Angela from Alabama A good way to begin exercise is with walking. You can start small. I walk with headphones to listen to music or podcasts or audio books on my phone. That way I am entertained and distracted while I walk so the time passes quickly.
Here's the story of how I started walking as daily exercise. I was reading a professional magazine and feeling terribly inadequate compared to all the clever and gifted people who were writing about their work, then I saw a small paragraph from a woman who said she felt so much better since she began going for a walk every day after work. I went home from work that day, changed my shoes, hooked up my Walkman (yes, it was many years ago), and took a walk. I realized that I did feel better and I've been walking daily ever since.
I remember thinking during those early months of walking that it would be nice if there were some way to be able to hear the cellphone ringing in my pocket while I was walking and listening to my Walkman. Imagine my delight a few years later to have the opportunity to buy a Sony Walkman phone that was a phone and a music listening device all in one. I paid what was a fortune then for it, and it was one of the best things I ever bought. I put an 8G memory chip in the phone so I can have access to tons of music and podcasts. I've moved the memory chip to all my subsequent phones.
Michele, I think Costco is a lot like Sam's Club. We buy a select collection of products there because of the limited brand choice and package size but there are enough of them to make it worth it. We buy meat in large packages and separate it into meal size portions and freeze the portions using a Food Saver. They have the bread I like in double loaf bags and I freeze both loaves and take the bread out one or two slices at a time. Other things we buy there are dog food, kitty litter, paper products, and various supplements and OTC meds.
Penny, the bread looks fabulous and I bet it's delicious.
Kelly I'm so glad your business is continuing to work with your new family.
Heather, I am enjoying your virtual cruise. That's a great way to deal with the disappointment of missing the cruise.
Got a text from park management at 8PM last night that a black bear was sighted in the park and the authorities had been called. Fortunately, I have Bessie, the danger sensitive dog who wants to go back to the house at the smell of danger (like coyotes or bears) within a few blocks so we went out to the yard and midnight and ventured a bit farther at 5 AM safely. Now it's daylight so we can go farther.

Happy Friday ladies!
SuziQ - your back patio garden is so neat. And Taragon! You just reminded me I have or had a pot of it wintered over somewhere. Let's see if it made it. I use it in all poultry dishes and have put it lots of things. There's an annual Mexican tarragon I've grown before which is quite similar to the perennial plant.
I might spend some $$ at the nursery and get new little pots of rosemary, basil and tarragon if I can find them. I'm afraid I don't tend to them like I should. I vow to do better this year.
Margaret - how sad for your DH and your family. Condolences and hugs.
Angela in Alabama and other new gals, welcome. Right now we have some focus on the Covid-19 and how that is affecting our lives. When that calms down, you'll find we chat about the benefits of different type of exercise, Keto, Fasting, CICO, etc. So hopefully you'll find some tips to help.
The results of my great TP experiment.... Using a washcloth for #1 and TP for #2, the big roll of TP lasted 26 days. Versus 10 days for using TP for everything. For future reference!
Make it a good day!

