Rebecca does this look like Langley on Whidbey?
I didn't mark it for location.
It does! My favorite ramen place is in Langley! Its called "Ultra House" and its amazing!😁2 -
I took Michaela to some yard sales today, we only went to three but she hit the jackpot on the second one. On the drive there she had been asking me for a Barbie camper. I told her that it was not part of my budget for a “just because” gift it would need to be a Christmas/birthday present. We get to the yard sale and lo and behold they have a Barbie camper that has a radio and working lights for 10.00!
Pip - it’s an Airstream!

I took two flour tortillas, firmed them up with a bit of olive oil, in the oven. Then I sauteed a bit of red sweet onions and kielbasa sausage cut up. Next I combined some diced tomatoes and my favorite dressing ( Annie's shiitake mushroom dressing). I put on tomatoes, sausage, and some havarti cheese & olives. Back in the oven to melt the cheese. It was delightful!💖

Hi Gals,
Terri – loved the gas man song…
Rita – I took your challenge and wrote a story, there are many authors in this group and I am not one of them, so please be nice! LOL
Tuesday is Amelia Earhart Worldwide Day and to celebrate it, Police day in Poland and Cousin’s Day worldwide my friend (who I met at virtual love day ) are going to lunch. Then next week we plan on eating at In&Out for Drive through Day, then having a lot of Tequila in honor of USA’s Tequila Day as we committed to go to a BDSM Worldwide Day celebration and I am not comfortable with that celebration but the Tequila should help.
Sue – I am so glad you and your family is all on the mend.
So the big news here is that my God-son who has been on a “gap-year” between his bachelors and Masters - the gap YEAR has lasted 5 years - finally decided to start applying to get his masters I think mostly to shut me and the parents up, and much to his surprise he got accepted and starts in mid-august in Miami Florida, he’s getting his masters in marine biology. So from the letter to the start of class just under 5 weeks.. And he will drive across country to really more like 4 weeks. I’ll see him tomorrow and that will be it for 18 months. I have had him in my circle and I will miss him. I am also a bit scared about Miami as the covid cases are much higher than where he lives. And as a young adult I am not sure he takes it as seriously as he should. But I want him to fly - he’s a gifted student, but a bit afraid of not having everything just perfect. So I am delighted he is doing this.

It was interesting how OCD I felt when cleaning. I definitely have a method for my madness. If stuff isn't done the way I want it done, I redo it. It was the first major cleaning since we moved in. Like cleaning from the window wells to the ceiling lights. I deligated some tasks, which son did.👍
Yes, my letter writing, its as much fun decorating the envelopes and paper, making the sticker bags, as the letter itself. The whole process is relaxing to me. I usually spend and hour a day with ear buds in writing happily. I tell my pen pals, I think of my letters to you as two people chatting, each with coffee in hand. My one friend said, can I drink diet coke? Silly, of course you can.😁

Barbara, it isn't so much that I will have to clean again, its the fact that when I clean I can't just surface clean, its turning the couches over, vacuuming everywhere cleaning. I sometimes take all the small things out of the room to the next room. Then brush all the dust from the sideboard inward, then vacuum. My mom used to have me wipe all the rubber kitchen sideboards with "liquid Gold" because she said it reflected and made the tile cleaner looking. And that's where I get my weirdness from!😁

Great idea, Barbie! Thank you.
I'm 54 years old. lost 67 pounds over the last 2 years using My Fitness Pal. Then I hit a plateau starting in January. Then during the lock down, I baked and put back on 27 pounds. I'm back at the weight loss now, with the help of a weight loss clinic and My Fitness Pal and Fitbit, sticking with a 1,500 calorie diet and a goal of 7,500+ steps a day. It took a bit of time on the lower calories for my body to adjust and stop holding fluid. This week I started losing again with a loss of 2.4 pounds in a week. I'm ready to keep going. My goal is 1 pound per week average. SW 343 pounds. GW 185 pounds. I'm going to do this!!!3 -
I'm 58, happy to be 58, age doesnt phase me as I think its just a weird counting system. I have children in their thirties, but I feel inside that I am still in my thirties, and they are still children.... but grown up. Its all very confusing.
I'm English and love England, love the UK as a whole.
I am trying so hard not to give in at the moment as my mental health is having a bit of a wobble.
I love reading all the chat.

