Phantom1961, You have come to the right place. Having a supportive husband is great but it is not enough. This thread will allow you to share as much as you want and ask all the questions you want. There are women on this thread with struggles that are similar to yours and they can share how they deal with the things that you deal with. I spent four winters in Southern Minnesota and know a bit of what your winters are like. I live in NW WA where the weather is more mild but I've bought lots of cold weather gear so I can get outside a lot year round. I also have exercise DVDs and an exercise bike so I can be active indoors when I don't want to freeze off my face and fingers. I hope you will keep coming back.

Rode the recumbent bike. Since I’m still coughing, I didn’t do it as intensely as I usually do it. The plan for tomorrow is to take the extremepump class
How well I remember going out in the backyard of in-laws house and picking the oranges right off the tree and then making OJ. Can’t be beat
Barbara – nope, almost all of the hotels we stayed at didn’t have the Weather Channel. We FINALLY found it at the last hotel we stayed at, but the one we mainly stayed at didn’t have the Weather Channel. We were mega-disappointed
I’m not going bowling tomorrow but hope to get to the doctor’s. This cough is just a pain in the lower backside
The MD wanted me to take my bp at home. I’ve decided not to take it in the month of December because I know it’s going to be high. Vince likes to put things off to the last minute and that’s something that really bothers me. I know I’m going to be getting anxious (like every year) about all the prep that needs to be done.
After exercising went to WalMart to get things to make for dinner this week. Then had to run to Food Lion because WalMart doesn't carry the low sodium stuffing mix. And they wonder why there are so many problems (hypertension, etc)
Welcome, welcome, welcome everyone new

Well I weighed myself and I am 238.6 My wish for myself is to be below 200 lbs by next Christmas. I believe those 39 lbs can be burned off!! I have lost 14 lbs since moving to Whidbey island in 2018, so I know what I need to do.👍
Oh the other day I reached out to the lady that lives in my childhood home. She was the gal I had met when I walked up the road from my sister's house, when I visited her last June. I found her on Facebook, plus I had sent her a Christmas card with photos enclosed. I wanted her to have a photo of my grandfather, the carpenter of our house. I also sent photos of our family in the field before the house was there. I told her that I was nervous about seeing my childhood home. Nervous I would just cry, but the experience was amazing. I had such a grin on my face after, and I wanted her to know what a great job she did remodeling it. I was really happy to feel love back in the house. Previously it was owned by a construction company, as a place for workers to crash at. Most of the time it sat empty. It was like a ghost town when I walked around the property. This time it felt so happy, (if homes had emotions). I told her to return the original photos. I figured she could enlarge some, or do Photoshop to clean and focus some of them. If I never get them back, I won't be heartbroken. I have others of my grandfather.👍
I have started decorating! My husband groans, but I just don't listen!

Rita: I love this message, “Don’t wait for things to get better. Life will always be complicated. Learn to be happy right now, otherwise you’ll run out of time.” Thank you for sharing it.
Heather: Great pic of your son. He’s close in age to mine, who is also 43. My son will be 44 in July.

Katla - if anyone is interested in seeing/hearing my son he makes AIRSOFT ACTION TV videos on YouTube. Tom (Anvil) Hibberd.
Personally, I find all that stuff weird, but it keeps him sane.

For tomorrow, because I've just been watching a programme on Gauguin, my favourite piece of art has to be anything by Van Gogh, or Rothko. Very different from each other, but both give me that sense of hard won peace.

