount of money it was a nerve/muscle issue. Either way, rest up! Sending hugs!
ttfn xoxoxo KJ (Kelly)
She got me to do a whole bunch of things. One of the things I could not do was to hop with my right leg. I could with my left, but couldn't even get one hop out with my right ... no strength and lots of pain. I would have thrown up if she had insisted.
She ran me through a bunch of other tests and said that my muscle strength is not bad and my range of motion isn't bad, but when it comes to any kind of pressure that involves the hip area, I can't do it. I guess I'm showing all the signs of a hip fracture.
Also for two weeks now, I've barely been able to walk, and things like climbing stairs has been a massive, and painful challenge.
She thinks it is a stress fracture which may have started up in November, but the half-marathon moved it into something more serious.

I'm so sorry. When I had my hip issue, like you, I just pushed through it -- kept running, racing, etc. I finally went in and told the doc, "I want to see exactly how stupid I've been," and they immediately did an x-ray. Fortunately, I didn't have a fracture -- just the SI joint disfunction. Let's hope for a better outcome for you, as well.

Had to bring two dogs to the vet this morning. One for a recheck on thyroid levels, the other for a yearly, a shot, and she hadn’t been feeling well. Runs out Wicket has a loose tooth with an infection. She may need two teeth pulled to resolve the issue.
On another note, I had an echocardiogram yesterday and was given s clean bill of health for that. Doc said to keep doing what I’m doing and I could live to over 100!

Beth so glad you made it home okay, driving in those conditions is one of my biggest fears, I am a snow wuss. DH had to drive home in a "snow squall" today, not a blizzard but visibility was horrible, I was biting my nails waiting for him to get home.
Kelly I hope you picked a movie to watch 'cause you work so hard!!! You accomplished more during your snow day than I could hope to accomplish in 3 days off!
Did exercise today but am in an overeating spiral right now, tomorrow is another day.

I can't remember if I posted many pictures from our Cancun trip. If you want to see some of our adventures, the pictures are below. I fell even more in love with Mexico, am committing myself to learning Spanish, and am considering retiring near Playa del Carmen.
This is looking down into a cenote (sinkhole, in English) where we did some swimming. Even with all of the people, it was lovely.
Pyramid at Coba. One of the only one on the Yucatan, I believe, that you can actually climb.
Looking down from the top of the pyramid. The jungle is so peaceful.
Me at the top of the Coba pyramid.
Snorkeling off the coast of Cozumel. It is like swimming in an aquarium. And the water is so warm. And the jellyfish stings seriously hurt!

Funny that we are discussing legal estate decisions of late here. We are helping DH’s mom redo her will as well as our own. You just never know and at least you’ll have the basics set up.
Stay warm and safe everyone. NYKAREN

Been thinking of my friends and family in the terrible winter weather. It makes no sense to have people going out to work when a state of emergency has been declared.
kJ- I wouldn’t advise trying to freeze your booty off. You would probably freeze your hands and feet also. Glad you had a free day and I also hope you watched a movie.
Beth- so glad you were able to get home safely. It is no fun driving in those conditions.
Grace- take a deep breath and put one foot in front of the other. Moving is always a challenge, I know because as a military family we moved a lot.
Rebecca-great job n January. Keep on keeping on.
Heather- glad you are feeling better. I was going to tell you of a home remedy my “Kansas friend” told me for coughs but you may not need it now. Here it is. To prevent coughing at night, rub Vick’s vapor rub on your chest and also on the bottom of your feet. Put socks on your feet. I don’t know why but it works.
Been on too long.....

My husband came to work with me this morning ... to carry my rather heavy backpack, and then to go purchase a walking stick for me.
I am now "Nanny McPhee"!!
Well, not quite ... I have a small blue cane. I'm not using it when I walk around the office because if I walk really slowly, there is minimal pain. But I may use it on the way home.
Meanwhile, Hobart's air quality is horrible today with all the smoke. Everyone is coughing, sneezing, and talking like we're all pack-a-day smokers.

