Ok granted temps are in the 20’s so some icy patches. It’s going to be sunny and 40 today later.
Good thing it’s my rest day.
Hold up...hold on... did I read that correctly? You got two inches and work and school CLOSED?
Lucky... we get 8 inches in one night and the schools get a two hour delay, and work is NEVER cancelled..
Yes, yes you did read that correctly. The let out 3 hours early the day before to "beat the storm" and then closed the next day. This is quite the norm for here in the south lol.

2/3 1.6 miles C25K Week3Day3
2/17 2.23 miles C25K Week3Day3
2/19 2.54 miles C25K Week4Day1
2/21 2.34 miles C25K Week4Day2
2/24 1 mile...Baby is sick and DH texted that she was inconsolable, so ended early and returned home. I was exhausted from a hard night anyway. Is it better to stick to the run or rest after a sleepless night? Now I am home and baby is asleep next to me but I can’t fall asleep anyway...frustrating!
1. Run the month.
2. Loose 20 pounds in 2020.

Lots of likes and hugs to everyone!
Got in a 12 miler on Sat, and 4 easy on Sun. Was supposed to be 10 on Sat, but I grossly miscalculated my route (a closed trail detour didn't help) so decided to just go for it. I need the practice for those last 2-3 miles anyway for my HM. Conventional wisdom has most training plans peak you at 10-12 for the long run then you taper and go race your HM. I know I can finish a HM, doing it that way, but I want to finish well. The last 3 are always hard for me, so I feel like I need to put in the miles to get used to that mileage. Any thoughts?6 -

@hamsterwheel6 I feel like if you feel like you need those last miles, then you made the right call. I'm another one who can feel a big difference between 10 and 13 miles, my half marathon time is always better when I'm in the midst of training for a marathon (and regularly doing 10+ miles) than when I follow a specific half marathon training plan that peaks at 10.

Same here! In Texas when it snows everything shuts down. And for us 2 inches is a lot.2 -

So true! We live in hilly Centex and the mere threat of snow or ice will get schools shut down. My son on a snow day in 2014.....9 -

Makes sense to me. If I'm healthy, I like to go farther than HM distance. I don't want the race distance to be right at the limit of my abilities, especially if I plan to try to do more than just finish.
*Disclaimer: people whose goal is to complete their first half marathon should ignore my advice and stick to a good beginner plan... Then when it's time for your second half marathon, you'll know more what you're comfortable with and can make adjustments.6 -
@polskagirl01 @janejellyroll Thanks, good to know I'm not the only one and that I'm not way of base or hindering myself. I've run a HM and know I can, I just want to do better.
@kgirlhart @bearly63 Yep! That's exactly how it is here. Couple weeks ago we had a "heavy rain/wind" day off school. Yes, you heard that right as well.3 -

When I lived in Nashville a 1/2 an inch of snow shut the city down for 2 days. When I visited the mountains Vermont one winter, they had 6 foot of snow, and the roads were clear and safe. I guess it all just depends how ready they are for it.6 -
@shanaber I naturally have very, very fine, thin hair. MY WHOLE LIFE I wanted full bodied hair with curls. About a year ago, I realized I COULD have that hair - I'd just have to budget and pay for it. Normally, I am not this vain. Except for the times when I am.
So it's been about nine months since I last got it done and a few weeks ago when my hair started being lifeless again, I scheduled my appointment. So now, I again, finally have full-bodied, curly hair again. And I don't have to style it. I can just get up and go.6 -
@PastorVincent You're doing so well! Keep going!
As far as not having a plan - I am already thinking about what to sign up for after my marathon. I will have to recover and see how I'm feeling and then start scheduling races again.3 -

Yes! And having lived in Toronto, that's how it is as well. We just accept it here now. And stock up on bread and milk.
(I don't) (others do).

I have some trail races this spring & summer but all are less than 7 miles. I've been keeping my long runs around 6-8 miles
As @PastorVincent wrote: »Hey running friends that are a bit crazy, should I go do this run?
Thread: Like, duh, yes!
There. I answered for most people. I say go for it. Trail races are fun, even if you DNF.
and as @Avidkeo said "I'm surprised you are asking! Go, do, have fun!"
and start looking for some trail races with longer distances to stretch your distances.
Something that is starting to get bigger is the short distance (4-10km) multi-loop trail races where you get a time limit of 1 hour per loop and then do as many as you can, with 2-4 differant loops and reversing your direction on the 2nd time around a loop which makes it a completely differant experience than the original loop. Some have staggered start times ( 30 mins ) to spread the athletes out. A unique experience to be running on a trail and meeting an athlete heading the opposite direction doing the same loop but on a differant start cycle.brittanystebbins95 wrote: »Lucky... we get 8 inches in one night and the schools get a two hour delay, and work is NEVER cancelled..

Coupla things.
1. My hair lady says I can wash my hair tonight. Praise be!
2. We are at therapy and I can hear my daughter’s session. She had a rough day at school. For those of you who don’t know - she’s autistic and has Tourette’s and has all kinds of fun stuff that’s comorbid/ under the umbrella of the two big, primary diagnoses.
Well, they’re working on problem solving.
To Madison, the OBVIOUS solution, like duh, is to just replace the people that she had difficulty interacting with .....
Oh honey.... if only it were that easy .....6 -
Hey all. Been skimming while at work. Did 4k this am followed by some weight lifting. Hoping to do a longer run in the next few days, probably Thursday as I don't start work till 3pm.
Have to do 6k tomorrow to hit my goal for the month! Though there is a part of me that wants to do 5.9 to make a nice round number, I cannot stop at 0.9. 0.7 perhaps, but any thing over that, I have to keep going to hit the round km.
Just me, no, whew!
