I agree..even if they do open up more things, we will still be staying home. That is the recommendation for the vulnerable(older people, lol). We have gone for a ride a few times & stopped at daughters to talk for a bit at a safe distance, of course. & Hubby has gotten our online grocery pickup a few times. Drive there, open the back of the van, they put it in & he drives off. I guess I am about the same with housework, lol.2

you're right barbiecat, about it not mattering too much what's on a schedule, just having one. I would like to schedule some exercise time & cleaning/organizing time though. We don't do much housework either. It's just us two & dogs but this is a good time to do those things that only get done once in a great while I'm with you @RetiredAndLovingIt , I don't plan to change too many things once our city eases the stay at home, just dog park which I really miss and volunteering2

Good morning everyone. I’m a stay at home person too but being made to stay home kinda gets to me. Hubby usually runs to the store for this and that but now he doesn’t go in because he has asthma really bad so I have to go in and do the shopping I wear a mask and gloves we get up early on Tuesday Walmart has shopping for seniors at 6am that’s fun! But anyway that’s how it is right now. When I get overwhelmed with things that need to be done I make a list and check it off as I do them that helps me stay on track. Evamutt as we get older it gets harder to get things done just do what you can and don’t worry about the rest it will wait for you. And it’s ok to take a nap in the afternoon a nap helps nothing to feel guilty about. I like naps. Even if you don’t go to sleep you are resting your body sometimes that’s all you need. The Lord will get us through this praying for you Evamutt. It’s going to be sunny here in Oregon so I’m going to be outside today playing in my yard!!!! Woo hoo!! Everyone have a great day God be with you!! 🤓💖🌹🦋🌷2

My husband's cardiologist told him that he needs a lot of sleep and suggested that he take a nap in the afternoon. So for the last few years he has taken a nap at about 1:30 every day and sleeps from 1-3 hours. He considers it as medically necessary as the prescription drugs he takes.
I try to complete one significant task each day. It needn't be big, just something that makes me feel useful. Significant tasks include such things as 20 minutes of pulling weeds, folding laundry and putting it away, mopping the floor in the room where I dance. When I go to the store next week, that will be my significant task. It will require writing a very well planned shopping list organized by sections of the store, remembering mask and gloves, taking my time in the store in order to stay away from people, being kind to the cashier whose being at work allows me to shop, and stripping off clothes and taking a shower and washing my hair when I get home.

All of you are such a blessing to me. I do feel better today emotionally from reading your posts about it's okay not having an "important" (what I think it should be) schedule. I also just gave it all up to The Lord. I started logging again today, shame on me, I haven't been doing that, but not really over eating either just been maintaining my weight. Today I joined a senior health/exercise group on FB that does exercises from a certain person on you tube who designs it specifically for seniors. I always did the Fitness Blender videos but I wanted a new start. One of the volunteers at the animal rescue had some doggie supplements to give away so she's leaving some at the rescue tomorrow to be picked up. I'm going to ask our director is I can stay a while to volunteer when I go there6

Good morning, all. In another thread, someone mentioned that life was starting to seem like "Groundhog Day". Rang true for me. Now off to work. Have an awesome week!2

Good morning 60 & uppers Sorry I've been MIA basically for the past few weeks With the days all blending into oneness it is hard to find something to talk about or to have the desire to share what is happening. Nobody needs to feel my blahs We are still well here and for the most part happy We do miss our church family and friends a lot We went for a nice ride last evening and it was a beautiful sunny day. I have lost the few pounds I gained and am actually down a couple more than I was
Evamutt I am so happy to hear your dog is doing better Hey, don't beat yourself up Just do what you've done, got back to it (logging)
barbiecat I love your attitude (((hug))) it is so inspiring I try to do things similarly as a daily rule. As far as lists go... I make one if I have many things piling up (if I've been ill) but don't beat myself up if I don't get it all done in one day. I just keep the list going until I check everything off
lindagalbreath577 You are such a sweetie (((hug))) I'm with you pretty much my hubby is usually the one who runs out if we just need a couple things and we go early when it's time to buy more. Lists are a good one day at a time. Like I said in my message, "I wish we lived close and you could help me with my yard"
RetiredAndLovingIt It sounds as though you and your hubby have quite a good routine worked out
schneezle Welcome ((hug)))
alteredsteve175 Hello
AnnPT77 Hey good to see you How are things down your way? Up here everyone has their boats out ready to get them in the water. Have you started your rowing yet?
annliz23 Thanks for the lovely inspirational post (((hug)))
njag6393 Hello
bethe Hi there
I need to get busy around here and check my list LOL
Have a blessed day everyone
Shout out to my friends2 -
Hi to all. It's so nice to read the good things that have been going on with y'all. I'm ok, not much movement on the weight but honestly I'm not especially motivated lately. Eating healthy and at least walking for 30 minutes daily. Being alone and staying in has me lazy and quite Netflix dependent. Last night someone took my Amazon delivery from outside my front door, oh my what's this world coming to. My friend that was infected is on the road to recovery now and that's a blessing. It's going to get better and I'll just wait patiently and safely. Hopefully the sun will shine later today. April showers bring May flowers right.
Friend hugs!
Courting my blessings. Om....

