morning ladies
I am up having my tea, I finally picked up heavy cream yesterday.. I like sitting in the morning watching the birds, will go down and feed DFIL in a bit and ask If I can go down and visit with Chester for a little bit...at noon we are getting together to go to a winery, I might make a few deviled eggs and celery with cream cheese, both things I know I can eat, and bring a couple of bottles of water..
I have been a bit down on myself, but turned my frown upside down I have to think at this time last year i was close to 210 lbs and wearing 2-3 x, even though 47 lbs doesnt seem alot.. even though they are stretchy I have on size 12/14 jeggings and a xl top, I can fit into some large ones, i still have the meno pot in front and since losing the weight it is like a big fat blob that take up alot of room.. cant afford a tummy tuck so will have to live with it..
gonna go finish my tea and then go to nursing home7 -
Ready to leave for the lunch party.

Greetings to all of you fine ladies.
I love mornings. The prospect of a new beginning is simply wonderful to me. I love listening to the birds starting to wake up and watching the sun opening up a new day. I am trying to develop new methods/attitudes of how I handle challenging situations. Some new mantras, "this has been put before me as a learning experience", "how I react is a direct reflection of me", "am I really going to remember this day a year/5 years from now", "what kind of day is that person having to behave like that and what can I do to change their day", etc.. Does anyone else have mantras or things they say to themselves when there is a bump in the road?
Michele - Wow, we are practically neighbors when we take in Florida as a whole. Yes, I have what I call a "Barbie" Publix a little less than a mile away from my home. I can walk to it through the neighborhood and can avoid major roads (you know Florida drivers). Do you winter here?
Rho - I have considered going sugarless, but am reluctant. I am not pre-diabetic (TG). I am finding sugar cravings are much lower since I have started this journey which may be due to providing better nutrition to my body so maybe it's not searching for missing fuel/nutrients?
Lisa - I love the pictures and the progress you're making in your new home. Interesting our "problem" is completely the opposite. I moved quite frequently (not as often as you) in my 20's. I have been in my current home for 25 years now. When I look at the cost of things here in South Florida and how costs will rise over time I start to question if this is the place I want to call my final home. There are so many more affordable places to live. And, I want to be able to travel the US in retirement. Over the next two years my plan is to visit areas I have been researching and then making a decision to pack it all in and make the big jump or stay. It is somewhat scary thinking about leaving everything I have known for the past 30+ years yet it's also exciting imagining the exploration of a new area.
NYKaren - I am happy for you in the way you are handling your continue to work challenge. And, to have such a supportive husband is a real blessing. It has to be a relief to know you are able to make whatever decision you want and someone is there by your side to make it all work out.
Being so new to this group I am still learning about all of you and your challenges and triumphs. Sending positive thoughts to all of you taking care of loved ones and dealing with life's challenges.

PS: Read a sad article today. Amtrak is going to "eliminate" the dining car as it is currently known and opting for a "cafe-type" of experience. Apparently millennials do not like eating with strangers (I guess they prefer staring at their phones). It's interesting how the generations differ - I love meeting people with different backgrounds and the dining car was something to look forward to when traveling by train. It seems like all of those science fiction books I read are becoming a reality........5 -
Just noticed in the photo I still have the remnants of the bump on the forehead from a couple of weeks ago! I walked into a wall - honest!
Just got a minute to applauded Lisa and hubby for their hard work creating the mudroom. Congratulations! :drinker:

SuziQ - thank you (and thanks to everyone who commented). Corey and I started looking for our forever home within the first year of our marriage, both virtually and traveling. We loved landwatch.com, but mainly because we were searching for someplace that had acreage. We're here in Arkansas because it is, still, hands-down, some of the best value for housing that's available with a reasonably temperate climate, four seasons, lakes and rivers and mountains. We took nearly ten years to decide on this area, after literally checking every state (except Alaska, where my husband is from and didn't want to go back.)
We visited the east coast, west coast, south coast, and lived in Texas (twice, in six different houses), Oregon and North Carolina in the interim. During all this, we drove up the western side of Arkansas on the way to visit our daughter in Missouri, and fell in love with it. Just took us a while to get here. In the end, we found a three-bedroom, bath and a half, stone-clad house built mid-20th century, with 11 acres, 9 of it forested, for less than a third of what it would have cost us anywhere else.
Got to go, think I'll go to the gym and get my resistance work done, and stop and look at shelves on the way back. The hubby will be asleep for another hour, at least, and I'm ready to get something done.
Later, my chickens,

