I swear I posted last night but I must have hit done instead of post. 🤦🏼♀️
I am not going to pick a mileage goal this month. Instead I'm going to focus on my challenges and virtual races.

2. Maybe also do Every Damn Street in my HOA or zip code (9/1 to 12/31)
3. Womxn Run the Vote (9/21 to 9/27)
4. Run One trail (9/14 to 9/20)
5. Finally get around to virtual Hot as Hell quarter marathon trail race
6. Scooby Doo 10k
7. 26.2 miles for @PastorVincent over the week
8. Jangover virtual trail race (9/21 to 9/27) distance undecided (7k, 15k, or 25k)
That should get me some miles in lol8 -

Foggy and upper 60s F. Never run well after an off day, and today was no exception. Think I was tired from running my "Virtual Boston with Vincent" in my head last night before I fell asleep.
Welcome to all the new runners!!!
And congratulations to @brittanystebbins95 and Finnegan!!! Great to have you with us.
When you pop in here claiming your December 2020 mileage, what accomplishments will you have made?
Return to a good running weight of 175 lbs
Run at least 4 5k races
Get a 5k PR
Average at least 138k per month, to meet my Run the Year pledge of 1,020 miles
Stretch goal: If I can average 169k per month, I can run 2020k in 2020
Run the Year Team: Pavement Pounders
2020 races:
9-8 to 9-13 "Virtual Boston with Vincent" Time goal 5:15:008 -
Had a post all typed up, hit the wrong button, and a new tab opened, losing everything. I hate it when that happens! I don't have time to redo it right now. Will try after I get home from work tonight.
I did get out this morning for my first run of the month...a tempo run. Today was much better than Sunday's slog fest, even though the temp was 72°F with 94% humidity. My tempo pace was about 1:10 faster than my slow pace, so I was pleased I managed that. Ran 3 miles and walked 1.
Just realized I haven't set a goal for the month yet. Last month I managed to run a little over 69 miles and walk 18...highest monthly total ever. If I follow my plan, I should run around 87 this month...but, I never follow the plan exactly. So, I am going to set my goal to be 70 miles of running and 20 walking (at over 3.5 mph pace).
1/20 walking

My post suddenly showed back up. YEAH!
@WandaVaughn Happy Anniversary and congratulations on 32 years. My mom and dad's anniversary is Friday. They will be married 64 years. Gatlinburg is practically in my back yard - well, an hour or so away. I hope the weather is nice and you enjoy your vacation there. The bears usually aren't aggressive, as long as you don't get between the momma and her cubs. Then all bets are off. Just be watchful and you should be okay.
Welcome @_runnerbean_ !
@ContraryMaryMary Hopefully your coach will have some words of wisdom. I'm hoping it was just a really bad day of running. We all have those.
Sounds good to me @rheddmobile . Thanks for taking the lead on the Boston Marathon challenge for @PastorVincent .
Oh my Gosh @brittanystebbins95 ! He is soooo cute! Congratulations. He is a big boy and you worked hard getting him safely into this world. You were so good about listening to your body when you were pregnant, so I have no doubt you will do the same now and will be back to running as quickly as possible.
@eleanorhawkins Hang in there. The times are rough on us stress eaters right now.
@Faebert That's a lot of running. You are doing great.
@RunsOnEspresso I think you will get plenty of miles concentrating on all of those challenges and races.

9/1 – 7.01 miles
Goal – 130 miles
It was still dark when I headed out this morning. I live in a rural area with no street lights and few houses. I used my handheld light one day last week. I also have a headlamp but haven’t quite found my groove with using it. I usually wear a hat when I use it and then the bill of the hat gets in the way of the beam of light. If I don’t wear a hat with it, the light doesn’t stay in place and slides down my forehead. Anyone have any tips? This morning, I remembered I had bought a hat a few years ago at an expo with lights built in. I dug it out and it worked great. It was foggy and humid this morning so I was a sweaty mess. I hand-washed the hat – hope it still works!
@ContraryMaryMary – I hope you were just having an “off” day. You have been pushing yourself hard I think it is to be expected.
@rheddmobile – I’ve never used challenge hound but am good with us tracking the @PastorVincent marathon challenge there. Thank you for taking the lead on organizing us!
@brittanystebbins95 – I am so in love with Finnegan! Congratulations!