Did an extreme cardio DVD. This one is a definite keeper. The plan for tomorrow is to do a Stott Pilates for Weight Loss DVD
Rebecca – is it your mission in life to make me drool?????? If it is, you are certainly succeeding with pictures of your meals
M – one of the things that I really don’t like is when there is carpeting in gyms. Oh, it looks nice. But it’s also a great place for bacteria to grow. Even if they put down those rubber mats under spin bikes and some of the equipment. But who am I? I just avoid that.
Made a baked ziti for dinner tonight. I’m probably going to have soup. Actually, I couldn’t find any ziti so we’re having another type of pasta. This is just me (probably from being raised by my grandparents) but I always put water in the jar to rinse it out and also use that sauce. I just don’t let Vince or Jess see me doing it. I still remember my grandmother putting the butter wrapper in the frying pan so that the last bit of butter would melt off and I remember her saying “we paid for that”.
On my walk home from Food Lion I found that this place that just was built put in a sidewalk along all their property. That’s good, I used to have to walk down and up this steep hill. Now I no longer have to do that
M – one thing that would be nice if it were to come out of this pandemic is if we weren’t as dependent on China for manufacture but bring jobs back to the US (or wherever)
Soup kitchen today which means a reason to put on makeup and earrings!
Angela – welcome! Congrats on the wonderful weight loss. To be honest, I find that once I get in the habit of exercising, I start to feel like I’m “missing” something if I don’t. Like I have to exercise first thing in the morning or else it doesn’t get done. I’m trying to take a walk after dinner now that it’s nicer, but things sometimes get in the way. Like yesterday, even tho it was a nice day, Vince wanted help with getting ready for his new TV and the day before we went to Lowe’s Hardware and got my border which we needed to put away. But I’m trying.
Took my yogurt out of the IP where it was draining. Depending when Colby goes back, I’ll probably give him some since I’ve noticed that he tends to like the plain yogurt
M – I was surprised to find out that Melbourne had the longest tram! Regarding the Consumers Distributing…what did you do if you needed to see the nutrition panel which many times is on the back of the item? Some people need to watch certain things (like sodium)

The Astronauts landed safely!! Russian y Americans on board. First the shock of masks on everyone recovering them then filled in about quarantines to how the world has changed was a shock to them. They even said this isolation will be harder than space on them it sounds like. Weak bodies so longer isolation with strict rules to keep them safe y treat them.
I can only imagine such shock they were not updated because no one wanted to worry them.
The 10year plan was to tighten our belts we have No new furniture 🪑 just what we had before the marriage of needed a new mattress (I was rough on ours pregnancy on left side only left a dent) y new appliances that we will keep for decades now (my old fridge was no longer keeping milk cool well baby bottles couldn’t be stored in a hot fridge both were unplanned exspenses). Put every dime towards IRS payments y to pay off home to Buisness. Get out of debt have a few renter homes to have money rolling in so hubby can do smaller Construction jobs. Have JR doing well in school we would fix the foundation on the home we’re in now then pay that off. This virus is definitely not on the plans.

@alabastermama welcome and congratulations. I like movement (and miss it with confinement), i love walking, but i'm sure you will find some kindred spirits in some way here. today i was pottering cleaning the kitchen. i wore a heart monitor and saw my heartbeat went up some when i was scrubbing.
@lisainAR cookie incentive! awesome results. wise purchase, the elliptical! ha ha footstool elliptical.
@machka9 that's worlds apart from the situation here. i think the first week or so we could go out only 2km but with no limit of hours so i always went for a long walk to and around a sizable city park. the 1k 1h really puts a wrench in things. i think our may11 1st step deconfinement will consist mainly of not limiting time out nor distnance opening bookshops that want to open, children's clothing stores and a few other odd bits. masks were discouraged here to start but has the virus increased it's definitely more and more encouraged (with president saying it may become obligatory at some time in the future when they have masks).2 -
Hi all! Had a lovely long chat with a girlfriend of mine from when we used to live in London. They were at their holiday home in Cornwall, where I have stayed many times, when the lockdown started. So they are happily stuck there in beautiful countryside. Her three children are all in very exposed situations, one in Ethiopia, others in the NHS. She is missing the grandchildren like me, but is making the most of Zoom.
I love thinking about what I would have been doing on the cruise. I can almost feel that I am there. I have a very vivid imagination.
My friend recommended a tv series for me, The A Word. Two series to watch. I've just watched the first programme while I rowed. It's about a child being diagnosed with autism. DH'S daughter was diagnosed for the first time at age 47. It was a great relief to her to know why she had always felt different to others and why she found some things in life so difficult. She also has special dispensation at her job, like more working from home and ability to have breaks from sensory overload. She is much happier now.
Snack time! Love Heather UK xxxxxxxx3 -

