Caught up after a busy couple of days. Just drifting off to sleep. So just a few comments.
Allie: Continuing (((hugs))) and 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 For a speedy, positive resolution for your surgery
@Anniesquats100 Happy Birthday. It's our DED's birthday today and we had enjoyed a lovely lunch with her.
Gearing up for doing my Christmas cards, and looking for Christmas presents. We have decided that this year we are going to buy local, and support local trade and craft people.
Big hugs to all.

Well, I think we are at the end with our pup. He won't eat anything -- not even treats or yummies that he usually gets really excited about. Which means we also haven't been able to get him to take his medicine today. He also seems to have lost some bowel control -- still trying to figure that out exactly, but he kind of just drips. Sorry if that's gross. He had made a real mess of himself, so last night, my youngest and I gave him a nice warm bath, cleaned him up, and then had put him back outside. He hasn't been moving much out there today, so probably tonight, we will wrap him up in a nice warm old blanket and have him hang out with us inside.
My assignment for tomorrow is to call the vet. I am assuming, especially with the new freeze put in place today, that if we are allowed in, they will allow only one person, so we have decided we will hire someone to come to the house to put him down. We all want to be with him.
He has been such a good, sweet dog. We have been spending this week telling him how much we have appreciated knowing him and letting him know that it's okay if he goes. I wish he would just go peacefully in his sleep, on his own, but we aren't going to watch him starve to death.
This was taken a few months ago -- it's Leif with my youngest.

Now that I am wearing a mask, I no longer tell bald-faced lies.5
-
Rita - sorry you are struggling. Pretty masks.
Katla - it’s been mask and gloves since March for all staff and visitors. Our problem, we believe, stems from resident’s families refusing to stop touching their loved ones. They insist on taking masks down, kissing and hugging. Every time someone is seen not following procedures they are spoken to, but we deal with a lot of very difficult families. Our ministerial orders are we cannot deny visits though. Even today after being told we have a case some families chose to still come visit. 😢
Allie - I hope you get the surgery sooner rather than later so you can start the healing process.
Michele - I should get results by Friday at the latest. We will be having weekly tests for a while now. Very uncomfortable procedure, but if it keeps our residents safe it’s worth it.
It will be interesting to see what happens with Daytona, but health is more important than racing.
Flea - sorry to hear about your dog.
When I left work today all but 2 tests had come back for residents and still only the 1 resident is positive. We won’t get the staff’s back until tomorrow and Friday. On Friday all residents will be swabbed again as there is a 5-7 day incubation period. Staff will be tested next week again.
It was a tough day at work but we got through it and will get through another tomorrow. One day at a time.

Allie-glad they are figuring it all out. Heart surgeries aren't quite what they were several years ago and it sounds like they re sending you to a good facility. I'm sure you will soon feel like a new person.
Tracey-sorry to hear you have a positive resident. We have had nursing homes hit very hard in my county. They determined in most cases, it was a staff member bringing it in. At a couple of them near me they think it may well have been some of the high school students working there who were totally asymptomatic. It is good they are being aggressive early on.
Lisa-sounds like you are also on the right track. I can't imagine having all of that water weight come on so quickly. You must be feeling relief.
Flea-sorry it is time for you to say goodbye to your pup. That is a hard thing to do but it sounds like it is the right time. He is lucky to have such a caring family.
Like seeing the goat pictures and the discussions of them are interesting. Never had a goat nor have I wanted one but it is interesting the different animals people like. I mainly think it is good people find things other than themselves to care for.
My covid whineCurrently have six staff with active covid (a few have recovered). Got a text from one of my managers, who I have know for years and really like. She and her husband are both positive (they took a weekend trip with two other couples, stayed in same condo, one of the other folks had covid and didn't know it and all 6 now have it). She had been doing ok with it at home but the last three days has gotten progressively worse. She texted late today she was going to ER to get checked out. I have to admit, I just sat down and cried-it's like the whole thing hit me. She has texted that her chest is clear, but her heart rate is high so they are doing a heart monitor and some labs, etc. Don't know any of those results yet. Luckily her husband (who you would think would get hit harder due to his health issues) is doing well. Strange illness this is. I think I am getting tired of being strong and in charge, but I guess I am where I am supposed to be. Thanks for listening to me.
I did have to laugh over the two whose husbands watch Expedition Unknown and the Curse of Oak Island and they don't like it. Those are actually two of my favorite shows! Of course, I also like Ancient Aliens . . . .
Heading off to get a good night's sleep so I feel refreshed and ready to deal with whatever tomorrow brings.
Take care all,
Ginny in Ohio

It breaks my heart to read about your declining pup and the photo of the love between your son and him. So sorry for all of you as you go through this.

