So if someone is against consuming products made by Coca Cola on ethical grounds, that is fair enough.
Absolutely! And with good reason. What I was trying to say is making it look like Coca-Cola's the only big, bad company following questionable business practices feels like cherry-picking. That's all.2 -

Why do you think I need to keep drinking it?
Obviously no one but you can answer that question, but FOR ME it's a zero calorie beverage that relieves the boredom of water and allows me to spend my calories on food, which is far more satisfying.
That's nice. I said I need to stop drinking it, I didn't say anything about you or anyone else regarding diet soda consumption. Odd that saying I need to stop putting something in my own body elicits responses from others expecting me to justify a decision that has no effect on them whatsoever, and defending their own choices, even though I didn't say anything about their choices.
I dont think there's any reason to get defensive.
You said you need to quit.
I simply asked why (which is the exact question posed by the OP).
It seems if you feel there's a legitimate necessity to quit, the reason why would be relevant to the discussion and potentially helpful to readers.
No one called on you to justify your decisions.13 -

It's amazing how much you managed to say with all those cookies in your mouth!
He's got diet soda to wash them down with!
No. Only milk with cookies.
People who willingly drink pop with cake or cookies are monsters.
What about pop with ice cream, because I might have done that today...3 -

As long as it was dark pop with vanilla ice cream, you're ok.3 -
As long as the ice cream is in the pop you are good lol1

No. If something is wrong with soda, I'd rather skip it altogether than drinking a modified version.6

That's sort of like saying that you can't have milk. Because if there's something wrong with it so that we need to make low-fat versions you'd rather stay away all together rather than having the modified version, or any other.
Who said there's anything wrong with the soda? That's not what this is about. It's about having something which is usually jam packed with sugar (and calories) and being able to bring it down a notch so that more people, such as for example diabetics, can have it too.3 -

Yes that doesn't really make sense.
Lots of products have modified versions to suit different tastes or requirements - do you avoid cheese, milk, yogurt, jam, anything that has a low fat or low sugar or any variation version.
I mean, you get flavoured water - should I avoid water because there is something wrong with it that we have to modify it ???1 -
I read all 15 pages before weighing in, but I don't know that I can add anything helpful.
I drank regular pop for my entire life, until a few years ago when I switched to diet. I now drink 3 or more cans of diet pop a day, and have lost (and kept off) 135 lbs.
The Dr says she wishes all of her patients were doing as well as I am, so I see no need to give up on diet pop, other than the cost.10 -
I don’t. Just personal preference. I drink a lot of sparkling mineral water and occasionally will have regular cola (usually mixed with rum).1

I do drink diet soda. My favorite is Diet Dr. Pepper, and occasionally I'll drink Coke Zero. It's funny, since I used to prefer regular over diet. Now I'm one of those people who thinks regular sodas taste weird; the only time I'll drink the regular stuff is when my husband and I are sharing a large drink at the movie theater (husband HATES diet soda).2

No because I seriously do not like the stuff0

You shouldn't because of the phosphoric acid in it. But admittedly I do let myself drink one from time to time (I prefer diet Dr. Pepper). Water is so crucial to our health and body's regulation processes that I try my best to fill my cell's needs as often as possible.
... Though the day I look up Crystal Light and its ingredients (and other water flavoring powders) will probably be the day I die. I need some flavor to get my water down hahahaha.15 -
One or twice a week, yes.
Mostly diet or 'light' fruit juices.1 -

Oh dear, it seems like I sparked a side discussion.
And YES I admit to using low fat milk, but NO I still don't think I will be shifting to diet soda any time soon.3 -

Sure. It is the 2% rust/dead skin remover dumped into the gut that raises a question for some of us.

Why the need to avoid the small amount of phosphoric acid in sodas ( it is in all sodas, not just diet versions, as well as in other foods ) ??

Cherry Coke zero for life. I Drink several cans a day and have for a few years now. Lost and kept off over 200lbs. Switching from regular pop to come zero has contributed alot to cutting calories and losing weight.7
