Ok granted temps are in the 20’s so some icy patches. It’s going to be sunny and 40 today later.
Good thing it’s my rest day.
Hold up...hold on... did I read that correctly? You got two inches and work and school CLOSED?
Lucky... we get 8 inches in one night and the schools get a two hour delay, and work is NEVER cancelled..
Yes, yes you did read that correctly. The let out 3 hours early the day before to "beat the storm" and then closed the next day. This is quite the norm for here in the south lol.

2/3 1.6 miles C25K Week3Day3
2/17 2.23 miles C25K Week3Day3
2/19 2.54 miles C25K Week4Day1
2/21 2.34 miles C25K Week4Day2
2/24 1 mile...Baby is sick and DH texted that she was inconsolable, so ended early and returned home. I was exhausted from a hard night anyway. Is it better to stick to the run or rest after a sleepless night? Now I am home and baby is asleep next to me but I can’t fall asleep anyway...frustrating!
1. Run the month.
2. Loose 20 pounds in 2020.

Lots of likes and hugs to everyone!
Got in a 12 miler on Sat, and 4 easy on Sun. Was supposed to be 10 on Sat, but I grossly miscalculated my route (a closed trail detour didn't help) so decided to just go for it. I need the practice for those last 2-3 miles anyway for my HM. Conventional wisdom has most training plans peak you at 10-12 for the long run then you taper and go race your HM. I know I can finish a HM, doing it that way, but I want to finish well. The last 3 are always hard for me, so I feel like I need to put in the miles to get used to that mileage. Any thoughts?6 -

@hamsterwheel6 I feel like if you feel like you need those last miles, then you made the right call. I'm another one who can feel a big difference between 10 and 13 miles, my half marathon time is always better when I'm in the midst of training for a marathon (and regularly doing 10+ miles) than when I follow a specific half marathon training plan that peaks at 10.

Same here! In Texas when it snows everything shuts down. And for us 2 inches is a lot.2 -

So true! We live in hilly Centex and the mere threat of snow or ice will get schools shut down. My son on a snow day in 2014.....9 -

Makes sense to me. If I'm healthy, I like to go farther than HM distance. I don't want the race distance to be right at the limit of my abilities, especially if I plan to try to do more than just finish.
*Disclaimer: people whose goal is to complete their first half marathon should ignore my advice and stick to a good beginner plan... Then when it's time for your second half marathon, you'll know more what you're comfortable with and can make adjustments.6 -
@polskagirl01 @janejellyroll Thanks, good to know I'm not the only one and that I'm not way of base or hindering myself. I've run a HM and know I can, I just want to do better.
@kgirlhart @bearly63 Yep! That's exactly how it is here. Couple weeks ago we had a "heavy rain/wind" day off school. Yes, you heard that right as well.3 -

When I lived in Nashville a 1/2 an inch of snow shut the city down for 2 days. When I visited the mountains Vermont one winter, they had 6 foot of snow, and the roads were clear and safe. I guess it all just depends how ready they are for it.6 -
@shanaber I naturally have very, very fine, thin hair. MY WHOLE LIFE I wanted full bodied hair with curls. About a year ago, I realized I COULD have that hair - I'd just have to budget and pay for it. Normally, I am not this vain. Except for the times when I am.
So it's been about nine months since I last got it done and a few weeks ago when my hair started being lifeless again, I scheduled my appointment. So now, I again, finally have full-bodied, curly hair again. And I don't have to style it. I can just get up and go.6 -
@PastorVincent You're doing so well! Keep going!
As far as not having a plan - I am already thinking about what to sign up for after my marathon. I will have to recover and see how I'm feeling and then start scheduling races again.3 -

Yes! And having lived in Toronto, that's how it is as well. We just accept it here now. And stock up on bread and milk.
(I don't) (others do).

I have some trail races this spring & summer but all are less than 7 miles. I've been keeping my long runs around 6-8 miles
As @PastorVincent wrote: »Hey running friends that are a bit crazy, should I go do this run?
Thread: Like, duh, yes!
There. I answered for most people. I say go for it. Trail races are fun, even if you DNF.
and as @Avidkeo said "I'm surprised you are asking! Go, do, have fun!"
and start looking for some trail races with longer distances to stretch your distances.
Something that is starting to get bigger is the short distance (4-10km) multi-loop trail races where you get a time limit of 1 hour per loop and then do as many as you can, with 2-4 differant loops and reversing your direction on the 2nd time around a loop which makes it a completely differant experience than the original loop. Some have staggered start times ( 30 mins ) to spread the athletes out. A unique experience to be running on a trail and meeting an athlete heading the opposite direction doing the same loop but on a differant start cycle.brittanystebbins95 wrote: »Lucky... we get 8 inches in one night and the schools get a two hour delay, and work is NEVER cancelled..