Tracy & Suzi I am lucky to be with my DH, a little back history, when he was struggling badly with work 20 years ago he admitted he just couldn't go on with his profession (he was in the tech business) it was taking too much of a toll. It was a very high paying career but the pound of flesh felt more like a ton! He dropped off that hamster wheel and I supported the family for years. Eventually he's found less stressful work in property management but I still carry the heavier load financially. We've learned over the years to make our needs clear to one another, it ain't perfect but we're making it work!
Heather very very scary, glad DH is ok today. Love the picture
Matchka I'm sending the Teddy Roosevelt quote to a work friend right now, it's perfect for what's she's going through.
Lisa DH and I are just starting the research into a forever home in the next few years. We're anchored to NY for his mom, but the looking is going to be a fun hobby right now. Next week we're heading to Southern VA to take a look at some homes just for fun.
Off for a good long walk NYKAREN5 -
Good morning all! Happy Sunday! It rained last night, so it is still dark this morning. There is a nice breeze, I can hear the waves hitting the shore and it is relatively warm out (about 70F). I was making my coffee this morning and Tim (my DH, for you new girls) shuffled into the kitchen. He had been up for a while and was making himself some soup (this is a sign that he doesn't feel well). I said, "Isn't it lovely out? Can you hear the waves?" He grunted, "I hurt." Me: "Do you need anything?" Him: "Soup." Ugh! I took my coffee out to the driveway and just sat, in the semi darkness (sun was coming up) and enjoyed the sounds and air. A couple of people ran by, one of them whispered "Hi, Miss Kel!" lol One of my former daycare charges. The birds are silent this morning, which makes me think we have a storm coming in. For now, it is just wonderful outside. The sound of the water, a light breeze, with the occasional gust that stirs the tree branches into a mesmerizing dance. I could watch the trees move for hours...
It has been a hectic week. The flu is making it's rounds through my daycare families, so if the kids weren't throwing up, it was coming out the other end. Knock on wood, I have stayed healthy and will continue to do so. Anyway, illness just means I need to be super-vigilant about disinfecting things/surfaces. Kids under 4 "mouth" everything.
Wednesday evening, after work, I headed into Grand Rapids to participate in a focus group for the state in regards to childcare provider needs. I actually got paid to give the state my opinions. lol Fools! I think, given the opportunity, most people would do this for free; myself included. There were nine other providers there, representing four counties in the West Michigan area. Two of us were "family home" providers (we can take up to six children), two were from "group homes" (they can take up to 12 children), two were from "special needs" centers (both centers took refugee children/migrant children), the other four providers were from centers. It was a productive night and I enjoyed meeting the ladies and hearing other opinions and "issues" as well. But it was a LOOOONG evening, after waking up at 5 in the morning! Thursday morning came early and the kids were all fussy, due to not feeling well. But I made it through the week. I also managed to keep up my morning exercise routine (which is why I haven't had time to chat) every day this week, except Thursday.
