margaret - ((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))) some times people are so self centered they are clueless/mean and don't understand. That is never an excuse.

Faye “too cold for too long” exactly! Southern Oregon coast’s weather is ideal for us, but the 3+ hour drive inland for medical services… not so much ;{ Does your post mean today is your 70th birthday? If so, felicitations!
    SuziQ Outdoor orchids
Allie I’m relieved you decided to stay. Thought the lack of yard for Alfie would be a problem in the winter. Please please listen to Lanette and Okie’s advice. Now might be the time to start having self-employment and income tax withheld to avoid trouble later. Don't give Jean another chance to hurt you.
    Rita  that poncho. Wow!
Katla did you ever read any of the Comte St. Germain vampire novels by Chelsea Quinn Yarbro?
Heather In the midst of life, shocking reminder. ((hugs))
Kay con VERY gratulations on 49th anniversary. Well done!
    Lisa “Pop ‘em”
Rebecca what Happy Birthday news for your Chief! is Athena modeling her French period? She looks so baby Bardot!
Tracey what are “puck lights”? “ ISO . . . personal trainer”
Welcome @amymh41, hope to see you next month.
Lanette “…had some news about the ole workplace .... I am super glad to be retired.” Amen, sister AMEN!
Pip Yogi’s pup treats look yummy to me! Hope that isn’t a raisin I see tho’, they can be toxic to our dogs.
Margaret my heart goes out to you. Brava for your simple, truthful “No. Now is not a good time to come.” Perhaps in the spring when your wounds have scarred over a bit, you can have a calm, honest conversation with him about how he hurt you. . . if he’ll listen. ((hugs))

Meant to just clear away dead naked lady foliage, ended up digging up the bulbs. They’ve never bloomed, perhaps because they were totally shaded by a rhodie? Before I start digging holes elswere to transplant, can anyone tell me what light and/or amendments they need in order to bloom? Did get the species fuschia I bought TWO years ago into the ground at last. Pics tomorrow.

    Lighter, lovelies!

Allie: I think you’ve made some good choices. I’m sorry about the loss of your friend in Florida. :flowerforyou:

(((Margaret))): I think going to your son’s church with donations was exceptional. You are an admirable woman. I agree with Snowflake. I am sorry that your brother is causing you to hurt.

Top o' the morning to y'all. The storms have passed through and we are having a few settled days. Life has acquired a new rhythm and currently, all is well in my life. The day is full of opportunities.

Margaret: (((hugs))) What a lovely way to honour your son's memory with your close family. So sorry that your brother is being insensitive. I have zero expectations of my brother and he seldom disappoints me. SnL rules the roost, and he is welcome to her. We exchange Christmas cards. I send him birthday greetings but nadah from him.
    Rebecca: 😍Athena!
Rita: 💖 The poncho. Colours are fab!

    I celebrate your achievements 🎉🎊🎉🎊🎉🎊
(((Hugs))) to those who are in pain or feeling sorrow 💕💖💕

Thank you for allowing me to share a small part of your lives. I appreciate it immensely.
Looking forward to sharing September with you.

Aren't there restrictions on being with people where you are? Especially if you're a carer of an elderly person.

Allie - you seem peaceful about your decision, which makes me glad, and I'm so sorry about your friend.

Margaret - I'm so sorry your brother is being clueless and awful. Like Terri, I expect nothing of any of my living brothers, and that's pretty much what I get. I'm glad you were able to honor your son's birthday, and donations to his church are a wonderful thing, as well.

Machka - loved your meme - the one I read this morning said, "It’s 2020 and we’re all likely in a computer simulation run by a sadistic toddler."

Carol - the fact that you put the mask back on your nose when you see people is much more than most of these people that I'm talking about do. Perhaps one of the mask inserts that someone was talking about yesterday, to keep them off your nose and mouth, would help? My husband's nose completely plugs the moment he puts on a mask as well, including the paper masks.

Thunder bumbling outside and the rain just set in - supposed to rain for another four hours. Don't think I'll be working outside today unless I want to slop around in the mud.

    Goals accomplishment for August.
    My goals for August were:
    👍Survive without getting cooties.
    So far so good!
    👍Stay within budget.
Moved to a monthly budget for August, and went $8 over. Pretty pleased with that performance.
👍Be lighter going out than I am going in.
On August 1, I was at 208, August 31, I was at 194. Pleased with that.
Goals for September will be in tomorrow's thread, but basically:

🚪 Continue to survive the pandemic.
    💲 Stay within budget.
⚖ Be lighter going out than I am going in.

If I don't stop in later (I probably will), I'll see you in the September thread!

    Love,

Machka- i take care of Jeans mom,and Jean has taken every weekend this whole summer to go up north to either the beach house or lake house.she works in a hospital as a cytotechnologist .and the beach house is big and we do hang out but distance ourselves..
Labor day weekend was big back in the day as it was my grandmother and my brothers birthday and we used to have big family parties, this would only be my nephew and his girlfriend,my brother Jean and maybe Shanes 1/2 brother
I would like an answer from Jean why she knows i want to spend time with family and she rips that out from under me ,because she can.. just sad...

Barbara Not my birthday until Nov. After I turned 69 I have said I am on my 70th trip around the sun. It is confusing like the year 1999 was in the 20th century and the year 2000 is in the 21st century. Yes, the long drive is what discouraged me a few years ago and also no friends there and I only drive on back roads and low traffic areas.

Margaret I never had a brother but my best friend had to cut off relations with both her brothers for the same kind of actions as you speak. I don't understand how siblings can treat each other with disrespect.

    PIP Love the photo!

M in Oz That is about it for 2020. A wrongs B so C burns down D's house. E lives in fear wondering what the F is next.

I only have one brother, and no other siblings
Jean had one brother that passed away leaving 2 very young children, the other is real bad news to smart for his own good and has used and abused the family to where they have a restraining order against him..
Jean is the oldest as am I, but I dont treat people the way she does thats for sure..
Im over at Toms getting Homer to take up with me..he basically just chills out and sleeps while he is up there.

Allie - Sorry, I missed something. Are you banned from going to the house where the rest of the family will be? Why aren’t you going to be with family for Labor Day weekend if it’s safe and that’s what you want to do?

Margaret - I have 2 brothers, and like other women here, I have no expectations of them. If one of them wanted to visit when he wasn’t welcome, I would make it a very clear “no", because neither of them would get it if I hinted.

Karen I agree I also sent message to his wife I think she might get it. If not I will move on and fill my life with those who are more sensitive.