Consumers Distributing wasn't a grocery store, it was sort of like a department store.
Now, we can go to a Big W or Kmart site, for example, and place an order and have it delivered ... or we can actually go to the store and wander around and look at everything.
If these two large Australia department stores were to adopt a Consumers Distributing style, we'd go online like we do now and select our items like we do now, and we could have them delivered ... or we could go to the warehouse front and pick them up like we used to do at Consumers Distributing.
Big W: https://www.bigw.com.au/
Kmart: https://www.kmart.com.au/
This is an image of a page of one of the Consumers Distributing catalogues in, I'm guessing, the early 1980s perhaps.
And a cover ...
Regarding looking at nutrition panels, grocery stores would operate the way Woolworths and Coles do now.
We go to the Woolworths site: https://www.woolworths.com.au/
Click Pantry (for example), Breakfasts and Spreads, Breakfast Cereals and select, let's say NutriGrain:
NutriGrain:
https://www.woolworths.com.au/shop/productdetails/209030/kellogg-s-nutri-grain-protein-breakfast-cereal
Then select the image that shows the side panel or just scroll down to the Ingredients and Nutrition Information.
This is something I do about once every 10 days because I get my groceries delivered.
But if Woolworths were to adopt a Consumers Distributing model, I could either get my groceries delivered or I could pick them up from a warehouse front. There would be no store to go in and wander around.

Angela, welcome! Please stick around and comment often. My thoughts on exercise: I second Barbie’s suggestion to start with walking. In my opinion, movement is way more important than exercise. Anything to keep you flexible. I used to be bad to go for a nice, long walk in the morning then sit fir the rest of the day. Now I try to move some every hour with a longer concentration maybe once or twice a day. I used to hate weight training. My physical therapist told me I would change my mind if I would stick with it long enough to see results. She was right! I still have bad knees, but squats, calf raises, and deadlifts have made them more flexible. Picking something up off the floor is no longer a major event!
Machka, polio is the only other event in my lifetime that even comes close to what we are experiencing now. I remember classmates coming down with it, two neighbohood children who died, and many in my age group left with a debilitating mobility issues. I also remember when the vaccine was finally approved. We all lined up at my elementary school to get our sugar cube with the vaccine. Many received the smallpox vaccine in the arm at the same time. I still have my smallpox scar. But even with all that, school and work continued.
Condolences to those who need them, hugs to those struggling with depression and hopelessness, and cheers to those who are staying successful to the goal of healthy living.

I shy away from group threads, too, for the same reasons you do.
Let's take a poll.
How many women in this group tend to shy away from group threads, and why?
I'm pretty sure you found the right group of women to be supportive. There are women here who have maintained their weights and fitness for years, and women who are struggling with it. Some women are at or near their goal weights, some are not, and there are a couple who have to be careful not to lose too much. Some who have had bariatric surgery. Most are frank about it, and there is very little judgement here. It's because we are true friends. We welcome newcomers with open arms. It won't take long until you are "one of the gals". I tended to hang back at first because I wanted to tread lightly because I didn't want to intrude on this close-knit group, but it was not necessary. I hope you plunge right in. We're right here.
As far as exercising, my recommendation for starting out is…don't "exercise"! Just do stuff that's fun or do 10 minute projects that involve being up and about. Start by puttering around the house finding little projects to do like cleaning out a drawer or making a nice meal. Anything that involves getting up and moving around. Go for a little walk, not for exercise, just for the sheer joy of it and because it's interesting to see what's out there. Or because the dog would like to walk. Or if you have a cat like Machka and Rori, because your cat wants to go for a walk. Put music on and shake your stuff. Because it's fun…and before you know it, you'll look forward to being more active. You can add weights or kettlebells or yoga, or machines, etc., later, as you feel more motivated.
Welcome aboard.

