Amber The pics of JR are so cute! The one with him peaking over the counter looks like it could be my youngest when he was little (he's almost 26 now). Sounds like your diet restrictions are like mine! Glad you are catching it before it's Type 2 for you. I had gestational diabetes with my first child (who's now 38) but no one changed my diet and I didn't get diagnosed Type 2 until this year. Hope you will never be diagnosed and will avoid all the complications diabetes causes!

My son has been in Puerto Rico on business the last couple of days. They cut the trip short due to Dorian. My daughter-in-law reports that his plane is approaching Florida now. Glad he got out of there!8

Lanette-glad surgery went well. I am a believer in the anti-nausea patches!
1948Peachy-cute anniversary pic!
JanetOkc-sorry about young man’s set back. Also hope knee doesn’t need surgery, but definitely sounds like it needs checked.
Bananasandoranges-nice gratitude list. Hope knee continues with healing. Earlier foot accident could be a factor. You may not have been walking normally (and not necessarily noticed it). Glad you got a work out in. Logging has really helped me and I agree any sort of loss is better than gain (unless, or course, a person really needs to not loose anything!)
Drkatiebug-I agree-the yogi bedtime tea is really helpful.
LuciBThinner-I was just starting to like you until the team up north got mentioned! Actually, while I root for the Buckeyes, and have a degree from there, I really don’t care for any of the college teams super rabid fans—they are boys playing a game we get to watch and have fun. Step son is OSU fan, his wife and her family Michigan-they have a great house-divided party every year that is always fun regardless of the outcome!
Regarding coffee, I have always loved it. I have switched the past few months to making a pot three quarters decaf and 4 scoops regular. When I go grocery shopping I do splurge and get a Starbucks dark roast-that’s my big boost for the week.
Busy day at work today. Came home, had dinner, cleaned up kitchen, checked on SIL. Her housemate fell a week ago and broke shoulder, arm, and some ribs. Is currently in nursing home for rehab. SIL concerned that she cannot help her if she returns home (SIL is 70 with health issues, housemate is 80). Problem is that while housemate has never paid rent to live there and SIL owns house, since she has let her live there for 28 years, it is considered housemate's residence and is SIL does not believe she can take care of her, she would have to legally evict her. A bit of a mess.
Off to get some sleep. Take care all.

Luci- That’s My hope that way if I get it I tried to prevent it. If not then great 👍
Lol yeah that’s JR sneaking up to the counter if he stands up straight his head sticks over he can reach all 4 burners!!! So cook when hubby has him, booster seat ,or baby gate that he can open so lots of No’s . I cook for multiple types of meals at once! If I don’t do one of those 3 it’s peaking then reach you got to stop him quickly so I don’t let him roam free!!! I’m not fast enough so picture nothing cooking but you sees he’s making sure the stinker!

Got awesome news today!! My mom’s scans were negative for any metastatic disease!! We are dealing with a very large tumor in her breast with two positive lymph nodes. She will start oral chemotherapy to shrink the tumor and then have a mastectomy.
@LuciBThinner I have a masters from The Ohio State University and one of my daughter’s godfathers has a degree from “that school up North”. We are a house divided. My daughter leans toward OSU. We usually cheer for each other except for that one game each year!

Great British Bake Off starts again tonight. I have boycotted it for a few years because the company who makes it switched from the BBC to Channel 4 for the highest bidder. I was incensed! Most of the original presenters left in protest. Now time has passed and I am prepared to forgive their greed and watch it again. How frail am I.
Love Heather UK xxxxxxx
I love that show!! Is the new season on here in USA? Or will I have to wait a bit? Wasn't sure I liked the new presenters but love the bakers and challenges!

