5’4 ½” 67 y/o Texas Lady
SW 178 lb.
Goal: Maintain between 135 and 140 lb. and increase muscle mass
I started Round 54 and Keto WOE on September 24, 2018.
Cumulative weight loss for Rounds 54-70 = 43.6 lb.
NSV: 1) I’ve stayed between 133 and 137 lb. by (pretty closely) following a keto WOE.
2) Lab work a couple of weeks ago was normal with only one exception, slightly high LDL (bad cholesterol). HDL and triglyceride levels were very good! (In 2012, before I gained weight and started keto, I was slim, running, lifting, and the doctor attributed my LDL level to genetics.)
I can’t believe I missed 5 rounds, but I’ve continued to weigh daily, when I’m home. I’m glad I came back at the beginning of a round—great timing! Tax season was followed by a 7-day cruise to celebrate my husband’s birthday and the end of tax season. I ate and drank extra non-keto stuff and gained 3 lb. by the time I returned home, but it’s gone now.

05/03 133.6 I feel good, and, so far, I’ve found it easy to maintain my weight, thanks to limiting deviations from the keto WOE. I’m confident enough to not bother counting calories and carbs (I learned what and how much to eat from my record keeping in the beginning.). Keto has truly become a way of life for me. I’m not confident enough to stop weighing each morning. If weight is up, I cut back, and, if weight is down, I eat a little more. It’s a rainy day, so no walk for Thor and me today.

05/07 134.8 I had some catching up to do here, but I still weighed every day. I took a friend to see the movie Breakthrough yesterday, and I ate a lot of popcorn. The movie was great. Chrissy Metz is a great actress, but I feel bad for her. I suppose her size helped her get the part. I ate a couple of keto taco cups when I got home, and I was still stuffed at dinner time. I managed to eat half of my stuffed salmon, but I put the rest in my spinach and cheese omelet this morning. That was good.
05/08 134.2 My Red Hat group had Italian food for lunch today. The restaurant didn’t have fresh salad greens, so I had soup and cannelloni (tasty, but not on my keto list). I’m not stressing out since I’m below the 140 lb. limit I’ve given myself. It’s nice to have a little leeway.
05/09 133.8 A little low, but better than too high. I was supposed to play cards with friends today, but vertigo comes and goes, and this morning it was bad, so I stayed home. I’m better now and finished a good Bible study. I don’t allow myself to post here until I complete my Bible study—gotta have priorities and keep God at the top of the list! Now, I need to see about doing some housework, which I forgot to put on the list. I’ll play some Bob Marley for inspiration.
05/10 132.4 If I was still trying to lose, my weight wouldn’t drop without extra effort. Bob Marley (okay, his music) helped me get some housework done yesterday, but there’s always more to do. The rains have been a blessing, but I look forward to a break so Thor and I can get back to our walks. Since the weather is warming up, we'll have to get up early to walk. I'm not good at early morning wake-ups, so that will require self-discipline.

05/03--207.6 Lowest weight in about 3 years. Went to trainer yesterday...my trainer complimented me on my strong back, I felt really good. Hubby and I practiced our dancing last night.
05/04--207.6 Going for a run today, The weather is supposed to be great here today so later hubby and I will be taking the dog for a long walk and then going out for dinner.
05/05--207.4 Perfect weather in the PNW yesterday for a run...ran for 4.5 miles. I went out for dinner yesterday and ate something that I have a food sensitivity to so I expect a bump up in the scale over the next couple of days, but I made a conscious decision to eat the food so I'm okay with that. Went to the gym this morning. My husband was impressed that he could see the definition in my shoulder muscles as I was tying my shoes...it's funny how a compliment about something like shoulder muscles could make my day.
05/06--208.5 There's the jump I was expecting. I woke up with a tummy ache and felt heavy, so I knew the weight gain was because of me eating food I was sensitive to, but back to my non-sensitive food eating today. Doctor's appointment today and run later today.
05/07--208.3 Ran 2 miles yesterday, was going to run longer but it was a little too humid. Trainer tonight.
05/08--208.7 Sore from trainer yesterday and was so hungry when I got home. Snacked and didn't drink a lot of water today. Will make sure to get water in today. Run today and then yoga.
05/09-208.5 Was pretty warm when I went out to run yesterday so I cut the run a little short. Yoga was great. Trainer tonight.
05/10--208.7 Had a great workout yesterday. My trainer, who is usually on the subdued side, was giving me fist bumps.

