Saturday will be the MS Inside Out Bike Ride. They cancelled the actual ride so it’s a virtual one this year, either on a bike trainer or outside. So far I’ve done over 120 miles but I will try to do 60 mikes on Saturday, outside on the local bike traile at the park. Going to see how long the trail is one way so I can know how many laps I will need to do to get 60 miles3

Hi Gals,
Pip – great to do the MS ride virtually, but it loses some of the excitement not all being together. I love the trailer sagas and Yogi’s new experiences.
Allie ((((((((((hugs)))))))))))))
Margaret and others - Such good follow up on all the issues, I find that sometimes so hard to find time for… Especially with so many places having limited hours due to the pandemic.
Levi (my dog, not Lisa’s grandson -LOL) is fine, the vet described his ears as swamps! That is not good, but honestly if it wasn’t for an awful smell that had developed in the last 24 hours, there were no hints. He hates his ears touched even when all is good so he had to have anesthesia $$$. So they cleaned his ears and then bathed them in a oil based antibiotic cream. The vet and I are putting our heads together on ways to prevent this. I have had Levi since 2013 and this is the 4th major ear infection and the 6 one overall. He is a springer spaniel and the Vet says he has the smallest ear canals she has seen, and very thick long ear flaps, so any dirt or dampness gets in and it stays. I love long haired floppy eared dogs, but the by product is ear issues! She says after we get through this one she has some ideas for things I can do. I am a big lover of preventive for Levi and me.
I participated in the worst diet thing of all time… a s’more bar… so a fire pit, a platter of graham crackers, cinnamon graham crackers, ginger snaps and digestive biscuits; A platter of marshmallows, regular, chocolate stuffed, and peeps; and a platter of fillings, dark chocolate peanut butter cups, caramel filled chocolates, chocolate coffee bars, chocolate mint patties, and Limoncello fudge, Nutella… and a few others… I ate 4! They were so good, but so overwhelming. There were 4 friends and we were masked and taking turns at the fire pit, so it was very pandemic careful. This is a group that zooms once a week so it was fun to see one another in real life. We were celebrating a birthday.

here, I taught my first class yesterday, all were masked. it was good to teach live.
they are closing things down more here. Restaurants and cafés have to close at 10pm here. People generally start eating at 8pm, and Paris is a very evening-active place. That would be somewhat comparable to restaurants closing at, say, 8:30 pm in the usa. you can eat, but not linger, nor be on the late side.
There were a lot of major strikes and protests just before the lockdown here: students and higher ed teachers and civil servants massively on strike repeatedly for months. We had severe, strict lockdown for 2 months. Then there was little follow up and tracing of first cases after lockdown. It seemed like planned through waves, heard immunity approach, that they wanted the summer to be open but to avoid any protests in the fall. Now, once again, no more than 10 people together in public spaces. And it's very possible that schools will close again in a few weeks. some are already closed.
I am thinking of buying an exercise bike or rowing machine, as the days will be shorter and weather cooler, (harder to have time to get exercise- a walk or fast walk- during daylight hours), but I have quite a few other more obligatory expenses.1 -
sleep is not good at all these days.1

Beautiful cool morning here. Off to the PCP later today to do yearly blood tests and see if I need to see cancer doctors or if I can skip them for this year.
WAIST- The more I study the word the more confused I get. By definition, it means the narrowest part of the area between the rib cage bottom and hips or the narrowest part of an hourglass, violin, or guitar. By that definition, the waist in humans could then vary depending on belly fat. Navel location can vary so that isn't always the natural waist. With all these variables, I wonder how the word "pantywaist" got started.

Yes, KJ. Here she is again this last March, at Bea's birthday, just before lockdown. Be still my heart!
Only an hour and a half to go before I see them for the tea party.
Must wrap her presents!

Faye: The air here has been washed, too. It is delightful to breathe smoke free air. I hope there is enough rain to put out all of the fires. Our current AQI is 17, and is good. Regarding posts, I open the thread on the left side of my computer screen and pull up my word document on the right side. I can see both at the same time. I love the flexibility.
Heather: It is 57.4 Fahrenheit here, and the ground is wet, but it isn’t actually raining at the moment. My Convert app says that equals 14.11111 Celsius. The forecast is for light rain showers. I hope the smoke gets washed out of the air all over the state.
Debbiebert: Welcome! :flowerforyou:
I need to get pain pills for the dog today. I’ve already called the order into the vet’s office & will go there at about 10 am to pick them up. His surgery for the cancer lesion is coming up a week from tomorrow. I hope it all goes very well. We hope to enjoy his company for several more years.