Flea - so sorry about your puppy
Today I learned that at one of our schools a staff member who was feeling symptoms but was waiting for the result of her test didn't self isolate instead they went to school. Now 6 classes have to self isolate for 14 days! Ugh
Today was harder to stick to plan but I just have to do it. Sugar is not my friend by any means!

Flea - prayers for your family. It's so hard but you are doing the right thing
Tracey - I agree that health is more important than racing. To be honest, I don't know if Vince agrees.

Barbie - “ …Sasha needs a haircut a lot more than Jake does and both dogs need a bath.” I think I should be sorry for laughing at this...the importance of commas (I haven't been here long, so I want to make sure that isn't offensive to you, if so then I will apologize.)
Sheri in OH
Sheri, Not only was I not offended, I laughed and read this to Jake who laughed with me and said that maybe he is a dog sometimes. I am usually a superior proofreader, but I clearly missed the boat on this one.

Flea, I am so sorry about your dog. Good idea to have someone come to the house so you can all be there.0

Rita: The Christmas masks are delightful. They are seasonal and fun. I’m sure the crème puffs are excellent, too. Unfortunately, I can’t enjoy them due to milk/cream intolerance. :ohwell: I’m sorry that holiday depression is trying to sneak in. (((hugs)))
Felicia: I am so sorry your wonderful pup is near its end. My heart goes out to you and your whole family.
(((Allie))): Prayers for your doctor’s skill and your complete recovery.
Tracie in Green Bay: Welcome! :flowerforyou:
Tracey in Edmonton: You are in a challenging situation at work. I doubt there is way to get the some of these visitors to do the right thing. You are so good to help these families struggle through difficult times. :flowerforyou:
We’ve been homebodies today. It is a rainy day & it feels cozy to be warm inside the house. Right now the rain is really pouring down out in the dark of night. That makes inside seem even more cozy.

18: Connect with someone from a different generation: listening to R yesterday.
Finally figured out where my days are going. Sitting with Joe in his man cave, watching movies. Not good for my step count but good for my “be present” intention and our connection.
The past few days I’ve been meeting my step goal by walking to Leslie Sansome or line dance videos. Today went way over on calories, way under on steps and can not muster the gumption to step up. Some days are just like that. Yeah, they are.
Fae one thing I’m looking forward to in the New Year is that it will no longer be 2020 ;} Psyllium capsules are an easy way to help me up my daily fiber.
Sheri in oh the smile Bob brought you. What Barbie said about your DH.
Annie where did you read that 12 mins exercise can make a difference in the blood? That might just be the motivation I need.
Rita ((hugs))
Debbie your Shima/Tora/and their mother story warmed my heart.
Tracie in GB I feared retirement as I thought my identity was wrapped up in what I did. Nope. After a brief resting period I discovered I loved being free to do what I choose and when. Welcome to retirement!
Heather Joe would NEVER notice if one of the flower pots changed color  Fingers X’d for the tests.
Kim glad to see you posting. How is it going with your new roomie?
Ginny Ancient Aliens is one of the few shows Joe and I watch together.
Flea :brokenheart: ((hugs))
Just put on my bathrobe, freshly warmed from the dryer. So comforting. Next time I’m feeling hug deprived, I’ll just pop the robe into the dryer for a few and wrap myself up in its warmth.

Blood test today. I will try to get a bit of writing done this morning. Usually, appointments and meetings throw off my resolve and concentration. I didn’t write yesterday as I got caught up researching my hip problem, but I was pleased with the results of my efforts, so it was worth the sacrifice!
Today I will be writing about a camping holiday with my parents in Wales when the tent got completely flooded out and we woke up to find our air beds were floating! We packed up and went home. The best thing about that holiday was the local repertory theatre. We saw "Love In A Mist", a classic farce, which had me breathless with laughter. I love a good, old fashioned, farce.
Must buy some cards today. The place where I usually buy them is closed for covid, but I think the little convenience store has started stocking a few. I'm normally very fussy about my cards, but I will have to drop my standards. We've got through most of my stash I had in reserve.
Much love to all, Heather UK xxxxxxxx

Walking at lunch yesterday ...