alabastermama wrote: »Hello everyone! I’m new to this thread. I’ve read some of the posts and I’m glad to see that I’m not the only one that’s struggling. I usually shy away from participating in group discussions or conversations because sometimes I feel that everyone else is always doing so much better. I’m 54 years old (55 in June) and I have battled my weight off and on for the last 30 years. Now with my children grown, the COVID-19 crisis, and stay-at-home orders in my state, I’m determined to lose weight he right way. Almost 2 months into my journey, I’ve managed to lose 13 pounds just from cutting calories alone. I home I’m not the only one who feels this way when I say “I ABSOLUTELY HATE EXERCISE OF ANY KIND”. I know this is the next step in my journey, as I’ve already plateaued.
Is there anyone here who feels the same way? If so what are some things that you’ve done, or doing to help you do it anyway? I’m 5’4, 266lbs and I have a long way to go. Help! I want to be motivated.

Welcome Angela.
I was/still somewhat am with and in and out relationship with exercise. When I started my journey (September 2019) I had been a couch potato for almost three years.
I started small. I would step in place while I folded the laundry or doing dishes. When doing laundry I would put away one type of clothing at a time (washer and dryer are downstairs). So I would take the socks up first, put them away, then dress pants, etc. I would also step in place while I was fast forwarding during commercials. I found easing in to it worked well for me and I am now walking on a regular basis and fitting in some yoga. The important thing is to find something you like to do - garden if that is what you like, turn on the music and dance.....For those of us who dislike the word have to find fun things we enjoy and incorporate them in to our daily lives.4 -

Angela in Alabama ...Welcome! Every weight loss/exercise idea is represented in this group. It's definitely not one size fits all here. Having said that, I hate formal exercise! Which is not the same as movement. Furloughed from my job (as a housekeeper at a church) and cooped up in the house ... living in an area where it isn't safe to walk on the street, nor has the weather been cooperating ... I've discovered NOT moving is getting to me. But traditional, gym-based exercise. Yuck! Personal trainers. Yuck! Cardio. Yuck! So how am I losing weight (and still have a lot to go) and maintaining mobility? I follow an "eating window/fasting" regimen, take short 10 minute walks on my treadmill and use a kettle bell. It's been a process to figure out what works best for me. You will find your happy place with all of this too!
Bananas ... Son's graduation requirements.I believe the academic pieces are complete for son to graduate but he still needs a second internship which he has not "officially" completed (and which they only told him about recently), he has to undergo a juried guitar proficiency exam (and why the school is hung up on this I don't know), he needs to perform an additional Christian-based service project (he's already participated in several), and a senior ensemble performance (again, why is this a problem given Zoom?). If there are other things, I'm not aware of them. The only one I see as being problematic is the "internship" and frankly that could be a blessing ... let the school find him one and hope that it results in contacts/work for the future. I'm trying to remember that this is not my problem although it does affect me.
Today we are going to support local business and order delivery for dinner. I'm leaving it up to the guys to figure out. I have yogurt going in the instant pot. A grocery order is scheduled for the weekend. That pretty much sums up my life right now.

Machka: Verts make the world go around. My mother was shy. I would describe her as an introvert. I’m an only child and not a social butterfly. I have some very dear friends from my teaching years, and don’t get to see them often enough in normal times, let alone in this time of world-wide health concerns. The internet is a blessing that allows us to stay in touch even when we are far apart geographically.
Terri: I love the face mask tutorial. Thank you for sharing!
Margaret: You are right that it is important to appreciate every day. I am so sorry for your loss. :flowerforyou:
Rebecca: Thanksgiving Dinner is a brilliant idea.
Penny: Happy 65th Birthday to your DH.
Karen in VA: Congrats on your new job offer!!! :flowerforyou:
Angela in Alabama: Welcome!
Lisa: Congrats on your grant from United Way. Girl Scouts are such a positive group. They do wonders for my granddaughter. Thank you on her behalf among many others.
Michele: Our governor ordered athletic clubs closed. I’m riding my recumbent tryke in the garage and walking in the neighborhood. :flowerforyou:
Machka: My mother took me to the lunch counter at Woolworths as a mother-daughter treat when I was growing up. Kresses was another company that had a lunch counter, and so did Meier & Frank back then. Meier & Frank is now Macy’s & I haven’t seen a lunch counter there since the name change. :noway:
We lost our Daughter in Law’s mom to cancer after a very long and hard-fought battle with the disease. She will be missed by her many friends and her family. K was a beautiful and brilliant woman. She lived in Kentucky, a state with the highest cancer death rates in the nation at 181.6. West Virginia is listed at 179.5 and Oklahoma at 178.1. I looked it up on CDC.gov. I gather that something underneath the famous bluegrass in Kentucky is not healthy for humans.