The hot tub has a little button she can push to make bubbles. The radio has a scan button so gets local radio stations and the speakers are above the window in the fronts. I’m pretty impressed with it for the price.

SueBDew-so sorry you have been dealing with COVID. Hope recovery doesn’t take long and no long lasting after effects.
Beth near Buffalo-I agree with you-the arrangement received does not look like what you ordered.
Camping—never been much of a fan. Like walking and hiking, but Holiday Inn Express is my idea of roughing it (years ago it was Motel 6!)
Carol in GA-I only have a VPN so I can access work/state computer system while working from home. Not sure why I would get one on my Mac . . . Machka will probably have some ideas.
Dill Pickle chips are awesome.
Tracey-excellent deal on the camper. Barbie stuff is so expensive.
Decided I want to use my 30% coupon at Kohls but did not want to go into store. I can go in and out of Kroger or Lowes fairly quickly, but I know if I go into Kohls I would end up spending lots of time looking at everything. Picked up a couple of things I need (sheets, my favorite bra on sale, a couple of extra t-shirts and did the store pick up. I am glad I did it that way. While not packed, based on the parking lot there were quite a few people shopping there and in Marshalls, I can literally spend a couple of hours in each of those, The pick up worked well, got Kohls cash so will probably spend it in the same manner.
Most of the day I spent figuring out having new curtain rods. Wasn't confident about having rod over window frame, so tried one just attaching where old one was on frame. Don't like the way it hangs there (can see part of top of frame). Spent time trying to figure out where studs are. Stud finders are next to useless. Called my older brother. He talked me through what I was thinking (has to be studs around the window). He said, just to be safe, go to Lowes, get these anchors (and with him the anchors he is telling me will hold darn near anything_. Since I only go to Lowes early in the morning, I decided to drill small hole where I thought stud would be-and sure enough it is there. However, by this time it is supper time, so I decided I would wait. In morning I will go to Lowes, pick up a few of the anchors to have on hand, and proceed with my method. If I don't find stud for each end and the center, I will have anchors. And of course, there are four other windows to be done. Feeling fairly confident now-I just have to think things through.
Well, since I have been up since 5, it is time to head off to bed.
Take care all,
Ginny in Ohio

Beth – I agree, the flowers your mother received are pretty but I would be disappointed, too.
Katla – I don’t remember Amber saying that she was sick, but maybe I missed it. I thought she said something about RJ being sick, tho. Update: Okie – thanks for reminding us about Amber
Kim – so happy for your godson
Rebecca – Vince always says that he’d get me a maid only if I absolutely needed one because he knows me and I’d clean before she came because I didn’t want her to see a mess and then I’d clean after she left because she didn’t do it my (the correct) way!
Sara UK until the day he died, I was my father’s “little girl”
Pip – Kim’s right, you DEFINITELY need a Barbie airstream!!!

Snowflake1968 wrote: »Camping - I enjoy getting out of the city and into the country because I’m a country girl at heart but I won’t do tents anymore. Last week we used our daughters pop up trailer and it was quite comfortable.
Me too ... I love being out in the country and I like camping. But I've been less and less keen on tents as the years go by. I'm just not that comfortable lying on the ground.Snowflake1968 wrote: »Allie - My Mom colours a lot as well, she uses markers, pencil crayons and wax crayons. I've actually been rather disappointed in the colouring book selection. I went looking a couple years ago with the idea that I'd send my older niece and nephew some more mature colouring books. I had heard about the adult colouring thing and figured I'd be able to find something with landscapes, animals, etc. at a young adult level. And if I found some interesting ones, I thought I might get some for me too!
But all I could find were colouring books for little children ... or these geometric pattern things for adults. Nothing in between.
Maybe it's just here, but it seems to me there's a big gap that could be filled in the colouring book world.

