12/19 - 146 (BF 33.4%, MM 62.8%) - After a lot of stress during work, I folded and ate a peanut butter blossom yesterday along with a few other goodies scattered around the office. I took tomorrow off work as my family is taking me to see "Christmas Vacation" with a live appearance from Chevy Chase for my birthday tomorrow and I also have to renew my driver's license. I'm going to fudge the number and put 140 lbs. and make that my goal for next year...for my weight to match my license. Last year when my weight went below my driver's license weight of 160 lbs. (and I had fudged that one!) I wanted to run down to the BMV and get a new one, but in Ohio, we only renew every 4 years.

Due to lack of access to my regular scale, my entries will be somewhat of a guess for the latter part of this round. I will be weighing later in the day and wearing different clothes. I will miss some days too I suppose. It will mess with my averages, but it is what it is. I will just put an asterisk next to the number. Once back in the routine there will be a big correction in 2020. And, I will hit 199 sometime in 2020!

Back for Round 99
Female / Age 62 / 5'2"
OW: 158.5 (12/30/18)
UG: 135.0 (for now, healthy weight for me)
Intro:Let me introduce myself. I struggled with my weight as a teen, topping out at nearly 200. I dropped it after high school and got to a healthy weight. Every major life changed has brought weight back on - having kids, pre-menopause, menopause, family tragedy, post menopause. I've knocked it back down each time, and have been surprised that each time required a different strategy, and resulted in a different type of lifestyle change to maintain. Each time as been much harder and slower. At this point, it's moving off at a snail's pace.
Motivation. I have a hyatial hernia. It does not bother me as long as I keep the weight at 150 or below. Every female on my mother's side has had arthritic knees, and I'm starting to feel twinges. They have also sustained falls and broken bones. My husband had a major health scare a coupe of years ago. The idea of being put out of commission by a preventable injury or illness scares the bejimminies out of me.
Goals. The goals at this stage are to drop weight to a healthy range, realign my eating style to a lifestyle that will keep me healthy into my golden years, and strengthen the muscles that support my knees, ankles, and shoulders, along with my core, to prevent injury.
Dropping weight post menopausal has been so difficult, I need this to be the last time. 10-15 pounds used to be easy to drop, so that was always my warning bell to focus. Not so much now. Looks like a 3-5 pound fluctuation will be it.
A healthy weight for me is 135-140. I've always looked anorexic at 120. We'll see how things are at 135, and go from there.

R98: SW 143.8 GW 142.8 EW 145.3 Results - 1.5 gain
Strategy: Up the hydrating foods. Fruit with breakfast. Salad/veggies as bulk of lunch. Healthy dinner. Limit/eliminate processed carbs and sugars. Zero calorie intake after 8pm. Strength exercises 3 days on/1 day rest. Regular movement through day to compensate for desk job.
R99 Challenges: My biggest challenge this round is setting a goal. I'd like to show below R98's SW of 143.8 to overcome the spike, but not sure that is realistic with the holiday looming on Day 7. Christmas dinner will be ham, and that will undoubtedly show up with a sodium bloat. Honestly, if I can hold steady, I will be happy. I guess the real goal is to continue to increase the amount of plant based hydration in my diet and get back to my workout schedule to gain as much ground as I can, then stay focused post-holiday.

12/19 263.2 No idea where this came from. I’m thinking that as tom has left so has some water weight. I’m sure I’ll bounce all over this round.

I want to take a hot minute here to first thank @GrandmaJackie, and to share some observations as I start my 5th round.
I participate in a couple of different challenges. By far, this one is the most insightful. I've spent a lot of time in those other challenges trying to figure out what was going on with my results. A daily scale capture and a few words about what is going on around that number here is invaluable.
I have saved a little index of my last post in each round, and I can go back and look for patterns.
We put a lot of emotional and physical focus, effort, and energy into this. Changing habits is hard work. Have to remember to live life, learn to cope with stressors, and deal with the unexpected. We are tracking numbers that are just a single marker, and tend to get wound up when they don't match the effort.
In doing that, we sometimes overlook the real successes and how much progress we are actually making - and, sometimes, what the ultimate goal is. Sure. There's a number involved. But there's usually some other motivation. How much progress towards that we are actually making is the true measure of success.
For me? I'm at a number below the weight that triggers my hyatial hernia. It's winter, it's cold and damp, and I have only had a couple of days that I needed Aleeve for my knees vs daily last year this time. I was edging towards high cholesterol last year. This year I'm back in a normal range. I have not yet been hit with a cold or upper respiratory infection. I feel better and have more energy. My ultimate goal may be represented by a number, but it is ultimately about being healthier, avoiding pain from thehyatial hernia, and increasing joint strength and flexibility to prevent injury (and recover better in the event of one). Yes. I'm down a size. But I am well on my way to the overall goals.
And, back to the point, when I get frustrated with my progress (or lack thereof), I can go back to my daily notes in these rounds and they reassure me that all is well.14 -

Day, Weight, Comment
12/19 - 153.4 - I'm not sure how accurate this is. I took off work today because for the second night in a row I was up with horrid coughing fits until the wee hours of the morning (3 am, I wake up for work at 5). I feel fine this morning but it seems once I've been upright then go to lay down, I'm done for. Not sure what's going on. I decided to take the day off after I started feeling feverish and I was throwing up from coughing so hard. Now all I feel is a sore nose and throat. Going to take it easy and rest today in hopes tonight is better. I'd be really surprised if this weight stuck since I know I'm dehydrated regardless of all attempts to keep liquids in. Have soups and soothing foods at home so I'll be focusing on those. Hello sodium (:
