Did the last of the Dressed Up Drills DVD. The plan for tomorrow is to just walk on the treadmill. I want to do something not real strenuous since I’ll need to go for my fasting blood test tomorrow a.m. Unfortunately, now they don’t open until 8. Then I’ll go to Food Lion to get ice cream that’s on a 3 day sale, then stop to see Lynette (I have coupons for her) and then the soup kitchen. Not sure if I’ll pick up the glass or not.

WalMart does deliver, I think they have a minimum of $35 order. I do get my cat litter from them (3 at a time so I get free shipping) since it’s so heavy. I keep my shopping list on my phone so it is always with me. As we run out of something, I put it on the list. If I had to remember every time I went shopping, we’d get an awful lot of things we didn’t need and I’d miss the things we did need.

Fae – that is the app that I first had and I couldn’t figure out how to start the next game. It looks like you have to be on a league. Also, it seems to assume that you’re bowling a straight ball.

Went to the lawyer to update our wills then went to Aldi. They have butter on sale so I bought 6, Vince bought 6, then we both went back and got 6 more each. Butter can be frozen so that’s what I’ll do. I do hope they have grapes on sale again because I can use more to freeze.

I, also, keep a word document open and add as I go along

Suebdew – I guess I started working a few months ago. You know that I’m more of a “people” person, I loved being in a group. I would take group exercise classes. If I was home, Vince would say “what’s wrong, you’re home”. So when we were on full lockdown, I thought I’d go crazy. I still volunteered at the soup kitchen and I’d really look forward to going there just to be with people. So this job at Food Lion works for me. A few hours a day, 2 or 3 days a week works for me. It gets me out with people.

Steph in ID – I like your attitude

Lisa – so glad they got to the bottom of your health. Are you taking any medications for the a-fib?

The first time I ordered things from WalMart for pick up, they made some substitutions. I didn’t realize that there was a place where you can specify “no substitutions”. Actually, there were two items, one of them we kept since Vince would eat it (I didn’t realize this) and the other item they just gave to me. Well, to be honest, this was when their pick up first started, maybe they did that to help get their business off the ground. I was talking to Vince today saying how Aldi has 4 parking spots dedicated to pick up and only twice have I ever seen one car there. WalMart has 6 parking spaces dedicated to pick up. Vince said that one time he say ONE car there. I suspect a lot of stores thought this would really take off and it hasn’t as much as they expected.

Think I’ll go work on the jigsaw puzzle.

Barbie Thank you and I agree. Best to stick to threads that are neither combative nor competitive.

M in Oz Yes, keep your teeth as long as possible. I made it to age 68 before I had no choice. A good friend about your age also has a crumbly teeth problem and the dentist and doctors have no explanation why. She just keeps up with good hygiene and has about 20 crowns. She has good gums which is a great thing.

Thanks, Michele. I walked out with just a diuretic, but the doc called me at 7:30 p.m. He spoke to the cardiologist that read my tests, including the monitor I wore for two weeks. The cardio guy said I'm in a-fib all the time, with my heartbeats per minute varying between 80 bpm and 240 bpm. Explains some of my trouble sleeping, as well. So my doc is getting them to overnight my meds to the house, one of the beta-blockers. Hope it helps settle some of this.

My aunt, who is 83 and in a nursing home since having a stroke a few years back, has COVID. They have moved her to a hospital. She is my Daddy’s only remaining sibling. All of Mama’s siblings are gone, although she has one remaining aunt who is really more her generation than her mother’s.

Hope your aunt is like my former mother in law. She is 83, in a nursing home and tested positive but never developed any symptoms. Tested positive for over three weeks.

Grocery delivery I might do it for standard items but not for meat and veggies unless it is frozen. Fresh items like lettuce and other greens I need to choose. Just my thing. DH loves grocery shopping but impulse buys a lot. Costs me too much when he goes with me.

Zoom believe it or not , I’ve never done a zoom meeting. I’ve done others when working like “Go To Meeting”. At home i use Face Time, or Messenger video. Just never tried Zoom.
crowns I had one once to hold a bridge in but the root rotted and ended having to get it pulled and put on my bridge. Dentist saying most of my teeth have cracks in them from nighttime clenching and grinding but I won’t agree to it. First off too expensive, second; I already have a partial plate that I’ve had since I was 18 (the bridge didn’t last long enough for me to get another). Started with 2 teeth now have 6 on it so when I need ir, I’ll have the others pulled as needed and added to existing plate. Once and done!

Slowly recovering from colitis/allergy attack this weekend but still not 100%. About 75% back to normal.

This is getting long so see ya laters ladies!

My husband is the shopper too- I always say the same thing you do- I spend so much more when he is with me(which is almost every time- I rarely go anywhere by myself)
And he doesn't pick healthy stuff at all.

When husband and I go shopping we have list. I have estimated cost, and anything that he throws into the cart I ask him was price. No surprises!

we dont make a list usually(except if we are going to the Asian market)- we go to Lucky's and Grocery Outlets(two of each) in Napa- We see what is on sale/deals and plan meals around that. Today we got a great deal on salmon- I put it in the freezer so we will have it for Thanksgiving(we had not decided what protein to make- husband doesn't like turkey, I love to cook turkey, he prefers ham, son doesn't like ham or beef- everyone likes salmon and it will be the three of us, maybe son's girlfriend and we will take a plate of food over to his mom). I got a bunch of the bagged salad kits- $3.99 regular price with a $3 off coupon. I hit produce, he hits meat department, I meet him in the meat and check it out. Hamburger for .99 for one pound chub, NY steak for 3.99lb(I am not a fan of steak but he loves it- son and I will eat it if I can get it tender enough). Husband does like his snacks and tends to buy a little less when I am with him but he works in a grocery store so picks up stuff there.

At lunch today, I took a look around for a grad dress. I thought maybe I might splurge a little and get a grad dress.

For my high school grad I wore a fairly sleek, simple blue dress.
For my first Bachelor's degree, I wore a dress I designed and had made with satin and lace and full skirts and all sorts. It was 1988 after all.

Since then, I've just attended my grads (6 of them, I think), in the gowns, and have not attended any celebrations or functions that would require a dress.

There won't be any celebrations or functions this year either unless my husband and I go out for dinner, which we might plan to do. So I don't need a dress, and after looking at a whole bunch of them, I think I've decided I don't want a dress. I'm not enthusiastic about anything I've seen ... or more accurately, I'm not enthusiastic about the prices for what I've seen! And what's with linen everything these days??

I felt the most enthusiasm for a simple black pencil skirt which I might get and wear with a sleeveless top of some sort.

Allie: Thanks for sharing your granddad’s comment, “Feeling like 2 cents worth of God help us. . .” I like this, it helps to put things into perspective. :flowerforyou:

(((Lisa))) I am so glad that your doctor called you and arranged to overnight your meds. I hope you’ll be feeling better very soon.

I called my sister-in-law this evening, just to chat. I’m so glad that I did. There are lots of CoVID worries in her county and she is spending time at home keeping herself and her DH in a safe place. We talked about her daughter who lives in the Hillsboro, OR area now. She sold her house and moved closer to where she works. I'm guessing the commute is much easier. I hope she is happy.

"Get to do"s and "chose well"s
Chose well: dogs to powerline, spoke with adjustor, MD appt, BGBS.
Bonus: 40 mins vacuuming, Barb gave me a massage instead of coffee!
Get to do: take BP 1st thing, 10 am OSHA C-19 webinar, minutes, watch STAS Day 15, car to body shop, submit grant pics and receipts, test Bluetooth speaker so can do BB&B or T’ai Chi from voice recordings, make experimental almond paste, declutter sideboard, practice new dances (I ain’t never gonna love nobody but Cornell Crawford (Alley cat), A Little Less Broken, One margarita, I’m so used to being broke, All Night, Sleeping with the Devil, Nothing but You, Blame it on my beating heart, Homesick); prep potato area and raised beds for beets, carrots, parsley root, parsnips, radishes and sow; weed drive again, finish weeding flower bed, mulch flowerbed; invest another 10 minutes in prepping living trust, Freddie’s for complete series TDAP <$48, get Shingrix vaccine, find and configure a screen time popup, figure out where to plant naked lady bulbs. New Ways November
12: Overcome a frustration by trying a new approach: Try laughing it off!