NYKaren: Congrats to you and DH
Machka: Crossing my fingers MRI is negative. Sending you healing energy. Rest, and more rest.
Beth: Glad you made it home safely. Hope DS is okay now.
Felicia: Love your pix. I miss Mexico, too. Hope you'll have a guestroom in PdC.
I might be buying a pre-owned car in next few days. I've been casually searching, then found 'the one'. Today my mechanic gave it an inspection and declared it 'awesome'. So, now just have to ask seller to shave a few $$$ off the price. It is already below Kelley Blue Book.
Today was my 3rd day of intentionally not working out. The hand feels fine, but instructions say not to lift, push or pull anything over 5 pounds, and to keep it clean and dry. Oh bother. At least I can get on the recumbent bike for a little bit of movement.

Did 30MF Plateau Buster DVD. The plan for tomorrow is to do Jari Love’s Revved to the Max DVD.
Rebecca – great loss
M – when it was recommended that Vince use crutches, he felt that he would probably hurt himself even more on them so he used a walker. Maybe that’s something you can use around the house? That’s the LAST thing you need right now (hurting yourself more)
Kelly – I know that in PA if a SOE is declared, only essential (ambulance, fire) vehicles are allowed to be on the road. That’s the only time Vince’s company closed.
Sometimes I, too, feel “invisible”. But then someone makes a comment about one of my posts and I know that I’m not totally invisible. One thing that sort-of bothers me is when someone just “likes” your diary. I don’t know if they truly looked at it or not. But I just assume that they do. I know that I like to look at other’s diaries to get ideas for different foods to have.
Beth – good thoughts for you and your drive. Update: so glad you are safe
Pip – do you have special clothing that you wear while riding when it’s so cold outside?
Grace – I get that way, too. Upset and then I want to eat, eat, eat. When I get that way, what I do sometimes (I know this sounds a bit gross) is have a bit of vinegar. After than, I don’t seem to want anything
Rita – great news about the echo!
Had Newcomer board meeting today. We stayed afterwards and talked to the gal who is the president. She seemed open to the idea of keeping the old directory assuming this guy can maintain it. I can’t see why not since he did it for months. Adra presented this “new” application. Really, the only difference between this one and the one we were using is the wording regarding the new pricing structure. Why did she go thru all that work? Because she’s a control freak.
Rori – I hope you get that car!
Looks like I’ll be going to SC Friday. This one gal from ceramics is driving and I’ll probably get some paint and want to see what this other lady has in stock in ceramic bisq. Well, I originally was going to go to the water aerobics class but I’m not crazy about the substitute teacher so I don’t mind missing. I’ll probably do some HIIT instead.

Hi Gals,
Janet in eastern MO – having the list of passwords, logins etc. on your computer is not the best idea, not only could your computer crash, but if your computer got hacked – you are completely without protection. A while ago there was discussion here on passwords and logins and the best idea (to me) was to get a old fashion paper address book and put the info in there it makes it easier to find – so the Bank info could be under “F” for Fremont Bank, and under “B” for bank to help.
NYKaren --- HAPPY HAPPY BIRTH-IVERSARY
Allie – I don’t know who Joyce Meyer is but am delighted you’ll do something you really want to do.
To those who feel invisible, we rarely realize what an impact we have on others, and commenting on every post is hard. I do think that each of us at different times find wisdom from a different poster, depending on what is going on in our lives. For example Michele you post about the crazies in the Newcomer group you belong to, and while I never respond- as I feel like I have nothing to add- it reminds me of some of the committees in my garden club and helps me remember to not get involved –I like and do better with a project slide in do it and gone! Not the day in day out stuff….just me.
Machka – (((((((hugs)))))))))))) I am hoping that this turns out to be a minor thing. The smoke must be horrid, we had it here last year with the fires in CA and everyone was miserable.