Heather: I found your son's airsoft action video. Great fun— Does he post new ones from time to time?1

🎄🤶 Gratitude for Christmas 🎅🏻🎄#1, 15 Nov: Scents: loved the smell of the roses I put into my Floral arrangement#17, 30 Nov, Knowledge: I'm grateful the self-knowledge I have gained on this health and fitness journey. Now all I have to do is apply it! 😂
#2, 16 Nov:Technology: Glad that I had my car and didn’t have to stand in the cold waiting for a bus
#3, 17 Nov: Colour: the colour of the beautiful sunset as I walked home in the late afternoon
#4, 18 Nov: Food: Fresh produce form my own garden ..... or ....... Chocolate! 🍫 My ultimate comfort food.
#5, 19 Nov: Sound: I'm grateful for the sound of DH moving about downstairs. It's very comforting.
#6, 20 Nov: In Nature: I love the view of the night sky from my bedroom window on clear nights.
#7, 21 Nov: Memory: This triggered a veritable avalanche of memories of my life, the happy moments crowding out the less pleasant ones. So... the memory I am most grateful for is my own selective memory, which chooses to focus on the positives, and reframe the negatives as learning experiences.
#8, 22 Nov: Book: "Unlimited Power" by Tony Robbins. This book was a revelation to me and showed me that I was in charge of my life. It was pretty scary at first to accept responsibility for all my actions and decisions. It was no longer possible for me to blame others or make excuses. But it was such a positive turning point in my life. I revisit it often.
#9, 23 Nov - Place: the place I am most grateful for is the quiet place in my head where I go when I meditate.
#10, 24 Nov - Taste: Today grandson had made an experimental mulled wine drizzle cake. I was grateful that it tasted so good, (not all of his experiments turn out so well 😂) Fortunately, I always hold calories for my Sunday visit, so was able to fully enjoy his delightful concoction (NB: lemon drizzle cake is one of my favourites)
#11, 25 Nov - Holiday: I love my annual week's family holiday on the West coast of Ireland with our DED and the grands. This year was our 24th year of these holidays. We started them with my DMiL when our granddaughter was just 8 months old. I am grateful that all 3 grands still want to come on these holidays with us.
#12, 25 Nov, Texture: I love the feel of fresh soft fluffy towels after my shower.
#13, 26 Nov, Abilities: I treasure my ability to be adaptable, and look for the positive in situations.
#14, 27 Nov, Sight: I appreciate the sight of my husband bringing my tea in bed each morning. It means I can take my time waking up.
#15, 28 Nov, Season: All the season's have their good points' but the spring is my favourite because it heralds the end of winter and the lengthening of daylight hours.
#16, 29 Nov: I'm grateful that bones are strong. I have been very fortunate in that I have never had a broken bone. Long may that continue.
#18, 1 Dec, Piece of Art: Not sure why but found this one difficult. Settled on this. It a fire screen that my Nana embroidered. It sat in front of the fire in her sitting room. I rescued it when my aunt was about to throw it away after redecorating her apartment after my uncle had been taken into residential care with Alzheimer's. It means more to me than all the fancy paintings in the world.

Finally feeling like I am winning battle against UTI. I hate the stupid things, but there are far worse things a person can have. I just have a hard time dealing with how much they wipe me out. So, while I got everything ready for Thanksgiving and Christmas stuff shipped and things I had to do, I did not do anything involving work during my week off until today. I will be putting in lots of hours this week, but since I have rested so much, perhaps I will be sharp!
Looks like everyone is settling into December. Hope those in the path of the storm are dealing with it well. We just have had some rain and wind, but nothing major.
Got eating back on track completely today after the Thanksgiving goodies. Weight actually was ok-while up a touch, still within maintenance range, just not as low as before. I think I should be back there in a week or so. Going to try to run a bit of a deficit between now and when I leave for visit with kids at Christmas. DIL is a wonderful cook and makes things I never do so I want to enjoy within reason. Plus, I will have to take the grandchildren for ice cream!
Have a good start to the week all.

I’m just getting back into the program again and now that I’m over 50 it’s a real struggle to feel like I see results.
We had 5 deaths back to back and I did some eating to cope with it.
I put on about 40 pounds and I still can’t believe I even did that.
I have been doing good for so long and now this.
I’m almost 5”8 so that helps a big but my food baby is my reminder of the sadness I was feeling.
I’m a counselor and that sometimes I’m sure caused me to eat some naughty things.
I worked out tonight so that’s a plus.
Also hard is I don’t really eat meat so I am always struggling with protein anc getting enough of it.
If I ate meat I know this would be easier.
Sending support out to everyone !