Welcome Angela!! I used to think exercise was for stupid people and now I'm hooked. It gradually got a hold on me. Very gradually. Be patient with yourself.
I've talked to another friend today in Wales and also my lovely brother. He is, of course, doing good works. Unfortunately, when he went out street pastoring there was no one on the street.
They are delivering food and medicines.
Talking to more people than I have in years.

Thanks for the congrats, everyone!
Yesterday was an emotional roller coaster. All of us independent telemedicine contractors got an email that was one step shy of a Dear John letter.
Basically, "You've done such a good job getting us back down to less than 5 minute wait times that we don't need all of you any more, so we're going to disable the "ad hoc" button…sooooo, if you don't have any scheduled shifts because your plan was to do only ad hoc shifts (that would be me), then you're SOL. BUT, we look forward to working with you again in the fall for flu season. Of course, stay tuned, because we don't know for sure what C-19 will bring and we might need you sooner."
I started crying, bitterly disappointed. I immediately replied to the email from the Owner/Chief Medical Officer in San Francisco, and cc'd the company Medical Director, who I knew had been monitoring my charts, and thanked them for the opportunity to work for them the last 2 weeks, that I felt as if I had found my calling in Telemedicine, and that I would like to be considered if any employed positions open up in the future. In about 10 minutes, my phone was ringing, an 'unknown caller' from California, and lo and behold it was Dr. Yuan offering me an employed position. It was surreal. Then in about an hour, I got a 'heads-up' email from one of the support staff telling me to go onto the scheduling module because they had just posted some scheduled shifts that I might want.
Seriously.
I am so humbled by this. My goal is to exceed their expectations. They have taken a leap of faith by offering an employed position to the equivalent of a seasonal worker with 2 weeks' experience.
I am bursting with emotion and am grateful you all are there to absorb the bubbling over I'm doing here.
Never in a million years would I have imagined starting a brand new career at this age (65). The position doesn't start until November, but I will be able to request some shifts between now and then…maybe not quite enough, but I haven't cut ties with my brick & mortar employer yet, so if I have to, I can work during July & August to fill in for vacationers, etc. I will not be scheduled at all for the month of May at the brick and mortar urgent care employer. April 26th is last scheduled shift there.

Hi I'm new to this group. I am guessing this topic has come up at some point but wanted to ask if anyone else is currently dealing with a major plateau in weight loss? I have lost about 15 pounds and have arrived at an old set point. I've been stuck here for 7 weeks! Anyone else have similar stories about this and breaking through? Thanks!6

Today's meal is one of my mega muffins, then making a small bowl of soup. Putting in fresh spinach at the bottom of my ramen bowl. Warming up 3 cups of broth, about 4 oz of cubed chicken, and either some wild rice or leftover baby potatoes, don't know yet, maybe both! Then maybe some cheese sprinkled on top. Closing my window is some red grapefruit segments.👍
That's the plan and I am stickin to it!