5/10 172.3 Woohoo for Round low! Unexpected trip to Colorado this weekend. One of my best friends is in the hospital and not doing well. I have to go see him. No scale and three days of eating out Since it’s such a long drive (8.5 hours) I’ve scouted a few places to walk. Good juju for my friend, he has multiple blood clots in his lungs and heart and is in ICU. I’m not going to use this as an excuse to self harm which is what eating badly really is for me.
@shunggie You are always so present for those you love. I am glad to hear that you are showing up for yourself too. I am saying prayers for your dear friend. I hope he will respond well to treatment and will have a swift recovery.

05/03 - 313.3 lbs - I felt good yesterday, and feel like I'm finally in a place to stick to it again. Glad I found this challenge!
05/04 - 312.2 - still feeling good. Working on writing when I want to eat so I can try to evaluate if I'm actually hungry or if it's a bored/emotional/binge thing. So far that's helping, I think...
05/05 - 310.4 - had a crazy busy weekend and was really proud of myself for not just allowing that to excuse poor eating choices. Made healthy food choices all weekend!
05/06 - 310.0 - I had gotten a little used to the water weight falling off, so what's stupid is that losing almost half a lb was disappointing. However, I am managing to keep carbs low without even really trying too hard. I'm trying to get used to only eating when I'm hungry, so far so good.
05/07 - 309.2 lbs - feeling pretty good. Kind of stressed because I'm getting ready for a rummage sale. But my brother brought over Pizza (my worst binge trigger) but I limited myself to just eating the toppings off of one slice. It put me close to going over my carb goal, but eating the whole slice would have been way worse. So I'm happy! 😊😊😊 Hooray for half way through the 10 days!
05/08 - 309 lbs - I slipped up and ate more than I wanted to last night. But still kept my carbs low. I'm not disappointed. I always hate the initial water weight loss when I first start because I get used to it, so I have to keep reminding myself this was all just water weight. And from now on, it's not going to be such drastic weight loss every day. It SHOULD be less than a lb fluctuation everyday (in either direction). So now I have to focus on sticking with it even when I don't show a big loss everyday. I'm doing the keto diet, and I feel like keto flu is creeping up on me. I have a headache that I cannot get rid of.
Also, for anyone else doing keto, (because it's been a long time since I started keto), but once you're first in Ketosis, do you notice you have a strong craving for meats and cheeses? Ever since last night, I feel like I can't get enough meat/cheese, which is weird. It's why I ate more than I wanted last night, and it's really difficult today to not just tear into the string cheese in my fridge haha!

05/10 - 306.8 lbs - I didn't weigh until after I'd had some water, so super pleased about it. I overslept today, and didn't have time to weigh before I had to take my daughter to school haha! The weight loss must be a "woosh". I think I'm getting the keto flu, feeling crappy today. But loving the lack of appetite haha!

Hi everyone! I love this challenge most of the time, but the ones that we have to end on a Sunday or Monday kill me, lol. Oh well, would love to see 146 something this round and to stay out of the 150's again. Ended high last round because of my anniversary dinner, but also saw new lows through out the challenge, so hopefully we can continue the downward trend.

