Hello friends, @forestdweller1 ,I'm so sorry 😢 all I can say right now cuz I'm at a loss for words with all of this, I'm still absolutely stunned this is all happening, one of my friends sent me a letter thru messenger of a national guard paper saying that we'll go into lockdown and ALL stores will be closed??? That has to be a hoax? Damn I hope so, I'll really go bananas if I can't even run to the store or Taco Bell drive thru (yes my eating has been awful) anyhoo 6:39 am in Vegas another 24, everyone stay safe and sane out there💗5

Lots of sadness here, I'm sorry... This definitely is a difficult time. I think March was harder for me than what April will be, at least this is my hope. I had my last sips of wine on March 22nd and March 23rd was my deceased grandma's birthday so I just kind of picked that as a date to reset. I'm taking one day at a time, one month at a time. But I'd love to make it a whole year. I do not want to live an alcohol free life, not my goal. But I want something different at the moment, maybe an extended break from drinking. We'll see what happens...
On a happy note, I ran 8.2 miles yesterday. I do get addicted and I didn't want to stop. But I have kids and a husband and had to come back home. I'm going to run this weekend, a long hard completely exhausting run. For me right now this is the most freeing and liberating act I can do. When I'm out there, I can pound out my frustrations and anger and better figure out how to deal with life's problems.
I wish all of us a great month. Love yourself, whatever that means for you as an individual.10 -
@whitpauly I believe your friends letter to be a hoax. I have a really good friend in Vegas that has very high government connections and this has not been mentioned yet. I will let you know if I hear differently
@forestdweller1 - Prayers for your family. My daughter lives in 6 hours away in another state. She is a military medic and will be off maternity leave in about 4 weeks. She cannot get child care for the baby. I am trying to figure out how to sneak into the state to take care of my new grandson as they have no other support there. Scary times!!!
@loveychar - I registered for the Atlanta Peachtree Roadrace having faith and believing that this ordeal will be over by 07/04! I waited until 03/31 - the deadline day to register.5 -
As usual, I am going to try for 16-20 AF days for the month.
I had 18AF days for January
I had a surprising (and record setting for me) 21AF days for the short month of February!
18AF days for March

Good morning!
Here we are into April already.
@forestdweller1 that is so sad about your daughter and her husband, my heart goes out to them. What anguish. This is such a hard time.
@globalhiker I'm sorry you don't feel well today, and I admire your new goal of no more alcohol this month. I agree that there is little sense in having drinking days planned if we overdo it. That has been my problem as well. And the back to back news binge makes it feel worse I am sure. I'm trying to avoid the news.
@LoveyChar I am glad you have the freedom running brings! I am not a great runner but it is my exercise of choice lately, and as been for about 6 months. I inherited a treadmill from a friend who moved out of town and I wasn't sure about it, but now I love it. I prefer to run outdoors but I live in a very rainy/windy climate and have two little kids that sometimes prevent me from just dashing out the door. The tread allows me to just hop on it and get a quick run in whenever I need it.
So far in April I've not had any drinking days. My goal is at least 20 non-drinking days.
Apr 1: AF
So far in April: 1/1 days AF

@Beka3695 ...It's hard to believe that your medic daughter will not be able to find childcare within the large caring military family. Of course, nothing will replace a loving grandmother.
Your heart says "Go" but your head must say "No". The scarey part is unknowingly bringing the virus to your daughter's home.
Just found out that a local beer store will deliver NA beer to my home. My wine stash is still safe.
Grateful for
#1 food and beverage delivery services
#2 The OFF button on the TV remote to shut off the news.
#3 All the first responders & health care workers all over the world.
#4 Too many more to list....including you gals & guys9 -

She is on a large base, too. There is one on base daycare. She has been on that wait list since she became pregnant. They knew before I did 😝. She is on every other list out there, too. But most of the daycares are closed.
With her working in a military hospital, we are more afraid she will bring it home to us and not so much us bringing into her home. Luckily her hospital has no overnight beds, at least at the moment they don’t. But the serve as a massive walk-in clinic and pharmacy to a huge population of active military and retirees.
All we can do is pray, quarantine, and sanitize!!!!

My goal for April is 18 AF days. I only have hard alcohol in the house for mixed drinks. I’m going to a virtual happy hour on Saturday so may get some wine for that.

Felt like having wine tonight as I made dinner, but I hadn't gotten my workout in yet so I ignored the desire. When the instant pot was doing its thing, I hopped on the treadmill for a quick 20 min run. It felt good and also made the wine need disappear. After dinner I thought about it again, but life is busy with getting kids to bed. By the time that was all done, I am too tired. So I guess I just came here to revel in my accomplishment of another AF day. I just so happen to have had 6 of those in a row! I barely recognize myself, haha.
Apr 1: AF
Apr 2: AF
So far in April: 2/2 days AF

Sorry to be absent. Our internet was down. And of course no where to go link into somewhere else in town with nothing being open.
This is what I saw when I got into Myfitnesspal this morning-
Your Daily Summary • 800 DAY STREAK
Eight hundred days of alcohol awareness and accountability to this thread.
WOOT WOOT
So much catching up to do with everyone getting in here posting. Know that I have sat here and read them all and I am sending one big group hug for goals accomplished, new faces welcome and my heart going out to you my dear friends with sadness and struggles.
The rain and wind had ceased for the time being. Going to rock and roll with a jazzy workout in a bit.
That is my tiny goal today, to have a killer workout!