I was wrong and receptionist #2 was right, lab results were available in time for appointment. Oops!
Statin made a huge improvement in total cholesterol down to 165 from 236 and equivalent improvements in LDL BUT since the dosage was low and the side effects significant PA was ok to stop taking. Happy dance here. The deal is I have to take my bp at least 3 times / week and record for follow up appt in 3 weeks. May have to try BP meds. Lipids will be rechecked in Feb. PA will check into ordering genetic counseling/testing for breast cancer, thanks to all who recommended it.

Barbie your “wasn’t” OCD story made me laugh out loud!
Fae thank you for sharing your dental history. My DDS cautioned me that a filling I need might be the end of my 20 year old bridge. I’m afraid that means extracting one or both anchor teeth. After a horrible experience at 17 with an impacted baby tooth I swore a might oath to never have another extraction from anyone but an oral surgeon who could put me out. Think I’ll look for such a specialist even if I have to travel to Coos Bay or Medford. This local DDS is very good, patient, careful to minimize pain, but doesn’t offer the gas I need to “take me away, Calgon!”
Machka Friday the 13th has always been a lucky day for me.
Steph this is a safe place to vent. Keeping to a normal schedule is a good strategy to avoid fretting, depression and poor food choices. Good luck training for your half marathon!
Lisa, really admire your attitude and glad that at last you have an answer. Hope the edema abates soon and the meds get you some respite.
    Kay ((hugs))

There were other responses that flitted across what’s left of my mind, but poof! They’re gone!

    Time to sleep.

Saw pulmonologist today and everything is well with sarcoidosis. See him again in a year. He did however agree my heartbeat is wonky. Got Holter monitor this afternoon. Michelle it does have 5 wires and the little box goes in my pocket. I wear it for 24 hours so get to remove it at 2:50 pm tomorrow.

We need to do some digging in the horse paddock so water will drain more effectively. We have a huge mud puddle right in front of the entrance to the shelter. We have dug it out, installed hoofgrid and filled with gravel to no avail 3 times now. Last year we tried recycled asphalt hoping it would pack down and make the area more stable. The joy of horses in mud season.

Everyone take care Sue in WA

    Happy Friday the 13th!

What superstitions do you have? Here are a few of mine...
    • When I spill salt, I tend to throw a little bit over my left shoulder to prevent bad luck. Come to find out, this superstition is 5,500 years old.
    • I was a painter's kid, so I don't walk under ladders, 'cause that's just good sense.
    • If a cat runs across the road, I always check to see what color it is. I don't DO anything about it, I just check.
    • I knock on wood.
    • I still say "bless you," when people sneeze.
    • Not sure if it's superstition, but I ALWAYS tell the people I care about that I love them when I get off the phone, or when I leave them or they leave me. Should either of us die, the last thing we hear should be that we are loved.

    Later,
    Love,

    They don't.

Our Woolworths (in Australia and New Zealand) is not the same as Woolworths in other countries.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Woolworths_Group_(Australia)
"Despite similar names, Woolworths Group has no affiliation with the F.W. Woolworth Company based in the United States, the now-defunct Woolworths Group in the UK or the South African chain of retail stores, Woolworths Holdings Limited. Its main operations include supermarkets (under the Woolworths brand in Australia and the Countdown brand in New Zealand), liquor retailing (as BWS and Dan Murphy's in Australia), hotels and pubs under the Australian Leisure and Hospitality Group (ALH Group) umbrella, and discount department-stores under the Big W name in Australia."

    Sorry to hear that.

I've gone the other way this year! :)

I've gone from feeling like an old woman to one who feels young enough for life to be beginning again! :)