05/03 - 147.3 back down to Wednesdays weight before my bloody Mary sodium gain, lol. I am ending this week with a 3/10 of a pound loss. Not exactly what I was wanting, but it is a loss so I will take it. My 5 day average was down almost a whole pound, 8/10 of a pound to be exact, but still good. The weekend is here and all I want to do is stay under 150! Happy Friday everyone!
05/04 - 148.2 had a couple beers with dinner last night and ate super late, but ate super low calorie. Should be back down tomorrow. Water water and more water and no alcohol!
05/05 - 148.8 what can I say it’s the weekend. Had pizza for lunch(only 1 piece) and tacos and rice for dinner. Not even close to enough water and not one vegetable or fruit all day. Running errands and will be restocking the house for the week today.
05/06 - 151.0 Weekends are always a killer for me. 3.7 pounds up from Friday. I did have steak last night, which I try and stay away from because it seems like it stays in my system for a while and takes longer to digest. I should be down by Tuesday or Wednesday.
05/07 - 149.1 And there goes most of that steak weight. It does it to me every time, but I love it! Oh well, headed back in the right direction. Half way through this round and still looking for a new low. My 2nd oldest graduates next week and my plan was to be below 145, I don't see that happening, so hopefully I can get within a pound or so of that.
05/08 - 147.9 And there goes the rest of my steak dinner. Good day with water and food yesterday and on track for today. My 10 day average is up right now and so is my trend weight. Need the next couple of days to be really good to get that back down. That 151 through everything off so working hard to see a 146.xxx and to get my trend weight down a couple of ounces. 4 days left to do that!
05/09 - 146.7 I have finally reached a new low, lol and just with that 1 number my trend weight is going back in the right direction. I have done really well all week and was hoping for a decent size drop this time around. Had a really busy morning so didn't eat lunch till about 3 this afternoon and I am only at about 350 calories for today. I am going to try and get 1 of my snacks in now and eat a decent dinner tonight and hopefully balance out. If I can hold this number or see another small drop by Sunday I would be thrilled!
05/10 - 146.5 I'll take it. Had a drink (but only 1) before dinner with my hubby to celebrate my son's last day of high school! We now have 2 that have graduated and are officially adults (graduation on Thursday), 3 more to go, lol. Had a good dinner and finished the night within calories. We have our daughters choir banquet tonight, so hopefully there is something I can eat that is somewhat within my calorie allowance. Making today another low calories day to bank some for tonight just in case.

05/04 - 140.2 (+.3) no idea what’s going on. I’m not eating over my calories. I’m exercising a ton. Drinking a ton of water. Should be going the other way but it is what it is. I’m guessing it’s bloat and water retention since there’s not much else I can attribute it to. Going to keep at it and hope for the best in the coming days.

05/08 - 139.1 (-1.8) finally lost some of the water retention. Still about a pound up from where I was before though. I’ve been working pretty hard the last week and would have expected better results but I’m glad I’m finally down again. Only 4 days left to make goal so I can’t see it happening unless there is more water weight to lose. On a positive note I am looking smaller, clothes fitting better, and muscles are popping. 💪🏻
05/09 - 138.9 (-.2) slower and more steady, maybe I’m back on track.

@deepwoodslady Donna, I think I didn’t address your question the other day. I would think your steps would be accurate the way you are doing them - switching the fitbit around. I don’t pay ANY attention to “calories burned” and barely any to calories in. I watch my macros.4 -

5/3 126.0 Flying to Oklahoma this evening. DH cut the area between 2 toes last night. We went to the ER around midnight and got home about 4AM. I got up at 6:45 to deliver my pot garden to the neighbor for care while we’re gone. Laid back down but didn’t sleep as DH started a load of wash. Got up delivered cat to sitter at 9:15. Bags are not packed - his job. Dragging his feet and I’m having an anxiety attack.
5/4 123.5 False low, I’m sure. Instead of weight around 5AM, very late weigh in - woke up after 10am. Arrived last night, needed some food. Waffle House bacon cheese burger, no bun, no fries with lettuce tomato and some pickles. I was exhausted and don’t even remember getting in bed!
5/5 120.0 I didn’t drink enough water or coffee yesterday so probably be dehydrated. DH’s foot was hot and red so trip to Urgent Care first thing (noon?)yesterday followed by lunch out (fast food) then DD#1 and I were out and about until about 8PM so she could find dresses for the graduations. Helping her get back to Keto while we’re here.
5/6 125.0 Okay, I thought those were a couple of false lows. DD had changed location of scale so now it is back in it’s old spot and weight is 👍. I’m good with this. Woke up early with scratchy throat and plugged nose.
5/7 124.5 I feel miserable. I wish my head would explode. Went to bed at 11:30, woke up at 2:30 and again around 4. Nose running like a faucet so I got up. Took something for the headache which has improved a bit. We are at DD’s with no car so forced rest. YAY! Maybe I’ll binge watch something on Netflix. And drink LOTS OF WATER. This will pass, just feeling sorry for myself.
5/8 123.0 Got a decent night’s sleep so I feel a little better. DGS’s graduation tonight.
5/9 122.0 1300 students - even with 4 people reading the names, it takes a while for all those kids to walk across the stage! Leaving for Iowa this afternoon.
5/10 NWI In Ames, Iowa until Sunday morning. Hanging out with DGD#2 who graduates tomorrow. DH has my cold, we’re all exhausted. Need this day to rest before graduation activities and moving Stassja out of her apartment.
I will probably be late tomorrow due to graduation stuff starting at 9AM with College of Interior Design convocation and university graduation in the afternoon. Dinner tonight with family and friends at a nice restaurant. There will be cake. I avoided it at a party here last summer.12 -

