My meeting with my old friend went very well. I have known her from around 12 and she was my best friend at school from 13 -15, though it did get a bit fraught by the end - jealousy etc. We kept in touch for a while after uni, but drifted apart. I just found her take on life so different from mine.
However, we spent three hours chatting at the restaurant! ! Then we strolled around the supermarket together while I picked up a few things.
I think we are now a bit too old to let old rivalries come between us, though I will watch out for any negative turns. I'm half expecting it. I did want to find a local friend to meet now and again for lunch, so, as long as I don't get too involved I think it will be alright. On past performance, I don't really trust her, but all is good so far.
She has Non Hodgekins Lymphoma and diabetes.
I left it that I would be in touch when I get back from the cruise.
DH was happy when I got home as he had found a book shop voucher card in his filing that he had forgotten about. My brother must have gifted it to him for Christmas. He took it into town and bought two books about Anglo Saxon London and the Vikings that will help him with his new novel.
So, a good day.
Connie - Very happy to hear about your mum.

On Friday we have our yearly trek to Seattle, for husband's liver transplant checkup. Sooo, much fun....not. Wish we could video chat with doctors from University of Washington. Its a feeling I get when we go, they're handling his file, but their not vested in actually caring for my husband. I mean this hospital didn't perform the transplant, OHSU did. But we go, and they look at him, and look at his test numbers. I just miss the feeling we got with Oregon Health and Science University hospital. We'd go into the office and each would have the same pill bag. Part of this secret society, and they would smile and we would strike up a conversation. Each transplant patient at difference stages of the journey. Since we were at the end, into maintenance, talking to the transplant newbies was encouraging. We gave them hope.
So I managed to bonk my hand on the treadmill the other day. Husband was on the machine next to me, and occasionally he nicely pesters me, poking me, pressing incline button when I have my eyes closed, listening to music. Well, the other day I turned, to him, my feet sidestepping on the treadmill. My right hand bonked the corner where the emergency stop button is. I hit the vein and boop, it raised up!
Today its just black and blue, or like a hot a festival stamp on my hand.👍

The pool was 79 degrees but it felt so refreshing
Teri – do you need to use a special binding or do you use part of the backing fabric?
Rebecca – your hand look ouch! Glad it’s better today

Amber ~ With his weight and height, does he really have to use a car seat? When my son was young no one used them; of course, I know the laws have changed.
Got my ears pierced today so I can wear earrings with my short new hair.

First day back, kind of fun unpacking and setting up, tomorrow the more difficult day when I meet the new colleague (she was actually my student teacher 10 years ago). I can handle it, I am becoming more and more detached emotionally from the interactions with adults. The interaction with kids is really what matter anyway!!!
I'm shopping for treadmills, comparing proform with nordic trac and am in the $800 range. Will give myself a month to research and make a decision then.

Carol GA - New Texas laws got kids sitting in them up to age 8yrs old!!! Daughter out grew hers a month early but back then the age limit think was 3or 4yrs old. I got to read the DMV worker handbook online link from DMV see what it says word for word on stuff. Hubby may want to search the market for a slightly taller one since the next one up might not be as safe either for toddlers neck or body structure. It’s not as simple as doesn’t fit just move up cause he’s hitting milestones too fast. When I started this site had the raccoon incident he was only 3ft wore 4T some 4/5’s. Since then he shot up a lot were not even 2 1/2yet! Not too happy about the new law it took effect a few years ago it’s ridiculous! 8yrs old I was going to work with my parents back in the day.
Halloween costume we bought last year for JR to grow into can’t find the size in it. No wonder it was on sale! Still have 2 months but need to see if we need to bag this to give away with the rest. Got to go through everything on the house check height to weight requirements (Growth spurts are a pain in this house!) Got to find the brochures or online check each one call companies to see if that’s the ultimate weight or if it has a 5lb cushion or height allowance of plus so many. Garage is filling up fast. Graco high chair cleaned ready for next family his legs got too big y weight limit was 40lbs.Toddler bath tub been in there. Toy ride on car 35lb limit too short been in there too. Not sure if I should get rid of his fire truck ride on his feet drag behind him but he loves it not sure if theirs anything bigger out there yet. We’re in panic mode especially me cause we all know it falls on Moms to keep up with this stuff.

Yvonne & Katla My son made it to Florida last night but missed his connecting flight. He arrived in Virginia today at 1 pm. We are all glad he is home!
Beth Yes, our school year starts Tuesday. Eighth grade. The goal is to prepare grandson to attend brick & mortar high school next fall as a ninth-grader with IEP and accommodations in place. He needs to learn to negotiate the world but will require some protections and accommodations to survive it. In the meantime, eighth grade will be online at home with Grammy as Learning Coach.
Amber - I am remembering how big my grandkids were at the age of 7 - 98th percentile for height & 95th for weight - can't imagine them having to sit in a car seat until they were 8! That's crazy!

KarenVA - You are an amazing grandma! Getting him ready for the real world is essential and you are doing a great job.
Mary from Minnesota/ready to go back to Arizona where it’s warm!5 -
Carol - when I was 13 or so I convinced my Grandmother who was around 70 to get her ears pierced. She was so proud of them and wore them for 10 or 12 years until she needed hearing aids.
I hope you get as much pleasure with your new piercing as my Grandmithwr did.
Another great day today at work. I just love this job and look forward to going to work every day.

Karen VA- Exactly my point! JRs 100% percentile they joke if it went higher he’d be more than that. One Doctor calls him “the giant”. To her defense she is way under 5ft tall on her country of birth that’s normal. There’s no way we can keep him in a car seat until 8! DMV told us to go by height luckily but still the heights ridiculous too lol the Doctor almost still needs a booster seat with these guidelines lol good thing she’s older than 8 now!
Car seat company emailed the Manuel told us the exact numbers to go by but still he’s on the line! Going to have to measure a bunch will see Got the next size up in the garage.Hubby thinks he saw one in store or online that would give us another 4inches if growing room! Same weight tho he thinks it was affordable. Going to look for it tomorrow. Lol now if I do got to remember to not grab the wrong Manuel when checking not easy I store everything in the same drawer. Going to have to watch his spurts measure a lot y weight him regularly.
Halloween outfit found the tag 🏷 lost on the floor size 6 so unless the next 2 months is another growth should fit fingers crossed everyone knock on wood!!! We have the same head size lol I just got fat cheeks still (need to loose them pounds) so JR had me wear it he laughed y laughed. It the hat I’m worried about not sure if his heads done growing before Halloween 🎃. If it does no hat. More stuff to check on tomorrow weight limit for toy fire truck next.

Lovely Ladies of Ohio! Wow, I am so outnumbered...I will try not to comment during the fall. Forgive me for my birthplace, upbringing, and college days. The "school up north" gave me a full ride in music, so what could I do? It helped with my first career which spanned 35+ years. I had amazing opportunities to perform with many famous people all over the country...for that I will be forever grateful! My oldest son is best friends with an OSU fan. They wear their MI and OSU t-shirts around when they go places together. Always gets comments.
Connie Wonderful news that your Mom's cancer has not spread! I will be praying for her throughout the chemo, surgery, and recovery. Please keep us updated on her progress!
Diabetes So far, I have been able to control my diabetes with diet and exercise. I still have trouble planning carbs. It's really a lot to learn...especially when you have eaten wrong your entire life! I appreciate everyone's comments and ideas. I am still studying books with recipe ideas and trying to get used to staying away from sugar and comfort foods which are often starchy.
Rebecca Sorry you got the big ouch on your hand! Hope it is feeling better!
Carol Excited for you having pierced ears. I love earrings and wear all kinds constantly.
Pip and Rita Adorable puppy pictures! I am a huge dog lover (and lover of animals in general)!
Michele LOL on the tight pants on the football players. Only problem is I like college ball and they are just young boys...can't look at them that way. I think it's illegal.
Tomorrow afternoon I have my first cataract/glaucoma surgery. The hardest part will be no food until after 2:00 surgery. Otherwise should be a piece of cake. That's a long time to wait for food, since I am normally up around 7...I guess it will give me a hint as to what happens to my blood sugar if I fast for the morning. Have had suggestions to try Intermittent Fasting to lose more weight.
Hope everyone has a terrific Thursday!

Luci- What was your music career? Sounds interesting. Best of luck with the surgery!
Blood work this pm, then the cleaner comes.
I really will download Word today. This technophobe finds it all so scary.

Luci WNC: Good luck for the op. When my dad had his done, DH said he was like a big kid on the journey home after he got the bandages off. He couldn't believe how bright and colourful everything was again.
Amber: I thought we had problems with our grandson, who has always been big for his age. We always had to buy him clothes for 3 years older than he was. He's over 6' tall at 16, and still growing.
Tracey: I love earrings. But could never quite bring myself to have my ears pierced. I made a lot of my own earrings when I was younger. Seldom wear them these days because of hearing aids.
Rebecca: Ouch! (((Hugs)))
Peace 🕊 and Love 💕💖💕

@Machka9 it seems unfair that people on long term worker's comp can't travel to see family. are exceptions made on request?
@JRsLateInLifeMom lots of extra work in childproofing; what a crazy desert! that must be at least a day's worth of calories for me.
@cityjaneLondon Heather, meeting up with old friends can be such a mixed bag, can be great, and refreshing, but also we sometimes evolve so differently. also increased awareness can change one's perception of the dynamic (past or present). Or one can be really focussed on the "good old days" and the other can be more in the present.
I lost part of my post! sorry about that!2