I have an LED light that clips to the bill of your hat. It has 3 bright white LEDs and it works really well. I don't know where I got it (found it after my son moved out, so I think it was actually his). It is made by Energizer. It's not super bright, but it works pretty well. Here it is at Walmart2 -
September 1 - 5.5 miles
Total Space Race miles: 85.21
@quilteryoyo I'll wave to you while we're up there! I hope to avoid the local news in stories about bears.
@skippygirlsmom I get dyslexic with numbers sometimes. Thanks for the catch. (and never expect me to memorize phone numbers, lol)4 -
@WandaVaughn I'll try to wave back. I'm sure you will be fine with the bears. We rarely hear of any major issues with them. Just don't leave any food out. They do know how to open coolers and break into cars. I have slight dyslexia too, so totally understand about mixed up numbers and letters.1

Over 100 posts behind between various groups. I have skimmed. Thank God for you @shanaber or I'd never even know what month we are in!
@PastorVincent's wife responded to me Friday night - she is incredibly grateful for all of us. We have exchanged a few messages and she seems to be such a strong woman - so filled with hope. My therapist said he thinks it is probably very meaningful that we are all making ourselves available to her. Communicating with her has helped me feel less broken, I think. Like maybe there is still some ground beneath my feet. I don't know....
I was able to be "present" at @pastorvincent's funeral and it was beautiful. My heart was so heavy, so broken. I grossly underestimated how that would affect my desire to do the ultra. I did do it though! On Sunday, the results showed that I got 3rd in gender for the whole 113K, but yesterday, i was 6th! That's still a move up in pace and it is still top 10! I know Vincent would have wanted me to run it anyway and I am so glad I did. I was on cloud 9!
Sunday I ran the 27K. So. Freaking. Exhausted. And. So. Hungry. Yesterday. I have not done what I did last time - binge eat everything in sight. I've kept to a more disciplined diet while still trying to eat intuitively. Meaning. I'm not eating Reese's cups but I AM allowing myself to have sugar when I crave sugar. Fruit, though. Or tailwind recovery, which has a sweet taste. The next challenge is in September and it is 172k with the longest distance being 72k. It will be the longest run I've ever done. I am excited.
As for the Virtual Boston for Vincent - count me in! As well as the random act of kindness. Just let me know when!9 -

I found pumpkin donuts at the store today. When eaten as part of a running nutritional plan, they are calorie-free.8 -

Just bought a chest and back light as I find the head torch distracting. Not had chance to try it yet but I will let you know.
Excellent running @Camaramandy648 and congratulations on more great distances!! Your determination is SO impressive!3 -
Hello all! I'm going to join you this month. I'm doing my first virtual race -- 100 miles between today and 10/27, so about 50 miles this month. Glad to be here!10

Welcome, @annshandle ! What you will find here is the most support and love in any group, ever. You got this!
@Tramboman Okay so... As I was showering... (I know, this is weird).... I was ACTUALLY thinking and trying to remind myself to find out if vegan, gluten free, pumpkin spice doughnuts exist. I really need to find out. This is so important to me.
@TheMrWobbly Thank you so much! I really, truly, truly, do owe it all to @pastorvincent's friendship and mentorship and to the support I have gained from all of you. I don't say thank you enough. I love you all so much and I am grateful that we still have each other. We have to stick together! Was thinking we should all be following each other on other social media platforms because if Vincent and I weren't friends outside of here we wouldn't have known what happened to him....
I always get a lot of anxiety when someone dies. I feel the uncontrollable desire to have a handle on every detail and try to make sure every single thing is working right, etc. I guess that's why the push to make everybody friends on fb and insta. If you die I'd like to at least send flowers.... Wow! I have SUCH propensity to go DARK!
Lord, help me.
Oh, I never mentioned - I never remember what my goal was for the month but in August I had 215 point something miles! New PR! Two consecutive months of 200+ miles! September will kick my but and I can't wait.9 -

Thanks Scott - I'm going to look for one of those!0 -
@Camaramandy648 – Congratulations on another long-distance challenge completed AND finishing in 6th place! Yippee!!
Welcome @annshandle!
@TheMrWobbly – Please let us know about the chest and back light when you have a chance to try it. I’ve heard of people using their headlamps as waist lamps but I haven’t tried that yet.