Busy! Year end stuff at work. Assignment due in 2 weeks. 4 appointments this week.
Pouring rain today ...
Today (Friday) I had the first of 3 dental appointments to crown a problematic tooth. I hour ... and after 6 injections of local anaesthetic, I lost count of how many she gave me. One particular nerve would not "freeze". So she did as much work as she could and took moulds and things for the crown, then put a temporary thing all over it.
She'll try again on the next appointment, and if that nerve won't "freeze", then we'll go the nitrous oxide route. I've had to go that route once before.
My husband met me at the dentist and rode the bus home with me. He had picked up a few garden things.
By the time I got home, I was exhausted. I told him I wasn't going to nap, I was just going to lie down on the sofa to watch a show before dinner.
1.5 hours later, I woke up. I guess I was tired!
And for the next 2 weeks, I need to eat soft food. So it was soup, ice cream, yogurt, and thinly sliced cheese this evening. Not a lot of each because I didn't feel brilliant.
8 hours since the local anaesthetics, and the numbness is finally mostly gone. Mostly ... not all.
Chilly, wet, and windy weekend ahead. Guess I'll work on that last assignment!
But I'm going to go to bed shortly.

Heather - Edie is beautiful as a newborn and last year. Can't wait to see a picture of your visit today. Enjoy.
Faye - my husband wears his pants under his belly button and calls that his waist. It seems that it's a hard spot to narrow down.
Today is pizza day at work for staff appreciation. 25 pizzas were ordered yesterday to be delivered at different times throughout the day to accommodate for different shifts.
Tonight our Grandson is having a sleepover, he has asked for homemade pizza for supper, I told him that probably wouldn't happen so he is thinking on it today and will let me know. He wants something he can help make, I think I'll try to convince him that pancakes and bacon would be a good supper he could help with.3 -

Did a Firm Ultimate Fat Burning Workout DVD then went for my Bone Density Scan and mammogram. They did the 3D this time. Evidently Medicare covers 3D. So that’s good. Our previous plan didn’t cover 3D. The plan for tomorrow is to do a Yoga For Belly Butt and Thigh DVD
Made chocolate bran muffins before I went. Soup kitchen today! Did a load of laundry before I left.
Kim – glad Levi is all taken care of. Let us know what the vet says. Happy you enjoyed those smores
Vince isn’t feeling up to par. I swear, you would think the world was coming to an end! He’s walking around the house moaning and groaning. I’m sorry, I just have little sympathy. I swear, I don’t have time to be sick! He’s sleeping right now and I’m betting that once he gets up it’ll be “what did I eat”. Whenever he’s not feeling well it’s ALWAYS something he ate (or so he feels).
Just drizzling outside. I was surprised, when I went for the BDT and mammo I had to call them from the car (that I expected) but I was able to go right in. I was expecting to have to wait in the car. Guess they want to limit the number of people in the waiting room

Pip: Happy baking! I hope the dog treats come out just right. Thank you for your participation in the MS ride.
Kim: I hope the vet comes up with a good solution for Levi’s ear problems. I had spaniels a child and they have fabulous personalities, but those long, floppy ears can cause problems. Keeping my fingers crossed for Levi.
Heather: Edie is a beauty. Her eyes are stunning. :flowerforyou:
Linda in Northern Ontario: “Well another day to do whatever we want—lets make it a good positive day.” Great idea!
This is definitely a fall morning. It is misty and the sidewalks are wet. I woke up with a bit of a headache and took some Tylenol. It hasn’t done much good so far. :ohwell:

It was raining so hard this morning that even Sasha and I cut our walk short. We came home after just an hour. I was soaked to the skin and stripped out of all my clothes and put some in the washer and some in the dryer. It won't rain this hard all day so we'll get to walk more later.
Our big adventure today will be going to the library to return two books and pickup two more at curbside pickup. Then we'll go to our favorite Chinese restaurant for take out using the last money on the gift certificate I got from my line dance class for my birthday.
This is my morning to dance beginner dances for an hour. I dance only my favorites.
The zucchini, tomato, and cucumber plants are all history and now we're talking about preparing the ground for next year and deciding what to plant.
Heather, Happy Birthday to Edie. Hope the party is great.

Welcome back @debbiebert Deb! Would you let us know your general locale to help us keep you straight in our minds from our other Debbies and Debbys and…
Faye missing others posts after posting, yup, just happened to me again with Tracey’s post. I knew mfp “returns” me to the page after my last post, but now when I start reading, had to add “scan up a bit” to my “page back a page.”
Welcome @Mjkerik2010 and @helloquilts! Would you let us know what to call you and your general locale?
Allie (((hugs))) for losing so many friends so close together.
Kate (((hugs))) disabled and hit with anxiety/panic attack, you must feel so powerless. I’d be kicking and screaming!
Michele could the pipe with bricks in it be some kind of drainage tile? Would capping it cause excess water to back up and damage the house’s foundation? I’m also annoyed when Joe moans and groans, but it seems to help him deal with the pain so I’ll cope or move to another room
Kim I look forward to hearing your vet’s ideas to prevent Levi’s future ear infections. We’re struggling with Shadow’s lick granuloma and next available appointment not til Oct 20. Cortisone solution, taping haven’t stopped. She’s as adept at wriggling out of the cone ‘o’ shame as she is at chewing off the tape. Vitamin e seems to help it heal, but doesn’t stop the licking. Gonna try taping green tea bag next. That s’mores bar sounds as decadent and disastrous as my chocolate fondue with banana slices, walnut halves, maraschino cherries and cubes of cream cheese. Yum.
Machka what horrible torture! Why didn’t the DDS go right to the nitrous when the first 3 shots didn’t freeze the nerve? If it were me, I’d find an oral surgeon who could put me out for future dental work.
Tracey “… hard spot to narrow down.” Ain’t it the truth! I agree with Katla, Faye and Lanette about the importance of Vit D. Are prescriptions included in Canada’s free health care? Would your Dr. write you such a script?
Last night CI went 166 over CO due third glass of wine and the last of the Wheat Thins. Damage was only .2 lb. This morning had the house to myself for an hour while Joe went in to town. No laundry to do, had spot vacuumed yesterday so I indulged in catching up with you accompanied by instant vanilla caramel latte and hoarded/frozen pastry fourths (walnut scone, cinnamon snail, chocolate croissant and cro-nut). Savored every bite and sip. Now time to get up and work off the caffeine and sugar shakes.
Lighter, lovelies!

Michele - my husband had the same mentality as Vince until last year when I had to take him to emergency and he learned what can happen with an obstructed bowel when he only though “it was something he ate”. He has been having headaches for years that I thought was high blood pressure, his response was “well I feel fine, it’s just allergies, stress. He learned I was right when a dentist refused to remove a tooth until he got his blood pressure under control. A couple months after starting the meds and exercising and eating healthy he said he didn’t know how bad he felt until he started feeling better.
Annie - I popped on to post this as it reminded me of your date today.
Barbara - prescriptions are not covered but I have incredible benefits. I’ll talk to my doctor about that when I see her in October.
Tracey in Edmonton6 -
Barbie: We’re also thinking of next year’s garden. Next year I want to build cages for my beans. I envision white plastic plumbing pipe boxes with netting attached. The whole “box” would be lifted for me to pick beans and deer to get none. I hope to make it a reality, not just a fantasy. The other morning, we had six deer here eating the remains of the garden. :grumble:
Machka: Thanks for the link to information on the corona virus. The symptom checker is a useful tool.
Michele: I hope that Vince is not seriously ill. Machka’s symptom checker is a good tool to help figure out whether Vince needs to see the doctor. I would nag my husband until he made an appointment with the doctor and I’d see to it that he kept the appointment if he had worrisome flu like symptoms, pain or discomfort. Good luck to you and Vince. I hope things turnout well. :flowerforyou:

Aftetnoon ladies
Faith had lunch and napping again..
Alfie has been staring down a chipmunk that is out on the patio where i put some birdseed.1 -
Well reaction from flu shot all gone, so go a lot done this morning. Cleaned camper rugs and floors, hand washed 2 batches of clothes, took care of some watering for park, and cleaned off catch-all kitchen table and washed table cloth. Taking a break to catch up here and now to cook bacon before it goes bad and prep for our mid-afternoon lunner (lunch/dinner or is it linnet?).
Supposed to break heat records today through the weekend 99-101 each day then back to cool down on Monday.
Laters ladies!
