Happy July 1st!
Time to get the grass cut today. Weāve had so much rain the past week that I have mushrooms growing in the yard. If only we could have shared some of the rain with California and Arizona.
What are you doing today for yourself?
Roxie and I started the day with a nice 15 minute walk.
Jill0 -
I didnāt step on the scale this morning, but I will tomorrow. Iām the only one working today, so Roxie and I had a nice morning walk while everyone is sleeping in.
Happy Monday!

Apparently, either I forgot to log in last week or I tried to log in from my phone and hit "Done" instead of "Post Reply," (which is something I do *all* the time). Luckily, I keep track in the diary food notes of what I weigh every day.
Still basically maintaining. Still not drinking enough water. Still eating too many carbs and not getting enough exercise through the week. Still working on it.
Rode my bike Saturday (7.75 miles), yesterday (14), and this morning (11.28). None of those rides broke any records, but it was nice to get out all three days.

@seilidhe would leaving full water bottles everywhere around the house help you increase water intake?0 -

You're doing great! As for leaving full bottles around the house, probably not. It's a relatively small apartment, the 32 pack of bottled water is on the floor, behind the loveseat, between the living area and the kitchen. Not too hard to get to when I'm at home. I just don't think of it. I don't drink much at work because I work in a courtroom and I can't just tell the judge in the middle of a hearing that I need to go to the loo. Had to do that once because the judge had decided to work into the lunch hour and I was dying. That particular judge threw me under the bus with the jury for making him prolong their time with us. Swore I wouldn't do that again, so I don't drink very much when I have to be in court for an hour or more at one stretch. Hahahaha!0 -

Well, I'm nothing if not consistent for the past three weeks. I get down to 177, 176, 175... then bam... weekend, poor choices, and there I am back up at 178.
Had a couple of "bad" days filled with frustration, irritation, and just plain anger. Took it out with calories. And too many carbs. Had a good afternoon on Saturday as we (my daughters and I) drove up to Phoenix and had lunch with my son at the Four Peaks Brewery (which just happens to brew my favorite beer). I'd determined not to eat anything else the rest of the day due to calorie/carb intake, but let's face it, the number of calories and carbs in a bacon cheeseburger, fries, and a beer don't make up for the fact that it was only a bacon cheeseburger, fries, and a beer. I was hungry enough later that I had to eat again. And sadly, the place we ended up at just fries EVERYTHING. I didn't even get my bike ride that day because, frankly, it's a really boring road up and back and there was no way I was going to be able to drive it if I got up extra early to ride. I'd planned to walk that evening, but Mother Nature put a halt to that with a pretty good storm (wind/dust/flash flood and even tornado warnings). It seemed safer to stay inside. When I did take the dog for her last potty spin of the night, there were twigs and small branches all over the complex and, in front of the apartments directly behind mine, a tree had come down, landing on the roof of the "porch/landing" between two apartments. I also didn't ride yesterday because I overslept. I did walk for 2 miles in our local "sauna" (aka the Recreational Path that circles the city) last night. It was near 90Āŗ with 45% humidity - ridiculous for Arizona. The dog and I were wiped out when we got home. So... poor choices, less exercise, not enough fluids... one day I'll get my head out of my @$$ and do this right again.
Hope y'all are having a fine day!1 -
I can totally relate, Sei!
I need to get my head out of my štoo. I just have not been motivated to do anything for the past week but play a stupid phone game that is very frustrating and a waste of time. After walking with Roxie tonight, I decided to delete the gameā¦ and I felt better. Iāve been avoiding MFP because Iāve been off the rails eating and logging, so itās time to stop hiding and time to get this train š back on track.
Jill2 -
That stupid phone game wouldn't be Redecor or Design Home, would it? Talk about frustrating games! I keep telling myself I'm going to delete both of them and then, well, I'll just do this one last room! I'm enervated by the heat and don't want to do anything but sit and read. I tell myself it will get better when it cools off but that won't be until about December if we're lucky. Lol
Hang in there, Jill! And just remind yourself that it's step by step that we'll achieve or goals.0 -

