As I mentioned before, school has caused me to have stress I thought I was prepared to take on food-wise but I was wrong. The past two weeks I have been finding myself making mistakes. What is fortunate is it hasn’t stalled my progress, but I know that’s not going to continue if I don’t get back on track and stay in track. I need to pack healthy snacks and keep them at the ready. I need to be ok eating more. I have broken into the 1,000 calorie threshold (those who remember I had the sleeve surgery also remember I usually eat around 6-800 calories). It has helped the dizzy and dehydration spells to eat more but my anxiety about weight loss is increased because I fear by eating more I will not lose the weight like I should. Anyway...I know I can do this. I just have to keep going. I have you wonderful ladies to remind me that we are human and both fallible and strong. We can do this.
Please don't be anxious about your weight! Your prior loss was crazy fast. But even at 1000 calories, you are way below most of us!! It's so much more important for you to feel healthy and strong while losing, just go at a slower pace. We believe in you!
My NSV will be to not look like I am squinting in pictures all the time. My eyes are naturally narrow and when I am heavy it looks like I am looking directly into the sun and they are more lopsided. Plus I have boxes of old clothes I have been saving for a decade and would like to get back into.7 -
@Aerohead21
My NSVs are:
1) Being to go up and down 4 flights of stairs every day‼️
2) Being out of plus sizes into misses sizes‼️ I’m between a 16 and an 18‼️10 -
@Aerohead21 , aw, shucks, thanks!
My recent NSV was that I got up to a 8 mile/minute pace the other day! Didn't stay there for too long, but I was there!9 -
What is an NSV??? I'm bad with internet lingo2
-
@Emilyestelle1
NSV is Non-Scale Victory- something other than your weight that makes you feel good about trying to lose weight.3 -
Yes!! Because the scale is evil and assesses all our body weight - not just fat loss. We can’t win with the scale.5
-
The running and stairs thing guys - 😱
How in the world!!! I’m so weak 😂4 -
@CupcakeCrusoe I am doing the same thing, trying to eat like I will at goal, or even at my goal which is a bit heavier than official goal. Trying to eat like someone who is that weight, includes treats. I don't mind if it takes a couple of years, less loose skin that way I'm hoping!
NSV would be being able to run 5km, as someone who could barely run for a bus before I'm impressed with myself. I did the couch to 5km program about 3 years ago, it was really hard at first but they take you through it. The first time I did it I thought my headphones had come out because a minute felt like forever!!! I'm super slow, it's more of a stumble than a run to be honest but I'm so pleased with myself!!6 -
Ohh Ok, I get it. My NSV: Just yesterday I had to buy a new pair of scrub pants for work because mine were so big that they were literally falling off of me. Add to that, I just feel better.
I don't really weigh myself that often, twice a month. I go more by my how my clothes fit and how I feel because even at my skinniest I was 130 or a bit more, which was considered bordering on overweight for my height. I was very muscular, something those charts that tell you how much you should weigh tend not to take into account.9 -
I wasn't expecting the people here to be so supportive, so I'm grateful to everyone who responded to my earlier comment. Thanks for taking the time to care.
I broke my toe last night (slammed it against a chair leg while pacing in my room, and now it's purple and swollen and taped to the toe next to it by the doctor), so I'm going to need to figure out a new way to exercise that doesn't require walking or standing for a while, just when I was making good progress with the fast walking. Any ideas? Ideally it would be vigorous enough to make me sweat.9 -
@snaileatsplants I would try (stationary bike) cycling. Doing it on a regular bike might not be great, as you'd be shocked how much that broken toe will affect your balance! But it's low impact cardio, and you don't have to run on that toe.6
-
My NSV: My resting heart rate is between 51 and 53, down from a high of 68 before I started losing weight.9
-
Thanks for all the responses and tips I have received from my first post!! I appreciate all of them! It also addressed an area I hadn't thought about before. Many times when I start a new diet or try to do a lifestyle change, I try to do too much too fast. I need to do one thing and make it a habit, then add another till I get to where i want to be!10