Heather- Your afternoon/evening with your older son sounds wonderful! It is nice when the town you live in seems to show it's "charming" side when you have visitors, don't you think? So glad your DH is okay after his fainting spells! You both look fantastic in your pre-party photo! I hope you have a wonderful celebration!
Lisa- The work you have done on your house is just astounding! Your kitchen looks lovely! I admire your recognition of how you need to "let go" of change and be content where you are. I have never thought of how that may be a struggle for some. I am the opposite and feel like my life is one of "sameness". Same house for almost 20 years, same job for 20+ years, same husband for 30+ years, same, same, same. I am content with same (right now); lord knows, there is enough for me to do around here to get/keep things as I want them. But there is a part of my soul that longs for something different. I guess that is why I keep puttering around on Duolingo, have emails for flight deals to anywhere interesting sent to me, and my favorite books and movies are an adventure to "somewhere else".
Allie - You are doing wonderfully on your weight loss/ healthy habits journey! Despite everything you have been dealing with the past year or two, you are so successful in how you have been caring for yourself! You inspire!
The rain is here! Gee, what a great morning!
Love and hugs to everyone! I better get busy and get my house cleaned and a bit more food prep done for the week. ttfn xoxoxo KJ (Kelly)11 -
Allie: My heart goes out to you. Our daughter has had to make the hard choice several time with her pets. I agree with you that’s it’s not fair to let them suffer, but think it’s a heartbreaking choice we have to make.
Lisa?: So relieved your black mood re future healthcare has lifted. Those spoilers were an eye-opener. Fabulous reno! You’re fitting so much in!2 -
It's Sunday, ladies!
SuziQ - enjoyed reading your mantras. "If something gets in my way I go around it" by Kiki Dee is my anthem. Now it's going to be my earworm all day, lol. Good speedy walking music.
Lisa - fantastic job on the remodel! Chip and Joanna would be jealous. Must be that Texas get up and go, lol. You have done such marvelous work on your place.
Barbie - sorry to hear about Bessie. Our older dog Sophie takes constant vigilance to keep her digestion up to par it seems. I found something called "PET Pectillin" (Amazon) which works great for Sophie's loose stools and she gets 1/4 of a Pepcid AC when her tummy is upset. Hope Bessie is doing better.
Kate - I forgot to mention before, I have started watching "Carnival Row" on Prime. The special effects are stunning! I've only watched the first episode so anxious to keep going. Orlando Bloom is a versatile actor. And kinda hunky!
Rho - thank you for sharing your story. You have been through so much!! Glad we are here for you to share your journey back to health. Have you read "Women Rowing North"?
Machka - (((HUGS))) Glad you got everything working again and found the phone. Do you think your being sick affected him in any way - did he have anxiety because you weren't "you" for a few days? Not that this had anything to do with the computer/phone incident. Just curious.
Heather - so glad your DH is OK. Wow. Your photo is stunning, you get younger each time we see you I think. Enjoyed hearing your story, you inspire us. The countdown is beginning to your cruise, can't wait to see photos of it.
Make it a wonderful day, ladies.

