@OSUbuckeye906 What about the Air Force marathon? It's Sept 19th. I'm signed up for the the HM...which will be my first half.

That’s one to consider since it’s close (I’m in Columbus) but I did not have a good experience when I ran it in 2014. It was mostly because it was the most tired I have ever been for a race (so my fault) but the course wasn’t spectacularly exciting either. I remember thinking the course would be great for a half though, just kind of boring at the full mileage. I do want to go back and “get revenge” on this race at some point though.

Curious, who runs with partners, in groups, or solo?
A mixture of both. I run with a training group for my long runs, which are great because they are planned, paced, and supported with hydration along the route. I also run with partners/small group 1-3 times/week but I always make sure I have at least a run or two solo. It’s my “me” time and make sure I’m focusing on my own running goals.

I agree on the Air Force Marathon course... it isn't spectacular. Especially after leaving base, there just isn't much to it. Perhaps the HM is a better course because you still get the fun facts, Blue Mile, and the plane / helicopter flyover at the start and display at finish; but skip several of the junk miles. I liked the finisher hat, TBH.

Hey I won 3rd place in my age group in the Winter Off-road series after all! I thought I was tied for 3rd and the tie breaker is the longer race, in which the other woman was ahead of me, but I forgot about the bonus point for finishing all races in the series! She missed a race, so I have one more point! Yay I get an award!
    Congratulations!!

99.999999978% of the time I run alone.
    Me too.

@OSUbuckeye906 The AF Marathon was recommended to me by someone I know who has run at it before, but I think they did the HM. They really liked it. I was in the AF for 15 years and stationed at Wright Patterson twice, so I am looking forward to going back. They started having that marathon the year I retired from there, so I never got to see it.

@mbaker566 Doesn't sound like an ideal run, but the scenery was lovely.

@rheddmobile Yeah! Congratulations on your award!!! The race sounds like a hard one. I would not like slogging through the knee deep mud. Do you know if the poor kid found his shoes? Bless his heart! That deer looks like she's thinking, "What are those silly humans doing and why are they so slow?"

@kgirlhart Love that you had such a great run! I agree with your reasoning about running 4 miles.

@LoveyChar So glad your husband is so excited about running. It's great to have shared passions.

@shanaber So sorry to hear the Hobbes isn't feeling well. I hope he gets better and doesn't have to see the vet.

Treadmill run before mace class tonight. I was running late to the gym so didn't get as much as I planned in. I felt a little sore from last night's speedwork so it was slow.

Thanks for the input. I’ll check Fleet Feet. I went to a running store that was well known here years ago and got the completely wrong shoes. I do have custom orthotics so want to make sure I find the right ones not the ones they’re pushing. Run lab might be good to work on my form and get their opinion....trying to solve the hip flexor mystery.

Here's a question... What healthy recovery foods do you like?

Chocolate Milk (whole milk mind you) is my goto after a long or hard run.