Will keep looking for an opportunity to share some positive news.
Got a late start weeding and after 2 hrs it got too hot. Then I learned it was SNOWING in both Iowa and Colorado. Send it here, please, we are in serious drought.
Julie are there restrictions on when and/or where you can walk outside? Never thought about the impact cloth masks have on the hearing impaired. Is the clear section plastic or some ultra fine/light fabric? Yes, please rest so you can get completely well. A relapse could turn into an emergency.
Lisa “cranky …. Did not enlighten her” Cranky grantor deserved what she didn’t get. BTW that wasn’t gentle bribery, that was an investment that helped prime the pump Surely with the carrot of more $$ the CFO will leap for your brilliant solution!
Pip your new normal is astounding. Well done! At first I thought that pic of your shoe was a sssnake!!!
Barbie the gal who made my mask, later made “smiles” to attach, since I am no seamstress, I used two sided tape. What SuziQ and Karen VA said about smiling with our eyes. Sometimes a little nod can help call attention to the masked smile too. Thank you for the origin of your walking story, I’d forgotten or never heard. Bear in your park? Oh my. We think it's one of last years twins that’s hit our garbage, despite hornet spray, even bear spray, every day the past week. We’ll try ammonia soaked rags strapped to the top today. Good for Bessie. Unfortunately our dogs are not so smart.
Machka Brave Rhody! Huntsman spider? [shudder] . Vaccines. I remember trying to hide behind a door in kindergarten to avoid getting the polio “shot” . . . and rejoicing when they switched to sugar cubes. for the clueless back to work girl. :noway: Likewise for your group not listening when you tried to explain about the inadequate sections. It would madden me to tears too! Thank you for finding the good in C-19, hope your uni is slow to change back to pre-virus methods. The introvert cartoons made my morning. Thank you! People feel compelled to touch your long hair? That would creep me out too! “putting people back to work by building infrastructure” Yes this. So much needed. Not just for society but for the working individual’s sense of worth/purpose. From your mouth… For more of the post-virus future, time for me to re-read the Naked Sun for its insights into a socially distanced populace. Self-cleaning public toilets, do they really work? Porta Potties are an abomination and with the rest areas closed, the homeless here have little choice but to commit public health indecencies. In addition to “Hoop skirts” how about very wide brimmed hats… with veils “We’ve got a moat…” hahahahaha! I’m confident our new normal will be different (think of air travel before and after 911), just a little less optimistic than you about the potentials.
Allie sometimes “Little House” is just the medicine the Dr. ordered. ((hugs))
SuziQ “connecting, however the method… Yes this! Thank Goodness for all you mfp gals, zoom dancing and zoom happy hours with my friends. Your garden pictures delighted my eyes. Thank you!
Beth “tasty weeds” You are braver than I, when a few unfamiliar greens show up in my bag I discard them. Happy to eat known mustard, beet, pak choi etc leaves, but …
Lanette “wet washcloth”s and “duct tape” Ditto about the library. Back in Boise the Russian tarragon overwintered and even became invasive… Here on the coast the rosemary, thyme and even sage made it through the winter tho leggy. Parsley died out, is it a biennial? 26 days? A worthwhile experiment!
Lanette and Katla Thanks for the Speed Queen encouragement. Does it make a lot of noise when the load unbalances? This is Joe’s biggest gripe, he is much more sensitive to irritating sounds than I am. Note to self, remember this when you’re tempted to whine
Amber what your DH’s ex did to him, and you and jr is horrible. Glad you have a tax expert. Sad he hasn’t been able to negotiate any forgiveness for you from the IRS, for what indeed was not your fault. Really sad to hear your mortgage company won’t work with you and that you haven’t been able to get an SBA loan. It just doesn’t seem right. Wish you had an advocate. Bravo to your DH for being a good worker, determined and resourceful.((hugs)) “flat brownies?” Call them “very expensive special brownie thins” Brava for making do. Maybe Katla can teach you how to capture some local yeast from the air to build your own sourdough starter for making things rise. Shocked and saddened to see how far racism is making a resurgence in China https://www.nbcnews.com/news/nbcblk/mcdonald-s-apologizes-after-restaurant-china-bans-black-people-n1184616