1 AF day done! Back with the living today. After hardly drinking 2 months, my system let me know it did not appreciate the alcohol from April 1st. It was mad at me for sure.
Getting ready for a morning run. Back to work on getting fitter, stronger, happier....8 -

I hope this is over by then! I'm so sorry about your daughters situation and yes I'd be tempted to go too🤔 6:55 am in Vegas another 24,hope everyone has a decent day 💗6 -
@Beka3695 You should be so proud of your daughter, as I am sure you are. If either one of mine ever decided to serve, I'd be bawling with pride. As far as the situation, I hope you find resolve soon. I truly think exceptions, such as in your case, should be made. Your role as mother and grandmother is crucial, especially now. When my oldest was born, her dad was deployed and my mom drove 12 hours to be there, made it in the knick of time for her birth. Now she's so close to her grandmother. She was actually on spring break in Florida when the *kitten* hit the fan and she's still there and will stay there safe with grandma. She's seventeen now. You could make it there, only stopping to get gas and take the baby or stay with the baby, but either way you should be granted an exception. Your daughter's job is crucial.
@shorepine I'm not a great runner either! If you want to see the speed of a turtle, you could watch me huff and puff my way through a run. But I love to do it! I have a running stroller and I know what you mean about getting out with a little one. I have an almost two-year-old. Yesterday was fantastic, though. He fell asleep when I was running and I got 6.4 miles in. Treadmill is nice, just good for you, good for all of us just to stay active. My daughter was running with me a couple of days ago and I was trying to explain to her how easy it is for depression to creep in if she doesn't get some exercise. I'm not a great motivational speaker, haha. I think it may have been over her head, okie dokie.
Have a wonderful day, everyone ❣️ Love to all of you.9 -
Had a bit of an epiphany last night. I realized that the days I feel lethargic and get nothing done are because I drank the night before, even if it was just one. Last night I didn’t drink, and today I’m bright eyed and bushy tailed! Getting stuff done! Yay me!
Also, started to correlate alcohol to having a bad boyfriend. I wouldn’t put up with a boyfriend who makes me feel lousy, lazy and down on myself, so why am I letting alcohol do the same? So, I’m calling alcohol “bad boyfriend” for now! Haha!10 -

Friday April 03 - AF because I have a webinar in the morning that I want to be sharp for. Planned wine with a friend for her birthday - yes, we will stay 2 metres apart and likely outside.
3AF days out of 3 days so far8 -
Day 2 AF done....so far so good.....ready for a good weekend. May do some online shopping to support the economy and treat myself5
-
@globalhiker I've been online shopping non-stop since this happened 😆 I'm jobless yet still want to buy clothes for some reason, bought a new phone (cuz I'm doing Postmates and instacart) figure if I'm gonna be using my phone to make money may as well splurge on a good one, then bought my g-sons a swingset for an early Easter present cuz they're cooped up even though they live across the street from a park, it's closed! They'll love it, 6:54 am in Vegas another 24, everyone have a happy day🌻7
-
One day at a time and if ever there is a time to be strong, the time is now. I'm going to try to make it an entire year with no alcohol. So far it's been almost two weeks but I'm doing fine. I am doing fine...
@whitpauly That's a sweet gift for the grandsons!8 -
So far a Friday and Saturday night without alcohol! That’s 3/4 AF days for me!
@whitpauly I hear ya! I want clothes even though I’m home all day, and even if I run to the store, I’m basically dressed to do spring cleaning (which is at least getting done).
@LoveyChar You’re doing fine!!!!8 -
Day 4
Everyone is doing very well with your check-ins. WOW @LoveyChar that is an impressive goal....one year. Does that mean you have alot f marathon training during that time?
@whitpauly you are doing awesome and back on your track. And agreed, the swing set is a wonderful gift for your Grandsons. I find I have lost my enthusiasm for cruising on Amazon one of my favorite things.
@Womona that is a great comparison.... the bad boyfriend to alcohol. Nice work, 3/4.
@globalhiker 👍
@dawnbgethealthy that is a fantastic start to your Apirl accountability 3 out of 3.
I had unplanned alcohol this weekend. More than my personal set daily drinks goal. Even though I did not get stupid or feel even the slightest bit fuzzy headed( thank goodness for the less expensive brands of prosecco) It let me know that I could have easily just kept pouring and drinking. Probably because I knew I could not get in the car to drive anywhere, to do anything with the new mandates set forth in our state since April 2. I wish that tiny convenience store WALKING distance from us would discontinue selling booze. Bad me 😕
New day today going to get back to drinking down my water.

Another 24 in the books!
34 days AF!8 -
Still at 2 AF days/4 days so far...darn. At least I drank moderately (for me) at 2.5 glasses.
Well today is a new day......and to look on the bright side of things, we are probably generating savings that will offset online shopping - driving less, no going out to restaurants, etc.

Good way to look at it 👍🏼 7:17 am in Vegas another 24,hope everyone has a nice day, I was feeling bluesy the other day and a guy came on the news and said name at least 3 things you're grateful for each day, I think that's a wonderful thing to do these days🌺8 -
I am happy to hear about everyone shopping online, because I have a small Amazon business : - )8

@Womona BB indeed! For me, a bottle of wine is just that--bad bad boyfriend (BBB). Sweaty droplets on the surface--looking so sweet in his finely sculpted bottle and latest cliche pickup line to hook me in. Whispers in my ear...teasing and smelling so earthy. "YOU picked me up, you know. I know you want me...ALL of me." I think I can go part of the way and enjoy him AND still preserve my dignity. But then my body takes over my mind and it's all over but the crying.
And in the morning he's gone--and I'm left feeling wrecked, remorseful, and yes, crying.11 -