05/03 147.8 Even though this is technically hitting my goal weight for this round, I'm going to keep my goal weight the same for now. Still going strong on my (temporary) keto plan, and I set movement alarms yesterday to reach 3744 steps. Two weekends to get through in this round, here we go! (Don't mess it up, don't mess it up...)

There are lots of things I like about this way of eating, and so many things that are not sustainable for me in the long term, as I have learned previously. 05/09 146.2 So of course I didn't GAIN 2.6 lbs overnight on the 887 calories I consumed yesterday (abnormally low, I was having an awful pain day). Nor did I, evidently, LOSE 2 lbs OF PURE FAT between Monday and Tuesday, ha. Weighing daily on this challenge has taught me that it'll all settle out!

- A general downward trend is what we are looking for.
- Eating out can cause apparent weight gain because of high sodium levels, but usually goes quickly. Drinking extra water helps with this.
- The human body does not react instantly to what we do to it. Sometimes it can take several days to see results.
- Plateaus are a normal part of the process. The body is consolidating and adapting to your new way of eating/exercising.
- The closer you get to your goal weight, the more difficult it becomes to lose weight, as your body becomes more efficient at using what you feed it.
- When you exercise you build muscle, which takes up less space than fat, so use measurements as well as weight to assess your progress.
- Getting/Staying fit and healthy requires a lifestyle change for most people.

05/03 – 198.8 – TGIF! Misty morning walk (60 min). Grocery shopping after class. Made Rueben sandwiches (all that salt!) and a cucumber salad for dinner, then settled down for a lazy Friday evening in. Looks like rain might put a damper on outdoor plans tomorrow Trying to stay optimistic
05/04 – 199.4 – A little bump, but I’ll work on it this week. This morning’s rain gave way to a beautiful sunny afternoon in the city. 21,716 steps, including over 2 ½ hours of walking through the park at a brisk pace. At least 96 oz of water, but I’ll need a bit more before I turn in tonight.
05/05 – 199.4 – Heavy rain all day. Lazy morning and no walk, but I eventually got a couple of hours of cleaning done before my dinner guests arrived. Carnitas tacos, sangria, and flan put me over my calorie limit, but I was under yesterday, so we’ll see how that works out. Fun weekend. I ate all kinds of food, but less of it than I might have in the past. Working on developing sustainable habits 😊
05/06 – 200.0 – Not unexpected, but somehow still disappointing. I guess it’s a reminder to get back on track. Got a few chores in before work. 60 minute walk along the shore (boardwalk) with the wind providing some resistance. 10+ waters.
05/07 – 199.4 – That’s better. Looks like another lovely day, so I’ll try to squeeze in a walk before class and do some weeding this afternoon. (Update: 70 min walk and 30 min of weeding! Plenty of water.)
05/08 – 199 – Woke up sluggish and achy – yesterday’s aggressive weeding session aggravated my sciatica, derailing my plan to walk before class. A trip to the mall with my daughter boosted my spirits, and the two new belts I bought for my now loose jeans boosted my confidence. Took the dog for a 45 min walk before dinner. Good hydration.
05/09 – 198.4 – A badly needed rest day. Last full week of classes and, as usual, I'm playing catch-up on grading and thus not getting enough sleep. Looking forward to sleeping in this weekend!
05/10 – 198.8 – Back where I started at the beginning of this challenge. Oh, well. Busy day with my grandson’s kindergarten show in the morning and a quick early lunch with my mom before class. Picked the kids up after school and took them for ices. Chinese take-out for dinner. So many temptations but I managed a small deficit. No time to walk. Hoping to work off some of those extra calories in the garden tomorrow. Still hoping for a drop by Sunday, but I’m okay with holding steady this round.