Expect elsewhere too.
Heather love hearing about your singing exercises and song sessions. Really love hearing about your teacher ringing up the students who don’t have internet. Brilliant.
Rebecca thanks for the recommendations, they sound so good! Don’t have NetFlix but will look for them on Amazon Prime and from the library (when it reopens.) Apple, yam, Kodiak muffins sound and look yummy!
Rita Brava! One determined step at a time. Then a little time to breathe and thank yourself for persevering. Sharon’s suggestion of a Zoom group, is there a photo club near you that’s switched to Zoom meetings?
Margaret so sorry for your husband’s loss, and yours. This pandemic makes it even harder to be far from family.
Michele “meat loaf” from dog food, a new one. I’ve heard of folks eating “cat tuna” but that was when pet food was less expensive… “…don’t think I’ll buy any more spaghettios” Yes! Time for a little reality dose, imho, but then I’ve never had children :} A friend gave me one of these for tomatoes, you can sometimes find them in thrift stores. Bet your grandma also used the butter wrappers to grease cookie sheets and baking pans. Mama did too and so do I. Use the jar rinsings too. If they don’t have a strong stomach they should stay out of the kitchen, or bring their own food. (Grump) As for not being so dependent on imports, I agree, but that will mean everything will cost so very much more, we’ll have to really shift our spending priorities.
Barbie, do you ride your exercycle while watching TV with Jake? Joe likes me to sit with him and watch TV, but I’ve been sitting way too much. Thinking about the trainer Machka suggested, but if it makes noise, that won’t work.
Sue in WA was the “ or have her” cut off?
Sharon how mean of LBJ!
Happy Birthday to Penny’s husband who I love for his views on girls’ education, his love for polar research not so much…
Penny you make my mind reel, the sun goes down before it comes up? Only one sun? Eyes rolling up into the spinning rotating brain. “Oldsters balm” love it! That’s the artemesia scent I like. Tarragon/absinthe not so much (Sorry SuziQ.)
KJ good to see you!
Karen in VA are you sure you didn’t photoshop those grapes? Where’s that gal’s grape peeler? Does your switch to employed vs contracted come with benefits? This is the only group thread in which I participate. Your emotional rollercoaster story gave me the shivers, at first of fear then of joy. Thanks be!
Kay thanks for the reminder of the benefits of squats etc to knees. Get UP Barbara and JDI!
Katla condolences for the loss of “K” to her family. Looked at the CDC cancer mortality by state, what IS it with that red ribbon down from the Great Lakes to the Gulf?
Welcome @MauiCinnamon ! Plateau advice I’ve heard: recheck weighing your food, log faithfully every bite, lick or sip, change up your activity, add strength training or intermittent high intensity, have ONE splurge day where you go way over CICO. But most of all, never ever EVER give up!
Welcome @alabastermama ! Angela I am a lifelong exercise loather. First I had to purge the word “exercise” from my brain and consciously change the thought to “activity”. Then I had to look look look at my life and see what activities I enjoyed, were fun, whether or not I was “good” at them. Walking, hiking, dancing, swimming, playing hopscotch, jumping rope, playing in the dirt, these are all fun for me. At 70 yo, 40 lbs over and 20 years smoke free after smoking for 3 decades, hiking up hills and jumping rope are out… for now. Alas, we moved to an area with no senior heated swim center so no more Aqua Zumba. Playing hopscotch is just too silly, not to mention hard on these ol’ knees. BUT I can stroll, walk with Joe and the dogs, zoom dance remotely with our dance class, and play in the dirt. Oops, that reminds me, time to get out there and pull some more weeds before it gets too hot. You’ll find this a judgement free zone with many wise, compassionate women at all different stages of the “get healthy” journey. And when we need it, there's always pip's boot  Welcome!
And to all those who said they don’t like spiders in the bedroom I say Amen! Need Sean Connery to jump up out of bed and wham it with his slipper: bam, bam, BAM!
Lighter, lovelies!

After getting on the scale this morning, I have to curb my emotional eating by getting back to struck keto and not buy what I call junk food! I think this kind of eating is contributing to my depression. There are a few other residents here but we are all social distancing because we are all high risk. Lots to do here, I did good yesterday, but not so much today.