September Goal: 100 Miles
9/1: 6.22 miles
6.22/100 miles completed for September
951.45/1000 miles for Run the Year Team Pavement Pounders
I ran 6.22 miles this morning, so started September with a 10K. I want to say it was a great run. But when you get up at 5:00 am and the weather app says it is 84°F feels like 92°F and the humidity is 74% and the dew point is 74° you know that it is just going to be a run you will have to get through. I suppose I was glad that the predicted thunderstorms weren't here yet. Living in Texas you kind of get used to heat, but this morning it was truly awful. Overall the run was ok. I tried to just take it slow and not stress about pace or anything. So it was an ok run, but the weather was NOT pleasant at all. No hints that fall is right around the corner. I was glad to get the run done though. There are thunderstorms in the forecast for the next couple of days, so I'll have to play it by ear.
@Scott6255 Looks like we had the same weather this morning. I think I'm an hour or so west of you. Hopefully we'll get some relief from the heat soon.
@Camaramandy648 I'm not sure what type of diet you eat (are you vegan or gluten free?)or if you are trying to lose or maintain, but you do need to remember that with all the running you are doing you need to be fueling all that activity. I actually eat a Reese's "big cup" almost every single day. My favorite Reese is the Easter eggs, pumpkins, hearts and trees, but those are seasonal so when they aren't available I get the "big cups". I'm not saying eat nothing but candy, but as much as you run you definitely need fuel and if you are hungry don't just ignore that.
2020 races:
11/7/20: Run for 57th AHC Half Marathon6 -
@Scott6255 I have also been thinking about a lamp ... it's getting darker sooner and I don't plan on quitting running so it's going to be necessary. Kogolla makes an AWESOME lamp that goes around the waste but it's like $200. If lamps are like shoes (you get what you pay for - mostly) then I may save up for one. Or get a cheap one... I can't stand the idea of something on my head when I run. Cringe.
@Teresa502 Thank you so much! It's been an adventure for sure! Aravaipa is also putting on a marathon next month for breast cancer awareness called Be Moved. I like it.
They also have one going called "Every Damn Trail / Every Damn Street." Where you pick an area and commit to run .. every damn trail or street in that area. That's a huge challenge. I don't know if I want to do it. I probably won't. Eh... I probably will.... rotfl
@kgirlhart I AM ALWAYS HUNGRY. I am trying to just eat when I'm hungry so I can avoid the eating disorders we were talking about last week. I do avoid gluten and dairy and red meat. I was vegan for a while, but needed more protein so I added eggs. Then I added fish. So pescetarian, I guess. It's pretty manageable and gives me a lot more options. I mostly eat whole foods - unless like TODAY when I am STARVING TO DEATH and I ate a low carb egg burrito thing that a coworker had an extra of. So I got some gluten but not enough to make me care.
Short answer - I am as consistent as I possibly can be - except when I'm not. I hope that makes sense.

My daughter has gone vegan for a year and now thrown keto into the mix so vegan, gluten free, pumpkin spice doughnuts might be just the trick as they can't have anything in them!!! We are waiting on vegan / keto protein bars to turn up at the moment.
I am giving keto running a trial for a month which should be interesting!3 -

@TheMrWobbly you'll have to let me know how it goes! The women in my family have a lot of issues - red meat is an inflammatory food (so is sugar) - so I avoid it. Which actually sucks because I love steak and candy but... I can really, really tell a difference in how I feel when I do and don't eat certain things.1