Hi all: DH has been a poop all day today and frayed just about all my nerves. Nothing was right for him today including road construction signs. He complained about everything including the dog, cats and my driving and then chalked it up to he is just "irritable". Well he just needs to get over it. I feel for him, I really do but not so much when he acts like this. Food is going well and I have been able to exercise more consistently. Tomorrow is my birthday and I am planning a small piece of Boston cream cake into my meal plan.
Lisa - I used the CPM with my first knee replacement not with the second. Studies have shown that they do not significantly improve outcomes.
Machka - Hope the hip is not broken.
Beth - So glad you made it safely home.
Tracey - Sending good thoughts for just the right job to show up.
KJ - Glad you got a snow day. Hope you watched that movie.
Rori - Hope things work out so you get the car.
Michelle - Safe travels to SC and have fun.
Allie - Enjoy the day with your DD.
Everyone take care, Sue in WA who is glad she no longer lives in SD where the wind chill is -56*2 -
Machka! I really hope you’ll think about using a walker around the hose and office. It can keep you from irritating the tissues within the joint more. Pain is to tell us something is wrong. A candor walking stick puts a great deal of strain on the arm involved, which can cause further damage. Have you had a bone density scan?
Beth, I drove straight trucks for 25 years in weather that got pretty scary, but the weight helped a lot now I’m very glad of AWD on my car and available manual shift to a special lower gear. Be very careful. If it isn’t on a main road I dread the chance of being stranded or going off the road. Never had those fears in my truck.
Please, all of you are important to me. I hope you take care no matter how good or bad the weather.

Kylia, Beth, Margaret and all in the bitter bitter cold, please take care, be safe and snuggle in!
KJ "Silly to risk your life driving because you might lose your job if you don't go in. Makes me angry." Amen sister. And not just your own life but the essential/emergency vehicles that HAVE to be on the road. There oughta be a law... Do washable markers work on frozen windows? Halelujah, your kids' parents made the smart calls. Hooray!
Beth, no need to be sorry, bringing up that memory is a part of healing... 68 year old me can understand and forgive what 11 year old me was too scared/angry to do. Thank you! Oh and everytime Buffalo showed on the weather I shivered for you... especially when the forecaster said that both the temp and the visibility were zero. VERY thankful you made it home safely.
pip snuggle up with that pooch for warmth!
Tracey "...but those same employers will send a nice arrangement to the funeral" Well said and ain't it a dirty shame?
Lisa "old YELLer" yick. Much prefer the cheerful sadists to the loud and obnoxious ones...
Grace you're so lucky to have a husband who could/would do 75% of kitchen addition. Understand his grief at having to leave it. Hope your new place has an appealing project for him if he wants one, and doesn't if he doesn't
Felicia your "Oh you don't count, you're one of us" made me smile in rememberance. As the only gal in IT for decades, I gradually became "one of the boys". Yuck. Learned way more about men then I ever wanted or needed to. Without women's civilizing influence, they really are beasts... Loved your adventurous pics, way cool!
Rita "echocardiogram...clean bill of health... live to be over 100" VERY well done!
Michele "...have a bit of vinegar. After that, I don’t seem to want anything..." laughing while my mouth puckers. I'll bet!
Sharon living in Idaho we learned to supplement AWD with studded tires. Saved me many times on the black ice.
"Please, all of you are important to me. I hope you take care no matter how good or bad the weather." Well said, ditto and AMEN!
Sue in WA Happy birthday to you! Hope grumpy husband lightens up for your bday at least.
Well, need another 333 steps to make goal so time to get up and dance. Whoever said they would love to dance but didn't dare as they had two left feet... try line dancing. The people are warm and friendly and don't mind when I turn to my "other left" and klonk into someone. You'd be surprised at how many of us are right/left dyslexic...