Still having an issue with getting back in the game. Dear gods, I ate nearly a dozen munchkins this past Saturday, with a couple of brownies. What was I thinking? (Well, to tell the truth, I was thinking they tasted pretty damned good. Sigh.)
It was not a very good week for me. Whining ahead, thus the spoiler so you don't have to look at it.Friday, the 9th, I got word that my brother-in-law (my ex's bro) had a heart attack and had to have open heart surgery. (I like my brother-in-law. And I'm still family to them while my ex is not.) Saturday, the 10th, I went to Phoenix, saw my son, and ate a lot and had a beer. I don't remember what exactly I did on Sunday, but too many calories, no exercise. Monday, same. Tuesday, same. Wednesday morning, really, really early, I was awakened by rain. So when it was actually time for me to get up, I did my usual morning stuff, which involves me running around, brushing my teeth while feeding the dog and making my lunch.
I'm usually dressed in the "height of fashion" (in other words a t-shirt and undies). So, there I am, cup of dog food in one hand, brushing my teeth, and I go to look outside to see how wet the rain left us. And WTF??? There's a "blank space" along the railing where my daughter's bike had been the night before. Yep. Someone stole it.
Left my bike sitting there (more obviously a woman's bike, I guess). And didn't touch the old 10 speed that wasn't locked at all. I think I heard it happen on Tuesday night, but because the people were talking and laughing, and the dog wasn't freaking out, I thought it was the neighbors. I was so mad, I went running out the front door, and looked up and down the sidewalk. Like I was going to see anything. Filling out the online police report caused me to miss my bus. A couple of hours later, my sister responded to a text from me, asking if she wanted to ride on Saturday, telling me that she'd been in the hospital since Sunday - that she'd had a stroke or a seizure or something, and had passed out, but the doctors couldn't find anything except that she had high blood pressure and now she's on meds. The previous Thursday, it took the techs and the anesthesiologist to get the the IV in my daughter's arm for her treatment. I was told it took 10 tries. And I still can't get a damned response from the PCP about the referral request. So... I ate emotionally. And it showed on the scale. And now I've whined my way through this.
This past Saturday, I pushed it too hard on my bike ride (25 miles, but it wasn't the distance - it was the heat, humidity, and I ran out of water, so dehydration). Had to break for about 20 minutes, just sitting on the ground, until the dizziness went away. Only one person, an older woman who was walking on the path, stopped to see if I was okay, although a couple of cyclists asked as they zoomed by. We don't often have water in our river beds, but we did this past weekend.
I did get asked to go on a date for the first time in years this past weekend. Sadly, he wanted to go see a musician that I can't go see. I just can't. There's too much history, not directly with me, but yeah... it would have been beyond awkward to see him. So the guy suggested some bluegrass concert. I'm good with that. If he was serious. I haven't heard anything from him since and he said he'd get in touch. Still, it kind of felt good to be asked. I've been divorced for 16 years this month and I can count the number of times I've been asked out on one hand... and have fingers left over. So, yeah...
It will get better. I have to believe.1 -
Hello! My name is Melissa and I am a 40 year old mother of two who is a full time teacher and part time student to finish my qualifications. I will be teaching 4 grades in the fall(grades 2,3,4,5) and know it will be a challenge. I have managed to go from 236lbs to 180. I had gone down to 160 but Covid and teaching online has made it extremely difficult to keep my activity level up. When I am teaching in the class, I walk non stop all day and can easily hit 12 000 steps before 3pm. I have also found myself slipping into old habits. I know exactly what is needed for sustainable weight loss. There are no excuses. I write my goals daily and see myself talking myself out of following through more often than not. I am hoping that joining a challenge will push me to be more accountable. I will try my best to log here regularly. Here are my stats.

While trying to catch up on the large mountains of laundry, I realized that weight loss and logging calories is a lot like laundry and dishes. If you work on it each day, it becomes easier to manage.
If youāre like me and leave a sink load full of dirty dishes and a clean dishwasher to take care of the next morning, then youāve got another mountain to conquer. Iām not setting myself up for success.
I just need to better plan for mealsā¦ and cut up veggies in advanceā¦and log right after I eatā¦ or in the morning before everyone is up.
Exercise isnāt the issue for me, itās snacking too much, not drinking enough water, and my attitude toward cooking when I get home from work.1 -

Jill, I'm right there with you.... The sink is full, the dishwasher is waiting, and I apparently think meals should prepare themselves. Not enough exercise, not enough water, not enough vegetables, and not wanting to cook? All issues for me. And my general attitude towards my life in general is not where it should be at the moment. So I need to work on that as well.
Something's gotta give... and soon.

I am also in that boat. I can't seem to get on top of anything!! The only habit I have never let go of is working out 5 to 6 days a week but that is for my mental health and to appease anxiety. I am trying to now focus on improving eating habits. Not.as easy as commiting to exercise. One day at a time! Now I will go fold and put away some laundryš0 -

Rainy weekend with the Loop all muddy and parts of it closed to bike/foot traffic. It was a reading weekend, with brief tv breaks for the Olympic Dressage coverage, "A Discovery of Witches," and the series finale of "The Good Witch" (which seriously made me sad - I know it's only a tv show, but I've watched it faithfully for years and the characters felt like friends. Ah well, all good things...)
Wishing you all a great week ahead.2
