Going under for an operation and not waking back up.

    This freaks me out too.

Maybe this is nuts, but I feel like that would be one of my preferred ways to die. You get a tiny bit of preparation but not like a horrible painful slow death. I dunno. I don't want to die, of course, but I feel like that would be a decent way.

You mean dying in your sleep?

No, dying while under anesthesia for surgery.

This is why I live in Florida. But until my early 30s I lived in the northeast. There were some truly terrifying ice stalactites on my college campus. I once was supposed to meet a friend at her sorority house and there was an ice mass the size of a refrigerator dangling from the eaves over the front door.

I actually thought the same thing. It would not actually be that bad. It would be in an irrational fear because you would not know or feel anything. The final (dreamless) sleep. Actually being afraid of dying in general is not that rational. The part that comes before and is but if you’re unaware then there’s nothing to be afraid of.

I don't have any phobias - that I know of!

I love birds. I would be scared of a large crocodile if I was in the water with it.

Or a large white, tiger, or bull shark. Other sharks are ok though.

    An angry mama bear.

A masked man trying to break in.
A phobia is an irrational fear, so being in water with a croc is not irrational because there's a very real danger you could get killed!