Morning ladies
I slept pretty well even though they come in every 4 hours for vitals and i have lost another 1/2 lb so that makes 3 lbs over the next 48 hrs..covid results negative so the staff doesnt have to go crazy gowning up and etc...
No fluids or food as they plan on doing one of the procedures today.. a transesophagial endoscopy. Meaning going down the throat and check the heart out that way. Then angiogram tomorrow. Because of kidneys they will be doing a kidney flush 12 hrs before and 12 hrs angiogram..
So just watching the local news7 -

I'm so sorry, Flea - I hope it is a peaceful passing.
Allie - Glad you're covid negative, and really glad they're checking your heart out very well. Thank you for keeping us posted.
Heather - hope the blood tests show positive results.
And, speaking of medical stuff, the VA finally sent the medications I needed by UPS rather than the post office. I didn't even know they were allowed to do that! But I did get the beta blocker in yesterday and took the first dose. My resting heart rate is down from 100 to 96, but that's well within the error rate for a Fitbit, so not jumping for joy yet.
I am optimistic, however. When the heart rate and blood pressure go down, I'm hoping the edema will go with them. The whole elephantine ankles thing makes me flinch. Why? Because I have certain vanities. Because I live inside here, I can't see my butt, my face, my neck, my wrinkles, without a mirror. I can, however, see my feet and ankles. And, as feet and ankles go, they looked pretty good. At the moment, they look like they did when I weighed over 300 pounds. The water-weight loss from the diuretic hasn't changed the edema issue at all, but at least I've lost 17 pounds so far.
Going in for labwork myself tomorrow.
Later, y'all,
Love, Lisa in AR2 -
Lisa- thats the thing I dont have the edema thank goodness. With me being laid up in bed at least i have no restrictions and can get up and walk around, and sit in the chair which i will do.. ,I would love a glass of ice water but alas not until after the procedure..
I am hooked up to a Holter monitor but its small compared to the one i used years ago..as my grandfather used say they are always changing things2 -
Greetings from VA. I need some support and accountability buddies.6

Lanette – what I’m looking for is a pedometer/time of day (watch)/gives calories burned. Right now I’m looking at the Realalt 3D pedometer. I’d like something that I can just put in my pocket. See, on some of my pants, the pockets aren’t very deep so a cell phone just barely fits. I don’t care for the way the Fitbit looks, I think all of them are on the wrist and that’s just never appealed to me. I’m afraid (because this happened to me once) that if I have something that clips onto the waist, I will lose it. I just looked at the link you gave. Hey! That’s the same one I’m looking at!!!! GMTA, that’s for sure. How do you like yours? How difficult is it to change the battery?
A friend sent these to me and I hate to say it -- but what is it used for? The three screws on the top is what's throwing me off. Is it a wall decoration? She painted it. It's of the four seasons, two on one side and two on the other

They're fan blades.
You could use them as fan blades.
Or you could run a wire through the holes and hang them from a porch, arch or pergola outside.
Google fan blade art for more ideas.
I see some have created dragon flies with them.

There are several different ideas here.

"Covid is restricting our lives, but we can find new ways to keep making progress. Trying out new things can actually boost our well-being. When we open up to new ideas, it helps us stay curious and engaged. It can also bring a sense of accomplishment and help to boost our self-confidence and resilience. There are so many ways to learn new things and this month we're encouraging everyone to find new and creative ways to overcome our frustrating situations."
Sunday 15 November
Go outside and do something playful - walk, run, explore, relax
Yeah ... cycling, walking, visiting the beach.
Monday 16 November
Look at life through someone else's eyes and see their perspective
I did that today. For me C19 is a very minor inconvenience with many positive aspects, but a friend posted about the effect it is having on her life.
Tuesday 17 November
Try a new way to practice self care and be kind to yourself
Working on it ... sort of.
Wednesday 18 November
Connect with someone from a different generation
When I was in uni, most of the people I connected with were from a different generation. A much younger generation. Now the people I connect with are mostly within my generation.
Thursday 19 November
Broaden your perspective: Read a different paper, magazine or site
Hmmm ... I don't really read papers or magazines. I read the occasional articles ... usually one from a paper that leans slightly left and one from a paper that leans slightly right.
The websites I go on tend to be about travel, cycling, fitness, etc.

Thinking of Flea today.
Also hoping things are ok with Beth and her son.
Went and had my blood test. The nurse told me the whole story of her three marriages and her current boyfriend.
Then I did a bit of shopping for food and bought cards. Lucky to find some in the little convenience store around the corner.
It's our 16th wedding anniversary tomorrow. I still think of DH as my "new" boyfriend!!! Got some nice food lined up and a bottle of champagne. Plus presents to open in bed. Yes, Tracey.
Tandoori chicken tonight. Yum!
Love Heather UK xxxxxxxx who did write this morning.3