LaurieLynn62 wrote: »Hi all! I've been using MFP off and on for years. I'm 57 and had lost 25 pounds about 7 years ago. I managed to keep it off until a little over a year ago when it started creeping back on (thank you menopause and injuries). I was considering WW but wanted to give being active in a group for accountability and logging daily a chance to work for me again.
My calorie goal is 1200/day. My workout is Chalean Extreme (Beachbody workout) plus a goal of 10,000 steps per day. Unfortunately, I have a full-time job where I sit at a desk all day but at least I can adjust it so I can stand up and work (when I remember to do it).
I haven't had a chance to read through all of the September posts, but this looks like a wonderful group of ladies.

It is nice to see another person who has returned and working at getting the pounds off as well as staying in shape. I am 76 and just keeping to 1200 calories a day and getting in 10,000 steps has me pumped and motivated at the consistent weight loss of 1 to 1.5 pounds a week..Good luck to you Karen in Virginia

No, this is just how it goes. He'll have a day where he appears to be almost back to "normal", and the next day is a massive swing the other way. And back and forth and back and forth ...
That was part of the problem with his back to work person. She'd see him on a good day, or a good portion of a day, but she wouldn't see him on a bad day.
However, some of this may have been me not paying attention because I was sick. I know he told me on Thursday morning as I was getting ready for work that one of his phones was missing. I wasn't feeling great on Thursday, I never feel great in the morning, and I remember him handing me one of his phones and when I glanced at it, it had gone to voice mail ... and he told me he couldn't find the phone he had just called. I think I said something like, "it'll turn up" expecting he would look for it, but sometimes he doesn't quite "get" phrases like that, so he didn't bother looking. I should have followed up with that.
And I should have written down a few things about his computer for him. I told him to install Malwarebytes and it would be finished. So ... he apparently installed all sorts of programs he had on other computers, completely filled this one and when he finally went to install Malwarebytes as I had told him, it crashed badly. And then I think he panicked and by the time I got there he was reinstalling Windows 10. I knew something was wrong the minute I got up this morning by the look on his face.
I'm retraining as much as he is. It does seem that every time I just assume that he'll be OK with something and don't write things down or don't give specific instructions, all hck breaks loose.
Amongst all this, we're trying to work on another project (taxes), and I've done my part, but I think I'm going to have to break his down into steps. Look for this first, then that, etc. because he's just getting lost. And I think that project is stressing him out. I'll be glad when it's done.
Anyway ... phone found, computer fixed with Malwarebytes installed, banking issues settled, and I think my part of the taxes are done so I can focus on his. So all is not lost!!
It's late in the evening, I've been drinking chamomile tea and my headache is disappearing.

Lanette, Bessie is feeling better. She ate her supper and breakfast of chicken breast and white rice. She won't take any medication by mouth so any obvious solution for other dogs won't work for her.
Heather, You and your husband look fabulous.

Heather: You look fabulous! We visited Egypt on our first cruise in 2009 from Durban, South Africa to Genoa, Italy, via the SuezCanal. We went to Cairo and Giza. We had to bypass Luxor and missed the Valley of the Kings because our ship was attacked by Somali pirates just beyond the Seychelles and our course was altered for safety reasons.
Just arrived at daughter’s house for our Sunday visit.4 -

We had the Ocho Millas bike race here yesterday. 64 miles of hills. It is 8 laps around the park with 8 mile laps. Disappointing turnout this year, but did have over 60 participants. Benefits a reach out program. I was with a couple from the park Friends group selling T shirts. Didn’t sell any. Disappointed. At least it was overcast and drizzling. A nice cool day for the race. Last year the sun was out and it was over 90 degrees out!
Cool and still drizzling today. Just in time for fall.
Starting to feel better. Thank you all.

Did Kathy Smith’s Power Walk DVD. The plan for tomorrow is to do one segment of the 10MS Butt Lift DVD then take the extremepump class.
Need to go to bowling early tomorrow since we’re having our organizational meeting for the winter league. Ceramics at night then mahjongg.
Ginny OH – what is ironing???? Good for you pants and coats going to Goodwill
Rho – you have my admiration for all you’ve been thru and to be where you are now
M – you also have my undying admiration. I feel so blessed to call you my friend
Heather – how scary for you! But at least you knew the reason for dh’s fainting. Love the red on you
SuziQ – our place is in Titusville. We usually go down there for the month of Feb. Vince likes to go to the Daytona 500 and to me the condo is so very relaxing. North Carolina has a lot of “half backs” who bring their “new” driving “skills” with them <sigh>, so I hear ya about the FL drivers. I’m so sad to hear that Amtrak is eliminating the dining car. That was one thing I always looked forward to when on a train.
Iced the cupcakes for the gal at the Y, then iced the cake for Vince. I tried some different icing techniques.
Will probably go in the pool

heather - you look wonderful, enjoy your pre-birthday party.
Kelly - I love how you are able to handle Tim’s mood. I should take lessons from you.
Machka - you have had to take on so much since your husband’s accident and from the outside looking in it seems you have done it with nothing but grace and kindness. I hope he continues to improve and you get to get back to some of your old routines.
Allie - you have done so well in a year!
I don’t have a lot to say this morning, I’m still not feeling well and I’ve done nothing all weekend. Hopefully another day of rest will have me set up for the week ahead.
