Great race @rheddmobile ! You'll beat that train next time! Love all of the wildlife you get to see. I'm allergic to honeysuckle, so I would have been sneezing my head off. I like the smell, but it doesn't like me.

@PastorVincent Cool black squirrel. Thanks for the reminder about the weather and how it affects us.

@mbaker566 That's so funny about the shoes. Hope it didn't throw you off too bad and hurt your back or knees. Looks like a great place to run. Sounds like Roody did great. He looks like a sweet heart. Speed Demon looks like he had fun too!

@PastorVincent Thanks for the PSA. Every year I'm like "Why am I slowing down?!?" before I remember . . . oh yeah, I'm working a lot harder in the heat and humidity.

heh, that is actually what reminded me to post it. I was looking at my pace for the last week and I was like "UGH! What happened?"

Finally got some shots of the black squirrel that has a nest in our yard. This one almost never shows its face when I have a camera ready. As it is these were shot through a closed window using my 300mm zoom lens.

They should call those things squirrel feeders as opposed to bird feeders. The only seed the birds can feed on is the ones the squirrels knock out of the feeder and onto the ground.

The deer were eating out of them till we moved them much higher LOL

Be thankful you don't have bears. When we lived in PA, we had to stop feeding about March. If we didn't, the bears would make a shambles of the feeders to get their free post hibernation meal.

I have not seen any bears since we left Virginia. Snakes, coons, rabbits, mountain lions, eagles, and the like... but no bears yet.

Hi all, missed a day and fell behind! I’ve read all the updates but too many to respond. Love reading about how different everyone’s running environments are. The most I see in the way of wildlife is the odd pigeon and (since lockdown) a fox or two. The idea of snakes and bears!!!

I missed yesterday’s run as I was exhausted after a terrible sleep and just felt really sad about everything. It’s like I was completely drained of energy. I felt better for the rest today and got out and did a steady 4 miles. Going to try and do a couple of slightly longer runs for the last two days of the month to round out at 115 maybe...

    April goal: 75 miles
    April total: 105.2 miles

    1/4: 3.6 miles
    2/4: 3.7 miles
    3/4: 3.5 miles
    4/4: 4.1 miles
    5/4: 3.5 miles
    6/4: 3.6 miles
    7/4: 3.5 miles
    8/4: 3.5 miles
    9/4: 3.5 miles
    10/4: 5 miles
    11/4: 4 miles
    12/4: 3.7 miles
    13/4: 3.6 miles
    14/4: 4.5 miles
    15/4: 6.2 miles
    18/4: 5.6 miles
    19/4: 5.1 miles
    20/4: 4.7 miles
    21/4: 3.8 miles
    22/4: 4 miles
    23/4: 3.8 miles
    24/4: 3.9 miles
    25/4: 6.6 miles
    26/4: 4 miles
    28/4: 4.2 miles

    February: 17.8 m
    January: 0

I've been known to scream when I see a bee. Encountering a mountain lion on a run would be too much!

Thank you all for your experiences, wisdom, and advice for my PF. Surgery (or any other type of doc visit) is pretty much a no-go for me. Don't have insurance that would cover any of that. Home remedies and doctor Google are my choices.

@scott6255 - I 2nd what has been said already abut PF. I tore mine a few years ago and the doctor actually told me that was a good thing as they typically heal faster than the strain. He gave me exercises for my foot (rolling a ball from my toes to my heel, scrunching a towel with my toes, etc. but one of the best things I found was the yoga toes pose. I still do it regularly.
It used to be on the Runners World site but now I can only find it here on Facebook

Thanks for the link. I have bookmarked it. I tried it, and can't get my knees to go to the ground (can only go about halfway). But it is def something to work on!

I have found that with something solid to hold onto (like a windowsill or bed frame) I can still get a good stretch without getting my knees to the ground.

@mbaker566 what great looking dogs! My labradoodle LOVES the water, she jumps into any she sees, ponds, streams, puddles, everything. I just laughed too hard about the shoes. I run into painted rocks from time to time. For a while there were a bunch with words on them at our greenway and they could be used to spell out all words of encouragement.

@PastorVincent Great advice on the weather stuff. Running here in 95 degrees with high humidity is a bear. My favorite thing to do is run then jump in Barton Springs - a natural spring fed pool that is about 69-70 degrees year round. Literally magical waters after a hot run.

@shanaber That is one of my least favorite yet most effective yoga moves! I need to add that to my daily routine.

Great run @kgirlhart and over your goal already! Whoot!

@Faebert Glad you got a better night's sleep and had a good run.

@MegaMooseEsq Glad you are back! Hope the PT works and you got in a good, dry walk.

Today's cross training was mowing the lawn before the rain sets in for the rest of the week. My big mower hasn't been fixed - I haven't taken it anywhere - so I had to push mow the entire thing again. I did what I call my yard and garden first, did the edging, and then took a break. Then I did the hard part - up and down the driveway. So, I had two Garmin sessions. It was funny when I looked at them that the I burned 224 calories doing the first part. The second part I burned 225 calories. Garmin says in 1:39:42 I walked 2.65 miles while mowing.

You’re luckier than me. Maybe it’s my mower, but my Garmin will give about 200 steps for 45 minutes on the mower - it should be about 2000.

@brittanystebbins95 I am sorry to hear about all of those stressors. I know that makes planning extremely difficult.