Bananas: It's everything except my hips, shoulders, neck and back. Wrists, knees, ankles and hands are afflicted to the point that I need compression. It's difficult. I've learned that I must exercise while the sun is still up because come nightfall I'm boned. In the winter this is challenging. I'm always looking for workarounds I can use on the bad days. Worst days I need a cane and it's a wash but that isn't common.4

Conni ... that is awesome news, indeed! Continuing to pray for your mom!

eep, can't edit my post? I forgot to add the workout. It's either a half hour on the elliptical and a 15 minute cooldown walking on the treadmill or else it's half an hour on the exercise bike and half an hour of moderate weights. On bad days I'll just substitute whatever I can using whatever body part is least bad.3

Connie, that's great news about your mom.

Luci WNC "Diabetes Who on here is also suffering diabetes? Just curious how people are controlling their blood sugar..."
Luci, I took meds for Type II diabetes for over 10 years, since losing 125# I've been off of all meds.

Gothchic- It does that I can’t edit mine either or it skips me to the last page I have to remember where I was! Or it won’t post got to copy refresh y paste. Still the best site out there so gotta live with it. I found hot tub the cool pool then hot tub at a local gym helped my rheumatoid arthritis days (genetic Dads side so he gets shots now has an upside down hanging rack that looks medival torture chamber). I use a lot of Thera-gesic Maximum cream (has pain reliever) y biofreze company spray y salonpas pain patches . Some of the ladies here like that new stuff but illegal in my state still Brain fog 🌫 the name anyone remember good for dogs too think made from canibis stuff . Swear have Peri menopause period that soaks through makes my mind go with it! I’ll remember it when we don’t need the name anymore.
Vibrators y heating pads y cooling pads help certain areas. I have to wear ankle brace sometimes to sleep then off by morning when it acts up. So many tricks but they work today but not tomorrow. Let’s face it our bodies have been through a lot health isn’t helping any now of days. Hugs just do your best it’s all we got. Theirs days I can’t exercise at all others I knock it out of the park. Just go by your body y Doctor for exercise eat right it will get results with time.
Janet - Definitely working on losing my weight keeping it off glad to here weight loss helped yours.
Night all

Type 2 diabetes - I was well-controlled for 4 years, but bad stress-eating last summer and fall through me out of control. I modified a few things and lost 15 lbs, but I was still not doing what I needed to do. I saw a diabetes educator/registered dietician in February. We decided on a 1600 calorie exchange plan. I struggled to keep up with the exchanges. So we converted everything to numbers and put the macronutrients into MFP. I joined Planet Fitness so I could exercise when the weather stinks - no excuses. Since February I have lost 50 lbs for a 65 lb total loss. I’m back in control and still on metformin. I’d love to lose another 45 lbs. I’m amazed at how great I feel now.

You've got 1 hour to edit your post and after that it is locked.
Have you seen a physiotherapist ... especially one that specialises? Sometimes they can really help. My feet were almost completely inflexible (which we've determined would have caused some of my hip issues when I ran), but I've got some movement back! I noticed it about a week ago, when my arthritic big toe joints clicked during one exercise. Never thought I'd be so excited about a little click, but means that joint is moving enough again to click.

Maybe that explains why it went off the air here a few years ago.
I miss it.
But on the other hand, maybe it's a good thing. I always want to make the stuff they're making.

Connie - great news regarding your Mom.
Luci - not my story but my Mom is Type 2 diabetic. She was insulin dependent 4 shots a day and still struggled to control it when she started showing signs of Alzheimer’s. She was eating to excess so my brother decided to deliver all her meals to her. He went to a dietician, found out what her portions should be, if they suggested something he knew she wouldn’t eat he asked for alternatives. In 11 months she had lost 60lbs and was down to one metphormin a day. This was without any exercise to speak of. He didn’t take away all treats, he just made them regular portions a couple nights a week instead of every night. He also on Friday nights took her out to eat and there were no restrictions that night, she could order whatever she wanted. She has been in a nursing home now for almost 2 years and is back on more meds now.
I am caught up reading again, still not a lot to say.