Thinking of you folks in the COLD. (((WARM HUGS)))
Weird the difference one night makes. Last night I went to bed thinking I had a temperature, drowning in my own coughing, feeling like death and my ribs HURTING. I was ready to call the doctor in the morning, or even to go to the ER. Sat up. Dozed. Woke up. Read. HURTING. Then I threw myself on the bed and drifted off to sleep. Slept! Woke up and felt a lot better. Went back to sleep. Woke up and felt much better. I actually felt hungry and had some energy.
So this morning I have actually got washed and dressed for the first time! I still haven't washed my hair, but I might do that today. I feel resurrected! Going to take it easy and not push myself, but I feel up to cooking again. DH says I look much better. I just hope the improvement continues now. I'd forgotten what it's like to feel normal.
Sorry if I've been a bit preoccupied recently. I couldn't think about much at all except the next painful cough. It does give you more sympathy with real invalids. Your life and focus closes down.
Unfortunately there isn't much chance of avoiding these bugs we catch from the grandchildren. They cough and snot all over you. Bea was on antibiotics. We had a horrible coughing bug from them last year and Norovirus. They, of course, throw it all off in days. We take weeks to get over it. Let's hope that’s it for this winter! Looking forward to spring.
DH did 15 mins on the elliptical this morning - his first in two weeks. He has the dentist this pm, so will get some shopping. I might even feel like going out to the shops tomorrow.
Much love to everyone, in the cold or the warm.

well I have been putting off getting blood work done, so am fasting this morning and will go start the car and get over there early to get in and out.. then over for an oil change and then get my hair cut and colored, thinking of growing it out will ask my girlfriend who is my hairdresser what she thinks4

Heather - Other people's cooties are the worst, and kids seem to be little walking cootie factories. Was told that even the slightest hint of any infection of any kind, and the surgery will be postponed, so I'm staying the heck away from everyone except my husband until Tuesday. And I may spray HIM with Lysol. And I'm exactly the same way--when a bug keeps me awake, it seems to last forever, but when I can sleep, I can heal up and throw off almost anything more quickly.
Rita - grand news on the echo, it's always nice when what we're doing shows up on the doctor's tests. Pleased for you!
Getting things positioned at work for being out for four days - successfully so far, but trying to get a bunch of things accomplished today/tomorrow and Monday. This is not unusual, and not nearly as stressful as it sounds. My boss told me quite gleefully yesterday that she has big plans for me, but wouldn't share what they were. Sounds positive, though, so just putting that to the side for now.
Back to it...
Love y'all!

Morning, another slow start to the work day, I'll take it!
Heather Iove the power of sleep, I always feel it's the best cure all, glad that you've taken a turn for the better, now heal up those aching ribs from all that coughing!
Rori sounds like the used car is a real deal, good luck with the negotiations.
Working with little ones does build up one's immunity (and I get the flu shot) my younger colleagues are all suffering from various bugs right now. Luckily my years in service has made a difference. Purell and lysol are also best friends in my classroom.

Good morning! Woke up to -6F actual temperature! Finally got shepherd out for 5 minutes. Sara, the pyrenees, wont come in for about 30 minutes. She is crazy! Schools are closed again. 2-4" of snow on tap for tonight, so kids will most likely be out of school again tomorrow. We had 3 customers all day yesterday! I at least got to catch up on some paperwork.
Happy birthday to Sue in WA! I hope your husband is in a better mood today!
Beth! So glad you got home safely. I am a snow wuss also!
Heather UK- I am glad you are feeling better.
Barbara- I love to dance, but there is a big disconnect between what I think I look like and what I really look like! I have fun though.
Machka- please continue to take care. I love that your husband was taking care of you. I bet that made him feel good too!
Michele- Have fun and be safe.
Rori- continued healing!
Aubrey update.....she is out of NICU and in general peds ward! Her grandparents finally got to hold her! She is 37 days old and doing great!
Better get ready for work. Have a safe and blessed day!

Heather ~ Glad you are feeling better. I agree with NY Karen that being in the teaching field among children does help you build up immunity.
Rori ~ Congrats on a new to you car. Mine is 11 yrs old and I would love a replacement but not the car payments.
Michele ~ You are not invisible! I glance at your diary sometimes and have always wondered how you can eat 1/4 cup of popcorn and 1/2 a chocolate bran muffin.
Kylia ~ Such good news about Aubrey.
Sue & NY Karen ~ Happy birthday to both of you.
Allie ~ I think you would look good with longer hair.
Hope this is not TMI: My giant Pom had an upset stomach yesterday and gifted us with piles of poop under the antique dining room table. Getting on my knees to clean it up was painful! But, it got done. Now I have to sanitize the floor.
Have a great day everyone!