05/03 72.7kg my usual post loss blip up. Ran and planked already but bring on the weekend!
05/04 72.4 kg... Nice weekend drop. Will do strength training when I wake up properly.
05/05 72.5kg and I'm going to enjoy sedentary Sunday.
05/06 71.8kg💃🏽and I knocked 20s off last week's benchmark run! Got strength training class this pm so it's all out for a new week.
05/07 71.9kg.no problem it always happens. I need a new hole on my belt and I found some skinny jeans in my closet that fit. Happy days. Planks and push ups done and netball planned for this evening.
05/08 72.2kg and I'm sure it'll come down. Aching from all the exercise. Sprints this morning!
05/09 72.0kg trickling back down. Planks and pushup done
05/10 71.6kg. And the slowest 4.5k run I've done this year! At least I finished it despite not wanting to.

Achieved goal weigh of 125lb in summer 2016 by losing 66lb and have gradually gained between 7 and 11 since then; I don't want to gain any more, but would like to get back to my goal weight – I'm working at it!
The last day I shall not be weighing in as we shall be flying out for the first day of our holiday in Italy. Need to do really well over the next 9 days .
Round goal - to weigh less at the end of the round than the start, I think maybe it's too ambitious to want to be in the 120's?

05/04 131.4 - walked 8 miles
05/05 132.4 - walked 10 miles yesterday, was within calories, but loads of carbs so to be expected
05/06 132 - walked just under 14.5 miles yesterday, so loving North Yorkshire, but travel home again today so at least 3 hours in the car
05/07 131.2 – walked almost 5 ¼ miles yesterday
05/08 131.2 – just under 8 ½ miles walked yesterday, met up with my sisters under pressure to eat more, but stayed strong and using portion limitation stayed well within calorie limit.
05/09 130.2 – woohoo !! 8 miles walked yesterday – woke up starving hungry at 1.30 am!! but resisted the urge to get up and eat
05/10 130.2 – 8 ¼ miles walked yesterday. Need to hold on to this weight for tomorrow which will be my final weigh in for the round before I fly off for a weeks holiday in Italy, don't think I will be able to find any scales over there, but will keep in touch.
05/11 130.2 – 9 miles walked yesterday. So pleased to retain this number for my final weight of this round – need to try to maintain on my holiday in Italy the coming week – pasta & pizza in moderation !!!

05/03-94.6kg and 4,300 steps. Today is a good day, becuase today I get to mark Mini GW2! Been waiting for it for long, and probably not a good idea to start a round low, but I'm taking it with both hands! Woohoo!
05/04-94.6kg and 5,500 steps. Nice and steady. Should walk more.
05/05--95.3kg and 9,300 steps. Flactuations. Falctuation. Flactuations.
05/06-94.8kg and 18,600 steps.
05/07-95.0kg and 6,300 steps + 🚴♀️
05/08-95.0kg and 10,300 steps. Stable and happy
05/09-94.3kg and 10,600 steps. Mini woosh. Let's see where this round ends. Trying to commit to walking in the evenings despite that it is quit cold the last few days.

05/03 13,10 - Ho hum. Start of Bank Holiday weekend so need to plan out food so I don't go off-track.
05/04 13,11 - Seriously irritated by this but too busy to get drawn into a funk. This is my heaviest workout day with a 2hr martial arts session including fight fitness which was a killer today. No car available so I had to bike there and back in the wind. On the up-side I have lots of calories to play with.
05/05 13,10 - Got up super early to do a car boot sale. Despite being busy I seem to have used up far to high a percentage of my calories before dinner.
05/06 13,10 Overate yesterday. Need to get back on track today
05/07 13,10 Went further off the track without a map. Back into routine today so should get sorted.
05/08 13,9 Does anyone else stare at the scales willing it downwards?
05/09 13,10 Not unexpected. Yesterday was a total disaster for food and the days before weren't much better so this was going to happen. Very annoyed at myself - but need to stop it here before it continues
05/10 13,10 The scales were wavering between 13,9 and 10 but stopped at 10 - hopefully this means tomorrow it will go back to 9. Had a reasonable day yesterday. Am hoping can end the round back at 13,8 where I started it.
05/11 13,9 Heavy workout today so tomorrow it might dip down or I might retain water and it could even go up (again)