Yes ... for security for work and university.
I don't go to "questionable" sites where I would feel I might need it otherwise. In fact, my internet usage is probably quite boring!

Evie 1958: I already mentioned that I love Vancouver Island. On our last trip we tied up in Brentwood Bay. We were on our boat & travelling with friends who were on their boat. We had a lovely dinner at a pub near the docks. The next day we took the bus to Victoria. I've always thought of Victoria BC as the Magic Kingdom. It was a grand adventure. We have always enjoyed the many places on Vancouver Island we've visited. I would go again if DH was well enough, but that is not a possibility at this time. :ohwell:
Viv: I haven’t seen a post from Amber in quite a while. The last one I remember was worrisome. It seemed that she had become sick and I worry it may have been Covid 19. I hope and pray I am wrong about that.

I have never tried dill pickle chips but LOVE dill pickles. I will have to try them- I will put that on my list when I hit my goal.
When I go to Canada, I usually have one bag of dill pickle potato chips because we can't get them here and they are my favourites.
But the last time (2017), I couldn't finish the bag ... I hadn't eaten potato chips of any sort in so long that I found them way too salty.

Machka - if you ever want have a few free minutes and want a chuckle search adult colouring books on Amazon. I was shocked and way too amused by it.2
-
Tracey - That was some amazing bargain you picked up!
Beth - They are nice, but no way worth that kind of money. They would be half that price over here. Try ringing or emailing. It never hurts to complain.
Rebecca - I'm a bit like you. Once I start cleaning I have to do it properly. That's another reason I have a cleaner. Her standards are different to mine, but my house looks presentable. She only has two hours every two weeks! I hate the way she moves things though! I am very OCD about the placement of objects and hate them out of position. I think she wants me to know she's been there and cleaned!
As a child I was severely OCD to a debilitating level, and a little of that has stayed with me. It's not a problem now, but occasionally I notice it.
I was touched yesterday that the cleaner turned up with her own, much superior, hoover, in order, she said, to get into the edges. I didn't see her when she finished so I will text her to thank her for taking the extra care.
The sun is shining this morning. I don't know if the family stuck it out yesterday in the tent. It was HORRIBLE weather! They often switch their phones off when relaxing, so I didn't enquire.
I used to camp out all the time with my parents as a teenager. Mostly in Europe. When I was first married we also camped. And a couple of times when my kids were young. Purely through tight finances, not from choice. My honeymoon was camping for a month! It often rained and rained and rained. And rained. Nothing is more miserable.
I spent my young years envying like crazy the 'posh' people in the nice hotels.
Caravans are a big step up and it amuses me that you Americans call it camping. No way! Nor are shacks camping. Nothing with a roof and a toilet is camping.
The only tents I have been in since are the mega luxury kind with their own toilets and showers, a huge, gorgeous bed and a nice young man to bring you tea and biscuits in the morning. Kenya, and Rajasthan in India.
These days both DH and I have to go to the loo three or four times a night. The thought of zipping myself out of a sleeping bag and a soggy wet tent is not appealing. No way. Even a dry tent. You need a very strong bladder for camping.
Time for tea!

My husband and I are feeling a little bit sad.
I've packed up my work stuff in preparation to go back to the office this week.
It's been such a happy, relaxed, delightful, fantastic 4 months ... now that's coming to an end.
But maybe there will be a second wave and we'll be sent home again.
I'm not taking back as much as I brought home ... just the essentials. If I have to move home again, I'll be ready to go in a matter of minutes!!

Camping - My parents weren't campers. My best friends parents were so I often went with them. Usually my friend and I slept in a tent and the parents in a small camper on the back of the truck (no toilet or shower, but a bed and a small cooktop). My hub and I used to go tent camping at the lake with our bffs. We all had air mattresses that we slept on. We haven't been camping in years. I agree that camping is now a motel vs a tent