Coupla things.
1. My hair lady says I can wash my hair tonight. Praise be!
2. We are at therapy and I can hear my daughter’s session. She had a rough day at school. For those of you who don’t know - she’s autistic and has Tourette’s and has all kinds of fun stuff that’s comorbid/ under the umbrella of the two big, primary diagnoses.
Well, they’re working on problem solving.
To Madison, the OBVIOUS solution, like duh, is to just replace the people that she had difficulty interacting with .....
Oh honey.... if only it were that easy .....6 -
Hey all. Been skimming while at work. Did 4k this am followed by some weight lifting. Hoping to do a longer run in the next few days, probably Thursday as I don't start work till 3pm.
Have to do 6k tomorrow to hit my goal for the month! Though there is a part of me that wants to do 5.9 to make a nice round number, I cannot stop at 0.9. 0.7 perhaps, but any thing over that, I have to keep going to hit the round km.
Just me, no, whew!

Look Ma! I ran and it wasn't on the weekend!! The streak is broken 🙄
6 miles. Weather was gorgeous...64F, although the wind was a sustained 20mph. But it felt good. Wad a little tired, but still good.15 -

I walked off jobs for just that reason, but yeah, that was not the best plan. Ended up homeless briefly. Probably should teach her better coping skills.

Hey, all! Just dropping in to say hi since it’s been a hot minute (or two) 👋🏻. I see you’re all still out there crushing it! I completed full number 13 at the Indy Monumental this past November at one of my slowest but also one of my most meaningful finishes ever. That season I had battled many issues related to my autoimmune disease (stomach issues, muscle issues, extreme fatigue, etc.), a cancer scare, and a bunion-related injury that caused me my first ever DNF in my “practice” marathon race 3 weeks before Indy. Crossing that finish line in one piece meant so much. My take away? Just keep showing up. Know your body’s limitations and train smart but also be relentless in the pursuit of what lights your fire.
I’m currently in the middle of half-marathon training. I have two halfs on back to back weekends later this spring. I have to say, I am currently enjoying some lower mileage compared to training for fulls. My body seems to need a bit of a break every few seasons and the pattern of two full training seasons followed by one half training season tends to work well. That means I’ll be back to full training in a few months and I will hopefully have my full race(s) nailed down by my half marathons. I’m going to put my name in the hat for Marine Corps and might try to find another full either in early September or mid/late November. If anybody has suggestions, let me know!12 -

@Camaramandy648 and @runsonespresso - I have had it where you couldn't send a message to someone who wasn't a connect MFP friend. But then I was able to send a message to @HonuNui one time and we weren't but I think that is the way it works now.
@juliet3455 - thanks! She was a friend of @rusgolden. All good!
@Scott6255 - Yay for breaking the weekend only streak!0 -

We are friends now and I just resent the message so hopefully, it works now.

Tonight's run group workout was short speed intervals. 60-90-30 second intervals with 90 seconds rest between x 3 sets. The weather was great, and a good group showed up. I decided I was going to show my coach that my running was not suffering from all my other activities, so I pushed pretty hard. It was probably my best effort in speedwork in months, so whether he meant it to be or not, I guess his "talk" with me the other day was pretty motivational. Garmin even told me I had new 1k, 1 mile and 5k PRs, which of course don't count for anything when you stop your watch during recoveries, but still - vindication! I'm still a runner!8 -
Dilemma.
Tomorrow is my day off BUT I have to go into work at 8am for some training. Should be done by 1030. I usually run before work but I'd really like the lay in. So could run at 11 once I've finished work, and go for a longer run - say about 10k. Before work I'd only manage 8k. But at 11am it's hot, I'd need sunscreen and all that. It's due to be overcast and around 20c (70f) atm
Would you do a shorter run before run and forfeit your layin, or run at 11 and risk the heat of the day?0 -

I’d go for sleep then a longer run. You’re from Northland - surely NP is miles cooler? And 20 degrees, that could be pleasant if there’s a breeze.1 -

I so rarely get to sleep I would always take sleep in when it was an option.2 -