So, I think I solved the mystery of why I was so starving last week and gained 2 lbs with Friday's weigh in. I just started that lovely time of the month today - almost a week early. So that would explain everything!
I went to the dermatologist this morning. Both of my parents have had melanoma so I need to get annual skin exams. I had a spot removed from my belly button of all places. That combined with the bloating and cramps associated with this time of the month is making me pretty sore tonight.7 -
@orangequilt, great job running a 5k! That is amazing.
@Jenfromtheblock84, you're having some great progres! I'm happy switching it up worked for you.
@vegasgirl0825, awesome work hitting your January goal! Your April goal definitely seems doable.
@speyerj, yes, I am trying to keep a positive attitude. It's easy for me to beat myself up, but I made it to kickboxing today and had a great workout. Wow, what a difference in the HR. That's great.
@aliciap0116, thank you! I am feeling a bit better, I was being too hard on myself. I also do think I need to increase my protein. I am thinking of incorporating more nuts into my diet as snacks so I can get a little more protein that way. Also, my eyes do that as well, I wear glasses so I think it covers It up a bit. Hope you have a great week, too!
@sharpdust, I hope you get to feeling better soon. It is a weird feeling to mourn someone we don't know, but that is also the impact that person had on the world and you. Please let us know if there is a way we can support you, and take care of yourself, too.
@Aerohead21, you can do this! Eating a little more is worth feeling better and slowing down the weight loss. You'll get there.
@pamiede, sounds like you have a plan set up so you can meet your next goal! One day at a time. Also great NSV's!
@CupcakeCrusoe, great job sticking to your goals even though you were away. I also agree that it is important to be happy while you're losing weight! That is a fantastic mile time, I hope to get there one day.
@Emilyestelle1, that is a fantastic NSV, our clothes can really show a difference even when the scale isn't.
@snaileatsplants, hope the toe gets better soon! I second possibly a stationary bike?
@lizalus, that is exactly what I did, baby steps with adding things in so I didn't overwhelm myself.
@Tarzan37, Glad you figured it out! Hopefully some of the pain passes soon.
As for my NSV, I was able to increase in resistance bands in some of the workouts at my kickboxing class! I definitely felt the soreness after class, but I was so proud of myself for doing it.

So man posts, it's hard to keep up!
Found a scale and jumped on. *ouch*
Current weight is 240. Which is still 40lbs down from my start weight, but also 40lbs up from my best weight. Right in the middle. Hit the treadmill on Saturday and did day 1 of C25K. I'm telling myself that if I shovel the driveway and sidewalk, I won't have to run today! Compromise, right? That and there's a hecken lot of snow on our driveway right now. Logged everything but dinner, because I honestly forgot. Hard to get back into the logging mindset, but I'll get there. On nightshift for another two weeks, then it's six months of days.8 -

@Savannah80 NSV=Non Scale Victory1
-
@Tarzan37 thank you. It's not a term I've come across before.
In that case, I have been measuring myself each week, and although I didn't have a weight loss on the scale I did have a measurement change. I'd lost 1cm (about 1/3") off both my waist and hips this last week. Not a major thing, but a little change. In all I've lost 5cm (about 2") off my waist and 2.5cm (about and inch) off my hips in the last 3 weeks. I'd like to get my waist back down to 30", I have about 6" to go.9 -
I'm actually looking forward to tomorrow's official weigh in. I'm pretty close to having lose 1 stone (14 pounds) in the past 4 weeks, it's happened so much faster than I expected, I was hoping for 7 pounds. I've been under my calories every day, I've stayed away from sugary crapola, no binges, no alcohol and 10,000 steps most days. I've seen the benefit of upping my protein and I'm so positive at the moment and feel like I'm starting to enjoy life again. I read this thread every day along with anything new on the Success Stories and it's keeping me so motivated.
Love to you all.17