Good Morning
I hope you are still open to new members? My name is Carol (67). I live in Chilliwack in the Fraser Valley of beautiful British Columbia, CANADA.
I have been dealing with too much weight most of my life. About the only time I was really able to control it was during my two pregnancies. I only gained 27 pounds each time and had 9 pound babies.
Was doing REALLY well until COVID isolation hit a couple of months ago. Then the weight just kept creeping up. So instead of being 15 pounds to goal, it became 25. Watched a Dr. Phil episode last week that was very helpful getting me back on track. As he said, "you need to be ready to head out running when this door finally opens for us". Great advice. I am going to make that my mission. To be ready to hit the road running when the door opens and IT WILL OPEN.
Stay safe everyone, and positive.

Downside of being an avid reader during this time is not keeping a schedule. I work until 9 pm , read until until wee hours of the morning. Once the gyms reopen my classes start at 6 am which means my alarm would be set for 5:15 am. I need to set boundaries.
Hi Carol.4 -
j29t, awful about your package being stolen, can you get a replacement? so glad your friend is getting better, that's great news!!Yesterday I tried those exercises I mentioned from the senior health group but it was too tame for me, I need it to be more vigorous so I'm going back to Fitness Blender. Went on an hour walk today, yay, since my GSD, Eleanor didn't lag behind. I'm so hoping/praying it's allergies & not something else. We have vet appt wednesday for a second opinion. Wecome new member Carol. I'm so bad at remembering everyone's name on here, lynnchristy, I don't know how you do it lol. We got our stimulus check today . I'm going to order a new bed. When our daughter moved I got my grand daughter's twin bed & I feel so bad that the dogs who used to sleep with me can't now so I can hardly wait. I really needed a new bed. Husband has back problems so he has to sleep in a separate bed. I did okay yesterday food wise, went over a little with some popcorn but not bad1
-
@Evamutt I contacted Amazon thru chat right away and they have replacements on the way already. I'm always happy with their customer service and hope my packages were just delivered to the wrong apartment number and not stolen. Perhaps someone in the building is wondering why they got sunscreen and protein bars.2
-
@j29t I'm glad to hear that. I don't have much to say. We took Eleanor dog to the ponding basin today to run, I'm going to the store, I need to color my hair & make our green juice today, otherwise it's a quiet day. oh, yesterday I went to visit our youngest son & family. We visited in back yard & I wore my mask. Our middle son is sure he has the virus minus the fever. He's been home sick for a week. Him & his wife work in the hospital I used to work at. He hasn't had to go to the hospital so far2

Good Morning everyone! So happy, first hummingbird sighting of the season yesterday afternoon and he's back again this morning. I usually set the feeders out 4/15 but it was just too chilly, so didn't get them set out until last Sunday. Maybe Spring is finally here.5

I went to Costco yesterday primarily to get canned dog food (Costco limited it to one case per customer) and ran into my Sunday walking friend who agreed to buy a case for me. So now I don't have to go back there again for 24 days instead of 12. Today I go to the grocery store for the first time in 25 days. We ran out of eggs and tortillas and are getting low on many other staples.

So today wrote letters to my 4 year old grandchildren , I am planning g to do it weekly with activities for them to do this weeks activity is to make bunting for VE day celebrations and colour a map in to learn about capital cities both recieved them and loved it so now planning next weeks letters.
Also drying parsley, sage and chives. No walks as it's raining here in the UK but playing games with the dogs ie hide and seek.
Have a great day everyone4 -
I am home from an exhausting trip to the grocery store. I was well organized and found almost everything on my list. I had to call my husband twice to ask about brand substitution for some items he wanted. There were two items I had hoped to get at the grocery store and couldn't so I stopped at Walgreen's after and found one of them. Now we are set for another 25 days or more. Part of what makes it exhausting is wearing a mask which makes breathing difficult. I have great admiration for people who wear masks all day at work.
annliz your plan for your grandchildren sounds great.

Good morning everyone!!! We have sunshine today woohoo!!! I got the hostas planted in my neighbors yard yesterday. Her husband had put all these really cool rocks in they had gotten buried over time so dug those up planted the hostas then reset the rocks. Turned out good. Also planted lupine in there. Today I’m going to play in my neighbors yard on the other side of me. Planting flower seeds in the planter and digging up dandelions. We have a doves nest in our curly willow!! It’s cool to watch them. I hope yous don’t mind about me talking about my gardening. I just love it so much God has given me the strength and energy to do it . It’s my peaceful place with Jesus. Annaliz23 that is so cool what you are doing with your grandchildren. Great idea!! Barbican I’m with you it is exhausting to go to the store! It is difficult to breath through the mask I have to keep telling myself it’s ok you can do this I pep talk myself all the time!! Everyone have a great day God be with yous!!🤓🌹🦋🌷💖6

Hey there! Hope you all are well. Idaho started the first phase of reopening today. Retail stores, churches, day care centers and youth activities can resume. Crossing my fingers that everything goes well. I will continue to wear a mask when needed and maintain my distance, but otherwise I'm resuming normal activities.2

Good morning everyone,
I am 65 and once again on the roller coaster of yoyo dieting, this time I am doing it with the help of a dietician, my doctor and a psychologist they are going to try and work out why I lose lots of weight and then put it back on. Due to the Corona Virus appointment still a month away, just wondering if any of you had used this type of assistance before
Thanks in advance
Colleen1 -
If you round up, I think I'd qualify for 60 and up. I will be 58 this year. Copied from my home page: Restarting with mini goals: 1 - Water Challenge; 2 - Reset Weight for today; 3 - Joined a new Bible Study FP4H group online; 4 - Starting to exercise again (oh I'm outa shape); and 5 - Showing grace and patience to others and myself!4

Welcome. I haven't used professional help but it has been useful for people I know. I made health and fitness my top priority ahead of family, socializing, wondering what other people think, etc. I walk for recreation and entertainment. I don't use food for recreation. I seek every opportunity to be active. I read about nutrition and am active on more than one thread on MFP with other like minded people who are supportive and encouraging. If you round up, I think I'd qualify for 60 and up. Welcome. Starting with some small achievable goals is a great idea. Water, spiritual support, being active, and being kind will help to get you where you want to go.

Hi all, no exercise routines for me yet as hip and back only fit okish so not going to push in but still getting my walks in daily so my focus is gardening,, yoga stretches for my back, keep a close eye on my food intake.
Good luck with your goals.3 -
Hello, all, and welcome to new participants!
I haven't posted much, because not that much happens in shelter-at-home for solo me. I'm still overall in weight maintenance mode, but with the goal of ultra-slowly losing a few pounds (at half a pound a week or preferably less). With no restaurant indulgences, that's been easier and going a little bit faster than before isolation. Down below 130 this morning, for the 2nd time in two weeks . . . and those were the first times that's happened since Feburary 2018!
Definitely not getting enough exercise, though, and need to work more on that . . . which should be a little easier as we're getting some warmer weather. I haven't been able to row, because my rowing shells live in a club boathouse, and that's been closed under our state's shutdown orders (because it's a facility in a public park). Just a couple of days ago, it was opened for one person at a time to be inside.
Because that means rowing my own racing single (12" wide at the waterline!), that being the only boat I can carry by myself (26' long, so quite awkward, but only about 31 pounds). I'm going to wait until the water warms a bit more before going out: I don't need to experiment with swimming alone in a cold river, and with racing singles we always say "it's not 'if you flip', it's 'when you flip'" . I don't have a dry suit, and I outgrew my kayaking wetsuit (well "ingrew" would be more accurate, I suppose - it's huge to the point of being nonfunctional).
So: Rowing machine, weights, etc. at home, if/when I work up the ambition. I'm being pretty good lately about doing a bit of daily yoga and stretching, and that's about it for formal exercise. Plenty of yard work and stuff needed here, though.
Some of you have said you like my flower photos before, so here's a new one from my garden. They call these "pink" daffodils, but in real life they're more of a peachy-apricot kind of color.
Best wishes for health and a lovely Spring to you all! :drinker:

This morning, I had to put my sweet Shirley dog to sleep. We've had her since she was 5weeks old till now at 15.5 years old. She was my best friend. We were so close & have been through a lot together. She was doing ok with her arthritis. I had her on suppliments including turmeric. I took her last month to get laser treatments for her arthritis, which helped a lot but this past Friday she just stopped eating & panting alot. I couldn't even give her the pain pill. We're going to miss her so much!!!7
